Alte Mühle Thomas Höreth

"With this individual and thoroughly charming establishment the Höreth family have created a wonderful retreat. The guest lounges are lovingly decorated and the inner courtyard is idyllic. This is a real gem of a place, which also has its own wine estate. Slightly higher up, charming rooms are available for guests to stay the night." - Michelin Inspector

An absolutely outstanding dining experience. The food was exceptional — every dish was full of flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly made with great care. The service matched the quality of the cuisine: attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the entire evening. The location itself is truly enchanting, with a dreamy atmosphere that adds something magical to the whole experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable and refined culinary outing.

After a short tour to Koblenz it was well worth the 0,5h drive to this cosy and charming restaurant. So tranquil setting and beautiful garden. We had the housemade smoked salmon with rösti and the wildboar sausages- both excellent prepared !

A hidden charming place. I came today with my husband to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We saw the recommendation in the Michelin guide list and took the opportunity. The place its like out of a book, very nice, cozy and clean. The attention at the reception was good and the lady who greeted us was very nice and friendly. We were seated in a cellar and our table got different napkins, as we commented on the reservation that we were going to celebrate our anniversary, it was a very sweet touch. For me as non-german (but I do speak it very well) was a bit difficult to read the menu. It was a tat difficult because the menu is beautifully written by hand (in cursive), so maybe expect to request help from the staff. We ordered a white wine, grauburgunder, which for my taste was delicious. For food we ordered a potato soup and the garlic bread to start. Then we moved to the trout and the beef steak. The steak was amazing. For desert we had rice pudding and the apple pie, we recommend the second. The food was delicious, we were very happy. By the time of paying the server brought us a small card wishing us a happy anniversary and a carpe diem stone. Very beautiful gesture. We recommend this place very much and hope to visit it again soon.

Absolutely charming ambiance. Service was friendly; occasionally a tad slow but we didn’t care. Soups were absolutely delicious, as were the platters of cold cuts and sausages. Wine was excellent. A memorable meal

This inn is visually stunning. If you imagine a fairy-tale cottage, it looks like this. Outside, roses climb on stone walls and gables, a babbling stream flows under the windows, and there is a feeling of magical history in the entry courtyard. Inside, each room in the Rose House is distinctive, with consistent details like premium linens, thoughtful art, and comfortable seating. Windows can be opened to enjoy the sound of the brook, and the birds, and have screens to keep out insects. The bathrooms are modern and luxurious. A lavish breakfast is served in the ground floor of the Rose House. (We have stayed 5 times in the Rose House. The Fountain House has slightly different style and vibe.)

This is a tough one. It is difficult to describe the feeling of luxury and the sense of perfection. The lady that welcomed us was very charming and led us to our place. At first inside in the restaurant but later we got a place outside on one of the terraces. It was enchanting and so beautiful that it was almost a fairytale. With my view on one of the cabins, I was waiting for Snow White to show herself. The food was very good and looked beautifully. Trust me, my words are not good enough. ☺️ If you are in the Mosel area, please do yourself a favor and check this place out.

The best German food I had in a long time, if not of all the times. The decor is beautiful, the courtyard is beautiful, food is very tasty and with fresh ingredients. I wish there was a smaller main dish option, because their soups on the next table looked delicious as well, would have loved to try both but portions were quite big - I could barely finish my main. But it was absolutely delicious.

This restaurant is a wonderful dining experience all around. The food is delicious, service very charming and attentive, and the homey and old world ambiance is really nice to look at. If the weather is nice, sitting in the back garden is very pleasant. Would definitely come back again!

Yelp
Car broke down in the right location!!! Just up the raod the thermostadt blew and car was disabled, ADAC to the rescue but local repar shops closed and was told needed ot stay in the area overnight to get car repaired, driver took us here assisted us in getting checked in and they graciously handed us keys to a room in their hotel and then told us they would welcome us back for dinner once the car had been dropped off and we were able to return. We were welcomed without solid reservation to a quaint table next to what appeared to be an old oven where we were seated and given menus to the warmest welcome even in English. Staff was wonderful and attentitve the entire evening and ensured our meal and drinks were on point. I had the 2015 sweet apple reisling which was crisp and refreshing, and paired wonderfully with our appetizer "Obahter" butter, cream cheese, paprika and camebert and onions with mill bread. For main meal I had tender fillet of beef which was perfectly cooked and still tender at well done. Mom had the rumpsteak which was equally as well received at a medium well. Over mom's visit this will go on the books as her favorite location and meal and well deserved for the food, staff and overall accoimodations. I'll be back with the husband to enjoy the area, staff, food and accomodations!!

Yelp
Re-opening after covid-19 break. Gosh, we missed this place. Fun night with friends in this wonderful place. The asparagus - white, rare if not available in the US - was superb.

Yelp
If you look up "charming" in the dictionary, this fabulous restaurant should be pictured. Using an old mill (seriously old) as the starting point, the owners have built a wonderful restaurant perfect for special occasions or a meal with special people. The food was delicious, the servers were attentive and friendly and the restaurant features hundreds of little things that make the entire experience pop.

Yelp
We've been happy customers of the Alte Muehle for many years. However, when we came this Summer (July 3016) we found this is no longer the unique place it used to be. The waitress was unfriendly and rushed us through our order and in the end left us with an overall impression of an overrated dining experience. Food is still very good and the place lovely but there are others around that are more reasonably priced. Our Alte Muehle turned into a money making place. We will miss it but sadly won't come back.
