My husband was hinting that I should whip up some Filipino breakfast again. As the ever-funny Jo Koy once said, Filipino breakfast is basically leftovers... but with eggs. Usually, I cook up some tocino or longanisa, throw in a side of sinigang na hipon, and of course, sunny side up eggs. He's one spoiled guy, that's for sure.
But today, I decided to venture out of my kitchen and into someone else's. We checked out this small Filipino spot--tiny, maybe 10 to 12 chairs total--but packed with flavor. The menu is straightforward: your classic Filipino breakfast staples and some all-time favorites like Kare Kare and Pancit.
We ordered the mix pancit, tocilog (tocino, garlic rice, egg), bagnetsilog (crispy pork belly, garlic rice, egg), pork sinigang, and pork isaw. Every single dish hit the spot. The tocino was tender and flavorful, the bagnet was perfectly crispy, and the sinigang came out piping hot with just the right amount of sourness and heat. And that pork isaw? Mouthwatering.
Now let me say this: if you're not a fan of fatty pork goodness, this is not your spot. From the tocino to the sinigang, this place is all about rich, savory flavors. No valet, no fancy plating, no health-conscious options here. This isn't for vegans, dieters, or anyone expecting a wellness café vibe.
But if you're craving comfort food, Filipino-style, this little hole-in-the-wall delivers. Support your fellow kababayan! We'll definitely be back.
