Take a stroll through historic downtown Harpers Ferry and you will find a plethora of locally-owned cafes and restaurants. After a really terrible experience at a nearby restaurant, Almost Heaven Pub & Grill was certainly like "almost heaven" to us. We both agreed we should have came here first.
Outdoor patio seating was perfect, as the inside was a little small, cramped, and rather dark. Our waitress was upbeat, cheerful, and definitely seemed to enjoy her job. She advised us no alcohol served on downstairs front patio, which was fine with us. It's a Harpers Ferry law, I think.
I ordered the Fish N Chips. GREAT decision. I definitely recommend it. Fresh, flakey, crunchy fish served with curly fries and yummy homemade coleslaw. My friend got the Crab Cake Sandwich. It was HUGE! She said it was delicious.
I took one star off because we were in a hurry. We told our waitress we had to catch the bus back to our car, which was located at the main entrance to Harpers Ferry National Park. She seemed to not understand our sense of urgency. We were afraid we would miss the last bus so we told her to run our credit cards ASAP. She had a little confusion with the cards so we went inside to sort things out. Luckily, we did make it back just in time to catch the last bus. But we had to move swiftly.
Overall, this truly is a perfect spot to relax outside and enjoy the beautiful scenic views of downtown Harpers Ferry. I do plan to come here again.
