"In the heart of East Village, one of Calgary’s most dynamic neighborhoods, this Alt Hotel is built for guests who move between work and downtime with ease. Rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows and clean lines, with views across the Bow River and the city skyline. The public spaces are open and adaptable, designed for coffee, meetings, or time to yourself, while the design adds texture without pretense. The vibe is focused but relaxed, and the location puts you within steps of galleries, restaurants, riverfront paths, and some of the city’s best cultural spaces." - Tablet Hotels

An amazing hotel. Lovely walks along the river. 29 minutes to walk to the tower.|Hotel is very clean, great rooms and the staff are so helpful! Special mention of Mia who absolutely made our stay great. She gave us so much help and fantastic suggestions for food and activities. A star! |Great food places directly across the road. Are felt very safe and we will definitely return!

We are glad with our stay in the hotel! We arrived Calgary and I didn't feel well, so I was worried we might not get a room. However, the front desk lady helped us with early check-in without us requesting. We booked a corner room that is more spacious. The extra hallway gave more room for our luggages. The room is clean and modern. There is a central panel where you can control pretty much everything in the room. The hotel is in a very convenient location, just steps away from the riverside. Many attractions are within walking distance. It has three restaurants downstairs too. Will stay again next time!

We stayed here for two nights over the long weekend sleeping off the jet lag before we travelled on to Banff and Jasper. We were looking for something comfortable in a reasonably central and a good rate. I think I was given this hotel as a recommendation in a TA forum question, and found the rate to be good for the apparent standard of accommodation. The hotel is a short Uber ride from the airport and is situated on the river, about a 20 minute walk from the Calgary Tower. Our room was quite small, but the standard was good. Everything was in a good state of repair, and everything worked the way it should. The room had a nespresso machine, and a kettle was also delivered to our room on request so we could also have tea. The area is safe enough. There are a lot of homeless people resident along the river, under the bridges, but we found the walk along the river quite safe. There were plenty of people jogging, walking their dogs and cycling, and the homeless people, whilst obviously having their own private problems, were not begging or intimidating in any way. So don't let that put you off. If I were to stay here again, the one thing I would do is to not add breakfast to the bill. Breakfast can be added at a cost of 20 CAD pp, taken at the ajoining cafe, but on reflection this didn't seem to offer any advantage by way of a discount. All it did was to restrict your choices to the hotel breakfast menu (which you could order at a similar price anyway on a walk in). All in all, however, if we were to visit Calgary again, we'd stay here again

Attitude of reception staff was bad. Neat hotel with good lounge & diner. Central location & easy walking distance to city center. We booked the hotel as a group 4 rooms. We had requested for additional bed in one room to sleep three & this was confirmed whilst booking. This booking was done by my brother in Calgary. However, on arrival, the check in was smooth & when we asked for the additional bed, the lady said that it cannot be done due to lack of space & fire safety regulations. I told her that I understand all that & asked her for options. She went to check with her manager & the gentleman came out with a "Policeman like face & talk" saying "I am sorry sir...". We were attending a wedding & my wife gently asked me to calm down & we will sort something later. To our surprise, two other rooms allotted to others in the group had the space & the spare bed was accommodated in their rooms. On questioning why that was not offered to us, she went on another protective rant. Poor training of staff to address customer service.

We stayed at Alt Hotel Calgary East Village for a wedding and will never stay at this brand again. When we booked through the wedding link on July 31, the rate shown was under $189/night for two beds. Strangely, the confirmation email we received from the hotel did not include the room rate. At no point during check-in or digital check-in was the price disclosed. Only at checkout did we discover I was being charged $209/night. To make things worse, my family members—who stayed in larger king rooms—were all charged $169/night. When I questioned the front desk, I was told rates “fluctuate based on occupancy.” In other words, the “group discount” link wasn’t really a discount at all—it was a moving target. Later, the hotel admitted in writing that they deliberately do not include rates in confirmations and even instructed the wedding couple not to share exact rates with guests. That is the definition of misleading and non-transparent. No reputable hotel should operate this way. I’ve traveled widely and stayed in many hotels, and I’ve never once booked a room without the nightly rate clearly displayed and confirmed at time of booking. Hiding the price until checkout is unacceptable. The result? Guests who booked early, in good faith, ended up paying more than those who booked later. The hotel may claim this is “policy,” but the truth is it’s a terrible way to treat guests and wedding parties. Alt Hotel lost my trust, and I will never book with this brand again. If you value honesty, transparency, and fairness, book elsewhere.

We stayed one night in Calgary before going to Banff. After a long day of travel, we were very comfortable with our stay. The bathroom had a nice rain shower option. The toiletries were high quality. The blackout shades provided nice shades to block out light. The gym has a Peleton bike, two treadmills and a spin bike, a set of weights up to 25 lbs and exercises balls and mats. We had free parking since we came after 10 and could park on the street and we left before 9 AM. Highly recommended if you’re staying in downtown Calgary.

We stayed here for our wedding and it was fantastic. The room was very comfortable, complete with black out curtains. Additionally, the staff left a little gift in our room to help us celebrate our wedding. The manager was easy to communicate with and made getting a room block for the few out of town guests we had very easy. I would stay here again.

A modern boutique hotel with touch controls for everything inside the room. Positives: The bed was very comfortable. It was also very nice being able to use Chromecast to cast my own shows/movies onto the tv. The towels were clean and stain free and the toiletries provided were great. I appreciate the hotel's commitment to being environmentally conscious. Negatives: The blinds do not block out sunlight very well as they do not overlap, and leave lots of gaps in the middle of the window. There is no fan in the washroom. The rainfall shower is a nice touch, however, the temperature of the water did not stay consistent and was never hot enough. There is no on-site parking available. We had booked the room directly through the hotel's website and as such were provided with the option of free late check out, which was requested and confirmed upon check in that we will check out at 1:30 pm the next day. However, at 11:50 am, our room cards stopped working and we got locked out of the room. The concierge was able to amend the error, but it was a pretty inconvenient incident.

Yelp
This hotel is made for Workcations!! So many cool work spaces around to do your work, the Wi-Fi is super strong with great video quality and included in your stay. The staff are friendly and helpful. There are two restaurants in this hotel, a breakfast / lunch spot and a dinner sushi restaurant. We didn't get to eat at any of these but they're there for travellers who need it. There are also lots of food options around and since this hotel is close to downtown you can Uber eats deliver anything you'd like. The room is clean and has great workstations in the room too! The shower is modern and great. They even put a fridge in the room at our request. The one downfall is they don't have any microwaves or any way to heat up your food if you need to. Parking is paid daily and is underground but is open to the public so there that too.

Yelp
It's a little difficult to rate this hotel - it brand new and still has that "new hotel smell" (is that a thing?). So it has its pros and cons. The hotel itself is located in Calgary's East Village - what I gather is an up and coming area. It definitely has that "modern feel" which of course is to be expected in a brand new build. With that being said, I don't believe it's all open yet (the bar/lounge area didn't look in service, and it felt like there were maybe 5 other guests in the hotel with us). That's not a bad thing, just makes it difficult to give a good overall review. We stayed in a king room which while small was functional. It reminded me of many hotels in Europe. It worked for two of us but would be a little tight if you are looking for a hotel room for the family. Bathroom and shower worked great and had a decent amount of space. Wifi was included and was speedy. Parking could be an issue. We parked on the street for free overnight - but otherwise you need to park in the city parking lot beside the hotel. Not sure they have their own lot. Overall I'd give this place another shot - especially at the price we paid ($109 for the night).

Yelp
Nice hotel clean, close to the river for those looking for a run or leisurely walk. Easy access to downtown restaurants and shops.

Yelp
Fantastic experience. Their customer service experience is planned and excellent. Kudos to you for thinking of all the details (no matter how small) that frequent travellers are challenged with. I will be seeking out Alt Hotel experiences based on this one. Your staff are excellent, your rooms beautifully and efficiently designed, and an overall excellent experience. Thank you.

Yelp
We had the best stay here! Rooms are cozy, clean and designed so so cute. Amazing service and staff members. Shout out to Rob at the front desk for being so kind and helpful. We brought our dog and he also loved it. It's right next to a dog park, amazing food & breweries and the walkway next to the river is a must. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Yelp
This hotel is amazing! Brand new, loaded with technology, and most importantly clean! Rob assisted me with check in and the process was very smooth, almost like catching up with an old friend. He's extremely knowledgeable about the area the hotel is in (the happening spots, where to go an so on). Oh and the bathroom soaps are divine, if that's your thing!

Yelp
Ridiculously inflexible cancellation policy. The manager refused to refund a no show charge even though I had called to cancel the reservation. I'll never stay at this hotel again.
