The “director” is rude and unprofessional. They’ve made the most inconvenient changes for parents who have jobs. PSA all parents not sitting at home during the day to come in and fill out 14 pages of info whee the same info is being asked over and over . Then have to download a app to check in daily as if I’m not at work that’s easy to forget so my child won’t be coming so she can be stranded if I’m at work and forget to check her in. Last year they sent a simple Message asking if child was coming I guess they wanna soften their workload and add more to mine . I’ll find somewhere else . I’m goods just don’t use my child name for funding please and thanks

THE DIRECTOR AT THE DAYCARE IS NOT PROFESSIONAL!! I’ve caught her being disrespectful to most if not all the young moms. I personally will not allow my child to go there just for that reason.

Water unclean and taste like dirt having clean or filtered water here is said to be a luxury even for a pregnant person or a person with a child and you can not bring in your own water because its said to be a outside item.

I called to ask if they are accepting women’s clothes and shoes for donations, the woman told me they are only accepting new clothes due to Covid, I responded by saying Covid is over, she then responded even though Covid is over, this is the policy. This is insane and someone needs to look into this policy, Covid did not spread through clothes. As I was speaking to the woman she seems to be doing other things and was very rushed. Furthermore, reading the other reviews it seems like there are more issues with this place. It’s important to have quality shelters for women and girls in need.

You will not walk out feeling like you don't matter. Clothing, food, a shower, someone to talk to etc. One stop shop if you need help

I went to google to find shelters in Detroit to donate clothes. Bags of nice clothes. I called them and a lady answered, I told her I have two questions for her, in mid sentence about the bag of clothes, she cut me off and transferred me. I called back because I never finished my questions, I was forwarded to the general mailbox. A shame, because the girls/women will miss out because of a rude operator. I couldn’t reach anyone. If your rude to someone through the phone I could only imagine how you treat people in person.

Terrible place. I use to be in their program and they treated us terribly! Dirty rooms, BUGS, rude staff, and a lot of people kept getting sick too. I remember one time I asked the staff for food because they hadn’t fed us yet and she gave me some fruit snacks. I’m so glad I made it out, DON’T LIVE HERE!

5 weeks since doing multiple intakes and not one person has called back with any help, just more intakes. a complete waste of time.

Yelp
The name says it all. Alternative For Girls, a non-profit in Detroit, offers just that for high risk and homeless young women. Located on W. Grand Boulevard by the New Center area and open since 1987 AFG offers local young girls and women educational support, vocational guidance, mentoring and counseling in short. In addition, AFG also provide needed shelter to young girls who were once hopeless, aged 16-21. This fantastic non profit is offering hope and choices to girls who were hopeless. They also offer prevention programs for high risk youth including homeless women. At night staff and volunteers patrol the streets of Detroit handing out prevention packets to those in need. For more info check out their website for specifics, volunteer opportunities and history of the non-profit.

Yelp
AFG is one of Detroit's secret miracles. Their staff goes out of their way to provide empowerment, options, resources, and even shelter to women and girls who often have nothing prior to connecting with AFG. They even drive the streets looking for women and girls who may want safety information, prevention materials, or even just a friendly ear. Alternatives For Girls deals HOPE. I cannot say enough about them. They are amazing. If you are in need of assistance, call them: 313-361-4000
