Best Napa Valley Wineries - Vineyards & Tours

"This gorgeous winery has made its name with high-end, single-vineyard Cabernets from famous properties like Beckstoffer To Kalon and Beckstoffer Dr. Crane. Still, their white and rosé bottlings are remarkable, too. Tastings range from $75 - $150 per person. Whether you experience Alpha Omega in the tasting room or from a terrace perch, you can't go wrong." - Food & Wine Editors

Winemaker Jean Hoefliger on the Interaction of Multitudes

"At Alpha Omega, Hoefliger is given carte blanche as winemaker. “One of the greatest things that ever happened to me was being given complete freedom here,” he says. “It’s amazing to be given every tool you need to express your art.” At Alpha Omega, he takes a high-risk approach to making wine, fermenting in barrel with indigenous yeasts, keeping the wines on their skins for up to 120 days. “Labor-wise, we are working with 1,000 barrels that need four punch-downs per day. That’s a lot of labor and potential problems,” he said. “There’s a risk factor involved. If a winery is producing a large volume, I would never take that risk. But at a smaller volume, I do, and should, take that risk.”" - Erin Brooks

Google
Alpha Omega offers an outstanding wine-tasting experience that truly stands out. Bren was absolutely excellent—his knowledge, warmth, and attention to detail made our visit unforgettable. He even went the extra mile to handwrite a list of local restaurants he thought we’d enjoy, which was such a thoughtful touch. The wines were exceptional, the atmosphere welcoming, and the service impeccable. Alpha Omega is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the best of Napa Valley. A well-deserved 5 stars!

Google
We had an amazing experience sitting outside on a sunny day in January (my favorite time in Napa valley!). Mo was our host and he took the time to share his history and passion for wine. We enjoyed a complimentary tasting (perks of staying at Alila Hotel) and loved the single selection wines. Great music and overall vibe. Also, very easy to get to as it is right off the Silverado Trail! We will be back!

Google
I had the pleasure of being served by John during our wine tasting. His extensive knowledge of the wines and his warm personality, made the entire experience both informative and enjoyable. John went above and beyond by pouring us a special selection that wasn’t even on the menu. He was attentive and ensured we had a great time.

We came to Alpha Omega as a group of 4. We were absolutely stunned by the grounds as well as the wine. Tim the guest services manager gave us one of the best experiences while we were in Napa. He was accommodating, knowledgeable, friendly and generous in explaining the wines. We are recommending anyone who visits Napa to come to Alpha Omega! Thank you again, Tim!

Google
Andrew at the bar was very knowledgeable about the different wines and informed us when the bottles were opened and what time they were decanted, without prompt. Superior service. I would recommend to every close friend i know, to stop by, whether they have a reservation or not. I've only been here twice. Once during Thanksgiving of 2019 and December 30th, 2024. Both times, absolute 5/5 star experience.

Google
An absolute WONDERFUL experience and AMAZING WINES!!!! My wife and I were recently in Napa Valley staying at the Silverado Resort. They advertised a Sunday Brunch wine pairing in the garden. We jumped at the chance to join the brunch when we heard that Alpha Omega Winery was pairing the wines with the brunch. When we arrived, we were greeted by Barrett Spiegel and Jeff Knowles from Alpha Omega. These are two of the nicest individuals you will ever meet! They have such an incredible knowledge of the wines and grapes. We learned so much and had an incredible time. The wines are some of the best we have ever tasted. Barrett and Jeff, thank ya'll again for making it such a wonderful event. We cannot wait to visit ya'll at your vineyard. We hope ya'll will make it over to Texas so we can repay your wonderful hospitality. Thank you again Alpha Winery for such an incredible experience!

Google
Alpha Omega Winery offers an exceptional wine tasting experience in the heart of wine country. The wines are of excellent quality, showcasing the true essence of the region's grapes. During my visit, I had the pleasure of being guided by a new friend Steve, who was incredibly knowledgeable about the wines and the winemaking process. His passion for wine was evident, and he made the tasting experience truly enjoyable. As for the food options, there aren’t any and we highly recommend some food options. The winery's scenic surroundings added to the overall ambiance, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere for wine enthusiasts and novices alike. If you appreciate fine wines and want to learn more about them, Alpha Omega Winery is definitely worth a visit!

Google
The property was beautiful, and it was a very laid-back tasting experience. The wines were good, and it was nice to start out Napa Valley trip with a relaxing tasting. The tasting area on the patio by the fountain was refreshing. Our host, Kent, was very knowledgeable and friendly. We will be returning in the future.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to do a mini-moon day trip to Napa and when looking up dog-friendly wineries, Alpha Omega was a must see, so we made the reservation! As soon as you get onto the property, you can feel the pristine and elegance. It is definitely one of the most aesthetic wineries I've ever been to, even down to the outdoor tasting area which featured a fountain! We were seated right away and got a glass of complimentary rose to start off. There are 3 tastings to pick from and we went with the Single Vineyard Tasting ($125) and the Signature Selections ($75). Let me start by saying, the pours are fat here and given how delicious each wine was, we thoroughly enjoyed it! Our server did a great job explaining all the wine origins to us, and even gave us a complimentary glass to compare one of the wines we happened to rank last. In the end, it was an amazing experience and the only thing missing was some food to pair! We ended up getting 2 bottles to go and they were kind enough to comp our tasting for the day so that was super nice. Overall, one of my favorite wine tasting experiences and if we're ever in the area, will definitely be back again!

Yelp
The grounds are stunning, and the staff is welcoming and attentive, that's just pulling in to valet. The property is so beautiful and well taken care of. The views are top notch. Ian really took care of us- knowledgeable, friendly, and he you can see he genuinely enjoys what he does. The tastings ranged from $75 to $125, each glass was impressive. We ended up purchasing two bottles of Chardonnay which I was surprised how much I liked since I normally like Sauvignon Blanc. Such a great experience. A must try...

Bobby B.

Yelp
My GF and I have always enjoyed our tastings at Alpha Omega. The entire staff is welcoming, the venue is beautiful and the outdoor lounging area opposite the fountains very comfortable. However...this past Sunday 2/9/2025 was the best ever thanks to our fabulous host Carl! We will return throughout the coming months and request Carl every time! Sincerely, Brian and Mele Walnut Creek

Maya R.

Yelp
This is easily one of my favorite wineries! The grounds are stunning, and the staff is welcoming and attentive. They offer valet parking, and the staff was always ready to refill our water, provide more crackers, and pour our next tasting. The tastings ranged from $75 to $125, but each glass was delicious. We ended up purchasing four bottles of wine, which waived our tasting fee. Bonus: the winery is dog-friendly!
google avatar

Yelp
The wine is so wonderful. Just go. Don't hesitate but I would go around sunset because the luminescence from the fountains make it hard to see anything if you go during the day and want pictures

Yelp
Awesomely designed winery that really delivers on the Napa Valley experience! So well designed and apportioned winery with a great entertaining space. We visited for their holiday event. Great catered food featuring amazing desserts , paella, crab reviled eggs and amazing charcuterie. The music was also great. The red wine, especially the famed Era, was great...although too pricey for my liking. The charity toy drive was inspired.

Yelp
Ambiance Grounds are beautiful. Outdoor seating, weather was perfect. Customer Service It was ok. Two servers pouring wine, really did not mingle with entire group. Charcuterie Underwhelming. Cheese and almonds that's it. Wines Tasted 4 wines. Cabernet Franc was my favorite.

Yelp
My fiancé and I stopped here for our Napa winery visit. We did a reservation in advance. The reservation did not require paying ahead-- and we selected the type of tasting upon arrival/seating. This winery will waive one tasting for the purchase of two wine bottles. The wines were fantastic. I will say definitely on the pricier side 100%. We felt like it was a little sales-y. We still left with bottles with the intention of holding them for the holidays. Our wine helper was great-- he explained everything and let us try wines we were interested in purchasing of course. He also let me try different wines when I wasn't interested in the tasting menu as much. From a southern Californian perspective, the whole reservation process and intimate experience was a bit weird for me. I'm used to a different atmosphere where you can simply walk in and it not be awkward during your tasting. The entire wine valley up here was on that reservation side. This one was less awkward for sure but I think it depends on who gets assigned to your tasting experience. Ours was great he gave us tips and tricks to approach the valley and his personal opinions. Will we return? Absolutely. The wines are so so good. If you're looking for a good introduction to Napa wine country this is a GREAT place to start. We're excited to open the bottles during the holidays! Thanks alpha omega

Yelp
8/19/23 Napa Valley Alpha Omega Winery, just a quick stop, no reservations. We rolled in at about noon & we were greeted & directed to the area to park for guests without reservations. It's a small vineyard and I read that you may visit w/o reservations if you're not intending to the wine tasting or tour. We just wanted to see the grounds & get a feel for it. There were several unoccupied tables in the outdoor patio where we could've been accommodated if we wanted. We walked along the grapevines & noticed it is definitely a small winery. The staff are friendly, not snobs (I was half-expecting that lol). It was was a gorgeous yet minuscule vineyard but I may consider returning given the positive experience so far.

Yelp
The winery's grounds are stunning, featuring beautiful views and a lovely patio with a water feature, plus covered parking. However, the tasting experience was disappointing. Despite reservations, we felt rushed and poorly treated by the staff. The tasting fee, ranging from $75 to $125, can be waived with the purchase of two bottles, but the pours were only 1 oz each of four different wines. Service was lacking--we were hurried to pay, not given time to decide on purchases, and offered no tastes outside the menu. When inquiring about the wine club, we received no clear answer. Additionally, our server recommended a specific wine but didn't offer a pour. Overall, for such a high fee, one would expect a more extensive tasting and better service.

Yelp
*1 Complimentary valet *2 Great views *3 Wonderful Wines John, our wine educator was so personable, we really appreciate his patience with 7 women. The wine tasting is a nice slow paced experience. Recommend for a nice afternoon.

Yelp
We've been club members for quite some time, and as anyone who has ever visited knows, Alpha Omega is one of Napa's most expensive wineries... but, by Jove, is the premium paid worth every cent. Nestled in Rutherford, Alpha Omega offers one of the finest enological experiences in Napa, from the picturesque view of the mountains to the serene reflecting pool and its four jets...oh, and some of the smoothest wine on this planet. Their Era is simply divine, as well as their proprietary blends. Staff are always knowledgeable and courteous and will often let us revisit old favorites. It's sparkling and flat water are offered to cleanse the palate between tastings. No wine offered ever disappoints. This is by far our favorite winery and one to which we bring our most cherished family and friends.

Yelp
My husband and I enjoyed our tasting here. I really liked two of their cabs from their selections. Service was very friendly and they made us feel welcomed.
google avatar

Tansy W.

Yelp
Enjoyed this place! The wine was pretty decent but very expensive. We did the middle tier $100 tasting (4 single AVAs - a Chardonnay and 3 cabs with a bonus Pinot pour bc I said I loved Pinots and a bonus pour of the sleeping lady cab future). Each bottle was about $140-$170, including the Chardonnay ($160). The Chardonnay wasn't bad. I tried both the cheaper first tier ($86) and the second tier ($160). The second was better but couldn't justify the cost. I really enjoyed the Oak Knoll 2020 cab ($170). I bought one bottle of the cheaper Chardonnay ($86) and two of the Oak Knoll cabs - shipping to NY was $30. The $100 tasting fee was waived with a 2-bottle purchase. They also offer a 10% Napa Neighbor discount for locals. Our server Mo was friendly, funny and entertaining. Full of energy and lots of fun. The tasting experience is just outdoor tables overlooking the fountain. Nothing too crazy but it was pretty. Overall, we had a great time!

Yelp
Exceptional experience we had at ALPHA OMEGA with Victor! His upbeat, friendly personality was the highlight of our day! Come to Alpha Omega and ask for VICTOR he will make your experience memorable

Yelp
Greatest winery we've ever visited. Amazing wines, wonderful people and the location is beautiful, to say the least. Kristine was fabulous describing the wines and where each came from and how they were made. Can't wait for our futures deliveries.
google avatar

Austin G.

Yelp
Awesome winery! We had such a great wine tasting experience here. The wine was delicious and the ambiance was fantastic. They don't serve food so make sure you don't show up too hungry. They also have destination chargers free of charge which was a nice added bonus
google avatar

Windy M.

Yelp
One of my favorite winery visit during my trip to Napa. Service was impeccable. Very informative and our sommelier was very generous with the pours. He added a few extra tastings so we can compare side by side. We were running a little late, so he even called out to our restaurant where reservations were made and asked to see if we could push out the reservation. He was very personable. Easy to talk to and super helpful. He was very attentive. We look forward coming back!
google avatar

Janette W.

Yelp
This might be my favorite winery in the Napa Valley. Each wine we tasted was simply perfect and they also brought out some additional tastings. The service was fantastic and the views were beautiful. I highly recommend a visit!
google avatar

Lauren W.

Yelp
Beautiful winery and grounds. For the price point, the wines just aren't there yet. The bottles need another 5-10 in the cellar as they're far too overwhelmingly tannic to taste anything else at this point.

Tate M.

Yelp
We had the most incredible experience at Alpha Omega vineyard! Not only was the scenery stunning, but the wine was the best we have ever had and we had the most incredible service. We were lucky to have Ian as our wine expert and he was incredibly kind, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable about wine. He absolutely made our afternoon and we appreciated his joyful personality and passion for good wine. When I think of a perfect vineyard experience it truly was this and we can't wait for more future visits!
google avatar

Alexa P.

Yelp
AMAZING is all I can say. What a great way to end our trip! Keegan Lee was exceptional. We had a trip and ended this as our last stop and it did not disappoint. The view, the wines and the experience were top tier. A must see if you are in Napa!!

Yelp
The properietary red 2018 and Chradonnay 2018 are 2 of my Alpha Omega wines. I am a member here and couldn't be happier. Visit has always been great too

Yelp
One of the best wine tasting experiences we have ever had in over 20 years of visiting wineries throughout the United States. We owe this wonderful experience to Ian Stout (our wine educator). Big props to Ian who really impressed me with his knowledge of Napa and the wine industry. Our tasting started with a pour of white as we were shown to our comfortable tasting area overlooking the fountains. Ian introduced us to at least 4 whites before we started on what Alpha Omega is most known for, their reds. Tastings were brought to us in new glasses and Ian did not skimp on the pours. Their current release of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Left Bank were very nice but the single vineyard Cabs and ERA stole the show. My favorite single vineyard cab was from the Sleeping Lady Vineyard. This possessed an enchanting nose that stimulated my taste buds to another level. Truth be known, I liked The Sleeping Lady better than the ERA. Don't get me wrong, I am not dissing the ERA because it is outstanding. It just is the Sleeping Lady blew my socks off. Our tasting lasted nearly 3 hours and Ian was a wonderful host. We will always remember our day at Alpha Omega. Good wine, beautiful surroundings, and the best service to be found at any winery in Napa. This is an easy 5 star review.
google avatar

Yelp
Dog friendly winery! *Highly recommend visiting on weekdays to avoid large crowd. We came here on a Wednesday and had an amazing and peaceful tasting experience. We were seated in front of the fountain, overlooking the beautiful vineyard and scenic view. Since we were able to share a tasting, we decided on the Single Vineyard Tasting, which was priced at $125. We both had generous pour for each wine since we were sharing. Service was impeccable. Our host thoroughly explained each wine and gave us enough time to truly enjoy the tasting. To end our lovely experience, we purchased a nice bottle of Chardonnay Reserve. We can't wait to enjoy it. Although our pup couldn't participate in the tasting, he definitely enjoyed the vibe and ambiance :)
google avatar

Jinnie L.

Yelp
Full disclosure my review is partially biased because our sommelier, Travis Grimm, is knowledgeable and a foodie! He was fun, attentive, great sense of humor, and generous with the pours. My friends and I celebrated our 40th birthday in Napa and I am so happy that Alpha Omega was one of our wine tasting spots. The outdoor seating area is gorgeous and the bathrooms are well kept. Note: the tasting and wines are on the expensive side, but I felt that for the flavours and exclusivity, it was worth every dime. They give you crackers to enjoy with the wine, but don't expect other charcuterie. He showed us a cool decanter and also told us the story of the owners. He gave us pointers on what the wine would go well with and his personal experience of foraging which was interesting since my group of friends are foodies as well. Needless to say the experience was wondering and we purchased a case of wine. I plan to return with a smaller group or maybe to celebrate an anniversary.

Yelp
Personally as an avid wine drinker, AO has some pretty good wine. They are higher in price point compared to some other wineries, with their tastings ranging from 75 - 125 pp though. None of the wines really stood out to me, however they were all consistently good. We did signature tasting and it was def worth it. The staff were also all welcoming and extremely knowledgeable. I love the ambiance of this place along with how dog friendly it was. They brought a treat and water bowel for my dog on a hot day. As you can see in the photo, she loved this place too!
google avatar

Carolina B.

Yelp
Absolutely lovely time with our group! The deal we got for buying wines and tastings came out super in favor for us--we all got 3 bottles "worth" approximately $75-85 per bottle, with tastings... for $80ish per person. And they're delicious too! Love the outdoor space with the fountain. Gorgeous property.
google avatar

Elle Y.

Yelp
This place is gorgeous and the wines were amazing. We requested a seat in front of the fountain when making reservations and we got the perfect seat. All the seats had umbrellas and shade. This made our experience even better. We did the curated selection and Single Vineyard Tasting so we can try more. The Cabernet Sauvignons were my favorite from the tastings and I enjoyed the Single Vineyard wines over the curated if I had to pick a tasting. The service by Lisa was great. She was personable and went through each wine offering explaining in detail the notes and the vines. We were not rushed at all and enjoyed taking our time and taking in the beautiful scenery. She even gave us tastings of other wines not in the list. Overall, we enjoyed the wines and the experience so much that we signed up to be a club member!

Yelp
Victor is a hero!!! We are so grateful. We came up to Napa from San Luis Obispo, where we're members at a sister winery. From the moment we pulled up, everyone treated us like family - radiating warmth, generosity, compassion and humility. We didn't have reservations and the tasting room was full, but even still - they took care of us absolutely no problem! Victor sat us down inside their absolutely gorgeous tasting room, presented us with a menu and asked what we wanted to try! The whole menu was an option! We tasted some of the AO reds and they were all absolutely incredible. Easily some of the best in Napa, without question! Victor is an absolute star. He was incredibly kind, sharing with us a history of Napa, asking us about ourselves, checking in so regularly. With Napa becoming increasingly stiff and corporate, this experience was polished and incredible on ALL FRONTS but also so down to earth, kind and human. Thank you!!!
google avatar

Love K.

Yelp
An extra star for the views but the tastings at Alpha Omega are pitiful. We made reservations for a large group and paid over $100 per person for 4 tastings. We asked if they offered charcuterie but were told they do not have a license to serve food. They could only offer crackers and some almonds. We then asked if we could purchase some bottles to drink with our tastings and they declined. It seems like they only offer tastings and view. Nothing more. My friends, who are members at this winery, have had more of a positive review of this place. It seems like they do treat their members differently than their visitors. It's a hard pass on this winery.
google avatar

Josh B.

Yelp
Great winery for a tasting. Awesome terrace with fountain views. I only wish they had food pairings with the wine. Ask for Kegan! He's knowledgeable and an overall great somelier. Can't wait to attend their annual lobster boil!

Marc M.

Yelp
Vibes were great. Beautiful views. Great wine. Great service. We came early without reservation and were able to get a tasting with front row seating. They even charged our car while we there. Great service from victor and tasting fee was waived when we joined the wine club. They even brought out crayons for our kid to color and let her let the horse
google avatar

Nathan H.

Yelp
An overall great experience. The grounds were beautiful with amazing views anywhere you look. We sat right next to the water feature with the Napa hills in the background. The wine was excellent and our server Ian was top notch. Ian knew everything about AO wine and also everything Napa related. The wine itself was our favorite Cab we tried in Napa. Pricey, but clearly it because it's high quality.
google avatar

Ryan T.

Yelp
They didn't want our money and was turned away. Need to do a better job at treating new customers fairly.

Martin P.

Yelp
Scheduled wine tasting today with wife and daughter. Temps hit 98 degrees, and staff did a remarkable job of catering to us despite power outage (not their fault). Got to taste a couple of great wines, before offering us option to bail on tasting, along with a complimentary bottle of wine! Our server Jojo was incredible (only 3 weeks in, and seemed like a veteran!). There's a reason this winery is all about the experience (along with fabulous wines in a beautiful setting). This is why we come here and will continue coming!
google avatar

Keith W.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, good wine, and our server was amazing...so detailed and passionate about the area. Jojo killed it! Highly recommend
google avatar

Ray O.

Yelp
With $50 as the cheapest option for tasting, you should be treated better. We showed up on a Monday at 11:30AM for a tasting and asked to sit outside, I was told every spot is reserved or for members. I went outside and counted over 25 empty spots (pictured) which stayed empty until we left at 1:00PM. Why would I become a member or refer this place when you treat people so poorly unless they pay you thousands of dollars for some wine you can get anywhere else.
google avatar

Rain Bow T.

Yelp
Honestly this was a great Napa spot to stop and do a winetasting. It was really nice for our group of seven because so many places were only allowing group sizes of four. The sommelier who did our tasting was very knowledgeable and went over all the options with us. The wine was some of my favorite that I had on my trip to Napa and I actually brought a few bottles home. One of the pricier vineyards but honestly very up to par with most of the Napa wineries as they are pretty pricey in general. A little bit off the beaten path but not too far and there are plenty of wineries to stop on before or after in the area. You can also get a pretty good view of the Napa wine train coming and going so that was me as well.
google avatar

Alicia A.

Yelp
Come see what a great place this is. Service wines views so beautiful. Have fun! ....

LM G.

Yelp
Pretty place, good wine - but - & we know accidents happen - red wine was accidentally spilled all over my tan pants & feet. With a $1300 purchase, we fully anticipated some type of compensation, but management offered none. You can go, but wear your overalls & boots - it's not high-end in terms of management's concern.

Jenna S.

Yelp
We had an amazing experience here doing an outdoor tasting with a view of the beautiful fountains. Gabe was very attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly!
google avatar

Kevin L.

Yelp
We are a club member here at Alpha Omega and they have the best wine and tasting room. When the weather is nice, sitting in their tasting room overlooking the fountain is a magical experience. We have always requested Travis and he is amazing.

Jessica K.

Yelp
Price is worth the hype. John was our host and he was absolutely fantastic!! The views and grounds are gorgeous and the wines are excellent!! A great stop if you're in the area.

Yelp
I was really excited about checking this place out as it has been on my list for quite some time. The property is beautiful and I was able to get reservations pretty easy. They were also accommodating to my reschedule request. And they're baby friendly. Pretty hard to find in Napa. The tastings are $75-$100 pp for 4 wines. They only require half the party to purchase tastings and you get 1 tasting fee waived with every 2 bottle purchase. I came here on a Thursday and it was very crowded. It was however, during Bottle Rock and Memorial Day weekend. Our host was very nice, but it seemed like he was managing multiple tables and as a result, service was very slow. He was late to join our table and didn't really explain the wines. We also had to wait a while for our next pours. It basically felt like an outdoor wine bar. We were seated outdoors in the far corner right in front of the fountains. I thought it was nice to be seated front row for the views, but we constantly felt a mist from the wind blowing the fountain water towards us. Not a pleasant experience.
google avatar

Anita D.

Yelp
We were so excited to try this place since we had passed it multiple times. Both stars are solely for ambience, which is great! But, the tasting was super expensive ($75 for 4 wines - 2 whites and 2 reds), the service was slow, and the wines were mediocre at best. On top of that, it was not busy, but we waited at least 20 minutes between each pour and our server forgot one altogether until we reminded him. We were hoping for an extra pour at the very least or something "extra" for that price, but there was nothing. We are glad we can cross this off our list, but probably wouldn't come back.

Anandita S.

Yelp
We are so impressed. This place totally went out of the way to accommodate my kids and my family. The waiter Ean is a sweetheart. He is very knowledgeable and very sweet. We will Definitely we coming back and recommending our friends.

Yelp
Party of six here. Had a FABULOUS experience with Ian at the helm. He was funny, knowledgeable, and my favorite type in Napa = relaxed. Not stuffy. Excellent wines. Available for questions and over the top with hospitality.

Yelp
Top quality wine, ambiance and fabulous service! Always a pleasure to visit. I have been a wine club member since their opening!
