Our experience with Alpenroyal Restaurant was extremely disappointing and honestly alarming.
We informed the restaurant two days in advance that we would not be able to make our reservation. Despite providing notice, we were later hit with a €300+ charge on our credit card for a supposed no-show. This felt excessive and unjustified, especially given that we made an effort to notify them ahead of time.
When we reached out to question the charge, the response from the restaurant was unprofessional and dismissive. Instead of explaining their policy or attempting to resolve the issue, they were defensive and unwilling to engage in any meaningful discussion. The communication came across as rude and hostile, which only made the situation worse.
Charging hundreds of dollars without flexibility or reasonable customer service leaves a very bad impression. This experience has forced us to dispute the charge through both OpenTable and our credit card company.
Future guests should be extremely cautious when booking here. Make sure you fully understand their cancellation policy, keep written proof of any communication, and closely monitor your credit card. Based on our experience, we would not return and do not recommend this restaurant.
