Your Guide To Breakfast in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"I've known Al's Donuts as a long-running fixture serving UNLV and the Strip since April 1973; their East Harmon location has shuttered, leaving fans to head to the Centennial location for their twists on 'kronuts,' 'Krossants,' apple fritters and cinnamon rolls. I saw their work around town—Al's provided doughnuts to Cafe Presse at the Venetian and the Silver Sevens Casino & Hotel and was the doughnut supplier for the El Cortez coffee shop—and their menu also included bagels, sandwiches, coffees and teas. In recent years they gained notoriety for the Krossant, a culinary merging of a croissant and a doughnut." - Eater Staff

Al's Donuts

Google
We visited Al’s in search of donuts for my son’s birthday. I mentioned that I planned to stack them to create a cake, and the staff kindly informed me that they also make donut numbers. Since a new batch was about to be prepared, they offered to create number-shaped donuts, ready within a few hours. They turned out beautifully and tasted just as amazing as they looked. We also picked up some apple fritters—my husband’s favorite—and he said they were among the best he’s ever had. I would highly recommend Al’s to anyone! We will definitely be back!

Wow!! My husband had had surgery the day before, and we had heard that this was the place to go in plainfield if you wanted a really good donut!! We were running errands in plainfield and decided to stop.. Great customer service, friendly...the Bismark rivaled " Biffs" and that's saying alot ...for those of you that remember the iconic Biffs you know what I'm talking about!! I didn't even know they served biscuits and gravy..half and full orders....it was the best ever breakfast meal...thank you so much💓💞💕

Google
This place is amazing!!! My husband and I are donut fanatics and we were on the search for the best donuts in our area...we have tried pana, parlor, jacks, longs, and others!!! Well, we can tell you, Al's chocolate chip donut is THE BEST we have ever had!!! They are truly so soft and fluffy and just amazing in taste and quality. The customer service was also amazing, the man there filled our donuts for us right there in the shop!!! It was truly such a good experience and we are so excited to go back!!!

This place is a gem! If I lived in Indiana, I would come here atleast once a week. The owner is so so sweet and the donut was delicious. I got the Cinnabon with fluff and a Coke, and it was less than $5.00. Next time I am in town, I will definitely be back!

Google
Awesome owners, delicious donuts and breakfast sandwiches. The new hours are awesome for someone who likes fresh donuts but also likes to sleep in. Can’t wait to try all the new offerings!

Google
Kind, helpful employees!!!! They have delicious coffees and a yummy cold green tea drink! All their donuts are delicious, but my favorite are the raspberry and blueberry jelly filled! 10/10. Al’s is a Plainfield Gem!

Google
I've lived in Plainfield my whole life but never visited Als. I got myself a dozen for me and my grandpa (I already ate one lol) and these are so much better than anything you'd get at a place like Dunkin. Definitely will be returning in the future! Also the new owner is so nice and sweet. Go in some time and try some of their delicious treats! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Google
I typically don’t leave reviews, but my goodness this was too good not to. The donuts are made fresh throughout the day, when I got there at 8:30 they had just brought out a fresh batch of maple iced donuts, I snagged one and it was simply perfect, could not have been better. I also tried their ham cheese and jalapeño roll, it was delicious also. I hope they keep doing what they are doing because my lord it is good stuff.

Yelp
Finally caught them open! My wife and I go biking in Plainfield and never manage to catch Al's open. We did today! Apparently they are under new ownership and have expanded their hours. I think she said they are shooting for 5 am to 4 pm, or something like that. The girl who helped us was very sweet and helpful. We were actually shocked at how good the donuts were. We are pretty picky and don't care for most donuts in in Indy. These donuts were great. We got a jelly filled and a buttermilk, which I haven't had in forever. The buttermilk was dense and lightly sweet. Not that overload of sugar like a lot of donuts. My wife raved over the jelly filled. Cute store and great donuts. We are definitely stopping by next bike ride.

Yelp
I came into Al's Donuts a little later in the day so I got a whole mixed bag of treats! Rapid review: Maple frosted and chocolate frosted donuts: the donut is nice and fluffy and the frosting is rich and sweet. Yum! Croissant: this was a really good croissant that was very pillowy and I think even lightly glazed. Apple fritter: a nice dense treat with lots of apple chunks and cinnamon. This was my favorite of the bunch and I didn't even plan on ordering it at first! No pictures since I was in a rush. We were the only ones in there since it was the end of the day. The interior doesn't have any seating that I really noticed and it's otherwise your typical mom and pop shop style inside. Cool murals on the outside of the building!
google avatar

Nichole E.

Yelp
Small "mom & pop" store with a really nice staff and the best apple fritter I've ever had.

Yelp
Stopped into Al's for the first time this morning, even though it's been there 60+ years and I've driven past hundreds of times. Just lucked out and happened to be in downtown Plainfield today when the "Open" sign was on! My kids and I picked out a variety of donuts- some standard (you might want 2...), some enormous (1 was definitely enough)! Pricing was very fair (we got 6 assorted regular and fancy/filled for around $13), and I appreciate that credit cards are now accepted. The staff who assisted us were very friendly, and they still had a good selection at 7:45AM on a Tuesday. With such great donuts, friendly staff, and a cute old downtown Main Street location, I can definitely see how they've been around so long.

Yelp
We were on our way out of town & decided to stop at Al's! I had never heard of this shop & was excited as soon as we pulled up. This place looks like a scene out of an old movie. It was absolutely adorable. I did not expect them to have seating, but they did! We were helped by a gentleman that had been there all night preparing donuts & he was so kind! (We were there at 6 am) We grabbed a dozen donuts & I will say I cannot recall the exact donut I tried, but I remember it being delicious. Everyone was impressed by the texture & flavors of the donuts. If you're ever in Plainfield or passing through, this shop is worth a stop!

Chad B.

Yelp
Cinnamon crumble donut was very good , quick service and very freshly made you can tell.

Yelp
Under New Management but still handmade and homemade with love! Open Thursday thru Sunday from 3am-11am

Yelp
Wednesday morning, I was driving in Plainfield in the wee hours of the morning and saw a sign for "Al's Donuts." Being a donut fanatic, what was I to do other than stop in. I rustled up some cash and walked in with enough to get three donuts. I ordered the glazed yeast - as it is the one donut I use to compare all donut shops. For the next two I grabbed the seasonal "Apple Cinnamon" and asked Al to pick my final one - he picked cake with chocolate icing. Glazed seemed okay, but not the best. The Apple Cinnamon was much better and the chocolate cake was out of this world good! For the first time I am ranking a donut shop on a cake donut. So so good that my mouth is still watering :) Notes: I don't think they accept credit cards There is parking in the back There are seats inside if you want to sit
google avatar

Keith S.

Yelp
The doughnuts were old and hard, probably won't be back, threw half a dozen away not what I expected from a donut shop
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
It's been a long while since I've been here. Planning on visiting again. Last time donuts were good, hate paying cash but was worth it at the time.
google avatar

Erin K.

Yelp
Al's is a staple is Plainfield. Every time we are there the service is great and the donuts are even better! The same guy is there every time we've been there and he is always so kind. The cinnamon roll is huge and just as delicious! This is definitely a place to visit! We

Logan M.

Yelp
Despite the recent reviews, my co-worker and I decided to pop in and try out the place. I had the pancake and a glazed donut. Nothing but positive things about that, and the staff was very nice and service was quick. Any time I'm back in Plainfield I'll be stopping in every Thursday and Friday
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
Best locally owned business in town. They are simple and delicious. The apple spice donut is hands down the best donut I've ever had. And yes, they ARE open. You just gotta get there before 9. The earlier the better. They sell out quick!
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Great fresh homemade donuts in Plainfield. Their sour cream cake donuts are the best! Little hole in the wall but they are popular and run out quickly. Beware they close early at 9am. A close second to Hilligoss in Brownsburg.

Sav R.

Yelp
some of the best donuts ive ever had!!! the yeast are amazing. i'm not a fan of cake donuts, but theirs were sooo good. staff is very kind and helpful as well

Yelp
First time trying Al's Donuts and it will not be my last! This hidden gem on main street in Plainfield is must try if you love doughnuts! The parking lot is a little scary because it is not well lit, but the second you open your car door you're welcomed by the heavenly smell of fresh baked doughnuts. I tried the Bismarck (their best seller) as well as many other types of doughnuts. All of them were absolutely delicious and had the fresh baked softness! Definitely recommend their jelly doughnut. It was by far my favorite one of what I tried from here. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because it is only open from 230-930 or until they run out of doughnuts. I went around 4am and they were about half out. Another reason for 4 stars is because it is CASH ONLY!! Also: The parking lot is located behind the building, I found it easy to access by turning in at the Dairy Queen next door.
google avatar

Dennis H.

Yelp
This is an incredibly popular doughnut store, and with good reason. The doughnuts are fresh, well made, and delicious. The only complaint I have is that they sell out really quickly, so you almost have to be there when they open to get any. The staff are friendly and helpful, even though they are busy from the moment they open (at 2:30am, no less). Go there for your doughnuts, but go early!
google avatar

Wayne T.

Yelp
Just a okay donut went because the reviews said it was good but was not impressed got there about a hour after they had open they were not packed and the donuts were as dry as the staff. Nothing better then a store bought doubt.
google avatar

Wanda M.

Yelp
Al's is a landmark in Plainfield. The shop is small with 3 tables, loyal locals and the girls behind the counter could not be friendlier or nicer. You need to drive behind Dairy Queen to get to the parking lot. It's worth the trip if your close to Plainfield but get here EARLY. The donuts are delicious. I don't care for cake donuts but our server said I was passing up one of the best. So of course I topped off our dozen with those. They were light, fluffy cake donuts topped with a rich, dark chocolate icing. Thank you for that recommendation! They, like many small shops, sell till their gone. At 8:30 the tables were full of locals visting over coffee, enjoying donuts. The cases were close to empty with folks hurry in to grab what remained in the case. I now understand why Al's donuts are a staple for all these years. Even though Al has retired, the shop still honors and respects his love for donuts. He has a new fan as of today's first donut.

Lynn P.

Yelp
I really had high hopes for this donut store but the donuts were very stale. Had to throw most of them away.
google avatar

Jastina C.

Yelp
Updated my review based on their ridiculous hours. It's hard to advocate for a small business that majority of yelpers will never be able to go to
google avatar

Chrissy A.

Yelp
Yes they are cash only, yes they have early hours but let's talk donuts. My husband works in Plainfield and brought some of these home. They are so good. Maybe dare I say it the best I have had in the Indy area. Many small local donuts shops are cash only and that is just how it is. So grab a couple bucks, roll out of bed and pick up some of these delicious local hand made goods.
google avatar

Ben W.

Yelp
I see why they are so popular. I would recommend getting the bismark as well as their traditional yeast donuts. If you go early enough you can sneak a spot in the dairy Queen parking lot next door.
google avatar

Brent W.

Yelp
Not much ambiance. Very old fashioned, cash only, average quality coffee. But the donuts are pretty good.
google avatar

Stephanie G.

Yelp
Al's is my favorite donut shop! If you want to have a chance at some of their delicious donuts, you'd better get there early! They open at 3am and close by 9:30am-earlier if they've sold out. It's 100% worth it to roll out of bed early for these tasty treats!

Jason M.

Yelp
No way this place is better than Long's Donuts there's no way. No card payment at all?! In this day and age what am in the 90's?! The guy was short too with us and looked like he'd rather be anywhere else than there wish there was a rating less than one star. Just drive down the street to Jacks's that place is better all around.

Chad S.

Yelp
Awesome donut shop! I love that they open super early. The gentleman that works in there is great, and he's also a veteran.
google avatar

Adam E.

Yelp
Great place of you are up after 2am but before 9 am. I find the best doughnut around.

Lindsey S.

Yelp
We got there about 15 minutes or so before they closed, and they were so kind about it. The donuts are delicious and the coffee is superb! Make sure to bring cash, they do not take credit or debit cards. While we were there, they had an issue with another customer come up, and the man behind the counter handled it with professionalism and poise! Will return for sure!

CM R.

Yelp
I wasn't impressed. I stopped in today at 8:15 am. Bought a 3 glazed, cinnamon twist, and a long john. I thought they were a bit chewy and old. About the same quality as a Kroger donut.
google avatar

Gabrielle H.

Yelp
So you think Long's are the best? I beg to differ. Al's is everything a good donut shop should be. Small and efficient, they make the best donuts around, once they sell out they're done for the day. Everything I've ever had there is top-notch. Be warned though, I've seen them sell out by 9am on a weekend before so get there early to get the best pickings! Also, cash only, so be prepared.
google avatar

Kylie S.

Yelp
Two words: GO HERE! It took us way too long to visit here once moving to Plainfield. We heard about this place from a local and we knew we had to try. We set our alarm very early on a Saturday morning to get here and it was worth it! The red velvet cake doughnut was my favorite! Try them all.
google avatar

Angie P.

Yelp
I recently visited Al's donuts for the first time a week ago. I was scouting a new fresh place to try since I take donuts to the office occasionally. Their donuts were great! I ordered 4 dozen donuts that day for the following Friday to take to the office. Everyone at the office RAVED about the assortment of great donuts. These donuts are like no other I have had. The office has asked me to only bring donuts from this place now! Way to go Al's donuts!

Sarita B.

Yelp
I love Al's Donuts, make sure your dozen includes plenty of the cake varieties. The lemon is also a favorite, but make sure you call ahead to preorder those! So far the cinnamon sugar cake and chocolate frosted cake donuts are the reigning favorites in my house, but we are going to get our hands on the fabled blueberry and red velvet donuts soon. (I think those are Friday morning specialties!) Take cash, and when you reach for a donut in the car as you leave, don't grab the lemon, wayyy too messy for the car!
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
Stopped here while in town for work. It's the only non chain donut place in town. At 7:30am they were almost out of donuts. I don't know why, but when I was told they open at 2am and that's when you have to get there if you want the full selection. So......I had 4 types of donuts to choose from. The apple spice cake donut was amazing. Super moist and not greasy. The long john, however, was dry and tasted like a gas station leftover. Would have loved to try the other cake flavors.
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
The place is old and ran down. Seating is very limited and parking is joke. I live in Southwest part of Indy and made the 20min drive. I was not impressed with the Cowpattie, Red Velvet or Maple Doughnut. Next time, I will find local shop. Cost was great or than that, nothing special.

Julie S.

Yelp
These donuts were always a childhood family favorite and even 26 years after leaving the state, these are THE BEST donuts! Was able to preorder a large order for an event and several guests came back for seconds. It is definitely worth losing a little sleep to get up early so you can grab some before they are gone!!

Liz N.

Yelp
Dear lord. The smells alone are worth the trip! Cash only, quick service, and if you're lucky enough to be there when a hot batch comes out- oh man. You're in for a treat. They sell till their gone, so get there early!
