Alpine Village Inn

We have been coming to Blowing Rock for over six years, and our heart broke a little when the historic Green Park Inn was demolished—it was our long-time go-to. Since then, we’ve stayed at Cliff Dwellers, but this weekend we decided to try something completely new and booked the Alpine Village Inn. Honestly? We should have tried this sooner! After fighting atrocious Friday traffic, this place was exactly the mountain oasis we needed. The room has a wonderful, clean, 'retro-chic' feel. Our room is a sunny yellow and feels more like a guest house than a motel. The fireplace was our non-negotiable for a “ 40-degree and lower” February weekend, and it does not disappoint. It’s the perfect spot to thaw out. The location is one you cannot beat being right in the heart of the village. We can leave the car parked and just enjoy being 'local' for a few days. It’s hard to find a new 'favorite' after six years of traditions, but Alpine Village Inn just claimed the top spot on our list!

Love this hotel and this city. This hotel is extremely clean and the owners are very kind. I've stayed there several times throughout the last few years and have had good conversations with them before. I stayed again this past weekend and had a late arrival but they left a key out for us. When we left they expressed their gratitude for us staying with them. The place is very quiet and within walking distance of good restaurants and shopping.

We celebrated a co worker's retirement! The best weekend ever!! We ate dinner at the Best Cellar just one block away! Our rooms were beautiful & spotless ! Alpine Village is so conveniently located at all restaurants and shopping!! Our home away from home!!

Room was nicely decorated. Loved turning on the fireplace first thing in the morning to quickly warm up the room. Big TV with excellent pre-programming. Location was perfect and Charles/Cathy were delightful hosts. Bed was great as were the pillows. Especially liked the coffee maker, fridge, microwave and huge jet tub! I will come back next year with my sister.

Awesome place to stay when visiting Blowing Rock! Stayed there 10+times over the past few years. For us.. we appreciate the great service... being dog friendly... and what an awesome location. We also love the Gazebo to hang out in the evening to enjoy the weather and a beverage outside.

Great location and only a block to downtown. Stayed mid November and the price was very reasonable and room was very clean. Very nice couple and they gave us helpful tips on where to eat. Cute and comfortable room. Cute picture of their dogs.

Family owned for decades. Wonderful owners and attention to details for everything. It's located in the center of town and a short walk to everything. The grounds are beautiful, it's a bit of an oasis in the center of Blowing Rock. Also motorcycle touring friendly ! I have been staying here for over 15 years. Always welcomed back.

always a great, welcoming experience at the Alpine Inn. Been there 10+ times over the past few years and good. Fabulous location for enjoying downtown Blowing Rock. Love that they are pet friendly so i could bring my two cavaliers. Staff is always so accommodating. Highly recommend

Location is the biggest plus. Our upstairs room featured a lack of steady water pressure. Alas, found out in mid-shower. Host said that happens when they are busy and multiple people shower - known issue. Second day took shower early to avoid the rush, same problem. Welcomes dogs, nice. But limits dog bathroom area to a very small patch of mostly dirt or mud when rainy. The small parking area encumbered with trailers of different sorts. Hosts friendly and dog owners. Needs a little work around the edges. Not a fan of full time residents in an inn setting. Location is its biggest point. Clutter everywhere- old frig units, odds and ends. Not quite horder level but still.

One of my favorite places to stay ever! Tried a smaller room and larger room ~ both were nice! Everyone is friendly and helpful and the resident dogs Archie and Hank are friendly! A vibrant, clean, cozy, comfortable! Anyplace with so many rocking chairs and flowers is also A+ in my book!

Very quaint and close enough to downtown Blowing Rock to walk everywhere. Even wen for a hike to see waterfalls.

Although the person at the front desk was super nice, the people next door to me was very noisy. I called the front desk, he called them, but eventually there was loud tv and conversations. If you are looking for a peaceful night, try a regular hotel with good insulation like big name hotels is Boone. this Village here looks pretty nice, but all inns are old and you may risk the same situation, BAD sleep.

I booked the Alpine Village Inn for a weekend trip with my dog and a friend because they had a room available and it was dog-friendly. I've become accustomed to taking what I can get when traveling with my dog, but this place was the most pleasant of surprises! It was clean, modern, CLEAN, reasonably priced, and within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and bars. What's more, the owners and staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The grounds were gorgeous with sitting areas, a gazebo, and a pond all among a beautiful flower garden. The bed/mattress was comfy. The standard room was small, but we were there to see Blowing Rock, not the hotel. The bathroom was tiny, but seemed to have been recently remodeled. If you're looking for a lot of space, this is probably not a good fit. Otherwise, I recommend the Alpine Village Inn to anyone, dog or no dog!

The Alpine Village Inn is one of our family's favorite places to stay in Blowing Rock. Situated on Sunset, it's a quick walk up to Main Street where there are shops and restaurants. The owners are warm and have a friendly staff. We arrived late on a Friday and the key was waiting for us in the office. The rooms are cutely decorated, some in country theme decor. They are pet friendly, which is a plus if you want to bring your fur babies to the mountains. I enjoy walking around their grounds where they have an assortment of flowers and plants to admire that surround a centralized gazebo.

The location is great - just a short walking distance from pretty much anything in the heart of Blowing Rock. The room itself was also nicely decorated and seemed like it had been recently remodeled. The bed was comfortable enough and everything you'd expect in terms of linens, coffee, etc. was included in the room. I liked the fact that each room had it's own private entrance along with two rocking chairs on the front porch - a cute touch! The only issue I had with this hotel/room was the noise level. My Queen room was an appropriate size but upon check in I could hear the conversation of two people in the room next door loud and clear. Same goes for the movies they were watching throughout the night. Thankfully I brought ear buds just in case, but had it not been for that this would have been a much more difficult stay. Bottom line - would be happy to stay again, but definitely bring something to block out the noise if you're a light sleeper (or just want peace and quiet).

My husband and I have stayed here 2-3 times in the last few years and would never stay any where else while in Blowing Rock. The owners, Charlie and Katherine are terrific and always make us feel like family. The rooms are quaint and extremely clean, while the staff is friendly and accommodating above and beyond. We bring our dog with no worries, and the i can't say enough about charlie green thumb. It is our happy place while in our happy place. Thanks for everything Charlie and Katherine, see you soon

Very impressed! Clean room, quiet, comfy bed, very nice and helpful owner. They accept dogs for $10 (unlike the $50-75 larger hotels rob you for) and you can tell the owners are dog lovers. The room was small with a refrigerator and coffee maker. Bathroom had great soap amenities (Paul Mitchell tea tree) and the shower was a small stall. The only complaint I have is the hot water in the shower was tricky. Took a very long time and we had to play with which way to turn the knob. But once we got it, the shower was fine. Highly recommend!

Very nice little inn. Had drinks on front porch. Very pooch friendly, big field across the street. Owners were very helpful and accommodating. 2 minute walk to Main Street. We'll be back.

Have stayed here a few different times over the past few years and was told cheaper rate when booking; at check out was told higher price to pay. This happened on two different occasions. When it was called to the attention of the man that runs the place he was extremely defensive and rude. Tried calling to his attention that there must be a communication breakdown in his office. A simple, "I'm sorry, that should have never happened" was what should have been said. Never happened. He proceeded to get more and more angry and began yelling at us. I was appalled at his attitude. I would never recommend staying here. This guy has no clue as to how to run a business. The rooms are small as well and very outdated.

On July 5, 2018 I made a reservation on Hotels.com for the Alpine Village Inn in Blowing Rock, NC for the weekend of January 25, 2019. This is the town's "WinterFest" event weekend and, knowing we always attend, I booked the rate of $178.14 for two nights. Approximately 2 weeks ago, I started getting calls from a Blowing Rock phone number and finally, a message, from someone named Katherine asking me to call the hotel immediately. I tried several times to return the call, however, no message inbox was setup for the number she instructed me to call. On or about 1/7/2019, she reached out to me on the Hotels.com site through their messaging platform asking me to "call the hotel". Again, I did, couldn't leave a message. I sent a message back through Hotels.com asking what the problem was. She replied again with "Call the hotel". Yesterday, 1/10/2019 we finally connected, and she told me that Hotels.com shouldn't have made the reservation and that despite me having a confirmation from Hotels.com that they didn't have the room I reserved. She also told me the pet fee, which Hotels.com had listed at $10 per pet per night, was actually $75 (I've since looked at other third-party sites and all are showing their pet fee as $10 per night, per pet with max of two pets). She told me she had a Queen Room for Saturday night only and that she would honor my rate for that night, however, the room wasn't pet friendly. She would be willing to help me try to find another place to stay for Friday night but obviously I'd have to pay the going rate. (remember, the event I'm attending is in two weeks, so any remaining rooms are obviously at inflated rates at this point). Katherine acted as though I had made the mistake by booking with Hotels.com and when I told her I would call Hotels.com to see what could be done I was told "They won't do anything and you're only going to get to talk to someone in India". She continued with a story about how they are a small, family run business and that she must work two jobs and that these third-party sites bait and switch all the time, this is just what happens when you book with them. It almost seems like this establishment is using the third-party sites to get potential customers contact information, then reaching out to them to get them to cancel their reservation and book directly through the hotel or (which I'm assuming happened here) refusing to honor a reservation when they know they can get more from someone else now that rates are inflated. Regardless, Katherine disingenuously pointed the blame at the third-party sites and was extremely unconcerned that I, as her customer, was essentially being punished for booking early to attend an event that we've attended annually for years. We mostly likely won't be able to find a room at this point, and if we do, we'll be paying a premium for it. If you're considering a stay at Alpine Village Inn, I would advise you to stay at another location in Blowing Rock. She mentioned they have a sister property, so when you book another hotel, be sure they aren't affiliated with Alpine Village Inn unless you're up for having the rug pulled out from under you with just two weeks to go before an event. This is most likely the worst and most experience I've ever had with a hotel and the service and explanations provided by Katherine we just prevarications. I have reported this to Hotels.com and hope they will investigate and share with other third-party sites with my experience. There appears to be something very deceptive going on and customers are the victims.

Can't recommend this place enough! So cute and the staff members are incredibly friendly and made us feel so welcome. The decor in the rooms is just lovely. We loved being able to walk to the downtown area with everything so close by. Make sure to walk next door to have breakfast at The New Public House! (Important to note this restaurant closes at noon and don't open again until dinner time! So make sure to get up early enough to walk over for breakfast. :) Staying here just made our weekend! Thank you!!!!

This was exactly what we were looking for a while in Blowing Rock. Allowed pets, friendly service, and a quaint little rooms. I highly, highly recommend staying here if you are traveling with a pet. The front desk clerk, Ellie, was a great hostess and told us about a delicious restaurant called Foggy Rocks right up the road.

Affordable mid-week rates and a clean sweet little motor inn style lodging. Nothing fancy but it has everything you need for a nice stay in Blowing Rock. I like that it's pet friendly and the proprietors are very nice and helpful. They only downside for me was the bathroom which would only accommodate a hobbit size person (which would be me but not my husband!). The bathroom in our particular room was TINY. Aside from that we had a wonderful stay.

You will like this place if you like furnishings and accessories that appear to have come from flea markets. If you like bathrooms that are 36" wide, this is your spot. Mattresses go with the furniture. First night, at 9:45, we had a wet spot on the sheets when we uncovered the bed. Tried to get the management by phone five times over the next 30 minutes. No luck. Had to sleep with a plastic grocery bag over the spot all night. Next morning they told us the spot was from the maids setting their mop bucket on the bed while vacumming the carpet. They grumpily gave us half off that night's stay.

Beautiful room. Friendly helpful staff. We'll stay here every trip to the Blueridge Parkway!

Great location. Walking distance to plenty of shops and restaurants. The proprietors are warm and friendly. The grounds are immaculate. There is a lovely gazebo to sit on with a nice view. The rooms are smaller than some hotels but they are comfortable and spotless. We only had time for an overnight stay but this is on our list of places to return to on a regular basis. One of the other guest I spoke with said they stay here 2 or 3 times a year. That speaks volumes.

We love this place. It's not fancy but it's super clean and the owners are incredibly nice and accomodating. We also love the fact that we can bring our dogs. You can walk to everything and the owners are happy to make reservations for you.

A cute little inn that is a short walk from downtown. The rooms were very cozy and the beds are comfortable! (The fireplace in the room was awesome!) The family that runs it was very nice and check in and out was hassle free. They are pet friendly and our dogs loved it. We will definitely be back.

To be fully transparent, I have not stayed at the Alpine Village Inn, but I have family in Blowing Rock and was visiting with my wife and 17 month old daughter to plan my brother's bachelor party. We were eating dinner at the New Public House near the Alpine Village Inn when my daughter needed a break from the restaurant. To spare the other diners, I took her outside. We went to the empty grassy area in front of the Alpine Village Inn (on a Tuesday) where we played for about 11 minutes. She pointed at the flowers, she jumped in the air, and we sat in the chairs. Once we were in the chairs, a manager (or someone representing the hotel) came over to ask if he could help us. I said no, that we were fine. He then asked if we were staying at the hotel. I said no, that we were eating next door and just playing while my family settled up. He then told me the area was for guest only and to leave. I asked if he was serious and he said it wasn't a park and to "get out". The Alpine Village Inn may be great, but that experience was very telling. Especially juxtaposed with the waiter from the New Public House who chased us across the parking lot to return a sippy cup. I'd check out the Homestead or Hemlock Inns on Morris St. both of which were great to work with on the bachelor party.
