My family, friends and I recently booked 6 rooms together at the Althea Roof Top Inn in Testaccio - a working neighbourhood of room close the the important places to visit. We were an easy walk to the Pyramid Metro Station, bus stops, and frequently walked along the river to get to Trastevere, the Jewish Ghetto and Historic Center. Do not let the exterior of the building concern you. You are on the fifth floor, in clean, well decorated and maintained rooms, some with windows only, some with small 2 person balconies, and a few with full well furnished terraces that were a great retreat after long days in the hot Roman sun. The terraces were large enough for our group to gather for wine and snacks after our days. There is some noise from the club at the bottom of the building, but as soon as you close your windows, it is peaceful.||In addition to the rooms, the service was outstanding. Alessandra and his team answered all my emails promptly prior to our trip, and they were very helpful with recommendations in the neighbourhood and in Trastevere. They also helped arrange drivers to pick us up from the airport, which was a nice amenity after our 9 hour flights from Canada. Housekeeping did very thorough cleaning of our rooms every day. There is a small elevator to help get luggage up the stairs (or people with mobility issues), but we did not mind to take the stairs.||Breakfast every morning was outstanding and delivered to our rooms at the time requested so we could enjoy on our terrace. Coffee, pastries, hard boiled eggs and fruit. Delicious. There are great places to eat in the neighbourhood, a little grocery at the end of the street, and a great place to grab a cocktail outside - the Tram Depot! ||Given the value, the rooms and the exceptional service, I would highly recommend Althea Roof Top Terrace and we cannot wait to visit again.
