Hong Kong travel bubble: The best places to eat - SilverKris

"Perched high above the city on the 31st floor of the V Point Tower in Causeway Bay, this modern Tom Dixon–designed grill pairs striking interiors and wraparound floor-to-ceiling windows with reliably delicious steakhouse cooking. Standout dishes include a dry-aged British Hereford prime tenderloin, a miso-glazed lamb rack and an indulgent 1.2kg Australian Wagyu tomahawk for big appetites, while a thoughtful selection of plant-powered options ensures vegetarians aren’t overlooked." - SilverKris

This is a nice restaurant with an amazing rooftop terrace with solid views. The restaurant serves mostly western dishes and quality wise is good although the Wagyu beef we ordered came more medium cooked than medium well. Rest of the dishes were good. The highlight is really the rooftop bar, with an amazing view, great music and a decent selection of drinks. Well worth the visit on a day with food weather.

I recently celebrated my Birthday at Alto Rooftop in CWB. The service, views, staff, setup and most important music and drinks were spectacular. The best birthday present was being able to spend my time at such a fine establishment. Highly recommended ! Cheap drink specials and very generous bartenders. What a great experience. Thank you to Alto and all the staff for such a memorable night.

Beautiful views and even better food! We dined for restaurant week and had the brunch set. I ordered the octopus for starters, salmon for main and croissant waffle for dessert. My boyfriend ordered the steak tartare, hanger steak, and pistachio ice cream. All our food was delicious and came beautifully presented. You also get a dinner roll to start which is a nice starting treat. Overall, Alto was a surprise hit for my boyfriend and I! From the service to the food, we’ll definitely be back!

We came to celebrate my friend's birthday, and it was a great time. The food was delicious, and the staff were very attentive and kind. We are very grateful to Mr. Saman, the restaurant manager, for providing great service to us. We will never forget it, definitely recommend this place

Food and dessert were great, meats were lovely except for the pasta which was quite hard. Staff were courteous and attentive. Restaurant was not big but we enjoyed the quiet ambiance with impressive Victoria Harbour view and chic rooftop bar. Overall above average quality food with great service at above average price.

My wife and I have dinner in Alto to celebrate her birthday. Before going I only expect a good environment for the city nightview. Indeed it's more than that, the food is exceptionally good, octopus for starter is highly recommended, as the manager Loudoun told me it's from Spain, that's why it's so soft and tasteful. Rosanna gave me a good advice to share the pumpkin soup for two such that we have room of stomach for the main food. We did enjoyed very much not just the food, but also the service and the environment. We then went up to the rooftop bar to feel the amazing outdoor view of victoria harbour! Such a wonderful night we had!

The first time I came to Alto was because of my friend's birthday invitation. At that time, I received great service from all the very friendly staff. They patiently explained the menu and recommended something special for us. Especially Mr. Saman, he served us very well and professionally. Until now, I often return to Alto, even if it's just to have a drink on the rooftop and enjoy the view there. Now Alto has become one of my favorite places.

Yelp
5 stars for view and chill spot which is not crowded. need to walk up stairs to rooftop (not clear at first). find the narrow elevator entrance on the restaurant street

Yelp
The staff at the Ibis central recommended Alto for a nice dinner. We took a cab and took the elevator to the 31st floor! What a beautiful elegant restaurant with a majestic view! We got seated without a reservation! We ordered a three piece course with a nice bottle of wine! Everything was so good! We couldn't believe our luck to dine in such a nice restaurant! After our meal, we were told we could go up stairs to an observation floor with a full bat! We had drinks while taking in the view! Epic!

Yelp
I would definitely give this place 5 stars if it were just for the location and view. Being on the 31st floor, Alto provides a spectacular view of the harbor and areas of Hong Kong while you sip some wine/cocktail and eat your dinner. However, I'd have to give this place 2 stars for the taste of the food there, as well as the service. Tip: restaurant runs cold so best to bring a jacket or cardigan to keep yourself warm!

Yelp
First of all, the view is spectacular here on the 26th floor and would be the main reason to come to Alto, not for the food. For lunch there's an interesting setup, you order an item from the menu and there's a salad & dessert buffet "included" as your starter. I ordered the cheese burger and must say it was juicy and nicely seasoned. Nothing to write home about regarding the salad buffet and dessert. For dinner, I had the ribeye steak ($450 HKD, or about $56 USD) and it was mediocre, was tendon-y and not as tender. Got truffle mashed potatoes and truffle asparagus for sides, OK Overall, a decent spot for drinks at the rooftop for a view of the city and if you're craving a burger, but otherwise I wouldn't come here solely for a meal.

Yelp
Wonderful view, overlooking the harbour and the whole, well not whole, part of causeway bay was beneath me. The buns were a bit too greasy to my taste, yet the rest of the food, the starter, the main, and the side were cooked to perfection. The chicken breast was real tender and the duck! the oil was trapped in the skin, and literally oozed out in mouth when eating. The main dish comes with some vegetables as well, so you can definitely try something other than salad as starter. highly recommend the Charcuterie, super big portion, but if you are two girls, you prolly wanna order one main instead of two after a big plate of Charcuterie, it will get you half way full! When booked a table, for romantic wow factor, make sure you ask for the window ones, and they also have a room which face directly at the harbour! I remember there are only 4-5 tables in that room only.

Yelp
Unbeatable view from the rooftop bar on the 31st floor! Truly amazing! I have been to quite some bars, but this one is by far the most amazing one because of the height I believe.

Yelp
Venue has an amazing 360 view of Hong Kong and the Harbour! Sitting on the 31st floor in Causeway Bay gives you a great sunset! Recommend going around sunset time. The drinks are ok and the food is also ok. I ordered fondue as appetizer which was decent, and Sous-vide chicken breast as my main dish, which was not so great. The chicken dish was overall bland and flavorless and the "chicken breast" contained a chicken leg, which was weird. Definitely recommend going to the place purely for the view and the modern decor!

Yelp
What an awesome view of HK on the 31st floor! Seated at a spacious table, but unfortunately their air conditioning system was practically blowing cold air directly at us and the food. Complimentary buttery bun. This was the best part of the meal. Served warm/hot and oh so yummy! We ordered side dishes, truffle fries, brussel sprouts and asparagus. For mains, we had the hanger steak rare, us ribeye medium and argentinean ribeye medium rare with sauces, bearnaise, mustard, green peppercorn and chimichurri. Truffle fries were delicious and tasty, too bad they became cold really fast. Brussel sprouts were OK. Asparagus were over roasted ruining the texture, but flavor was good. Hanger steak is considered a gamey cut, so please be mindful when ordering. For the piece we received, it became gamier as it got cold. Both rib eyes were very good and prepared as requested. All the sauces were terrible. The oil from the chimichurri tasted stale and hardly seasoned. I can see the herbs, but absolutely no flavor. Where is the kick of cilantro/parsley?! Bearnaise was bland. Visually it looked like mayonnaise and capers, but taste wise I would say it was more like lard. Tasteless fat. The green peppercorn tasted like Coke. Hard to explain, only that it did not compliment the steak. The mustard starts off OK, but ends with a bad aftertaste. Given the service and the view, would return to try non steak mains.
