Alt Hotel Calgary East Village

Rooms were really nice and comfortable. Check-in was quick and the staff was friendly. The area felt a bit sketchy—yeah I know it’s downtown, but Calgary has definitely gone downhill over the past few years. The free public parking on weekends was a plus, though I was a little nervous about break-ins. That said, overall it was a great stay, and the river view from the room totally made it worth it. Absolutely loved this hotel. We were in town for the Calgary Marathon, and this hotel was in the perfect location, walking distance from the start and finish lines. They also had a cute welcome package for marathon runners of some snacks and electrolyte drinks plus they automatically signed us up for a late checkout since I was in the race. Even without all the race perks the hotel had a really cool, modern vibe. The cherry on top is that they allow dogs in the rooms and so we were able to bring our pooch with us. Great stay!

We stayed four nights in early May. The rooms are contemporary, all electronic, very clean and well appointed. Ours was a bit small - no dresser and tiny closet which was a challenge but we figured it out. Great bed and shower. Loved the Nespresso machine. Helpful staff, good breakfast-lunch restaurant, Chix, attached. Lovely location across the street from the Bow River, so good walking on the river walk which is over 20 km. A couple of blocks from Bell Studios, the music museum, and the spectacular Calgary Library - don’t miss the architecture inside and out - and a 10 minute walk to the lively Inglewood neighborhood. Interesting outdoor sculptures and murals in and around the area. The East Village is a transitional neighborhood: lots of condos but not a lot of choices for restaurants yet. Sidewalk Citizen Bakery has great sandwiches. Ate twice in Barrel 612, a real neighborhood restaurant - very good breakfast and dinner with surprising options and great staff. King Eddy’s near Bell Studios is good too, with live music on the weekends.

The handicap room bed was hard and had crispy sheets. Too much light comes through the blinds. The bathroom floor squeaked loudly when walking on it. You have to ask for cups for water. Not enough drawer or closet space for long stays. Love the touch panel. Not much variety on tv. Sports and news mostly. Like the pool table and board games. Need more in the lobby, like a bar. The restaurant next door was too expensive if want drinks. Customer service was excellent including housekeeping. Location was great. Don’t like being charged a deposit prior to coming.

We stayed here as a team. The hotel staff were so accommodating. The rooms were very clean and well appointed. They had a pool table in the lobby and our team enjoyed having a place to hang out. Our flight did not leave until 7:00pm and they offered us a late check out at 4:30. The location is a little further out but there are some great coffee shops and bakeries nearby. Parking at the hotel was $30 per night but there is lots of street parking if you are willing to walk a bit.

He was always available, accommodating, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. If you're looking for a well-managed, stylish venue with outstanding service, I highly recommend Alt Hotel Calgary East Village. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience! 🎉👏

My family and I had ab extremely comfortable stay at the Alt Hotel East Village this previous weekend. The location is really what sells this hotel and the view from our room really topped off the entire experience. I found Alt to be very family friendly and I didn't feel bad having a rambunctious 15 month old there. Not only was it comfortable for a family, but it was also very quiet at night.

My hubby and I found The Alt Hotel in Calgary, literally by chance yesterday. We were having lunch at The Chix restaurant and saw that a hotel was attached to it. We booked a one night stay. Booking was easy. The vibe of the hotel and the rooms are trendy and art deco/modern. Great use of space for the rooms, plus lots of natural light and great views all for a very reasonable price. We had a great stay and highly recommend this hotel!

This hotel is made for Workcations!! So many cool work spaces around to do your work, the Wi-Fi is super strong with great video quality and included in your stay. The staff are friendly and helpful. There are two restaurants in this hotel, a breakfast / lunch spot and a dinner sushi restaurant. We didn't get to eat at any of these but they're there for travellers who need it. There are also lots of food options around and since this hotel is close to downtown you can Uber eats deliver anything you'd like. The room is clean and has great workstations in the room too! The shower is modern and great. They even put a fridge in the room at our request. The one downfall is they don't have any microwaves or any way to heat up your food if you need to. Parking is paid daily and is underground but is open to the public so there that too.

It's a little difficult to rate this hotel - it brand new and still has that "new hotel smell" (is that a thing?). So it has its pros and cons. The hotel itself is located in Calgary's East Village - what I gather is an up and coming area. It definitely has that "modern feel" which of course is to be expected in a brand new build. With that being said, I don't believe it's all open yet (the bar/lounge area didn't look in service, and it felt like there were maybe 5 other guests in the hotel with us). That's not a bad thing, just makes it difficult to give a good overall review. We stayed in a king room which while small was functional. It reminded me of many hotels in Europe. It worked for two of us but would be a little tight if you are looking for a hotel room for the family. Bathroom and shower worked great and had a decent amount of space. Wifi was included and was speedy. Parking could be an issue. We parked on the street for free overnight - but otherwise you need to park in the city parking lot beside the hotel. Not sure they have their own lot. Overall I'd give this place another shot - especially at the price we paid ($109 for the night).

Nice hotel clean, close to the river for those looking for a run or leisurely walk. Easy access to downtown restaurants and shops.

We had the best stay here! Rooms are cozy, clean and designed so so cute. Amazing service and staff members. Shout out to Rob at the front desk for being so kind and helpful. We brought our dog and he also loved it. It's right next to a dog park, amazing food & breweries and the walkway next to the river is a must. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Fantastic experience. Their customer service experience is planned and excellent. Kudos to you for thinking of all the details (no matter how small) that frequent travellers are challenged with. This hotel is amazing! Brand new, loaded with technology, and most importantly clean! Rob assisted me with check in and the process was very smooth, almost like catching up with an old friend. He's extremely knowledgeable about the area the hotel is in (the happening spots, where to go an so on). Oh and the bathroom soaps are divine, if that's your thing!

Ridiculously inflexible cancellation policy. The manager refused to refund a no show charge even though I had called to cancel the reservation. I'll never stay at this hotel again.
