A Boulder-local friend of ours suggested that THIS should be the coffee shop we visit while we were in town; you should always listen to the locals! This place had that trendy, aesthetic mountain vibe that you crave for Instagram-worthy shots, and what's better, everything was delicious.
We went for "brunch" on a Friday mid-morning. It was pretty busy when we arrived, and honestly the only reason I've dinged a star is because of the counter service. Having worked in the service industry myself, I know how little effort it takes to simply acknowledge that you know someone's waiting for your attention, and to quickly say "Hey, thanks for waiting! I'll be with you in just a sec!" I completely understand that prepping drinks is time-consuming, and I'm happy to wait, but we stood, at the actual register, un-acknowledged for a good 5 minutes. Under different circumstances (not highly recommended by a friend we were visiting, or if we were local and knew other options in the area, etc.), I likely would've walked out. :/
Minor inconvenience, and again, I understand being in their shoes. We obviously stuck it out, and the food and drinkies made up for it!
Salmon Tartine 4/5 :: if it's on the menu, my husband will always order anything salmon-and-lox-esque, and he really liked this rendition! Thick, "good bread" piled high with smoked salmon, topped with pickled onions, dill and chives and drizzle of EVOO.
Avo Tartine 4/5 :: I opted to add the six-minute egg, which sat next to a lemony avocado rough-mash sprinkled with paprika and radish slices on another slice of "good bread."
Cortado 5/5 :: (equal parts espresso and milk) served in trendy glassware. Espresso was smooth and balanced.
The weather was great, so we sat outside, and also enjoyed a kouign amann and morning bun, which we let sit in the sun to get toasty warm before eating :)
Thank you, come again? Yeah! If we're ever in the area again, though I do hope to have better service next time.
