We find ourselves here almost once a week on average! Love to support local hardware stores when possible instead of the Home Depot & Lowe’s. We also noticed this perfect wall for a mural on the side of the store. The were very receptive and gave us creative freedom to do what we do best. Thank you and enjoy the artwork too! Highly recommend this hardware store to all!

Amazing hardware store that's well stocked and has lots of associates happy to help you. I'm always asked if I need help finding anything. The bolt bins are well stocked too.

Been going here for years. After moving away I decided to make a trip back to get some parts I needed. This place has changed! There used to be very helpful and professional men that would greet you at the door and know exactly what was needed. This time I had to find someone, and it was the strangest young man. He was dressed very unprofessional. He wore croc sandals in a hardware store. He was a white male but had an accent of an African American male. He made a pass at my wife. He kept asking me random questions about cars and Hollywood etc. Finally he gathers the parts I need, placed them in a small bag and I pay. But when I get home they were not the parts we had discussed at all. They were completely the wrong size and number of parts! I drove all the way there for no reason and it was a clown show. Never going back again!!

Absolutely the best local hardware store around. Super friendly, super knowledgeable and a shockingly large inventory for what might appear a smaller space. Skip the headache of the big box store and see where the locals shop.

I'm told it's a one stop shop. They had what I needed but I didn't want to pay 15$ for it. The staff were very quick and service was clear and fast. 'Be great if all local hardware stores were so well trained

Although this store is smaller than a Home Deport I have often found items in stock that are out of stock at home depot. Especially for screws, bolts, hardware, etc. I can quickly get help vs spending 10 min chasing someone down at Home Depot. Their staff is always friendly, knowledgeable and willing. And the their shop is closer. 5 Stars!

Favourite hardware store! Friendly, helpful, amazing inventory. I always come here and support this great local business for tools and any hardware needs. Only if Alta Dena Hardware doesn’t stock something, do I then go to somewhere like Home Depot. Shop local and support Altadena Hardware.

Great service, low prices, excellent hardware selection. The staff at Altadena Hardware are friendly, helpful, and much more knowledgeable than big box stores. They will ask you about the project you're doing, and help find the right products and materials to fit the application of your work. Need to attach something to something else? They will guide you through the a-la-carte screws, nails, nuts, and bolts with expertness, making sure that the style, strength, and size of the hardware fits your project's needs. The prices for most items are competitive with big box stores-- items like PVC pipe, wood filler, and hardware are cheaper at Altadena Hardware in a side-by-side comparison to big box stores. If you purchase materials like wood or pipe, they can cut it for you for transport! The selection of paint, hardware, garden supplies, light bulbs, power tools, adhesives, and most other typical household hardware needs are excellent. Based on size, they don't stock as much lumber or appliances as big box stores. Very helpful -- they do cartridge exchange for Soda Stream!! And have many options of Soda Stream flavorings. They also sell local honey up at the cash register! Altadena Hardware is my first choice for hardware needs!

This is the best hardware store in LA. Maybe the country. Every time I went there, which was a lot because I had recently moved into a home in Altadena before the fire, I was greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff. These people knew their stuff about hardware. And, their selection was amazing--everything you needed. They are temporarily closed, but they are coming back. Look for their pop-up, and go there. Support them! This local business was a gem, and will be again!

Just want you to know that while the Eaton fire has TEMPORARILY closed this place of business, they are looking for another location to open soon. Google has listed it as "Closed Permanently", which is incorrect. It's a terrific smaller hardware store with lots of personal help so please bring your business when they reopen!

So grateful that Altadena Hardware is only temporarily closed due to the Eaton fire. They suffered some damage but will reopen.

I am devastated because the store burned down in the Eaton fire. I lived a couple of blocks away and my house is ash too. I spent so much time in this store as I worked on endless labors of love around my beloved home. The staff in this amazing little store always knew what I needed, advised me on options, and asked if I needed help as soon as I walked in the door. It was incredible what they had available. I knew many of them by name, and they knew me. Our little community around central Altadena will take a long, long time to recover. I hope this is one of the things that comes back.

The interior of the store is deceptive; you'd think such a small store wouldn't have much inventory, but they do, plus they have storage space in the back with bigger, bulkier items, so ask for what you need. Very friendly staff. If Alison doesn't know you by name after two visits, there's a crack in the matrix.

With so many big box stores around, this place is a gem. Normally you would expect high prices and limited inventory, but these place has everything you need and great prices. As an added bonus they are very friendly and knowledgeable, so why go to Home Depot or Lowe's when we have everything we need in our backyard.

I came into the store initially to buy a bolt as an alternative for fixing my shower knob. The bolt was meant to be an alternative solution to hold down the shower knob because I couldn't take out the recessed screw that was stuck due to years of corrosion. Left the store tried out the screw. Needless to say, it didn't work so I brought back the entire unit to the store and showed Dwight hoping to get some advice. Dwight brought the unit to the back of the store to Jimmy. Jimmy took the unit, put on a vice and attempted to take the Alan key off, but it was severely stuck. He took a torch to a unit sprayed a bunch of anti-seas on it and eventually was able to remove the screw. This saved me having to replace the entire unit which would've cost a lot of money! Jimmy also gave me a great advice to prevent the threats from seizing up in a future by adding anti-seize lubricant. Thank you so much. Jimmy and Dwight you guys are amazing. Amazing customer service you can't get this at Home Depot for sure.

This hardware store has all the odds and ends the large big box hardware stores don't have. Additionally, they have friendly knowledgeable staff members willing to help you, not hiding from you. I just wish there was more parking available though. While I was completing my transaction, I asked the young lady handling the register if I can purchase a bag to put all my items into it. She replied with, "we don't charge for bags, we just appreciate you shopping here." Maybe Lowe's should take a hint, as they charge $0.10 per bag and generally never have bags in stock in the first place.

This is the gold standard for hardware stores in the Pasadena/Altadena area. In fact, I'd venture to say for anywhere. The staff is helpful and friendly, and the store has a great selection of all the stuff you go to a hardware store for.

Shout out to Luis for his expertise in helping me get my washing machine hooked up. Super helpful and patient with me and told me what I needed to do and what tools. It was fantastic! I highly recommend Luis at Altadena Hardware!

I had a good experience here, I came to get some wire nuts and found them right away with help from one of the workers. Everyone there was nice and I found parking right away in the front.

I have been a customer of Altadena Hardware for years, and have been a fan since my first visit. I am not handy at all, I can barely change a light bulb. Whenever I have a problem or need something, they always are very helpful, patient and professional. All the employees are very congenial and helpful. Love an old school hardware store and absolutely love Altadena Hardware. Their customer service is unmet and the products they sell are high quality. It's also *way* less packed than a big box hardware store (I actually saw the line outside Home Depot over the weekend and turned my car right around) which is more important than ever during the time of COVID-19. Hardware stores are considered an essential business and I'm extra happy to support anything small and local these days! Yesterday I was in for a couple specific things (potting soil, terra cotta planters, and outdoor window cleaner). There are some awesome soils on the sales floor (really good Fox Farm stuff, if you're into that sort of thing!) and one of the associates saw me perusing the selection. They asked if I was finding everything I needed and I told them I was looking for cactus soil, so they grabbed a set of keys and led me out to their nursery. WHO EVEN KNOW THIS WAS HERE? It's out behind the store and seriously amazing. So many succulents, cacti, small planters, even macrame plant hangers...it's a total dream. The guy who helped me let me know that if I ever just need to access the nursery, just ring the bell outside and someone will come open it. I found everything I needed and someone even helped me carry the big bag of soil to my car. Parking is easy on the street and this whole little section of Altadena is charming--kind of reminds me of where I grew up in the Midwest. Highly suggest Altadena Hardware for any of your upcoming home improvement or gardening projects!

I love Altadena Hardware. I typically can find whatever I need. Just today I had Robert Caskey help me. He often helps me and the he always great. He knows what he is doing and and knows the merchandise and he has a great attitude. He is always happy and helpful. It is people like him that bring me back to this hardware store week after week.

Got my window screens done by them this weekend! Super affordable and they got it done in 2 days! What really stood out to me was the staff.. everyone was so nice and helpful! They seemed to love each other like a family. Great vibes from this store. Thanks guys!

I come here at least once a month, and occasionally a couple of times each weekend. The store has a huge selection of really practical things for household repairs, and a large assortment of specialized fasteners that help me maintain my vintage European cars. The store is also well staffed with knowledgable people, which is extremely rare these days when so many specialty stores hire people who only trained in "retail sales" but who actually know nothing about what they are selling. Altadena Hardware is different: the people who work there know their stuff.

This is a good hardware store when you're in a pinch and need something quick. We don't have a home depot yet in Pasadena, which is about 30% cheaper than anything in this store but if you need it now it's worth getting here. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly and always willing to help. But my grievance is with the policy of giving the employees bottles of plastic water and then using that water in plastic bottles to water plants. In this climate crisis using plastic bottles is so selfish and careless. As a hardware store, installing a water tap seems fundamental instead of wasting hundreds of plastic bottles every month. When I asked the clerk about the policy she said they only use plastic bottles that were opened and left, so she admits it's wasteful to just open bottles and not drink the contents. So they use it on plants instead. They sell reusable water bottles and watering cans yet use plastic water bottles for their employees and plants in the nursery. Bad form.

For its small size this place has nearly everything you might need. The employees are helpful and knowledgeable. Good old fashioned service

I went in for a part. I had the part number but in general this is a thing that does a thing that I only know the theory behind. I was rather quickly greeted and directed to where I should go which is fine because a hardware store is an elaborate resource of all sorts of things. I get to where the parts are but that specific part isn't there and then well I took it on myself to try and figure out a substitute part and then I may have asked questions to reassure myself that yes, this thing should work although it's not exactly the same it's a quality of life improvement that made me feel like my trip out to the local hardware store to pick up a $10 dollar doohickey made out of plastic rubber and stuff was in fact everything I could want or need today. Well ... outside of relief from this heatwave. But that might be a different trip for a different day.

I had THE BEST experience with Diana going above and beyond the call of duty yesterday. I needed a battery replaced in my car key, and she not only helped me by opening my key fob to see what size battery I needed but she replaced it for me! This would have cost me probably $100 to have done at the dealer, so she saved me a huge headache of going there during Covid AND saved me $100 bucks. Diana made my day yesterday and I will always give Altadena Hardware my business because of employees like her.

This little store has an amazing amount of products in stock. I am almost always able to find what I need for various jobs around the house for home and gardening. Just about every time I'm there someone will ask if I need any help, and walk me over to the appropriate aisle. Great local store!

I can always count on this old-fashioned hardware store to have what I need and the knowledgeable staff to help me find it! I say "old-fashioned" because they still practice attentive customer service like back in the day when the customer was king. The staff are helpful, explanatory, and above all, knowledgeable! When you call on the phone to find something, they actually ask questions to understand what you're looking for, and truly go and look through the store to confirm they have it before you drive there. For me today it was a specialty drill bit set. When I got there, Luis helped me search the inventory to find exactly what I was looking for...and gave me some interesting history on this type of item as he did! Before you hit the big box retailer, try spending your time and your dollars at this local neighborhood gem. We're so lucky to have Altadena Hardware!

Love it here. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Every single employee asked me if I needed help finding anything. With a smile of course :) I had a project in mind on a whim, came here and and didn't know the names of anything I needed. A young man helped me find everything and it came out perfect! Will be back here for all my projects !

Such a great hardware store. I live next to a Home Depot and gladly drive the extra 15 minutes to buy from Altadena Hardware. Good quality tools, excellent selection, and incredibly helpful staff. Really can't stress the quality, they have plenty of USA made products - everything I've purchased from here feels built to last. 10/10.

Amazing customer service. Went looking for a reducer for our bidet. We left there with nothing in hand because the knowledgable young man helped me understand that we were installing it incorrectly. Support local businesses.

Came in looking for some items that I could have maybe purchased at Home Depot. I have avoided supporting Home Depot because their service is so bad. I found this place on yelp! And I'm so glad I did!! The staff here is super helpful and readily accessible and available to assist and answer any questions!! Anthony and Robert were extremely helpful and had such great attitudes!! The store is fully stocked and super well organized and clean! Their price points are very reasonable! They have ample parking right in front of the shop and it's FREE and easy! Overall I would highly recommend this shop! It's like the Trader Joe's of Hardware stores!

I love this place. You walk in and someone greets you and ask you what you need. They tell you what aisle to go to and radio another person to meet you in that aisle to get you what you need. Excellent customer service. I highly recommend this little gem in Altadena.

This place is a pleasant hidden gem in a sparse area for handy stuff for fixing up around the house. We were immediately met with smiles and pleasant support! We were so blown away by the customer care and support. We came in not knowing what type of fastener we needed and the handsome (lol) handyman helped us with what we needed. Didn't feel talked down to (usually what happens when at a Home Depot) We go to check out and the lovely women smiled as we complemented the service. Then she made a joke: we have everything, this place is great even full of cute guys! (She was right) Bottom line: excellent service, great selection and HUMOR! Support your local businesses :)

I have lived around the corner from here since 2005 and anytime I need something I just walk over. Competitive prices, friendly / knowledgeable staff and just about anything you'd need (even a lawn mower). This is literally main street Mayberry and you can just park right at the front door. A number of other businesses you can walk to from here also: grocery store, liquor store, barber shop, pharmacy, dry cleaner, State Farm agent, etc....... Forget driving to "the big box store" when you can shop locally with a staff that actually knows what they're doing.

Small hardware store but perfect for us locals. Beats going to Home Depot! I'm a huge believer in supporting local, small owned businesses especially now during such hard times. Staff is also very helpful. They also carry the Yeti brand. I bought a couple Yeti pieces as Father's Day gifts. If you need help/information the staff is more than willing to help. With COVID there may be a line to get in the store. They also have a rewards program you can join if you'd like. Parking is shared with other businesses but it typically isn't an issue finding parking. Altadena Hardware is independently owned however, they are part of the True Value family. This store is perfect for anything from remodels, fixes, and DIY projects. Their prices are also good. You can shop online and pick up in store.
