"Alta Strada in the Mosaic District has been dealing with distressing social media trolling. The restaurant has had no luck getting them removed and plans to rebuild its Facebook page from scratch." - Gabe Hiatt

Yelp
Octopus was amazing, the limoncello glaze sets it off. The service was very warm and professional. Pastas were properly made, fresh and delicious. Kudos to the Chef.

Yelp
The perfect Italian spot on the outskirts of DC with excellent food and even better wine! The pasta was not just cooked to perfection, it was just finger licking good. The apps were tasty and freshly made. All the pastas are handmade and fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant! PS: You can park your car at the target garage parking for free

Yelp
A tasty spot to grab some Italian food! It's a cozy spot that just invites you to keep eating more pasta. Tiger Prawn Scampi - the sauce alone was worth it Truffle Mushroom - a light truffle dish and the mushroom was delicious Buratta Proscuitto - you can never go wrong with a good buratta! Spring Vegetable Gnocchi - Loved the spring flavors and the gnocchi was so fluffy! Chicken Parm - cristy and delicious chicken! It went perfectly with the pastas Tagliatelle Bolognese - the dish of the night! A simple pasta executed to perfection! Tiramisu - I wish I had ordered a second! It was a light texture and flavor that had me begging for more. Bombolino - The chocolate sauce is where it's at! It's perfect for date night, or just catching up with friends. I can't wait to come back and eat more pasta!

Yelp
SOLID, SOLID 4 STARS for our recent stop in for dinner. First off, this place takes reservations (Open Table) - highly recommend making them because why the hell not amiright? Especially on the weekend. We made them for Fri night, 715PM, peak weekend dinner time - and we were so glad we did. While we were immediately seated, we saw plenty of walk-ins being waitlisted. This was only our second visit - the first must have been close to a year earlier and, that first time, we stopped in on a whim (walk in) - a spontaneous decision to ditch our plans to eat at Matchbox next door as we walked by this place, peered in, liked what we saw and all of a sudden developed a hankerin' for Italian lol. We ducked in, they sat us immediately and proceeded to enjoy our meal. Now, why we hadn't thought of this place for dinner since that first time until now is beyond me. Not really sure.... But from our dining experience this second time, it's definitely going on our short list. And won't be forgotten anymore. :) This'll be a place we'll consider if we've got that hankerin' for Italian or pasta. Aside from Olive Garden (sorry Alta Strada not meaning to offend!!!), there aren't really many specifically Italian places in the NoVA area. (And come on now, I have to say that as much as ppl like to meme Olive Garden, there is a time and place for it - including the affordability factor and $$ value - and I for one am a fan.) :) With the ridiculously high cost of eating out since post-covid, I guess it's the expected new normal. Which for the budget conscious means dining out has become an every now again occurrence because it's just too damn pricey to enjoy a nice sit down meal whenever the fancy strikes you. So when the fam DOES go out to eat, it's just a given we will pay an arm and a leg so the food BETTER be amazing, the service stellar and the ambience and interior decor warm and inviting, cozy and charming enough that you feel like you've come to a reallllly special place. And you better not be rushing me out the door to turn tables - I want to stay a while to enjoy my meal, my meal companions and the entire dining experience. These are all the hallmarks of a place I would rate 4 or 5 stars and would place on my go-to dining list. Alta Strada - check, check, check and check. :) We loved the ambiance and decor of this place. It's not a huge place. Step inside the door - bar on the left side (it was lively on a Friday night) and the dining area right in front of you. In the dead of winter, I'm not keen on the front entrance opening and closing and letting cold air in - there isn't a vestibule nor a proper waiting area. (Ask to be seated towards the back of the restaurant so the chill isn't an annoyance!) But that nit aside, the place is cute and quaintly decorated - inviting and comfortable. The dinner menu is one sided. You won't see pages and pages of menu options. They've got a short list of seasonal specialties as well but the selection options are not vast. That's okay though - they do offer something for everyone and you can order any protein with any of their pasta entrees. You can also order a side of pasta with entrees that don't come with pasta. Party of 3 and we ordered a Chix Parm entree $29 with a side of pasta $7, a Chix Milanese entree $29 with a side of pasta $7 and the Penne alla Vodka pasta entree $22 with sausage $8. We also had the Famous Garlic Bread side brought out with the mains (no bread basket - disappointing). Our meals - all 3 entrees and all the sides - were delicious. REALLY good. They came out all together, piping hot from the kitchen and were beautifully plated - every single dish. The pasta dishes were all cooked al dente, chewy-just-so and nothing was oversauced. Hallelujah! Fresh parm cheese and fresh ground pepper were offered to top all dishes. And portion sizes were decent - no skimp going on here. In fact, we had leftovers to take home with us which were promptly devoured the next morning (yes, for bfast). Service was EXCELLENT too. Our server, Fiona, was AHHHHHHMMMMAAAAAAZZZINGGGGG. Fiona was just as pleasant as can be. She knew her stuff. She was patient with all our questions lol. She was responsive and was always there when we needed anything. And the best part was - she never rushed us - she allowed us to truly stay and enjoy our meal and time together. Big love. I mean - if Fiona is an example of the quality of service Alta Strada strives to achieve, KUDOS and duly noted! Let's put it this way - if I'm going to shell out a Benj-and-half for a meal, I want EVERYTHING about my dining experience, but especially the food, to be spectacular, something memorable. It certainly was all that. Be back for sure.

Yelp
Great ambiance and atmosphere with the outdoor seating. Food was perfectly heated and filling without the pasta. The Saratoga bottled water tasted good too as opposed to the tap. After a very hot day it was well worth the wait! The Server Lucy was excellent y'all should give her a raise anyways excellent food excellent service! Would come back

Yelp
Their happy hour at the bar is fantastic. Food and service are top notch. I really enjoyed the fried calamari, burrata, and Cacio E Pepe

Yelp
Recently visited for dinner on a Friday and tried the Lamb Osso Bucco. It was one of the best dishes I've tried and the saffron orzo with parmesan cheese was so decadent; I could've eaten a whole bowl of it. The service as usual is top notch and very attentive. The manager is great too!

Rashonna T.

Yelp
Met a friend for dinner. We sat at the bar, Kevin the bartender is awesome! We chose off the Restaurant Week menu and everything was great. Only thing that was not on point was the thickness of the chicken breast in the chicken parm was too thick which made for a tough bite. My friend had the penne a la vodka and was completely pleased. Flavors were very good from the pre dinner cocktail espresso martini to the after dinner desserts. The cannoli filling was so tasty, gelato and tiramisu oh my yum!!

Yelp
It was Mother's Day, so I can understand if service may be slow, but service was extremely slow. Took forever just for water to come out . If it wasn't for the play area In front of the restaurant, we'd be in trouble with our toddlers. I got the grilled octopus my wife got some sorta pasta with ground beef(the name isn't on any menu I can find ) the kids shared a plate of chicken tenders. The Spanish grilled octopus was plated beautifully as you can see from the picture. I've only had grilled octopus once before if cooked correctly it practically melts in your mouth. My first bite was the complete opposite, it felt like I was chewing on expired beef jerky. It was practically inedible. The beans were also extremely overcooked as well as the pasta my wife. Only thing on point was the mango spritzer and the chicken tenders w/ fries which is what saved it from a 1 star, that and all the good things I've heard of this place. I think it was just a bad day in the kitchen seeing as how busy they were. Just a disappointing experience.

Yelp
Well, this is a "never come back here again." So my friends are gluten-free and we needed a place where their needs could be accommodated. We called Alta Strada and they said it would be no problem. That was definitely not the case, although I will give props to the manger and wait staff, who did try their best to make it right. My friends both ordered GF penne alle vodka. The waitress noted that to avoid cross contamination, they'd need to cook the posits in separate water, which would take a little extra time. Ok, no problem. A loooong time goes by. A group behind us gets seated abs gets their food. More time goes by. I'm getting super annoyed and finally ask our waitress what's up and she gets a manager, who explains that it took a while to heat the water before they could boil the GF pasta. Ok, but that took 50 minutes? In an industrial kitchen? That seems...not correct. So then the food came out. By then we had been there over an hour in a relatively empty restaurant. My friends dig in - their pasta was undercooked. Like, still sorta crunchy. The waitress stops by, they let her but that it's ok, they'll keep eating. Very nicely, the manager offered to make them a second batch. So they picked at those crunchy pasta and ate salad while the second batch was prepared. That came out more quickly and was much better. As a final nice gesture, they gave us some scoops of gelato. So..the manager did what they could, but honestly, the food wasn't good, it should take an hour to properly prepare GF pasta. To add insult to injury, this restaurant is expensive. Like, $27 for a plate of pasta expensive. And on Sunday at 5pm, they had "run out" of lasagna (the only thing I wanted). All around, this was a really disappointing experience and even though staff tried their best, the food was just really subpar and pricey.

Yelp
Still one of the best Italian places in DMV. I had dinner there again last night with a friend. To my utmost happiness, I found out that they brought their favorite 'Penne alla Vodka' back on the menu. It had disappeared for some time and now it back. It's still one of the best pastas I've eaten in this area. My friend ordered the same with chicken and loved it. The service has improved a lot since last year. The vibe was great. And the GM of the restaurant, Yousef, was incredibly sweet and gracious. They have a kids menu there as well, so it caters to everyone. They now have added Bruschetta to the menu, which you can order instead of the garlic bread if you want. Cannot recommend this place enough. Go try it out!!!

Yelp
Everything from the food, drinks and service was outstanding. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful outdoor setting that Mosaic offers. Our server Lucy was very attentive and even the manager made sure that every guests needs were met. Unfortunately we didn't take a picture of our entrees but the fettuccine and tagliatelle were delicious, it was lighter and fresher compared to other restaurants. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you are ever in Mosaic District.

Yelp
Ok to be honest I was really leaning towards giving this spot 3 stars but I'll give it 4 just because our waitress Sarah(?) was so incredibly sweet and funny. The lower rating comes from how slow the service was. Our food took what felt like ages to arrive, but our order was also placed right after what Sarah called "the last supper"- a giant 20 person table celebrating a birthday. Rip. My friends and I ordered some appetizers to start - the world famous garlic bread with tomato dip and calamari. The garlic bread came with four large pieces of bread which were so crisp and scrumptious. The tomato sauce was pretty good but I thought it could use a bit more cheese. The calamari wasn't the biggest portion; we got 2 for our party of 7. As for the main, I ordered the lamb meatball rigatoni. This portion was quite big. After the appetizers, I could only finish half and boxed the rest to take home. It was yummy but it was also $28!! AHH! Overall, the food was decent but overpriced and the service was slow. It was pretty quiet when we went (a Sunday evening around 7pm). However I could see it potentially being quite lively another evening or during happy hour.

Yelp
Great food! I loved the wild boar pasta and I tasted my friend's lasagna and that was really good too! Both were very generous portions. There is no complimentary bread, so we ordered the focaccia with whipped ricotta. It was good! Our server was attentive and they accommodated us when we wanted to move away from the door (cold draft). It took awhile for our food to come out, but we were happy when it finally did! There a lot of restaurants in Mosaic, but this one is probably one of my favorites. If you're craving good Italian food in a lively busy place, come here!

Yelp
We came here with a friend the other night for dinner. We one of the only ones in the restaurant which nice. The service was great and our waiter was attentive. We had some delicious garlic bread and I also ordered the fettuccine. Overall delicious pasta

David H.

Yelp
Ventured to the suburbs to try chef Andy's menu as he took over the helm recently and I love his pasta - overall had a wonderful meal. Started with a mezcal espresso martini - ok but not spectacular. Now for the food. Chef brought us a couple off-menu items which were awesome (tartare and duck ravioli) - put those on the menu!! Next were the appetizers, we went with the shaved brussels salad and octopus. Salad was nice and light, a bit acidic, could maybe use some cheese or something to balance the acid and the pancetta didn't come through as much as I would've liked, but good overall. Octopus was cooked well, served with a lightly dressed salad with a calabrian chile aioli. For pastas - all were cooked well. Pappardelle with wild boar sugo and the smoked mozzarella agnolotti were amazing, favorite dishes. The fedellini with tuna conserva was good (just not the biggest fan of seafood pastas myself). The mushroom tagliatelle was the only one I wouldn't order again - it needed more flavor/more mushrooms for me (love mushroom pastas). We ended with tiramisu which was pretty good and I'm not a tiramisu fan either. Service was attentive for the most part (until the end but it was late), no real issues there - except the FOH manager (I think?) was pushy about ordering wine with our pastas, after declining once they asked again and we reluctantly agreed (wasn't given a menu and didn't choose the wine), thinking it would be a small pour on the house that they recommended, but the glasses ended up on the bill. Not a huge deal, just an avoidable awkward situation

Yelp
We decided to try something different from our usual favorite Italian spot, Pazzo Pomodoro, and had heard good things about Alta Strada so we gave it a try. We ordered the garlic bread, two pastas, and the tiramisu for dessert. The garlic bread was extremely crunchy (you cannot pull it apart without a sea of crumbs) and deep fried, with butter on top, and not enough garlic in my opinion, definitely not your regular garlic bread. I prefer softer, lightly toasted, buttery garlic bread but my husband liked it. It came with a dipping sauce on the side which was similar to tomato soup. We then tried the fettuccine with mushroom and truffles, and the cavatelli with pesto and artichokes, and they were both very good. The tiramisu was delicious too, although I could've done with a much larger slice for the price. Staff were courteous but service took a long time, as it was a busy night, but we weren't in a rush and didn't mind. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
I was nervous coming here since the reviews seem so polarized but I'm glad that my experience was 5 stars. Half our party was a bit early and had a drink at the bar. The house red they were serving was delicious and the bar tender was really sweet. I was initially annoyed at the fact that we were sat at what seemed to be the worst table in the house-- practically in the kitchen and in the way of every single restaurant employee (especially when there were plenty of open 4 tops). However, all was forgiven when the chef came out w a comp dish of burrata and then proceeded to top it with a ridiculous amount of truffle shavings. It was Delicious and such a wonderful start to the meal. We shared a few more apps- the meatballs and the garlic bread were both great. Someone also ordered the shrimp but I was too focused on the truffles and didn't try it. My smoked mozzarella ravioli was delicious as well. I'm not sure if it had prosciutto in it but it sure tasted like it did. The service throughout our meal was excellent. My water glass was never empty. I also noticed that our server took our plates to bag the leftovers rather than just bring us containers, which is what was happening at other tables so perhaps our "crappy chef's" table was actually the VIP spot. I may not rush back to this location because Fairfax is a bit of a trek, but will be definitely checking out the DC spot soon.

Lina A.

Yelp
Not super happy with my order from here for dinner. For the price I expect to be getting some amazing pasta. I ordered fettuccine mushroom thinking it would have a creamy sauce. This pasta is just oily and garlicky and served with a little cheese and mushroom. Really not my idea of a great pasta, wouldn't try again.

Katie H.

Yelp
Ordered takeout for winter restaurant week. I've had decent experiences since my last review, nothing enough to make me lower my review until now. Some pieces we ordered were good, but the entree I had was incredibly disappointing. There is zero sauce included in my pasta, only a spoonful of meat. It is dry, barely meat, no sauce. I will say that my boyfriends anglotti was very good. The scampi and garlic bread were flavorful. But, my meatballs were cold on the inside, but warm in the outside. At this point I would not recommend.

Shubha A.

Yelp
My friends and I came here for a happy hour and we left so satisfied!! They have happy hour daily from 4pm-6pm and have great food and drink deals. We each got a white wine sangria to start off with and they were delicious, I am not much of a wine person - but that sangria was yummy!! To start off with, we got the Alta Strada's World Famous Garlic Bread which was perfectly fluffy and flavored - it comes with a tomato-basil sauce which simply elevates the garlic bread. To eat, we split a margherita pizza and penne a la vodka - which were both delicious. They have generous portion sizes so these items were plenty for the three of us. We were too full for dessert, but will definitely come back again! The service was amazing, even though they were busy. There is also parking garages in this area so parking was not an issue at all. Highly recommend checking it out!

Chris M.

Yelp
There was a reason why Sweetwater Tavern had a 4 hour wait at 330pm and this place had 12 tables open. First, our server was not great. Very business like, tries to upsell all the additional protein options, etc. We ordered the clams and mussels to start. The dish came out, and the clams were overcooked and half of the shells were empty. I told this to the server and she said she'd tell the chef. Ok, but what does that do for me the customer? Once we finished the dishes sat for a while before they were cleaned up. The server thanked us for making her job easier by cleaning up the table for her so we didn't have to look at our own dishes... We had 4 different pasta dishes. The pasta is fresh, but each one of us said there was no flavor. The atmosphere is warm. But the tables are laid out so there's constant server traffic on both sides of the tables. While we were sitting there they decided it was necessary to nova a table from one side of the restaurant to the other right next to us. Meanwhile, really, there were 12 empty tables.

Yelp
9/2/23 - We went for Restaurant Week and had a FANTASTIC 3-course dinner from start to finish!! Everything was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned!! Our server, Julia, took wonderful care of us ensuring that our experience was nothing short of perfect! She took the time to explain anything we had a question with. We went for an early dinner so it wasn't too loud inside yet so it was still easy to hear one another talk. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience!!

Jr G.

Yelp
Our pasta dishes were excellent and had ample portions. The garlic bread was a huge hit with the family. The servers were helpful and pleasant. It was a pleasant ambiance and all the diners seemed to be enjoying themselves. The dessert selection was good and we tried several.

Claudette P.

Yelp
I have been meaning to try this place, and I'm glad I did! Came here with my family to celebrate a birthday, and from beginning to end, the staff were one of the friendliest and most accommodating group of people I've experienced in the area! Our server was very patient with us provided we were a big group. We had the garlic bread and mussels and clams for appetizers and they were great! The tomato sauce with the garlic bread was a good match. The bread that came with the mussels and clams was so good, and the broth was a good dip! My entree was the penne alla vodka and added meatballs. It tasted pretty good and the pasta was al dente! Lastly, right when we were about to leave, the staff came out with a complimentary tiramisu cake along with glasses of Prosecco for the table (and Shirley temple for our kiddie guest). They were the sweetest and definitely a memorable moment. Would be coming back here for the service!

Casey Lyn B.

Yelp
Our service was such a great experience! We trusted our waiter in his opinion and we're confident we ordered one of the best dishes this restaurant can offer. We came almost to closing time but we did not feel rushed. We ordered the app Prosciutto di Parma with Fig Jam and their mussel entree and you gotta have some wine with this! I gotta say that appetizer was soooo good. One of my favorite dishes! You get a combo of different flavors in one bite. I have not tasted anything like this and thats what I love about this place. I feel like this place does not get enough hype and word of mouth in Mosaic. I would highly recommend this place for your Italian cravings!

Rebecca La L.

Yelp
Service was superb. The food was good. The AC was broken I think. We ordered vodka penne and alfredo. Both tasty. It's a pretty decent pasta place to go to if you're in the area.

Howard F.

Yelp
Good speedy service, but too pricey food at this Italian restaurant in Mosaic District. The Chicken Parm and the Zuchini/Eggplant Parm were both underwhelming. My daughter found the grilled octopus to be overly salty (almost like a super-salt aftertaste), aside from not caring for the spicy pepper sauce it came with. Again, we loved our server, and the kid who kept refilling our water.

Wolver M.

Yelp
I have mostly used the door dash app. However they have never disappointed. while many others have. I will add photos next time. .

Bobbi D.

Yelp
I'm a fan!!! The chicken parm was SO YUMMY... it surprisingly doesn't come with the spaghetti but you can add it on as a side... haha, I wasn't prepared for how GINORMOUS it was, but SO delicious and I had leftovers, so that was awesome! The limoncello cocktail is SO TASTY. Our server told us they use their own house made thyme simple syrup...yummm! It's also in such a cool spot that's super family friendly and there's free parking close.

Ann C.

Yelp
The garlic bread is huge and comes with a tasty dipping sauce. Went great with the burrata and the rest of our meal. There was a mix up with an entree but then we got a tiramisu on the house. The pappardelle with boar ragu was a little salty; I enjoyed the eggplant and zucchini parmesan. Try the bomboloni, and if Jay is at the bar have him make you an off-the-menu cocktail.

Aki T.

Yelp
We will try again for dinner next time for sure! Because I was a bit disappointed with the lunch menu which has no dishes we wanted. The server was friendly and explained the menu to us. My husband ordered rib and it was tasted good but was pretty salty; my dish was farmers omelette. I liked the mushrooms and the sausage. It was very spacey and good for family friends gatherings.

Angela C.

Yelp
Wow, is the word I'd use to describe this place. From the amazing food to the exceptional service. You really couldn't ask for more. I highly recommend it's also a great location to people watch.

Basant P.

Yelp
Alta Strada in Mosaic District, VA, proved to be a truly exceptional dining destination, where my long-awaited reunion with a high school friend was elevated to new heights. After hearing rave reviews from friends, we decided to give this place a try, and our experience surpassed all expectations. From the warm welcome to the delectable dishes and impeccable service, every aspect of our visit was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to excellence. As we arrived at Alta Strada this evening, the hostess greeted us with a genuine smile, making us feel instantly at home. Despite not having a reservation, she accommodated our request to sit outside on the patio, allowing us to bask in the glorious weather (I would however recommend to reserve a table in advance as this place gets busy). The staff's attentiveness and warmth continued throughout the evening, creating a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable experience. Our server, Nicole, went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was exceptional. Her recommendations for celebratory drinks were spot on, and to our delight, she surprised us with complimentary champagne, raising a toast to our reunion after 17 long years. Nicole's attentiveness extended beyond drinks as she provided detailed explanations of the menu, ensuring we made the perfect choices to suit our preferences. The culinary prowess displayed at Altra Strada is nothing short of remarkable. The fish of the day, a succulent Salmon topped with Chimichurri, was a revelation. Cooked to perfection, the fish boasted a delicate texture and paired beautifully with the flavorful sauce. The accompanying sautéed spinach added a delightful touch, its vibrant taste complementing the dish splendidly. My friend's choice of the broccoli salad showcased the restaurant's commitment to freshness and creative combinations, leaving him in awe of the vibrant colors and incredible flavors. Throughout our dining experience, the staff ensured that our glasses were constantly filled with water, showcasing their attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction. They even graciously offered to capture our special reunion with a photograph, embodying the spirit of hospitality that Alta Strada exudes. To conclude our remarkable meal, we indulged in the heavenly beignets, a treat that transported us to the vibrant streets of New Orleans. Served piping hot, these fluffy delights were accompanied by luscious chocolate and strawberry sauces, adding a tantalizing sweetness to every bite. It was the perfect ending to a truly memorable evening. Final Thoughts: Our experience at Alta Strada left an indelible mark, forcing us to return for more of their culinary wonders. The combination of warm hospitality, impeccable service, and extraordinary flavors made for a truly remarkable reunion. I will most definitely going back to try their Brunch. I highly recommend this place. :)

Yelp
I came here for brunch today with the fam. We ordered the French toast, salmon Benedict, and kids spaghetti with meatballs. Overall the food wasn't aweful, but it was not particularly great either. French toast- was thick, crispy and buttery--reminded me of honey toast ? The walnuts, strawberries and peaches were kind of just topping thrown on. Was fresh but nothing special? Tasted good but nothing super special. Salmon Benedict-- there was too much salmon, which was super super salty! Eggs were cooked well though. The bread it was on was kind of greasy as well. Spaghetti-- was salty and the pasta was very basic and not cooked enough! It was hard for my toddler to eat

Connie L.

Yelp
Delish Italian recipes. Service be patient. Prices are not expensive as Alexandria or dc rest.

Amanda W.

Yelp
Our service was great. The waitress was attentive. The food came out in a timely manner. We tried both bruschettas of the day. My favorite was the cod fish. It reminded me of eating salt fish back in the Caribbean. Our meals were good as well. I tried the Penne a la Vodka with shrimp. It was plentiful with shrimp and a-little spicy. I wish the menu would have said that. It's not unbearable spicy but I needed to drink my water frequently while eating. The Baked Ziti was yummy per my friend. Another friend tried the Lasagna Bolognese and he didn't like it. It lacked flavor. Our server switched it out for another meal with no hesitation. We had a great experience. There's a lot of parking available via the garages.

Amy B.

Yelp
Alta Strada grabbed our attention initially because of their creative cocktails and out of this world amazing Eggplant Parmesan. Then they renovated and made the interior more like an Italian restaurant with a cool vibe, so we liked it even more. On top of that, we are treated like family when we go by the bartenders, servers and manager. It makes a difference when you can tell that everyone working genuinely loves the food and being a part of the Alta Strada team. It would be cool if they had special events such as a wine tasting flight night with appetizers or cocktails and appetizer tasting menu.

Saad P.

Yelp
I would give this place 10 stars if I could... Started with good service and ended with GREAT service. Carlos was our waiter and was very professional, respectful and knowledgeable of what the food is made with and how it's cooked as well... Amazing customer service! There was a small mix up on our order but the manager and Carlos just made it seem like it never happened, they showed such care and had the best customer service I have ever experienced. So TAHNK YOU Alta Strada for having AMAZING people in your restaurant that can put a smile on people's faces! Saad,

Yelp
The food was very good creamy, im very picky with food it was great and packed with flavor being so plain! The service was amazing as well, they were very quick to bring out the food and we just moved here trying to eat at new places! The ambiance of the place was very welcoming and warm as well!

Yelp
Ordered online and called in to ask if I could have an alteration to a menu item that has never been a problem whenever I dined in. In fact it was originally recommended by a server? They said it wasn't possible, which was a lie-- but I didn't want to argue with them since it's not really a hosts job to go out of their way to talk to the kitchen. When my order arrived the pasta was dry and bland. I was missing half of my order and the thing I was looking forward to most (the garlic bread) was ofcourse, not there. Not sure if the driver took it or if the restaurant forgot it. But the bag was wide open which is upsetting that they don't take any safety precautions against potential theft like other establishments that have safety stickers to keep their bags enclosed. I'd like to believe the driver didn't take it as his service was speedy and quick. But this restaurant definitely needs to do more quality checks especially when it comes to making sure pick up orders have everything inside, especially for the price they expect you to pay. It's the bare minimum and honestly just embarrassing at this point.

Yelp
The food is delicious and authentic. A rare find among so many sub par Italian restaurants in the DMV !! Thank you Yosef !! You and your team are putting out some great food !!

Yelp
I'm sure we've had more enjoyable evenings out, but after our Christmas Eve meal at Alta Strada, I'm hard pressed to think of a better one any time recently. I confess, this was not our first choice. We had been there once not long after they opened, and the food was just okay; the service was terrible. Wow. We are so glad we gave them another chance. My wife's brother was in from California, and we waited far too long to make a reservation. Alta Strada was available, and I'm glad they were. The food was outstanding. From the foccacio, burrata, and calimari appetizers, to the pasta entrees of wild boar pappardelle, tagliatelle bolognese, and lasagna - and desserts of tiramisu and bomboloni - the meal far exceeded our expectations, even pleasing our very picky 14 year old. If I had once criticism, it would be that there were more tentacles than rings in the calamari, but no one seemed to mind. As good as the food was, it was exceeded by our server, Hera. While she wore a Santa hat that said "naughty," she was anything but. Friendly, informative (she made some excellent recommendations!!), and attentive. She made our evening even more enjoyable. All and all, a great night out, and thanks to Hera and the food, we will be back! Thanks for a great night!!

Yelp
- getting seated was very quick! The waiter is very nice and attentive - their world famous garlic bread is honestly alright. - we thought the shrimp scampi was a pasta but it's just shrimp/cherry tomatoes with bread - my Tagliatelle Bolognese was pretty good! Was on the salty side so I had to drink so much water. Very filling. I gave half of my pasta to my boyfriend since he got the shrimp scampi.

Yelp
No real complaints, I just was not blown away by the food. We had the pappardelle and ravioli entrees, which were both enjoyable. 'm not sure the food is appropriately priced (high $20s-$30s for entrees), given the atmosphere and quality. Service was good. It just felt like something was missing... considering all the surrounding options in the mosaic area, I don't think we'll be back. Best of luck though.

Yelp
I was excited coming here for the cacio e pepe pasta. It was not prepared al dente. Since it was restaurant week in the DC area, it was a set menu for appetizer, entree, and dessert. We had the meatballs and fried calamari. Both were good. We had the chicken parmigiana and cacio e pepe. Very average. Cannolis were not bad. We had the big chill cocktails with Hendricks gin. Service was average. Felt like we were getting rushed out of there.

Yelp
my favorite italian place! not only is the food amazing, but the service is exceptional as well. even before arriving at the restaurant, when i called to ask about happy hour, the person who answered the phone was incredibly sweet. our host greeted us with a smile and was super nice, and finally, our server was amazing too. this is a great spot for a casual lunch or a date.

Yelp
I came here with my family when my brother recommended it. When coning in, the place seemed full so I would imagine that the food would be good. We sat down and ordered apps first. The menu was pretty sparse probably due to COVID but we ordered the burrata and the mussels. They both were great and loved the apps. Then we ordered our entrees as we were excited for what was in store. I got the chicken parm, my mom got the eggplant parm, and my brother got the tagliatelle. Both the eggplant parm and the chicken parm needed a lot more seasoning. It gave me crispy boiled chicken/eggplant flavors which were not exciting. My brother's dish on the other hand was a tad salty. Ultimately, we preferred the appetizers more. We ordered the Bianca pizza with arugula and mushrooms to finish the main courses and that was amazing. Finally, we ordered a tiramisu and that did not disappoint. Overall, I would probably come again and only get the appetizers.

Yelp
We had come across this place just wandering around the mosaic & I must say I am more than happy we agreed to come here ! We were looking for a cute little place to have my birthday dinner at . The service immediately was warm and welcoming . It was a bit quite for brunch but it was perfect for us . We hate loud places . The menu was a bit extensive For my taste , Italian is meant to be simple . However what I ordered was very well made and everyone else at my table definitely enjoyed their food . My dad had the shaksuka & my grandma had this amaaaaazing looking burger & fries . I had the spaghetti AOP . Pasta was perfection , sauce was perfect with big chunks of delicious garlic !!! And the chefs crostini was hands down my fave. Fresh wild mushrooms atop marcapine cheese . Delicious! After and amazing meal we mentioned dessert and that it was my birthday and they came out with my dessert , 4 beautiful Canollis , a birthday card signed by everyone in the restaurant (what ?! How freaking sweet ! ) , and a lil Shirley Temples taster ! I was blown away by the hospitality and kindness . Definitely might make this birthday tradition! I felt so special ! I loved it ! Amazing food , ambiance , and service !
