Oracle Tests Blockchain Technology with Local Brewery Alpha Acid | Eater SF

"Inside a microbrewery and taproom in an industrial park in Belmont — not far from Oracle’s massive headquarters in Redwood City — I saw small, internet-enabled sensors take the temperature of fermentation tanks filled with brewer Kyle Bozicevic’s beer; those readings are logged in the Oracle cloud along with data from the farm in Gilroy, the yeast lab, and the malthouse. Alpha Acid’s booth at Oracle’s Code One developer exchange (October 22–25) doubles as a demo of how Oracle’s blockchain applications can track transactions across the supply chain: from ingredient producers to the point of sale where drinkers scan a QR code. The setup supplies a marketing “cool” factor that helps tell the story of why this beer is special, and it also offers practical benefits — if a shipment gets too hot or raw materials have issues, the brewer can identify and recall only affected batches, potentially saving kegs and money — especially important given that Bozicevic says they’re using very, very expensive ingredients." - Caleb Pershan

Google
As a first-time visitor to Alpha Acid Brewing Company in Belmont, California, I had a great time exploring their craft beers. The atmosphere was laid-back and inviting, making it a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy some unique brews. Their beer selection is impressive, with a variety of flavors to choose from, and the staff were friendly and eager to help me find something I would like. I appreciated their knowledge and enthusiasm about the beers they serve. However, I did run into a couple of hiccups. I initially came for what I thought was an event, but discovered that the website calendar was outdated and showed last year’s events. Also, their phone number didn’t work when I tried to call ahead for more information. Despite these small issues, my visit was enjoyable, and the quality of the beer made up for it. I’d recommend checking it out if you’re in the area, just double-check event details ahead of time!

Google
Great brewery super good selection, good vibes and brewmaster was awesome to talk to.

Google
Good beer & vibes. Seating in/out and dog—friendly. Parking a little tricky at times but worth a short walk. Smaller and more personable than other larger breweries.

Daniel B.

Google
Wow what a microbrewery. I'm from Montreal and was very impressed. Popular, good beers and friendly staff. Took a flight of 4 beers. They're were all pretty good. In an industrial area but doesn't affect the quality of the place. Really enjoyed myself

Google
Banging Rice Lager, Hard Seltzer on tap called Full Send, and Smashed Burger place right outside. Friendly fellas behind the bar, with sports TV also if you like that. Might be cold in the evening - as open fronted. Wide open seating outside. Nice crowd. Would visit again.

Google
I liked the place. Beer selection was pretty large (12 beers), price was reasonable. They had plenty of seating and parking. It's kid, dog and adult friendly. They also had a stack of games for people to play, which I always appreciate at tap rooms. For the beer, the standout for me was their stout and their hazy IPA. My wife also enjoyed her beers. We'll head back here if in the area for sure.

Google
They have hazy! 3 of them! Very chill location with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. You can choose between 4/6/8 oz pours for most beers. There's board games, video games and a big TV with sports. Pet friendly if it's friendly. Restroom onsite and easy parking

Google
Alpha Acid Brewing Company offers offbeat and unexpected brews. Such as, a hazy, soft Belmont blur, a sharp Brosaic West Coast Double IPA, a stout aged in liquor barrels for up to a year, grapefruit radlers, and boozy 14.5% imperial Stouts. Kyle Bozicevic has a preference of using ultra high-end and hard to find ingredients to brew his beer. His specialty brews and limited releases have him nicknamed "the small batch King" of the Bay area. Their commercial equipment supports no more than 77 gallons at one time. This would not be a great date spot, because there's nothing to do besides have a beer. It is a great spot to enjoy a cold beer, on a hot day, in a small Urban Warehouse brewery setting. Yelp
Best brewery on the peninsula. There is a wide variety of beer styles to choose from. If you have trouble deciding the bartenders are super knowledgeable and won't steer you wrong. My go to is the Full Send seltzers. If you're gluten free they have you covered with a rotating selection of fun and different flavors every time. There is plenty of indoor/outdoor seating and a reservable side room; perfect for getting friends together for a fun evening or a big celebration. My favorite is trivia night! Bo Lotti of Dangit Media hosts the most fun trivia show on Thursday nights at 7pm. It's a great time with great beer and great people.

Yelp
I have invited friends to meet me at Alpha Acid Brewing in Belmont over the past several years to enjoy some quality craft brews and Alpha Acid's friendly neighborhood vibe. They've been around for at least a decade brewing and serving some of the best craft beers on the Peninsula. It's a straightforward setup... patrons order at the counter then sit at either an inside table or an outside one to sip and chat. On my most recent visit, Matt was working the taps. He's a friendly sort and very knowledgeable about the beers Alpha Acid offers. Matt can pair your taste in beers with a flavorful ale, lager or amber. I prefer IPAs, so a buddy and I sampled Haze Ventura (7% ABV) and Hop Secret (9% ABV). The Ventura is a West Coast IPA... it's citrusy with a very palatable bitter finish. Hop Secret is a hazy that's less bitter than its West Coast cousin, but it has the hazy IPA signature rich, fruity texture. If you also prefer IPAs, you might just have to just flip a coin. Either way, you win. Alpha Acid features pop-up food vendors, and it's a good bet either a premium pizza or authentic Mexican cuisine will be available. My buddy ordered a burrito. There's nothing better than tipping a horn while enjoying a delicious made to order burrito. If you like beer, check out Alpha Acid. They're open in the afternoon until early evening. Prices are good. Drink responsibly... every time.

Yelp
Alpha acid was a great find for me and my friends. Tried the hazy ipa called the police something, it was really good. It was $9 for a pint. There's a calendar there with food pop up trucks, Shamsh'd burgers was there the day we went and it was delicious pairing with the beer. Would recommend trying them out too. Service is cool, there was only one person working. Also saw that there is trivia night on Thursday from 7-9pm will have to try that it out and see how it is one of these days. They have two TVs both playing the college football games. Some board games to play here with your friends. Parking here is pretty limited.

Yelp
This place is so cool! The bartender was VERY welcoming. I can see people buying more beers just because he's so nice. I got an awesome flight. "Slices" was the most refreshing since it's so hot outside. All the beers are amazing. It was hard to choose a favorite. If you ever find yourself in Belmont, Ca this is one of the best places to check out. Family friendly. Safe area. Cheers!

Yelp
Stopped by on a Friday night. Alpha Acid is nestled into the back corner of a commercial center with lots of offices and businesses. They have different food trucks onsite daily and a decently spacious interior with plenty of seating and a few outdoor chairs as well. We got a flight of 4 different beers and everything was great. Service was incredibly welcoming and friendly as well. Because of its location, parking is easy. They have a few retro arcade games and some board games to play inside as well. Prices are very reasonable. Looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
Always a great time coming here. Got a great selection of beers. They change up what they do there's always something new. Got done indoor sweating and outdoor seating. Really friendly staff that'll answer any questions you have. They also do food trucks in certain days. Amazing when shmashed burger are there. Burger and beer, excellent combination.
google avatar

Yelp
Brilliantly brewed beer from a great group of guys and gals. The space is terrific for all ages, and the food trucks are always phenomenal. Trivia nights are on Thursdays at 7pm. It's a hoot, man.
google avatar

Yelp
Trivia Thursday's is how we first heard about this place from a friend. The beer is delicious and they always have a new great food truck parked outside. Bo does a great job hosting!

Yelp
A superb local craft brewery in Belmont, California. I highly recommend to come and visit this amazing brewery that's celebrating its 12th anniversary!

Logan B.

Yelp
All time favorite brewery! Best beers and sours. My family loves to try different breweries but this one is by far superior. The most welcoming and chill staff too. There's usually a food truck there. Super family and dog friendly
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Nice little brewery with pleasant staff. No food options but usually there is a food truck and there is a taco truck nearby
google avatar

Yelp
Great beer! Followed our favorite burger pop up, Shmashd here. Good spot to stop by and enjoy their delicious beer also loved that one of the workers came by and made sure our dog had fresh cold water

Yelp
This place has a lot of great beers on tap, it's a great vibe , I feel kinda like family when i come here. I love the bands and the music sells have here. I came here for quality beer and I got what I came here . I also came here to rock and that definitely happened too. The state is pretty cool here too.
google avatar

Andrea R.

Yelp
I've had Alpha Acid's beer multiple times, but somehow had never visited the brewery. It won't be my last time visiting. I had a flight of sours and a couple of others over the course of a fun night of trivia hosted by Bo w/ Dangit. If you're looking for good beer, or a fun trivia night with a fun format, this is your spot!
google avatar

Don B.

Yelp
Genuinely fantastic beers of all styles, and frequent guest food options stop by. Their IPAs and sours have always been great, and their stouts are very popular.

Yelp
What a FUN Thursday evening with awesome Bo hosting trivia night! Just the right kind of chill environment. Tacos from Ramos's food truck was delicious! They have a variety of brews; you'll definitely find something you like.

Yelp
Bo turns an already awesome spot into our Thursday-night home! Amazing craft pours, laid-back vibes, and EASILY the best trivia in town. Bo's energy, witty clues, and "everyone-belongs" hosting style keep my friends and me coming back every week. If you're looking for great beer and even better mems, come by on a Thursday!

Yelp
My husband and I have been on a mission to try out more breweries between where we live and work, and Alpha Acid was on our list. Needless to say, it exceeded our expectations and then some. We are big brewery goers and always look for a few things while checking out breweries: 1) a solid lineup of beers and ciders or seltzers 2) rotating schedule of food trucks 3) friendly staff 4) the ability to taste before choosing, and 5) a fun environment with games and a good crowd. Alpha Acid has all this and more! There are pinball machines (sadly didn't have enough in quarters but next time), one of the best taco trucks we've had (El Amanecer), great staff and many beers to choose from. Don't sleep on their seltzers--I had the best seltzer I've ever had here, made with real Alphonse mangoes (the Cadillac of mangoes, IYKYK). Pick up some crowlers to take home at the end of your visit, you can mix and match!

Ri C.

Yelp
Tara. Was great... had me taste a few beers. She's a new employee and great to chat with. She is very kind. Please visit her. 5 stars for her today!

Staci T.

Yelp
Love this place! Go for their trivia nights on Thursdays with Dangit media. 10/10 fun and laughs! They have good beers (and non-alcoholic beers too!)

Yelp
I was at Alpha Acid Brewing last Saturday for a summer mixer. There was a small event being hosted there; I decided to cross the Dumbarton Bridge to the Peninsula and check it out. Overall I found the beer to be delicious and the staff was very friendly. We saw out on the patio, and it was a nice summer day. The brewery is located in an industrial park towards the back though (?)- so that was a bit random. Otherwise, I did enjoy my visit. And they have a water station so easy to stay hydrated. Some of their beers look unique (I love IPAs)- so if I were in the area I would return. It was fun to check out a new craft brewery!
google avatar

T T.

Yelp
Came here for the first time after having tried their beers at other tap rooms and had a great time! Staff was friendly and I was able to sample a few of their beers before deciding what I ultimately wanted. Space is small and intimate and it was a great place to hang out and chat during a weekend afternoon. Unsure if it is there all the time, but they have a food truck outside as well serving Mexican food.
google avatar

Tony M.

Yelp
So, they won't get a ton of style points for the location at the back corner of a decidedly nondescript 1970s industrial park in Belmont; up on the Peninsula ( think, Redwood City, San Carlos , San Mateo etc. ) But the vibe here is good the folks working are straight out of central casting for brewers. The best part though is that the beer is even better. I tried their Dark and Crispy dark lager and found it nearly perfect for the genre, crisp yet still full with darker flavors but not overly roasty. I also had the Juice Police hazy IPA and just loved it! Full of rich juiciness and actually not all that obnoxiously hoppy :-). Solid performer for sure. I also tried their Boa; an imperial oatmeal stout with added brown sugar. It's big and bold and in your face. But in a good way for sure :-). Loved them all. And I will for sure be back when in the area. This is the perfect place to come down to earth and enjoy some great beer where none of your uppity friends will find you :-) Oh they do seltzers and sour beers as well ( if you like that kind of stuff :-) food trucks most days and parking is pretty easy on weekends, a bit more tricky during the work week :-)

Yelp
Stopped in to check out this brewery. It's a little hidden sways in the back of an office park. Don't give up, you'll find it! It's a bit of a cold space, although they did everything possible the make it fun a interesting. It's a converted storage area. But they make it work. Great interesting beers to choose from. A few beers that were west coast IPSs, which I like. Lots of other much more interesting beers too though. Food wise, they have a digital pizza kiosk where you can order a pizza and it'll be delivered to the tasting room. They also have food trucks, sometimes. When we visited it wasn't very busy. They dude pouring answered every question and was helpful. Last thing I'll say is they have a weird fun pile of games to choose from. Please do check them out. Fun stuff...

Yelp
Good beer and good service! I liked their sour beer. Parking is okay. Decent amount of seating...

Susan H.

Yelp
Good beer and the food truck had great chicken fingers! They also had live music. I had a hazy ale. I loved it.

Alexis C.

Yelp
Big fan of this brewery, great IPAs. I come for Bo's trivia every Thursday!!!! It's an absolute blast and worth the time to check out

Brock L.

Yelp
Delicious brewskies! Highly recommend you attend Thursday's for the trivia show! Best I've seen!

Yelp
Alpha acid is a small microbrewery in one of those industrial/commercial strip building kind of places. The was small and was pretty cool with the side outdoor bar area. they also have a couple of arcade games in there. They had a food truck while I was there as well. I got a hazy IPA, which wasn't too bad but I prefer others. I wouldn't mind coming back if there's a new beer, they have that sounds interesting to try.

Matt W.

Yelp
Great rotating beer selection (I love Slices IPA and the Mango Milkshake IPA), great food (food trucks and they also sell chips & other snacks), lots of board games and activities, large tv's everywhere showing the Giants/Warriors/Niners, ideal location (right off of 101 & next to El Matate - great mex food and In N Out down the road too), friendly & knowledgable staff, and a clean bathroom! Highly recommend Alpha Acid to anyone looking for a spot to grab a cold one and enjoy good vibes.

Yelp
Food truck was great we just got chips so bring cash. Beer people were great and knowledgeable

Yelp
this is a great place to gather with friends for a drink or 2 or 3! a bit hidden, off the beaten path, i actually made a few wrong turns in trying to find this bar, even wondering if i was in the correct parking lot! they do have some dedicated parking, but you can also park along the curb (all parallel). their outdoor beer garden is quite lovely, lots of tables set for groups of 4-6, or you can sit inside with similar seating arrangements...outdoor space is bigger than indoor space though. the bar is inside, and you can order a single beer or a flight of 4. i was quite fascinated by the "device" that was used for the flight of 4...the standard small wineglass holders with a screwdriver to hold the entire flight! genius! the bar does sell some snacks, nuts, candy, etc, but they usually have a food truck/vendor selling hot food. on the day i visited, they had a simple grill station offering banh mi inspired tacos, meat, seafood, and vegetarian tacos. staff is very nice, and there is a single unisex restroom inside. they also have a cart with some board games, something to pass the time by as you sip on your ale and munch on your tacos with your friends. looking forward to my next visit here! conveniently located just off 101 & harbor blvd.

Yelp
Time for an update. Emerald Hills Double IPA: 4.5/5. When it comes to most IPAs I usually pass. But I got a chance to try this and wow, I think I like IPAs now. Really balanced flavor. Another one to come back for. It looks like they have food trucks here every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, so I need to come back for some food and suds soon.
google avatar

Jason F.

Yelp
I had the chance to connect with an old friend and employee of Alpha Acid Brewery. They have the most incredible IPA /beer selection I've ever seen! No joke! Professional staff and clean environment. Very cozy and inviting atmosphere. If you're ever in the Belmont /San Carlos area, come see these guys at 'Alpha Acid Brewing'.. They started from the bottom... Now they're Here! Come get a taste of a good quality beer!

Yelp
More brewery adventures in California and this time it's at Alpha Acid Brewing! I've been wanting to try this brewery ever since I heard the name of the place. It has a nice ring to it! Steve and I just had one of their beers with this experience. Rakau's Modern Haze is the name of the beer we had. It was an Imperial IPA. All in all not too bad. It had all the basic characteristics an IPA should have ... like plenty of hops but it wasn't necessarily a memorable beer and that is what I'm always on the lookout for and hope to find. Still not a bad beer experience. Fun looking swag for sure and that was something I definitely didn't pass up on buying. Normally I get a picture of the beer I'm drinking but after digging in the photo archives I don't seem to have taken one so shame on me for that!
google avatar

Yelp
Good beers! We really enjoyed the Slice (west coast IPA) and the mango seltzer that is on tap. The atmosphere is also very enjoyable and had a few food trucks outside too. Kyle is also wonderful!

Yelp
Came here because they have pinball. Beer is okay with many options to choose from. Great place to play some games and have a brew.

Yelp
Love love this brewery! I regularly visit breweries when I travel and having had one of their cans from a grocery store, I needed to find Alpha Acid. Typical of many small breweries, they are in an industrial park. I wasn't sure of the painted spots were reserved so I parked alone the side road where there were a lot of cars. It is byo food so I came with a burrito from Taqueria El Metate (also recommend!). The bar tender was extremely helpful. I ordered a flight of 4 IPAs that also came in cans so I could take some home if I liked them. There's indoor and outdoor seating, both tables and a bar. I grabbed a bar seat and enjoyed my flight and food. I had four beers while there and enjoyed each of them. Their IPAs are full of flavor with a nice west coast style. They are hoppy without being too bitter and range from clear to cloudy. Being used to NE IPAs these were nice refreshing change! I brought cans to take back and they help up as well. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Decent beer, no food, quiet and chill; nice staff, easy to find parking, good for quick pint on the go!
google avatar

Yelp
Visited the brewery while I was with a friend visiting the area. This place is kind of off the beaten path but definitely worth a visit. There are several seating areas with various ice breakers in all of them. One section has board games another section has old school arcade games. I would definitely recommend visiting this local brewery, I had the imperial stout it was delicious. My friend had one of their sours which I got a chance to taste as well it was really good too. The staff and owner were really nice!
google avatar

Prashant S.

Yelp
We had our baby shower a few days back at the brewery! Kyle and his team were amazing right from the lead up to coming early and being completely on top of everything and ensuring a very fun and happy event! We were easily able to accommodate ~60 people (45 adults + kids) at the venue. The beers were fabulous, the "mom"-osas were excellent. I cannot recommend this spot enough for a party, a get together or just a few friends wanting a chill spot to grab a beer! Thanks for making our event a memorable one! Will definitely be back for more :)
google avatar

Patrick H.

Yelp
I've got to say I think this is the best craft brewery in the San Carlos/Belmont area. It's a small place but they seem to always have at least ten different beers on tap. This visit I had an excellent dark lager and a nice hazy IPA.
google avatar

Jeremiah A.

Yelp
I found this amazing brewery while on a visit to the San Francisco area. I live in Las Vegas, and we have a burgeoning craft beer scene of our own. With that in mind I always like to check out the local craft brews when I visit anywhere. Alpha Acid happened to be very close to my hotel, so I made a point to check them out. I was very impressed. I like sours, and tried their Mango Lassi. It was absolutely delicious, with notes of mango, cinnamon, and banana. It also contained lactose, giving it a sweetness and creamy mouth feel, almost like a smoothie. The beer tender was knowledgeable, friendly, and very patient with a visitor from out-of-town. It has an industrial but friendly atmosphere, being in an industrial park. This is is similar to many of the breweries I frequent in Vegas. There are TVs showing local sports, as well as an excellent selection of card and board games. They offer single glasses, flights, crowlers, anything your beer adventure seeks. I highly recommend Alpha Acid if you're in the area.

Yelp
Alpha Acid is a small, local brewery making creative beers in a popular configuration for the Bay Area: a small space with rollup door in an industrial office park off the highway. I've visited several times over the years, with my most recent exploration on a sunny Saturday afternoon during Covid times. Space: Small and no-frills, with somewhat dark indoor seating plus picnic tables in the parking lot (with the quiet roar of Hwy 101 in the background). The draft beers offered are listed on colorful, hand-drawn signs hanging above the interior window that serves as a bar. Beer selection: A few years ago they used to be much more focused on IPAs but in recent years have opened up the variety. On my recent visit they had two West Coast IPAs, three hazy IPAs, one lager, one sour, one saison, and two dark beers (a stout and a quad). Beer quality: I tried 1/2 pint pours of both their single and double West Coast IPAs (my usual style go-to) and they were both fine; as in "average" (3*). Their 6th anniversary wild sour was pretty tasty (4*), though I've had slightly better. I also tried a very small 4 oz pour of a belgian quad that they advertised was aged in bourbon barrels. A high-ABV beer, but a tad disappointing given the description (3.5*). Food: A must-have for me if I'm getting my beer on. They had a Hawaiian style plate lunch and burrito truck on my recent visit, and my veggie burrito hit the spot squarely. (I hope they keep the food trucks going after Covid - otherwise I just won't stay as long). Overall Rating: I'm not a huge fan of the space; after visiting similar spots it seems they could do more with it (art? heat lamps? canopies?) Also, the LACK of outdoor, SHADED tables narrowed our seating choices substantially (We had been in the sun all day and didn't want more). As for the beer, it's pretty decent but the thing is: after several visits I've never had a beer here that I LOVED. Grading on a curve against other local breweries, 4 stars just seems a little too generous. I hope to come back again this summer to see if a re-think is in order.

Yelp
We love having this spot in our neighborhood! They produce many awesome and creative beers, and I've had some really fire watermelon hard seltzer and root beer hard seltzer here too. I've been visiting Alpha Acid roughly once a month for over a year. It is a great place to hang out with friends and catch up over some beers. They have tables inside where you can drink, eat, and play games. Back in the pre-covid days, you were allowed to bring in outside food and eat it while you chill which was great since they only sell snacks and didn't always have a food truck onsite. These days due to covid regulations, I think they are required to have food trucks onsite more often, but don't quote me. Once in a while they release a bunch of delicious sours and I get super excited and come try them all. I love a brewery that has multiple sours on tap. My bf says they have the best IPAs on the Peninsula. Keep them coming! Also- dogs are allowed, yay

Yelp
[Shelter-in-place to-go review]. OK this is one of those places that I absolutely cannot wait to go back to once things open up. It's quaint, but very cozy and aesthetically pleasing with its open and vibrant layout. And who doesn't like to be greeted by a large Mario? No need to order online. We showed up and placed our orders for individual cans on the spot. We got the Haze Ventura and the Velvet Touch and the latter totally took the cake for me. Just as the name says - it's so smooth and velvety and was a delicious stout! Tons of free parking out front.
google avatar

Yelp
Reminds me of one of those micro breweries in San Diego. Because it's located in an industrial park, pretty laid back vibe, with small tables and games, and even the choices of beer. Had their Thicc Wafers imperial stout, supposed to have a hint of oreo in it but too subtle for me I guess. They offer beers in 8 and 16 oz, they fill some of the beers in 32 ot 64 pz growlers too. A good place for craft beers and chill!

Dennis G.

Yelp
Great beer friendly customer service Fun place to meet up with co workings Food trucks to pick from and music on the weekends

Yelp
Alpha Acid is like a rich neighbors garage. Lots of cool stuff to do. Board games, retro arcade cabinets, live bands (older people music), and generally a cool vibe to it. Unfortunately, the beer just isn't that stellar. The service is decent but the beer just isn't that great. It's not bad it's just not anything to write home about. I come here occasionally but there isn't any beer that stands out for me or to bring me back. I do love hanging out here and it's at least worth a try.
