Aloft Madrid Gran Via

"Why did this hotel catch your attention? What's the vibe? That buzz you hear is the energy of Gran Via. Cars whizzing by, shoppers toting handfuls of recent purchases, and locals strolling the colorfully lit street en route to the theater or an aperitivo with friends. What's the backstory?Aloft, a member of Marriott Bonvoy, is often regarded as the younger sibling of W Hotels. It demonstrates a similar vibe in its modern public areas with an emphasis on music, pop culture, and technology. The first Aloft property in Spain follows that recipe perfectly with plans to host occasional Live at Aloft music concerts every two months at the hotel. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book?Rooms were designed by Rockwell Group, and the hotel calls them “future-proof.” Pops of color appear in the carpeting, artwork, and accent fabrics. But, everything is just where the traveler should expect it. No light switches or power outlets oddly positioned or bathrooms with dim lighting. Even better, that forward-looking design made space for both work desks and small sitting areas including some rooms with outdoor terraces. In keeping with the tech focus, the TVs come with functionality to sync personal devices with the large screen. You won’t have to dig through your bag to find your room key either as Marriott Bonvoy members can use Bluetooth capability through their smartphone or Apple Watch as their room key. Loft Terrace rooms offer great outdoor views of the city. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi?Wi-fi is free throughout the hotel. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at?The W XYZ Bar serves up plenty of cocktails and regional wine, but in warmer months, be sure to cheers your trip by the rooftop pool where views of the neighborhood unfurl before you. Most travelers will head out to dine around the neighborhood, but middle-of-the-night snackers will find a 24-hour café in the lobby. And the service?Aloft is a relaxed and approachable brand; as such, so are the youthful staff. No formal suits or stiff upper lips here. What type of travelers will you find here? It’s a playful atmosphere inside that suits both business travelers and tourists. If you make your way from one side of the lobby to the other, you can eavesdrop on local gossip, indie bands, global warming, which tour to take to Toledo, and which colleague in the office should be promoted. How’s that for variety! What about the neighborhood? Does the hotel fit in, make itself part of the scene?Gran Via never pretends to be posh Salamanca or indie-spirited Chueca or Malasaña. What it has going for it is its centrality to most tourist sights, affordable shopping and dining, and zero pretenses. That makes Aloft a perfect fit for this neighborhood. Is there anything you'd change? The entrance to the hotel is small and hardly glamorous, but once inside, no one cares. Any other hotel features worth noting?Kudos to designers that didn’t forget that even those working out in the gym deserve natural light and city views. The rooftop bar is sure to attract locals although there is plenty of competition for bar-hopping along this famous street. Bottom line: Worth it? Why?The right price in the right location. This is where millennials go after they graduate from a stay at nearby Generator Madrid. It fits their style and needs well." - Ramsey Qubein

We had a lovely stay at the Aloft Hotel Madrid. The room was nice, modern, and had everything we needed. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived.||Breakfast was small but good, with everything you need to start the day. Fresh products, good coffee, and a relaxed atmosphere – a great match for a city stay in Madrid.||The location is just great. You can reach many cafés, restaurants, and highlights of the city on foot or easily by metro.||There was some construction going on during our stay. It would have been helpful to be informed about it already at the time of booking, and not just one week before arrival. Apart from that, everything was perfect.||We would definitely choose the Aloft Hotel Madrid again and recommend it to anyone who wants to experience Madrid in an urban, easy, and stylish way.

Hotel was very nice located. Room was comfortable. Axel from front desk provided an excellent service during check in and also during my stay. He also provided me with some recommendations of places to eat and visit while my time in Madrid. Way to go! I will be happy to stay over again.

Stayed at aloft 18-22 April for 4 nights and it was the best decision I made. Was looking at double tree since I’m a diamond member aswell but I decided to choose the aloft and I don’t regret my decision. Firstly the staff are amazing they go out of there way to help u. Nathaly one of the staff there at aloft was truly so so helpful I called the hotel n even chatted on the Marriott app n she promised me if they hav availability for a bigger room she wud giv me and she honestly honoured her promise. She and her colleagues looked after us the whole stay. The hotel is literally a few steps from grand vie it is like the perfect location if u want to visit Madrid. There’s only maybe 3 things that u shud be aware of ther is no porter to help u wit luggage n the reception is on the 3rd floor so if the uber or taxi drops u outside they jus leave u wit your bags and u need to sort out yourself but i already new that there wasn’t a porter service so i spoke to nathaly about it and she told me her colleagues would help us and they did so thank u to nathaly n her team. And also breakfast is basic jus like tea/coffee n cereal n maybe toast/croissant n yoghurt n some fruits so don’t expect a big breakfast but this was perfectly fine for us. There is also a laundry room on the 7floor so u can wash n dry your clothes in the machine n u collect the tokens downstairs but ther is a fee ofcourse. Well worth it I wud say. I can’t fault this hotel in anyway. Since we Muslim we wanted halaal food and rite opposite the aloft is a restaurant called Damascus gate and doesn’t sell alcohol so that was so perfect for us. Overall our stay was amazing thank to Nathaly n her team and I wud definitely recommend anyone goin to Madrid to stay at this Marriott brand hotel.

The Aloft made for a very comfortable home away from home for my family and me (6 people across 3 generations). Everyone loved it! The rooms are clean, big and modern. We slept very well! It's centrally located. The breakfast is amazing. Perhaps the best part is the service! The staff—at the front desk, the breakfast, maintenance workers—are all so nice (and bilingual, some trilingual or more)! Very welcoming, very professional, very helpful for anything you could want in and around Madrid. I travel a lot for work, and this staff are among the best! We bookended our trip at the Aloft: stayed there for 2 nights, went to Andalusia for 3 nights, and then back to the Aloft for 3 nights—we were so excited to return! And we would absolutely stay here again the next time I have the opportunity to visit Madrid.

Google
Lovely new hotel is great location - rooms were a good size, clean and had everything we needed. But, what really sets Aloft Madrid apart from the competition is the staff - all super friendly and helpful. Axel, who checked us in, really went above and beyond to welcome us - great work Axel. We will return.

Google
Seriously the nicest staff ever. Every person here greeted you with a smile, and was very warm and welcoming and went out of their way to help. The hotel itself is very comfortable and nice. Very clean and rooms and public spaces were well appointed. The location is excellent as well being right next to the subway station and right in the middle of everything..even being right in the heart of everything it was not too loud. Definitely coming back here next time I am in Madrid!

Google
Location is great as it’s centralized to all the major sites. The service was amazing. However, the rooms are very small and dark, not a ton of natural light or lighting in general in the room. The walls are very thin. You can hear everything around you. Pool was closed.

Google
This hotel is centrally located in the heart of Madrid. So, it’s right in the smack of NYC-time-squarish area, if that is what you are looking for. We appreciated the convenience to shopping, a couple of tourist attractions, and most importantly a 10 minute walk to the rental car place for our day trips. The staff and service is top-notch as we have come to expect and love from Marriott (we exclusively travel Marriott for work and pleasure in the states). We had two rooms and one of them had great unobstructed views. Rooms are a good size with a decent sitting space - we were able to all hang out together at the end of a hectic day of touring to relax in one room. However, there were a couple of issues that prevented me from giving a 5 star rating. First, the rooftop, which was our main reason to get this hotel was temporarily closed :( :( . We were really looking forward to getting panoramic views of Madrid but couldn’t. Second, one of our two rooms had persistent bad smell. We informed the front desk and they were kind about it - but since we were only there for one more night, exhausted, and touring most of the day, we said we don’t want to pack-change-rooms-unpack. If they could address the smell, we would appreciate it. They even followed up with us to check in, which was nice. But, the smell remained and we just ended up opening the windows to air the room out, which can get loud, given the property location. Lastly, there is ongoing renovation, which likely led to closed areas, smell, and dust.

Yelp
I like the centralized location of this hotel, right on Gran Via and steps from the Metro stop. It's also on a quiet side street and I heard no noise from the street at late night. The rooms were updated, clean, and had a decent breakfast- thought I've definitely seen better at other Marriotts. The staff is friendly, and English speaking as well. I'd definitely stay here on my next visit to Madrid.

Yelp
We booked this hotel last minute with points after an Airbnb mishap. The location is great. - right off gran via, close to sol and plaza España. The staff were firendly and efficient. The reception is on floor 3, but with the cardkey and guard at night outside ( this may have been for a public event this weekend ) it felt very secure. The soundproofing of the room was great - minimal outdoor sound fron the neighborhood. It seemed the property is under some renovations - we did not see the roof. The room was fresh and clean. Most importantly there were no traditional curtains with the laer beam of am sunshine to prevent sleeeping in, but rather paper blinds which perform much better I wish more hotels had these! I missed the breakfast, bit apparently there is that and a gym as well - not for me on vacation.

Yelp
Very nice hotel in the center of Madrid. Located on Calle Gran Via, so it can be a little bit noisy in the evenings. The staff were very helpful and friendly. There is a nice breakfast every morning with a great coffee machine.

Yelp
Highlights included: - A stunning rooftop pool, perfect for lounging and soaking up city views. - An unbeatable location allowing easy walks to key sights like the Royal Palace and Plaza Mayor. - Ultra-comfortable beds - Convenient ice machines on every floor - a treat for American travelers. - A fun lobby, great gathering place if traveling with friends. - A professional, helpful, and friendly front desk staff. Aloft offers modern comfort and friendly atmosphere in the heart of Madrid. Highly recommended!

Yelp
An unassuming black sign marks the entrance to the Aloft Madrid Gran Via, a narrow hotel located off the side street of its namesake: a bustling avenue filled to the brim with department stores, vans selling touristy paraphernalia, and hordes of people (especially during the #eurosummer). After taking a short elevator ride (side note: the elevators are quite small) up to the hotel lobby on the third floor, we were warmly greeted by the receptionist, who checked us into our two rooms and pointed out some of Madrid's most famous landmarks, including the Royal Palace of Madrid. The hotel lobby is fun and inviting, with a young vibe - there are old-school arcade machines, funky furniture reminiscent of a modern spaceship, and a counter featuring a coffee machine (which is surprisingly good for free hotel coffee) as well as fun sushi-shaped gummies. We had booked one room with two twin beds (though they seemed more like full-sized beds), and one with one queen. Both rooms were fairly spacious, sparsely but tastefully decorated, and had sleek, modern bathrooms stocked with high-quality products! Additionally, the entire hotel is air-conditioned, which was a nice respite from the sweltering Spanish summer heat, and you can adjust the room to your liking. There's also a coffee maker and complimentary boxed water in each room, which is a nice bonus! The gym is on a lower floor, and it is small but well-lit, and has various cardio/weight machines as well as free weights. We enjoyed the hotel's breakfast (which came provided with Marriott Bonvoy status) during our stay - it is a buffet-style layout complete with traditional breakfast favorites such as scrambled eggs or toast, but there are also Spanish dishes such as jamón ibérico. For those that crave sweets, there is also a wide variety of pastries such as muffins and croissants, and yogurt and fruit with toppings for the more health-conscious. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Aloft - everyone was kind, knowledgeable, and efficient, the amenities were more than we could have asked for, and the location is stellar. Book well in advance for a great value!

Yelp
Staff is amazing, attention to detail awesome, but.... Roof has been closed for quite some time and the gym is a converted client room and not good. Tiny, with poor equipment. A bit overpriced for the area without the rooftop and poor gym.

Yelp
We stayed for 6 nights in February while my husband was traveling for work. Lobby was bright and offered complimentary coffee machine they made espresso, lattes and cappuccinos. The hotel has great sunset views. Staff was friendly and spoke English. The rooftop bar is a great spot to grab a drink. Pool was not open for the season but looked nice. The hotel is conveniently located off the Gran Via near shopping and dining. The parking garage is a short walk away and they offer a parking special by staying at the hotel.

Yelp
Giulia and the whole crew was amazing at check in and suggestions around the city. Rooms are clean and pretty quiet. Great location for food, shopping and metro

Yelp
Great location and price point, next to Callao and walkable to Sol. Above the Benetton. Ask for a higher level because there's a disco next door. Layout is great and gorgeous views. Bed is comfy. Mini freeze nice. Shower head rain type is great. Improvements would be faster WiFi and the shower heat variable. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Apple iwatch stolen at hotel. Would not recommend. Hotel front desk completely disengaged and unhelpful. Do Not Recommend at all.

Yelp
I stayed at Aloft Madrid Gran Via for 9 nights. The nicest things about the hotel are it's location, right off Gran Vía and you can walk anywhere in the city from here. I walked to Museo del Prado, Puerta del Sol, Palacio Real, Tempo de debod, El Retiro Park and even Atocha train station for a day trip to Toledo. The location is very central. Also, the breakfast buffet and staff are very good. I really enjoyed the coffee and breakfast set up. Staff is very accommodating. The downside - the lighting in the bathrooms are terrible. It's like going into a bathroom at a nightclub, low dim lighting. Maybe I'm too old to stay at Aloft being 53, but I need more light in a bathroom (also, the sink countertop was so low; being over 6', You really have to bend low to use it; maybe this is a European thing). Second, there was a thumping noise from music that regularly started at midnight and ran until 3am. It's kinda annoying and even though I travel with a sound machine, it's hard to drown out the thump of the bass in the walls. Lastly, the hotel has 3 elevators. One is a service elevator and is often not used for guests. The other elevator holds one person. That means you really have one elevator that holds about 2-3 people for the hotel. I asked for a low floor room so I could use the stairs instead. The stairway is central and much nicer than a back entrance dark and dank stairwell so it feels more usable. Overall, I was pleased with my stay and had a nice experience. When I return to Madrid, I'd ask for another low floor room and one away from wherever the music is coming from.

Yelp
Not as advertised. When I booked they said they had a rooftop pool and the WXYZ bar that is part of Aloft hotels. Both were closed for the duration of my stay. Had I been informed of this I would have definitely made other plans. I am disappointed with communication and the lack of amenities. There are lots of choices in Madrid and given the choice I would not come back here.

Yelp
We just had an amazing 3 nights in Madrid. Aloft was the perfect location for a break in the city. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Especially, Anca who always has a smile and goes above and beyond in her hospitality. Well done!

Yelp
I've been a longtime SPG/bonvoy member. I don't think I ever have submitted a complaint. Maybe once or twice if ever. But my night is just terrible. 1. As I'm writing this... Music at the nightclub right next door is blasting VERY loudly until well past 3:00am. My pregnant wife and I cannot fall asleep. And this is our last night in Spain. No one informed us that there was a nightclub *right* next to the hotel. 2. Front desk could not offer any help. I could not even reach them through the phone. It would just ring over and over for five minutes with no answer, forcing me to go downstairs to talk to someone. I needed towels at one point and was forced to go all the way to the front desk physically. 3. The shower got the entire floor of the bathroom wet due to its horrible design. We needed more towels to wipe it all up, hence the need for more towels. 4. The bathroom sliding door which is a mirror on the inside is cracked in lower right hand corner and all it had was duct tape over it which was a safety concern. The music above all else is the worst. We cannot get any sleep and it is infuriating. Why would you put the hotel right next door to a nightclub, and why wouldn't you disclose that to your guests? I really hope bonvoy can do something about this to make it up to us. This was extremely disappointing.

Yelp
Location -- Great location. Walking distance from Callao station. There is an entrance directly across the street. We took the metro from the airport and had to change lines twice, I think, but super easy to navigate and only cost a few bucks vs the 30 Euro taxi fare. Short walking distance to Sol and many other spots. It felt like a smaller version of Times Square. Lion King and Ghost were less than 5 minute walk. -- Staff. Superior. All the front desk agents were cheerful and helpful. Genuinely welcomed us to the hotel. The housekeeper did an excellent job in our room. The concierge was knowledgeable, however a bit predictable in her suggestions. The front desk agents were more useful with local suggestions. -- Breakfast was quite sufficient and yummy, however a bit steep in price. We did eat it because of our reward status with Marriott. Loved the Iberian ham, croissants, avocado toast, manchego cheese, spinach and mint juice, and the carrot and ginger marmalade. My daughter also loved the cut pieces of kiwi. -- Room. Nice and simple. No bells and whistles, but very functional. The rooms are on the smaller side but I think that's an European thing. My complaint would be that the AC never cooled our room. I had to call down twice for them to adjust the temperature. Weird because there is a thermostat in the room. Unfortunately, the fire alarm went off in our room due to the steam coming from the shower when I opened the bathroom door. A bit too sensitive, but better safe than sorry I guess. Loved that they offered complimentary water in the room. Oh yeah the elevators are super small only 2 people can fit in them with 2 bags at the most.

Yelp
The service and attention of the staff was exceptional! Everyone at the hotel went above and beyond to help me out. It is located in the Gran Via, very walkable and accesible to anywhere you need to go/get.

Yelp
I'm on my 3rd of 3 nights here. I have had a wonderful experience. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooftop bar is great! The food is good, the drinks are reasonably priced and the staff is phenomenal. The entire property is extremely clean. It's in a perfect location to walk anywhere in the central district of Milan. Will definitely stay here again.
