Yelp
This was a one-of-a-kind experience.
I love to come in with a small group of other yelpers and try new restaurants, as we all share plates and get to try so many things.
I'm really excited that we got to do this here because this was one of the top dining experiences I've had recently in Denver.
It's inside the Clayton hotel, which has such a cute lobby, and the restaurant is moody and well decorated, with sultry lighting and modern Mexican Decor.
We started with some drinks, the avocado margarita was delicious, a little bit of a spicy cake with a yummy black salt rim. My friend had the hibiscus margarita, which was also really good.
We shared the camote asada - so good, easily could have been my favorite dish at another restaurant, but here the other plates we had even topped this.
Next came the truffle jalapeño cornbread, absolutely delicious. Has that crispy crust that goes so well with the warm doughy inside, smothered in this delicious truffle butter melting into it. So good.
We almost ordered a second one, but decided to try the Aguachile instead. I'm so glad we did, this was an amazing flavorful experience, with the juice bringing in a fruity component, along with the pomegranate seeds and almonds for texture, and the fish was so fresh. This was a very unique dish.
We had the gringa al pastor - possibly the best plate of the night, the pork was insane, exactly as it should taste, like a taco stand in Mexico. And the tortilla for the quesadilla was so rich, the sauces and toppings just made it incredible.
We ended with the Carne Asada, it took forever to come out, but was (i think?) a sous vide because it was cooked to absolute perfection. It came with a rice and beans sauce, but on the side, and a very limited amount, as well as a sauce that almost reminded me of A1.
This was my least favorite dish of the night, although the steak was so well cooked and seasoned, it could have used the sauce or component to bring the flavor profile and overall plate to the next level like we experienced with some of the earlier dishes
Still, for Denver this is a top spot, can't wait to come back and try more things
