I discovered this place upon the recommendation of an Uber driver while I was traveling in Boulder (Boulder has the *nicest* Uber drivers, by the way!) and it ended up being the perfect spot for a casual but lovely dinner.
I was on a work trip and traveling solo, so I loved the fact that this place was filled with a mix of couples, small groups, and folks who were eating solo. I didn't feel weird eating on my own here, but it also would be a great spot for a date or a dinner with friends. The waitress was so incredibly friendly and service was extremely prompt, even given that there was a steady crowd on the night I was there (a weekday evening around 6 PM). Thankfully no wait though!
I was pleasantly surprised to see a cocktail menu featuring drinks in the $6-7 range - a rarity these days, at least to this Bostonian! To be fair, most of the cocktails were more wine spritzer style, not a full strength cocktail... but still perfectly refreshing for a summer night (and much less costly than similar spritzer drinks I've seen elsewhere). Craft beers were like $5 for a pint - a great deal!
The meal I ordered, the drunken noodles, was AMAZING. I often try this dish at new Thai restaurants, and this version was perfectly executed - just the right amount of spicy, the chicken was perfectly cooked, and most importantly, the perfect sauce. And the portion size was big enough for two meals! The presentation of the dish was lovely as well.
I overheard a guy near me raving about the Khao Soi (one of my other go-to dishes at Thai restaurants), and it looked and smelled delicious - if I find my way back to Boulder again in the future, that might be next on my list of dishes to try here!
All in all, Aloy Thai was a perfect mix of terrific service, great ambiance, and even better food - I'm all in!
