Worth a stop in if you are in the area! Beer options are plentiful, great space, vibe, and super clean! This beer AND Kombucha is so refreshing! Something for everyone on the menu! Such a good hang out spot, after work, date night, and more. Dog Friendly too! I can't wait to be back!

Reviewing the retail operations... I recently ordered a couple of items and only received one. I reached out several times and left a few voicemails with no response. I was pretty annoyed after a couple of weeks went by. Then Ryan stepped in. He was responsive, explained the issue, and worked to resolve it. He then went way above and beyond and delivered a similar item TO. MY. DOORSTEP! I'll also still get the original item once available. This is exceptional customer service, customer retention, and how to create loyalty. I don't even like beer, but I'm going to Altamont Beer Works anyway. Thank you Ryan!

This place is great. The beer never disappoints and they are friendly and efficient. They offer SWAG for purchase such as growlers, hats, shirts and stickers. You can get your growler filled but it is actually cheaper to purchase the cans if they have your favorite type available. The environment is friendly and welcoming. They have barstools, large tables, couches and stand up tables where you can enjoy your beer. They do not serve food but there is a large food truck outside where you are able to make purchases and they will bring it in for you. I am assuming that the food truck is always there or there is a daily rotation of trucks. When I went, there was a wood oven truck that served pizza, sandwiches, fries, ribs and more. It's a great way to spend the afternoon and I would visit more often if they were closer to me. This brewery is closely tied to the bay area and you can see it in the beer, decorations and brand.

Google
Super impressed with these guys! Great Bay-Area culture throw backs with the graffiti and top notch beer. I had a taster flight and each one would have made a terrific pint. Good selection of swag and plenty of space for groups. Corn hole for an ice breaker is always welcome! I recommend the “Undersized IPA”

Google
The Altamont Beer Works was the 1st brewery in Livermore, since the prohibition. The brewery produces more than 13k barrels of beer in 3 different warehouses. I was impressed to discover they are a 2 million dollar company and create nearly 40 different kinds of beer a year. The assortment of beers range from: white beer / fruit ale / Dark lager / golden ale/ ipas and red ales. There are plenty of to-go 4 packs available for purchase. I would recommend reading the beer list and descriptions on the Altamont Beer Works website, if you are not able to sample any of their beers. I would have bought quite a bit more, if I had known more about the beers. The brewery was cleaning their lines at the time of my visit. The taproom is available for indoor seating Thursday through Sunday from noon until 8pm. The other days, they are only open for beers to-go. Shipping is available in California only for a $25 fee. The staff is personable and offered suggestions on beer that might appease my palette. Unfortunately, the beertender was not accurate in the beer they recommended for me. Since I wasn't able to spend more than 15 minutes at this brewery, I cannot suggest it as a good date spot. IG: SACRAMENTOHONEY

Google
Love it here! Always a great time! Great beer and chill atmosphere! Thank you! You made my Mother's day very special!

Richard L.

Google
Great beer! Although the space is large and has high ceilings, it has a cozy feeling. If you like watching sports on TV, you're in luck here. The crowd is friendly and convivial (~usually~). If course, the staff is great and can help you choose a beer, if necessary. Don't be afraid to request a sample or two. The beer: lagers, IPAs, reds, stouts, etc. There should be something to satisfy everyone in your group.

Google
Altamont has changed their tap room.....looks AMAZING!! There were several beers to choose from and there is plenty of seating now, so you can bring your own food and snacks. With the new upgrade though, dogs are no longer allowed. We had a great time!!

Yelp
This is a hoppy beer lovers dream of a place. Altamont actually has made enough of name for themselves that I see it regularly at many bars/restaurants out in the east bay. Actually my friends and I are super famililiar and are regular drinkers of 2 of their IPAs, the Maui Waui which has acidic tropical notes and their Hella Hoppy, which is kinda my go-to these days for a night cap...very assertive hop backbone in a well balanced malt profile. And I've probably had over a hundered Altamont beers within the past 8 years or so, BUT I've never gone to their actual spot in the cuts of Livermore. Until recently. It is actually such a beer dudes place that it was almost stereotypical in my short visit there for a quick tasting. Almost all dudes in the bar area, all in shorts and a baseball cap of sorts (probably to mask some pattern balding). Every dude was well over 30, so dad bods galore and all probably well into their careeers, so no bums in here really. I'd say all had at least a goat tee if not a beard and 90% of them had a large dog on a leash by their feet under that bar stool. Never seen anything like it before, like every dog was 30 pounds or heavier, so when the dogs got on their feet, there definitely was a lot of butt/groin sniffing and occasionally a quick growl or bark for a particular dog who didn't want all the attention. Lol But overall I fit in more than I didn't so beer wins. Beer Flight Tasting ($12/5*) First off it is a really great price for a tasting flight. You can pick 5 from at least 20 that's currently on tap. It is actually a bit tedious having to look up at their screen to scroll to see what would fit you. Lots of text and you have to do it standing on the bar counter as the screen is only visible from one corner of the bar. Nice 5-6 oz pours in cool little tasting snifters in a cool stainless steel caddy holder. Just write in your 5 on piece of paper and the flight will be brought to you at your seat. When I go to a brewery where I'm familiar with their beers, I will never order something that I've had many times at another bar/restaurant, no matter how much I like it. I am simply there to learn something new. I always will start with something lighter then move to a medium strength beer like a Pale Ale then always have some higher gravity ones toward the end, like a strong IPA or a dark beer. I didn't love all the beers tasted but I did like enough of them to bring some home. Didn't really like their lighter styles but that's not really a surprise as anytime I get into an Altamont beer it is usually for a good punch. I tried 2 pale ales, with one being much more special, their Green Collar Pale totally fits my palate. In any other era, this would actually be deemed as an IPA but in today's hop crazed beer world, this is considered light. But I'd say more balanced, which tends to fit my preferences. Ended up taking 2 4-packs home for my buds to try and we all enjoyed them thoroughly as they were flavors that we don't see at other places. And their take-away beers are very reasonably priced being around $14-$16, as many places want to charge about $20 for a four pack. Props Altamont love how you're here for the common working dude. Drops extra star!

Yelp
This has been our pit stop for 10 years when we do road trips on our way home to Redwood City. They have in house up to 20 beers, IPA's, Loger...lots of variety! Very clean! The reason for the 3 stars is the service. We always sit at the bar but every time we have to hail down the beer tenders. I get the vibe that they're chatting it up with the regulars & I understand that but they should also pay attention to who arrives and anticipate when another drink might be requested vs the customer waiting until they're done with the conversation to ask. Today was no different but it's the quality of the beer & nice stop before we close out our road trip! I just know what to expect.

Yelp
Let's start by saying I am not an adventurous beer drinker. I am boring at best but enjoy checking out new places. Was in the area with my sister and we thought it would be a good idea check out Altamont for a beer. Jada served us and was helpful in picking out something I would like. I told her what I normally drink and she picked out the Cerveza Murrieta for me. My sister went with the Barry White. Both beers were refreshing and perfect cold temperature. We enjoyed our time with Jada, excellent customer service. It was a chill atmoshpere, TV's were on, wasn't too busy and not too loud. The tap room was nice and cool, also clean. You could sit at the bar or they had seating options along the rest of the room. Lots of fun merchandise for purchase as well as beer to go in cans or growlers. The do not serve food but have a food truck right outside the door. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Fantastic beer with plenty of place to sit and mingle. I was also surprised by how much branded apparel and accessories they had (golf apparel, hats, shorts, sweatshirts, stickers, magnets, etc.)! Definitely a nice place to stop if you're in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Whyyy do you guys hate hazy IPAs?! First time coming here as I was visiting my brother who lives in the area and knows I like trying new breweries anywhere I go. Maybe I'm just a basic conformist, but with how many beers they offer, I thought I would for sure be able to find a hazy I enjoy. However, after reading "MAKE BEER CLEAR AGAIN!" at the end of the description of their "Juice Above the Clouds" IPA, it became clear to me... that my beer would only be clear this time around lol. Not a problem, we adapt! Purchased a 5-beer flight (see attached photos for names). Ended up leaving with a 4-pack of the Shot Away IPA, as it was my favorite of the five. Like most breweries, Altamont is located in an industrial area, in a large building. The staff was friendly and helped out with some NA beverages for the NA drinkers in our group, which they appreciated. I do wish there was outside seating, because it was a beautiful day when we came, but I also know it gets scorching hot there during the summer. I would definitely visit again, and it's very possible this review could change from 4 stars to 5 if they ever offered a hazy! KTHXBYE

Yelp
Our favorite brewery. We meet our family members there often. They don't mind if you bring the grandkids now and then. They also usually have a food truck out in front which is nice but they sell snacks, T-shirts, and sweatshirts. And beer ! Lol They seem to have brer that satisfies all of our varied preferences. The employees are always kind and helpful. If you haven't been there, you're missing out ;)

Yelp
Decent beers and limited selections for a brewery. Parking was hard to find. Friendly staff and chill environment.

Yelp
Great variety of beers. Good atmosphere and super friendly staff. Dylan is a great bartender who knows his stuff. Always a food truck available as well. Recommend coming in for a cold one or two.

Yelp
Can't believe it had been 7 years since my last visit. What a complete change from that last visit. Came here on the 5th and wanted to see all the changes I was told about by another very loyal customer. I really like what they have done to the place and the expansion. Very very clean with plenty of seating at and away from the bar. Bar is huge which is great and a very good selection of beer. Staff is way beyond friendly. The merch selection is huge and every selection I want to buy. now for the food that was outside. WOW really good. it was a company called Karnitas Tek. food is fresh and great quality. I will NOT wait another 7 years to come back and visit. But I will say since my last visit I have drank a ton of their beer. One of my favorite breweries.

Professor A.

Yelp
No frills beer concept that's common around Livermore. No food except a few snacks behind the counter and food trucks are outside. Event space so there was live music and other activities. Dogs allowed. I didn't really enjoy the beer but that's in the eye of the beholder. Plastic cups for the beer - not my thing, but maybe because there was an event going on. Tasting available.

Yelp
Great spot for afternoon beers, pre dinner beers, beers with the boys, beers with your date, or just picking up beers to go! Altamont has tons of flavors if you like IPAs. They've got a smattering of other beers as well. Solid service here too, the staff is always nice and helpful to get you going with a full glass. They've got a large parking lot, so make sure to roll up with a crew. Plenty of to go cans in addition to growler pours. Can't go wrong with a day at Altamont!
google avatar

Yelp
We love Altamont Beer and love stopping by whenever we are in the area. The tap room has stand up seating and high tops. The location is pet friendly and you will see a lot of cute pups hanging out with their K-9 lovers. You can order at the counter and start a tab. Beers come out quick and there's always something new to try. I love IPAs.

Yelp
I've heard great things about Altamont over the years, and I finally had the opportunity to visit the brewery for the first time. My girlfriend and I visited on a calm Friday afternoon and were impressed by the extensive selection of beers available. The menu is simple yet offers a variety of options, catering to anyone interested in visiting the brewery. Whether you're into beers, sours, or even kombucha, they have something for everyone. They also have a food truck out front, and we decided to try the birria tacos. They hit the spot and were pretty inexpensive, and also seemed to be a popular choice among other patrons as well. The brewery itself is a well kept space with plenty of seating and unique lighting, featuring rustic bulbs and beer kegs reutilized as shades. The staff was very friendly and helpful, assisting us with our beers and ringing us up for a pack to go. I highly recommend giving Altamont a visit; you're in for some great beers and a wonderful time.

Yelp
Very chill atmosphere with a wind turbine theme. Big FAN of the rotating menu & alternating food trucks!

Geoffrey K.

Yelp
I always liked going to the ABW when in Livermore, but today there are a number of little things that make it average, the QR code for the tap list doesn't work, the beer list changes when you are looking at it to put an advert up, the too loud music and an average beer. Would have been nice to have an outdoor option as well.
google avatar

Vanessa S.

Yelp
Was in the area and my fiancé wanted to come here as he is into craft beers. They have a good selection of beers and you can also buy some to take home. And they also have a taco truck outside that sells really good quesabirra tacos and it comes with the broth. The parking lot is small and tight so it's best to get there early to get a spot. But also if your not into beer there are a couple wine tasting places right next door.
google avatar

Yelp
One of our favorites to stop at in the Bay Area! The beers are a hit and so are the taco trucks

Yelp
Went to Altamont Beer Works last weekend with my wife, son, and her parents. The wife and parents thought it was a little too loud, but the beer was great. It was fun, with great beer, and the Warriors game was on. My go-to beers when coming to Altamont are the Maui Wowi and the Maui Wowi Triple IPA. The ambiance is loud here and has a party vibe. They do allow kids, which is nice, but it is really noisy in here. Not just because people elevate the noise level, but because of the acoustics of the large commercial space they are in. Next time, I'll either come with coworkers or just my wife and let my son play at his friend or cousin's house. They don't have direct food you can order since they are not a restaurant, but they do rotate some tasty food trucks outside to fill your tummy. All in all, a positive experience with a couple of caveats.
google avatar

Alden C.

Yelp
I recently had a beer from Altamont that I liked pretty well. It was a collaboration beer with another brewery, Henhouse Brewing. Hella Stoked was the name of the beer I had and enjoyed. It was an Imperial IPA with Belma, Citra, Cashmere and El Dorado hops giving the beer a nice bit of dankness and generating a nice, light and clean body. The piney, dry and hoppy flavor profile makes this a highly respectable IPA and from my experiences collaboration beers sometimes are a notch or two above some breweries' flagship beers.
google avatar

Michael F.

Yelp
Good location, excellent service and relaxed vibe with a great beer selection on draft and to go. Nothing but good things to say about Altamont! Check their website for a rotating list of food trucks on site.
google avatar

Kaelin N.

Yelp
First time here! It is sure crowded but the vibes were immaculate! Our group of 7 was able to snag a table. Ordering was a little confusing as there's a QR code menu but you can't order though that. You have to go up to the bar to order, so I do wish that was a little more clear. The berry white was not as expected and disappointing. But I really really enjoyed the Nutty Operator so much that I ended up purchasing 2 Crowlers to bring home! There was a taco truck outside that had some pretty good stuff!! I'd come back and get another flight and try some more beers. I wish that had some more wheat beers, since I generally learn towards Hefeweizens. But it's refreshing to try new things.
google avatar

Kevin K.

Yelp
Second visit, almost 4 yrs to the day of my first trip. Pretty cool coincidence. Went in for the first release of White Helliphant and had a great beer flight! Beertenders were super busy but still made time to serve everyone with a smile. It won't be 4 yrs til I go back!
google avatar

Yelp
Finally got to stop in and have a beer and pick up some to-go's . Friendly people and good selection thanks for the stickers! Keep that beer clear and tasty!
google avatar

Christie W.

Yelp
The food trucks that they have are diverse and so delicious. Service is great, and the ambiance is vibrant.

Yelp
Had a great time with friends. Bartender was nice and ambience was okay beer selection was good.

Yelp
We are sooo happy our dog can join us for a beer at our FAVORITE brewery now!! We celebrated my boyfriends birthday there this past Saturday. The most perfect day. We brought pizzas for us and our friends and my amazing boyfriend brought the staff their own large pizza as well! We all finished the day with a round of mini beer shots to toast with Altamonts FANTASTIC staff. Thank you everyone for a great day!
google avatar

Doug B.

Yelp
Looks like I am overdue for an update its been 5 years. Well they listened to me (yeah right) and expanded their tasting room a few years ago and its a winner. Lots more space although they still get packed on weekends its so popular and its sometimes hard to find a table but its a hundred percent better than the tiny space they used to occupy. Beer is still outstanding and they do a pretty good job at the bar keeping up with orders. The only thing this place is missing and its a pretty big thing in my opinion with other taprooms opening and competing like Dust Bowl is an outdoor space and seating. Dust Bowls new facility is way better in terms of an outdoor area, Altamont has none but they have better beer for sure but they really need and outdoor area.
google avatar

Danny N.

Yelp
Altamont is a great stop for beer lovers! I love seeing their brand grow and be served in more local taprooms. This location is super cute. I was disappointed that they had no sours in their cold case or on tap but hopefully they will next time! Lots of cool art work on the walls here too
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
Maui waui!!! I love this brewery. The staff is always great. They usually have a rotation of food trucks that park outside. Thank you for being dog friendly again!!!!

Jonathon L.

Yelp
Great beer, fast service and a welcome feeling all around, a wonderful place to grab a craft beer and enjoy your time.

Yelp
Altamont Beer Works is what you would expect from your local brewery. It has a good range of beer selection. I typically drink IPAs had they had a lot of on tap that day. They taste overall refreshing and nice. The place itself has a lot of open space so and its a good place to just chill with some friends. Service was overall good as well. Good brewery!
google avatar

Crystal H.

Yelp
We came here Saturday around 6pm. Staff was nice to let us sample some beers. We liked the berry white fruit ale and nutty operator peanut butter stout. Tried the Maui Waui tropical ipa but it was just ok.
google avatar

Micah S.

Yelp
Love this place. Beer is always amazing and the atmosphere inside makes everything so enjoyable. They were sold out of their west coast collab with Ghost Town which was a bummer. I was able to try it at a different tap house and was honestly a top 5 best IPA I've ever had. Wish I could find it in Phoenix where I live.
google avatar

Kari B.

Yelp
I wanted to add my cute photo of my birthday flight! I so wish I lived closer to this awesome place!

Yelp
Just the name alone should create interesting debate and dialogue to anyone that enjoys American History and nostalgia. The name alone "Altamont" brings a hard contrast between Woodstock and the peace, love and freedom associated with 1969. Flash forward to 2022 and you would be hard pressed to find people that know the name Altamont as anything other than the BeerWorks. Good thing the beer is on point and the service is excellent. Here is my attempt at tasting beer like wine! Here are my notes on the first flight; Pilsner is dry, clean and laser sharp with a touch of roast like a sunflower seed... Clean finish, light viscosity. Avoids that nasty funk like cheap American lagers. That being said, my second favorite (don't laugh} is the Nutty Professor which is a peanut butter Stout without going over the top on the Peanut Butter. Think of it as a mild Stout with hints of Skippy or Jif on the palate. Seriously...It works. My favorite of the evening was the special release Maui Waui X 3! Yes, a triple that drinks as smooth as Pliney The Elder but with the extra ABV (alcohol by volume for you newbs, no offense). Overall, this is one of the signature breweries in California not to be missed on your Mecca inspired tour of craft beer.
google avatar

Brenda G.

Yelp
What a fun place. Haven't been here since they remodeled a while back, but it looks great! Love the beer keg chandelier/lights. Nice and big, lots of TVs for all the games, and a great selection of beer. Every Wednesdays are "Wing Wednesdays"! Besides their wings, they also have one other item on the menu. The Wednesday we went they had their usual wings, and also a BLT with amazing fries! The staff at Altamonte Beer Works, as well as the couple outside cooking for New Tradition Kitchen are very friendly. We will definitely be returning.
google avatar

Sheilan N. Zuniga C.

Yelp
My only complaint would be, their restrooms. They need to work more on keeping them clean, honestly when you first walking in you smell beer mixture of pee.
google avatar

L C.

Yelp
Bar workers are bloody awful. I was ecstatic to visit the brewery the first time. I mentioned that I was unfamiliar with the menu and the girl behind the bar's response was "okay." I had to guide her into showcasing the beers she's responsible for selling. She was clueless about the beers they had on tap. Terrible customer service and no sense of welcoming. I was eager to purchase a crowler with the beer I tried, but the heavy-set, bearded guy in charge of the taps suggested a 4 pack instead because it's "cheaper", but in reality he was just too lazy to do his job. I won't be returning or recommending this brewery. It's a pity because their drinks were actually pretty good. Ambience is trashy. Loud drunken men and perverted old men who go out of their way to make women uncomfortable. Shit service and unsettling environment.
google avatar

Samir K.

Yelp
Great brewery in the wine/beer alley off Vasco in Livermore. There's a large variety of beers, and they even have a whole Mac Dre-inspired line, which is pretty entertaining. There's usually a food truck available- when we went it was a Mexican place that was pretty good! They let you eat inside too. This place is very popular for the area, and is probably worth a day trip from anywhere in the Bay!
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
Been coming here since they opened their first small tasting room. Love the Shot Away (Shelter) and Maui are my favs. Come for the beers and stay for the people.
google avatar

Janice M.

Yelp
Beers are okay. Not what we expected. They probably have a couple the I liked. Place is kid friendly which is a plus and they have a taco food truck outside.

Jim V.

Yelp
Used to be about giving customers what THEY want, now it's about doing what Altamont wants to do. Went in and asked if they have anything like a hazy, got a long arrogant lecture about why people are basically sheep for liking a product that been around for many decades. No one does this for ambers, pilsners, lagers, west coasts, stouts, etc (all of which I also drink) --why take a grouchy 'get off my lawn' attitude instead of assuming your customers are making independent choices for THEIR reasons? Beer should be about discovery and joy.
google avatar

Pranamee S.

Yelp
Not a beer person but this is such a huge place to just hangout with other beer lovers that I couldn't resist. I couldn't resist even trying some of their beers. Interestingly they have a Rose Beer.. umm.. I liked it! I don't know why, I can't really tell what made the difference because it wasn't as sweet like a Rose but probably some notes that mentally consoled me about it being a Rose Derivative, somehow! Possible. They have some nice pale ale. They also have Michelado!!!!! They usually have food trucks so that's great because you can buy the food and bring them in. They have flights as well and have generous pouring for even "Tastings" so that's awesome. Conveniently located in the Wine Valley and right opposite the Woods Family Winery.
google avatar

Teox C.

Yelp
Good bartenders, good music, chill vibe, plenty of seating and food trucks outside. They have a lounge for the 21 and up folks. With board games and books a TV ( a good spot if you want to be in a more quiet scene). Good beer selection.
google avatar

Yelp
This was a fun time w/ great company. We were able to get a table in the back extended area. There was a setup for corn hole. Was a fun time until a families came w/ about 10 kids that were screaming and running around and underneath our tables the rest of the time we were there. I usually have patience for that, being a mother. Their parents couldn't care less that they were doing that barefoot leaving their shoes everywhere. So much for corn hole. If they weren't running around screaming they were laying on top of the game or putting the garage chains around their necks for fun. Accidents waiting to happen. It wasn't necessarily the venues fault, but no one that wished there seemed to care either way as well. This was our second time there. Other than the kids, we always had a great time and the food vendors or food trucks that they have are usually very tasty.

Yelp
DONT CHANGE THIS YEARS SCARCITY!!!! This is the best yet by far. Drinkable not boozy real tasty. This has got to be the best recipe yet . Keep it going guys CHEERS!!

Yelp
Hubby is a huge, HUGE fan of Altamont beer... so we finally made our way to Altamont Beer Works. We arrived on a Saturday, at around 4pm, and the place was crowded with many happy beer drinkers. Luckily, we were able to grab a table for our party of 5 as the place stayed consistently crowded. I'm not much of a beer drinker... therefore, I can't really comment on the beers... except that the hubby and our pals were thrilled with the beer selection. As for me, I found staff to be extremely helpful and patient while I tried to make a decision on what beer to get... and after several "tastes".... I went with the Berry White. And being that I'm not a beer drinker, I was able to order a mini-glass of beer which was the size of one of the flight glasses. High five to the staff!! All in all, everyone in our party had a great time. In short - Altamont Beer Works has friendly staff, a clean facility that is kid friendly, a food truck on hand (on this day, it was Rustic Roadhouse - YUM!), clean bathrooms, filtered water to keep you hydrated, and many clothing options if you want to purchase Altamont gear =) It seems that parking can be tough... but after circling one time around, we were able to snag a spot right in front. There are many people coming and going, so I don't expect parking to be tooooooo bad. Cheers!

Yelp
Since they reopen, they only allowed Indoor/Drink-in between Thursday and Sunday. No Food serve.
