These Chicago Chili Crisps Chomp David Chang’s Chutzpah | Eater Chicago

"A 2018 incident involving cease-and-desist letters over use of the word “aloha” drew national attention and is frequently recalled as a precedent; critics noted the owners were not members of the AAPI community, underscoring tensions when companies try to claim seemingly generic cultural terms." - Ashok Selvam

My husband and I decided to try out Aloha Restaurant in Spring Lake and wow, what a hit. We went for the All You Can Eat option for just $22.99 and it was absolutely worth it. The sushi rolls were huge, super fresh, and packed with flavor. We tried the Lion King Roll and the Volcano Roll and both were delicious with generous portions and amazing textures. We also ordered hibachi steak, hibachi chicken, takoyaki, shrimp tempura, and a salmon poke bowl, and everything came out hot, fresh, and well-seasoned. Honestly, for just $22.99 per person, we were shocked at how much high-quality food we got. We both left stuffed and happy. It’s rare to find a place that balances quality, quantity, and price this well. Aloha is definitely a standout in Spring Lake. This place is going to be booming once word gets out. If you’re in the area, don’t sleep on it. We’ll absolutely be back soon.

Moving back to Spring Lake, this spot was a nice surprise. The fact that the day I was craving Spam Musubi and finding this place still blows my mind. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is very. They have things that an islander definitely looks for in a poke spot. I had the takoyaki, span musubi, beef ramen and taro boba.

Took my niece for lunch. Not very busy, and the food and drinks came out quick. My niece had 4 pieces of Salmon Sashimi with a Mango bubble tea to drink. I had the Hawaiian poke bowl. It had both tuna and salmon on it, with seaweed salad. Red onions, cucumbers and edemame. Absolutely delicious. I had to wash it down with a lychee bubble tea! The portion size was perfect and was very flavorful. If you want to try your luck at the claw machines, they are 2 dollars each and the tokens are sold at the register. I highly recommend you check this place out.

Pleasantly surprised with our dining experience! I caught it on the first day and I thought everything was great. The food was fresh and well prepared. Order was correct and prompt. Inside was clean and staff was friendly. I'm pretty picky about my sushi, but it was great and fresh. Portions are great sized and the bento box comes with lots of great veggies that are fresh too and nicely diced. The meats were just a touch dry, but for the first day I have no complaints. Will absolutely be back soon.

Food was great, love that you can order on a kiosk or at the counter. Fairly reasonably priced items and loads of menu items! I recommend everyone to try this place, they should have something anyone can enjoy.

If you have an allergy, especially gluten, you will have an issue here. I've ordered in person at the register as well as online twice now and both times it's been a waste of money because I've had to throw out the poke bowl.

Need more smiling faces there but the food was AMAZING. We got the build your own poke bowl, tuna pizza, spam musubi, and chicken Katsu.

I'm not sure why so many people are saying the food here has no flavor. I've ordered multiple foods and with the exception of one, they were all delicious. The one that wasn't had nothing to do with preparation or lack of flavor, I just didn't like that particular flavor. Still ate it for the sake of not being wasteful and now I know what not to get in the future. Every time my family comes here, the place is clean, the staff is friendly and patient, and the food is exactly what it should be, whether I happen like it or not. I think a lot of people eat foods with so much salt and sugar so frequently, their taste buds are just shot. I'll leave you with a recommendation. If you've never had Thai Tea, or if you have and you like it, Aloha's is on point, as is their boba.

Yelp
I'm disappointed. I love poke and boba so I really wanted this to be a hit, but it was far from it. Aloha Poke is next door to Jin Jin, which is in a fairly desolate area off Lillington Hwy. The staff is friendly and the interior is cute. Not sure why there is a wall with pictures from Santorini, but ok. I received the menu in the mail, so I pretty much already knew what I wanted to order. I ordered the Hawaiian Poke Bowl with a Thai Tea Boba. My wife happened to order the exact same thing. The boba was brought to us first. On first site, I already wondered why there is little to no ice and hardly any boba. After taking the first sip, the taste was ok, but it was barely chilled and wasn't refreshing in that sense. The boba itself had a nice texture and flavor to it, but there was probably only 1/3 of the amount I'd expect from other boba places. Next came the poke bowl itself. With my first bite, the only tasted sauce. As I took a closer look, there was nothing but sauce. Once I got to the rice, I didn't see many grains that weren't covered in rice. Also, the rice didn't seem to be either short-grain sushi rice, or medium-grain calrose rice, so that texture was off to me. There was just so much sauce it kind of made me nauseated.

Yelp
We got the chicken Katsu, spam musubi, tuna, pizza, and a build your own poke bowl. The food was very good.

Yelp
The food was terrible, paid $100 for sashimi and sushi rolls that tasted like bait. Not fresh at all. Could not even eat it and I love sashimi and sushi. Do not waste your money... just eat the scraps off of any NC dock.

Yelp
Delicious, vibrant, affordable sushi and Asian food. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Sushi was delicious. Ginger was fresh. Wasabi was good, too. Poke bowls were delicious. Will order again. Highly recommend!
