I recently stopped by for a quick lunch and decided to try their burgers, having heard they were pretty good. The deli itself has a nice, classic vibe, but the staff were not very helpful. The selection of sandwiches and other deli items looked promising, and the place was clean.
However, the burgers were where things went a bit sideways. I ordered a supreme chicken sandwich ($11.00) w/fries ($3.00) and a Al’s burger ($11.50) cheese ($.70) and fries ($3.00), and while they were undeniably tasty – juicy, fresh toppings, and a decent bun – the price felt exorbitant. I was shocked when the total came to $29.20. For two basic burgers? That's pushing restaurant prices, not deli prices.
The burgers were good, I won't deny that. But at that price point, I expected something truly exceptional, something that would justify the cost. They were good, not "wow."
Essentially, I felt like I paid a premium for a standard deli burger. If the prices were more in line with what I'd expect from a deli, I'd happily give them a solid 5 stars. The quality was there, but the value wasn't.
Pros:
* Tasty burgers with fresh ingredients.
* Clean and classic deli atmosphere.
Cons:
* Overpriced burgers.
* Value for money is questionable.
If you're willing to splurge on a decent burger, Al’s Deli might be worth a try. But if you're on a budget, you might want to consider finding a more reasonably priced burger elsewhere.
