Alta Marfa Restaurant & Wine Bar

A quaint, unassuming spot for quiet meals and good conversations. We ordered the tomato, house-toasted crouton and feta salad with torn basil. It was incredibly simple and delicious. The tuna tar tar was perhaps the best I’ve ever had – bright with citrus notes. The smoked salmon in chili oil tinned fish is now a staple on my next charcuterie board. Delightful!

What a wonderful place!!! We walked from our Airbnb in search of good coffee and stepped into the sweetest spot in Marfa. We enjoyed our hot drinks and delicious morning snacks so much we went back the same day for dinner. We couldn’t have been happier. The food is thoughtful and fresh. The people are so warm and welcoming. It was exactly the vibe we were looking for. Intimate and well curated. Hands down the best place we discovered in Marfa. Thank you so much for a memorable visit and we hope to be back next time we venture to West Texas!

We’ve loved Alta Marfa’s wines for years, so we were thrilled to finally visit their wine bar in Marfa! The space is warm and welcoming, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly. Since they make their own wines, their recommendations were spot-on and came with great insight. What really surprised us was how incredible the food was. From the amazing selection of tinned fish to the variety of small and large plates—and even dessert—everything we tried was delicious. Highlights for us included First Rodeo wine, the smoked trout tin with all the fixings, sardines, house-made focaccia, green beans, chicken schnitzel, and chocolate mousse for dessert. I only wish we were locals so we could visit all the time. Huge thanks to the Alta Marfa team for such a memorable experience!

Coffee shop by day, wine bar by night. I'm bout super into wine or coffee, so what's with the 5-stars? Friday - Sunday they do dinner service and it's the bomb. I haven't had one bad dish, let alone one short of amazing. The rotating menu, and the guest chefs and pop-ups they host, keeps the food variety going in a small town. It's no-brainer when someone asks me for a weekend dinner rec.

I loved the wine and the food selection. The tinned fish platter was everything. The highlight of my trip! Thank you. Staff was wonderful and service was quick. It reminded me of my time I Portugal. I can't wait to come back.

A little gem in Marfa, away from the tourist crowds. We loved the beautiful, small, cozy wine bar. We walked in by chance and spontaneously stayed for dinner. The menu was small and there wasn't much choice. But we were blown away by what we got! The chef's creativity was breathtaking and the wine pairing was great. The staff were warm and courteous. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. Any time again!

Cozy atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff! They were very knowledgeable about their menu and offered suggestions that were spot on. A very local and home grown feel— I wish we had a place like this in Houston! We will definitely come back to support this local business! The wine and food is phenomenal!

This place is a real treat! We sat at the bar and ordered some of their delicious plates. We got the eggplant and potato croquettes, which were fried to perfection. We also got the tasty smoked salmon tinned fish plate, which came with pickled carrots and radishes, castelvantrano olives, and crackers. It paired nicely with their funky orange wine. The owner/server was friendly, and nice to chat about their Texas wine. I ended up buying two bottles, my favorite being their rose. This is a place the locals go to hang out, and you get a real vibe for Marfa's small and close-knit community. It was fun to be there and be part of the action.

THE BIG: New(ish) wine tasting room in Marfa. Nice "Welcome to Marfa" sign at the front of the store. THE BLACK AND WHITE: We came here after a long day of hiking in Big Bend and we were close by in nearby Alpine. Apparently this tasting room recently opened in March 2024, so we came in at the "opening". Wines featured were from all over Texas and they had a few of their own wines on display. What attracted us was their Super Tex, a play on a Super Tuscan. It's 100% tempranillo but from 3 different terroirs (volcanic, limestone, and sandstone). It was good and you could really taste the soil in which it came from. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, a bottle of Alta Marfa's Super Tex was around $45 w/o tax & tip. Great vibes and will be back!

Friendly welcome and cute place to stop for a snack and a drink. Eggplant and potato croquettes were great as well as the orange wine.

We hadn't been to Marfa in a year and didn't realize this spot had opened. We loved everything about it- great wine and food options, relaxed ambience, and friendly service.

Food was delicious, wine was even better. Was I town for a couple of days and stopped by for a few glasses of wine. Staff super helpful and knowledgeable about wine. 10/10

Had a great afternoon of wine tasting and conversation in this local wine bar. Local winery wine selections and incredible attentive service. We were taken with the ambiance and the wine selection. We left with Alta Marfa wines to continue enjoying and to share when we return home. Highly recommend!

Great wine and incredible food for dinner. Especially great for vegetarians though they have meat options. Very pretty space and nice outside option.
