Alquimia - Laboratorio

"An interesting gourmet option in the centre of the city, located at the foot of the emblematic Santa María de La Antigua church, one of the indisputable icons of Valladolid architecture. The restaurant, preceded by a terrace that is almost always full of university students, features a contemporary yet informal gastro-bar (Crisol) where you can order the daily menu as well as fun dishes designed for sharing. The restaurant’s so-called gastronomic space, with its open-view kitchen and decorative details inspired by the molecular cuisine that has lent the restaurant the second half of its name, is the domain of Alvar Hinojal. His culinary skill shines forth on three bold and creative tasting menus (Noradrenalina, Serotonina and Dopamina) on which every mouthful is full of delicious surprises." - Michelin Inspector

The restaurant is very cosy and the staff is very friendly and it's always with a smile. The interior room where the Laboratorio is located is modern, small and a bit dark since there are no windows to outside what make the atmosphere more gloomy. But it's well illuminated and the tables and cutlery are very fun and unique. The menu experience is amazing, all the food comes without any rush, the staff explain every dish and everything is full of flavour. We pick the Dopamine menu and I would say it's a lot! If you don't eat good I would say the Serotonina should be sufficient. As always when you try this kind of experience some dishes you like more others less but overall as liked all. The ingredients were fresh and there was a lot of different textures. Also the transitions between the differents parts of the meal were very well done. It's was an amazing experience

Visited at the bar zone (Crisol). Most dishes were delicious, combining flavors and trends from many places around the world. Deserves more than one visit!

Had originally visited for the 5 course lunch menu and afterwards did the traveller menu a couple of times. This evening I did the seratonina menu and it was fantastic. I also had the wine pairing and Patricia did a fantastic job. Service was attentive and charming. Having dined in many starred restaurants (as well as having worked for many years in starred restaurants), I have nothing but good things to say for Alquimia. Keep up the good work!

I loved this place. We tried the serotonina menu (54 EUR), which had 18 pasos. It was innovative, delicious and well worth the price. The place is casual, not too fancy. the service is very good.

Menu Dopamine was amazing and a really good deal. We left very full and happy from that 3hr15 experience. Very innovative dishes. Unfortunately, I don’t enjoy sour tasting food and it seemed a lot of them were sour but that’s ok because the other dishes made up for it. The carabinero was mind blowing, hands down the best I’ve ever had. I am going back to this restaurant just to have that. English was also very well spoken by our waiter. My only complaint is they were not responsive to emails.

After three days of searching for a restaurant which did more than tapas in the evening we found this one and were talking into having the 7 course tasting menu (effectively more tapas!) Glad we did the courses were varied, tasty and excellent and explained in detail by the waiter even though we had no Spanish. The menu was €32 each and the wine selected was good and very inxpensive at a few euros per glass even though the restaurant does have bottles running into four figures. Well worth a visit if you're in Valladolid, although as per usual here you'll have to wait for it to open at 2030.

Incredible! 100% recomendable. The staff is even better than the food and the food is indescribable. Lovely, lovely people. We had the best time celebrating our anniversary and hope to be back soon. Thanks so much for everything ❤️ If you’re in Valladolid (or Spain!) don’t miss this place.

Today we came here for lunch. Absolutely fantastic. They were so helpful with recommendations with food and wine. All of them were so kind and informative with every aspect of the menu!
