Altamirano's Italian Ristorante

Altamirano’s has a refined yet casual ease that is welcoming. They do the classics very well and I would highly recommend the polpette ($14 plus tax), frutti di mare ($34) and the chicken Parmesan ($29.95). The service was very attentive without being obtrusive. They did forget the cannolis but quickly remedied the situation.

Amazing! Food was so good, seafood was fresh! Pasta was done to perfection and the sauces were seasoned well. The apps were great, we loved the calamari, shrimp & fish app- it was a fun twist instead of just calamari. We finished it all off with a special sampler dessert which was fun and the best way to try one of each! Atmosphere was great, super clean and well designed. Service, personable, professional and fun! Luis was AMAZING! I wish you all great success! We WILL be back!

This place is the best!! Staff is amazing, food and drinks are incredible. You won’t be disappointed here!!! Great spot for date night or a gathering.

We are so happy for the family & team behind Altamirano's. We have become quite fond of coming here since its opening in May 2025. We have tried a handful of dishes, some more than once: lamb chops (excellent), roast chicken (perfectly seasoned) with roasted potatoes and crisp, roasted asparagus, a classic Caesar featuring the best romaine lettuce I've seen in months, meatballs, beet salad, fritto misto, watermelon salad, ravioli, spaghetti, octopus salad, truffle fries, numerous fish specials and delicious desserts including our two favorites so far, the cheesecake (and I never order cheesecake anywhere!) and the tiramisu. We love the staff and bartenders; everyone works seamlessly together like an orchestra, making it fun to watch. If we've asked for a drink off the menu or an adjustment to our entree or salad, they offer suggestions on how they can make what we want happen. Perfect for a date night at the bar, occasionally they have on a big game, a classic family gathering, or even a big party or work event, the space, menu, and bar offer a variety of ways for patrons to celebrate and enjoy this new local gem. We look forward to bringing more friends and family to meet the Altamirano family for years to come. I’ve eaten here twice so far, both times with different groups of friends. We all love this restaurant! It’s a great space, the service is warm and friendly and the food is fantastic. There are a great many different Italian dishes to choose from, pastas, seafood, lamb and even a Gorgonzola cheese burger.

I went there with my husband and mom last week, and wow was I thrilled. The ambiance is perfect: lots of space between the tables, quiet, charming, classy. The food was outstanding (I had spaghetti and meatballs and a very good glass of Merlot) and the portions were huge. And the service was great. Also, for its location and overall quality, it's very reasonably priced. Just a fabulous restaurant.

Sumptuous meal cooked to perfection! From drinks, appetizers to dessert — 100% delicious!! satisfying my taste buds and tummy (for its reasonable quantity). I will definitely come back! Highly recommended! Everything in the menu is a must-try!! You’ll never regret it! We enjoyed the cozy place plus the staff’s excellent service. I can’t wait to visit Altamiranos again!

The service is friendly and attentive. You can also ask for customization as I got special fresh truffle on ink pasta! • Love the dessert sampler — ideal for those who can’t decide (like me!). • Unlike many nearby restaurants, the music here isn’t too loud, so you can actually enjoy a conversation. Tables are nicely spaced for privacy. Highly recommend — this might just become your go-to spot too!

Daniel was a delight at the bar! He was very tentative and friendly. I tried the restaurant week meal it was pretty good. I especially enjoyed the branzino. The decor was very fancy looking as well. They had pretty hooks on the edge of the bar. Thank you!

Had a birthday lunch here and it was great. The staff is so nice and accommodating. Food was great as well.

Newly opened Italian restaurant in UES on York. Most dishes were very delicious including one of the specials which was a nice Sea Bass with white wine and capers. I really enjoyed the kale, wish there was more or that I could order it as a side! The lamb appetizer was also very flavorful. My partner ordered the short rib but surprised to be served what appeared to be chuck or perhaps just not the greatest short rib. Service was excellent, was very attentive, couldn't ask for more. Beautiful restaurant, I saw another complaint about sports on the TV but actually this time around it was art, which was a cute addition to the ambiance. We had some wine and cocktails, I was pleasantly surprised by how good and balanced the cocktails were. We had the Golden Ember and Gold Rush, which were both quite tasty. Overall a pretty decent experience!

Wow. I watched them as they were preparing this business and was impressed by the attention to detail. Tried this evening and was not disappointed. Generous portions, super friendly attention. We'll be back!

Just paid $60 for a dinner I threw away. Chicken Parmesan was burnt to a crisp no sauce on it and barely any sauce on the spaghetti. Ordered Brussels sprouts and got broccolini with charred squash. Disgusting meal. Would never order from there again.

New neighborhood favorite! We had multiple great dishes, from appetizers to pastas, entrees and desserts. Staff was friendly and service was great. We will absolutely be back!

Absolutely delightful meal! The beet and burrata appetizer was amazing, and the soft shell crab special and the braised short ribs were both incredible. I will definitely eat here again.

Solid Italian place with nice bar and plenty of space. Also not noisy. Menu a little small and staff entirely Latin American (as opposed to Italian), if you care about those things.

Very good, takeout was prepared and packed nicely as well. This is a new spot - it's worth the visit!

I have been wanting to try this new addition to the neighborhood since it opened and finally made it last night. It did not disappoint! I can see this becoming one of my regular neighborhood spots for a consistently good Italian meal with great service. The chicken parm was absolutely delicious, as were the special spicy Brussels sprouts. Also the espresso martini was perfect. So happy to have this restaurant in our neighborhood. Definitely check them out for a great Italian meal!

Food was amazing and the Atmosphere and Kindness of the Staff was a 10 out of 10 !! We can't wait to be back - Huge add for the Neighborhood!

Altamirano's is a great restaurant. The food was exceptional and the service was great. I have known the team for more than 10 years. Every dish we had was very good to excellent (and we had many as well let Daniel and team create a tasting menu for us). They didn't have one of the specials that I usually ordered at the restaurant that they previously worked at and they said the quality that they saw today from their purveyor was not to their standards. The team clearly cares about quality and the experience. Some of the previous reviews need to be chalked up to the growing pains of a new restaurant. If you live on the Upper East Side, this is a restaurant that we need to frequent and support. It has the potential to become an institution for us over the next decade. I would expect to visit about once a month and will definitely book special events there for work and my family.

Returned for the second time. While the place looks good from the street, inside and back from the windows, the place is bleek. The food is uneven--often just poorly prepared. Salads are good, but pasta dishes are pretty poor and other dishes just not well prepared. This is a mediocre place if you know good cooking. Atmosphere is ok, but food is less than ordinary.

Hubby and I have been twice--wonderful both times. Arancini, crab cake, clams oreganato and beets and burrata apps are so delicious. Vongole pasta and brazino as mains, delicious. So flavorful. The tartufo dessert is traditional with the cherry and hazelnut; my husband's favorite. The staff is so kind and friendly--we are making it a 1x a week event. So glad they've come to our neighborhood. (PS--The space is light and airy--such a nice rehab of a space that was kinda 'dark'.)

My wife and I had dinner this evening. We live less than 2 blocks away so we really wanted to love the restaurant. It's good for the neighborhood to have a thriving restaurant along York. We had a reservation but it wasn't necessary. It was early, but the restaurant did fill up to about half. The service was efficient and the decor is pleasing. I had the special which was soft shell crabs and they were exceptionally delicious. One small negative and one that makes us hesitant to return. The large TV showing the ballgame is out of place in this kind of restaurant. The much bigger issue is that as we left and encountered the server and host neither acknowledged us. No thank you. They clearly saw us. That left a bad impression on us. This being a new restaurant it especially matters how you treat your diners. It wasn't that crowded so it's not like they missed us. I hope this was a one off and they just got distracted. I wanted to give 5 stars ,but I just can't get over the indifference we were shown.
