"Altomonte’s is an Italian market in Bucks County that’s also an ideal spot to pick up a flavorful cheesesteak such as the cacio e pepe featuring black pepper, grated pecorino, and Cooper sharp cheese and the long hot cheesesteak complete with hot fried peppers and aged sharp provolone cheese, served on a fresh seeded semolina roll. When you pick up your order, be sure to peruse the Italian pastry selection and bring home some desserts to complete the meal." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

"Altomonte’s offers two Bucks County locations — Doylestown and Warminster — where you can order a hoagie piled high with your favorite meats, cheeses, and veggies on a savory seeded long roll. Try the Italian deluxe hoagie with its unforgettable combination of peppered ham, salami, pepperoni, extra sharp provolone, lettuce, tomato, and onions, or order the roast beef option with your choice of cheese and toppings, along with an impressive array of many other hoagie options." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

Google
Really great Italian market, with pizza and a coffee bar. Whenever I visit my parents they make sure we stop in for lunch and a pizza. My mom gave up eating bread a decade ago, and has never been a fan of pizza, but the ones here are so beautiful that she decided to make an exception. The crust is really crisp, even though it's loaded up with toppings. Delicious, really recommend stopping in for a few slices.

Google
Pizza is always on point. Here was today's selection! Best to go earlier since they are made fresh every morning! 🍕🍕🍕🍕Im never disappointed with any of the pizzas!

Google
A Fantastic Find at Altomonte's Italian Market! I have to say, Altomonte's is a very good place! The staff is friendly, and they offer authentic Italian food. As we just arrived from Italy to visit some relatives, we decided to make an Italian dinner, and your store made our lives so much easier. We found everything we needed for our meal! Thank you for providing such a wonderful selection. Highly recommend this market! 😄

Google
Amazing establishment. Never had a bad meal here ever. Incredible customer service. Great energy in the building. Prices are appropriate considering the care and quality they put into their food prep. Always just a great experience coming in here to grab groceries and a bite.

Google
I am rating this market that I do love only 3 stars. As an Italian, I just need to be honest. I tossed $16.92 worth of what Altomonte’s calls Lasagna in my garbage can. It was sheets of pasta with a thick layer of mozzarella in between, no ricotta, no sauce. This is not Lasagna. I was EXTREMELY disappointed. A waste of my hard earned money. Extra sauce had to be purchased; 2 meatballs purchased were very good. Stay away from the lasagna!!! A heart attack in the making. Just terrible.

Google
Great Italian market! But my grilled veggies sandwich took 15 minutes to make. It was good when I got it. Their Italian rum cake is good but needs more rum. Prices are comparable to other food stores in that area.

Hemidell L

Google
Awesome place! Feed six people for a little over $20. Full-size and mini pizzas at very reasonable prices. Great fountain root beer. Great heroes. They have a very nice and spacious seating area.

Google
Shopped for 25 years never had a problem Till now. I bought a italian rum cake for the 4th of July VERY disappointed. the cake was very dry had no taste of any rum . MUST HAVE FORGOT THE RUM .

Yelp
They drive me nuts though!!! Love this place it's the best but they need to stay open longer! They have a really cool self service wine dispenser, they make the best pizza crust anywhere, and every Friday we want to go hang out with a pizza and wine, but they close at 6 and we can't do it.....so frustrating. Everything they make is awesome with a special call out to the pizza maker, the thick crust Roma style is best around. My god please consider staying open longer.

Yelp
Listen I love small businesses and I will still frequent here but they need to get their act together! They are working it on social media - posting every day and having a lot of specials. Unfortunately they're not meeting the expectations they are setting. Do not post photos of your product if it's not going to look like that. When a patron goes to your business due to your self advertised specials and walks away with something less than stellar - address it, fix it. If you can't match the quality that you post then just don't post pictures of your food. Was disappointed by my last encounter here as I went to Altomonte's specifically for their chopped hoagie special and walked away with a sad excuse for a sandwich that didn't even remotely resemble what they showed online. I wanted to eat what I saw online I did not want to eat what I received. The only silver lining for this visit is I had rewards that I earned by spending exuberant amounts of $ here and I cashed it in for my lunch. Buyer be ware . May not appear as advertised.

Yelp
I asked the butcher for turkey chops & he had no idea what I talking about. You would have thought I was asking for an absurd request the way he looked at me & said "What?... No!!" I'll take my business elsewhere..

Yelp
The below review still applies after 7 years. The bottom line is this is a good place to shop.

Karen F.

Yelp
We absolutely love Altomonte's - and they cater, too. So many delicious options. Pizzas, Hoagies & Steaks, Pasta dishes, an espresso bar, a full meat counter and a deli. It is a WONDERLAND for Italian food lovers. Bring money. It's not cheap but the quality is there. LOVE it here.

Mike G.

Yelp
I simply love this place! It is a first class ticket to Italian deliciousness. The pizza is amazing, I have only tried the traditional round but look forward to having others. I love the sandwiches and the grab and go salads make for an easy quick takeout meal. I haven't experienced enough different items to give a full review but the Italian hoagies are very good. This can truly be a one stop shop because they also salads, meats and wine! Their specialty sandwiches are really good and they have a special every day of the week .

Cali R.

Yelp
This place isn't what it used to be.. high prices, low quality and an arrogant attitude from ownership. Go to Sam's deli in Willow Grove! Much better quality, prices and friendly owners! Can't go wrong!

Guy R.

Yelp
Updated review: l ordered a cheese steak with sauce and fried onions. Everything has gone up in price, so I am looking for quality for the price. Here we have it. Soft roll but strong enough to hold a heaping helping of real chopped steak and cheese, with character, folded, layered in the hot steak, not plopped on top. Onions grilled hot enough to get to that caramel edge, while retaining a bit of raw onion snap on the tooth. Just the right amount of marinara to add tomato zing and sweetness, without creating a soggy mess. The store retains a European order in both service and ambiance. I'm not a regular, but I have the sense that frequent visits would be acknowledged and appreciated. It is not a hole in the wall. It is a nice store.

Bill M.

Yelp
We stopped by to get a nice gift basket for a friend. What service! I can't Say thank you enough for the recommendations- our friend was delighted with the meats and cheeses! Also was wonderful to be able to sip a little wine and talk about Italy a bit while the basket was being prepared. love this market! There is nothing they don't have and the staff is amazing.

Monica R.

Yelp
Made this amazing cheese platter to share with 6 people. All from Altomonte'! Great cheeses yummy meats and the best fig chutney! Grain free chocolate pretzels. Couldn't go wrong can't wait to make this again I got pizza as well not pictured and I swear best pizza I've ever had. So worth going there!

Linda Y.

Yelp
Stinky Fish Yesterday I purchased cod which shouldn't have been sold. It was wrapped in plastic, so it smelled OK when I bought it. It went right in the fridge, so that wasn't the problem. When I baked it that evening, it didn't small or taste fresh at all and I had to throw out dinner. I also got some moldy cheese there at one time. That said, they sell some good things like tomato pies. It's horrible that one can't depend on the quality of all goods. I tried to call customer service and the butcher chop and was disconnected before they picked up, so I decided to write a review.

Philip S.

Yelp
Great hoagies and personal service at this family owned Italian Market. They have a variety premade dishes that you'd expect in an Italian market, as well as custom made sandwiches and custom meats. This photo is their Hot Italian, which was delicious.

Jill F.

Yelp
There's nothing more fun than trying a new Italian Market- (for me, this was new)- and it was WONDERFUL ! Easy parking, friendly people, and loads of delicious options. Yes, there are all the usuals.. but their imported sliced meats are extra good- loved the roast beef, the mortadella with pistachios, the rosemary ham, the prosciutto. And then the fresh Semolina bread, the thick cut pork chops, the store made hot sausage, and fresh salmon( all way less expensive than their competitors!) The imported Cherry Tomato Sauces, the great selection of cheeses, the array of imported canned goods, the Bakery..! Yikes- so much to try!! There are yummy takeout options, store made rice pudding.. A whole wine section. JUST GO

Joe C.

Yelp
The best ! Authentic Italian market with just about everything . Been coming here for years and never disappoints; hoagies , sides and salads are on point; if i am making sauce they have everything i need down to the homemade pasta If you don't want to make your own they have already made dinners, sauces and soups in freezer section There meats are under rated ; if you are looking to grill check out their meat selection before you go to grocery store or your local butcher You can even get your wine here ! Amazing place !

Yelp
Expired food / canola oil instead of olive oil. Those are the only 2 issues I found without looking. My latest purchase was a bag of cookies purchased today that went out of date in 2022. Ok, I get it this is something that can happen once in a blue moon, but this is a repeat issue that I have spoken with them about. They obviously don't care about the health of their customers and seem to put $ first. It is wrong and something has to be done. This is not a new issue and has happened many times in the past. We're not only talking about cookies. Also, don't let the signs fool you about the ingredients they put in their sauces. A big sign out front says olive oil is the in the marinara sauce, but when you read the label, it clearly says canola. I want to know what else these people are doing to defraud their customers. It's not right and needs to stop. One more thing, we called about getting a refund for the expired cookies and was told it's not their policy to issue refunds over the phone and we need to come back to the store. Not cool!

Yelp
The go-to Italian market in Buck county. It has many great products and foods. The service is impeccable! My favorite items are: sandwiches, pastries, and fresh meats. You will not be disappointed.

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Altomonte's has a unique selection of authentic Italian foods. The number of customers in the store speaks to its popularity. There are plenty of easy ready-to-take fresh and frozen food options. The layout is a bit confusing, at least to me. I asked for help on where to order sandwiches and was directed to a kiosk. After placing my order, I waited to be called for over 20 minutes and asked an employee for assistance, which directed me to a different area of the store. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty.

Jay S.

Yelp
High quality foods. Great selection of frozen soups and meals. Deli area reminds me of the Reading Terminal Market, very Italian

Eliza H.

Yelp
Good food to buy- to go or to make !! Yum staff willing to accommodate as best possible for all customers !! Glad for Doylestown Store

Gretchen P.

Yelp
If this was just an amazing Italian grocery store, that would be enough. But it's so much more. The pizza was incredible. Great selection of hoagies. Easy ordering and pick up. I ordered pizza (Brooklyn style was incredible), hoagies- all were amazing. The store is spacious with produce, frozen meals, a deli counter, and several premade food options. Their lasagna is fantastic. I'm a very picky Italian and everything was terrific. I felt like going back the next day.

Angie B.

Yelp
Sparse filling of their cannolis Decided to purchase their four pack of cannolis for five dollars. I've gotten their cannolis frequently. But today's purchase was extremely disappointing. The advertisement showed mini chocolate chips on the end and that the cannoli shell was filled with the filling. There was hardly any filling and there were no chocolate chips on the end. Extremely disappointed

Yelp
Nail in my lasagna. Our family has been a long-time customer of Altamonte's, first in Warminster then in Doylestown. Our family business purchased meals from Altamonte's on a weekly basis for employees. So, I was both shocked and horrified to find a nail/pin (see image) in their spinach lasagna, which I bit into unknowingly. I was lucky that the nail/pin went into my gum, causing significant pain and bleeding only, for if I had swallowed it, who knows what could have happened to my stomach? What if our baby had eaten that slice of lasagna instead? Upon contacting Altamonte's, we were referred to their insurance company, which promptly responded by claiming that there was no proof that they were responsible for the nail/pin in our food. Instead, they implied that the nail/pin could just as well have come from us, their long-time customers who have never had a similar issue with any other company, ever. We simply wanted an acknowledgment of fault, but alas: Altamonte's has taken no responsibility for the nail/pin that we found in their lasagna, instead passing the matter on to an insurance company that seems to have rubber-stamped a denial of fault. If you decide to purchase food from any of Altamonte's locations, I suggest doing so only after a thorough inspection with a metal detector. Truly insane.

Louis H.

Yelp
5 stars for the cappuccino pizza slices. Looks like steak sandwiches and hoagies are amazing too. BBC

Richard H.

Yelp
Everything at Altomonte's Italian Market is fantastic. Just had one of their new "special sandwiches" which is a delicious Italian hoagie called The Supremo. I ordered it with fresh mozzarella instead of provolone, semolina roll and added fried long hots.

Donna W.

Yelp
I love this place the owners and most of the people however there is a front cashier who is miserable and always has a smart remark to make about us,customers ,to the other cashiers,I guess she forgets we are the ones paying her salary very sad and it has stopped me from shopping there once a week. Now I only shop once a month so many someone should telling to keep her month shut when good customers shop in their store

A M.

Yelp
A very well stocked proper Italian grocer store , cafe and deli. I will make an hour drive to shop her for Italian delights.

Firuza A.

Yelp
Some of the comments I read, I truly want to punch these people!! Omg, there is a hospital trip because of gluten intolerance (please stop with the bs), nails in food (what a load of crap), someone who doesn't speak English answered the phone (what a horrible, miserable human you must be to even write something like that. People who barely speak English have been serving your white privileged American asses in food industry for years. Get a life or go to church to pray out all that evil in you) Altomonte's is wonderful, amazing, friendly place with the best pizza around, the kindest people. I am also so appreciative of European goods as flours and sugars and non palm oil filled cookies. The price is high; but you always pay more in specialty stores where you have food imported from from other countries.

John D.

Yelp
You really need to figure out how to put a smile on your cashier's faces. They, two of them, are total buzz kills. If their issues are not addressable then have them work behind the scenes. They have no, none, customer interaction skills. If this continues it will leave me no option but to shop elsewhere.

Josh S.

Yelp
They're good if you're far out in the suburbs. The quality of their charcuterie is much better than you can find in the local grocery stores (Wegmans, Giant, etc.). Their meats and sausages are not better than the grocery stores. I think a lot of people love their sausage simply because they have a sticker that says "homemade" on them. But to each their own. I am not a fan of their cheesesteaks, hoagies or pizza. All are lacking in flavor. As many people have said, overall their staff is pretty good and polite. The management definitely do not give a damn about people and it shows during the interactions with them. If you can get to the city you're going to find much better quality, flavor and variety at much better prices. But if you're in a pinch for something in the Doylestown area, give them a try, they will do.

A B.

Yelp
They definitely have a wide selection of meat, cheeses and pasta. However, it's quite expensive and most things don't have prices. When you ask an employee they just say they don't know. It happened 4 times today when we were there. If we didn't have a $50 gift card, we would have walked out. The premade Stromboli are underwhelming, a hoagie we had made had one slice of each lunch meat and was a waste of money. I'd rather take a trip to South Philly where the quality and prices are on point. I'm sure lots of items are good but I can't see spending the money. Keep in mind, I'm not cheap, it's just not worth it.

Annette A.

Yelp
I purchased a package of cheese a week or so that had a sell by date of 12/8 and clearly an Altomontes price and weight sticker on it. When I went to open it, it was starting to mold. I took it back to the sore and was asked if I had the receipt. Of course I didn't and it clearly had a label on it from their store. The cashier couldn't help me and called for assistance from what I assume was a manager, who again asked for the receipt. I don't save food receipts. Anyway he had the audacity to suggest that I hadn't refrigerated the cheese. OMG I shop there very frequently and never knew I look like someone who lies or does shady things with food in order to get a refund. Very insulting to have to argue with a store employee who ultimately refunded my $ but not without me standing my ground and getting annoyed. I feel insulted to say the least.

Sarah Y.

Yelp
I love stopping at Altomonte's to grab some meatballs, sauce, and pasta for dinner every once in awhile. We live in QUAKERTOWN so it's a shame there's not one closer or I would be there every week stocking up! My favorite items are their spinach ravioli and cheesy garlic bread! Sooo good! My one year old loves the meatballs!

A M.

Yelp
The food is amazing. I love it here. I only get jar pasta sauce from here. Everything we've had is good. The drop in star is due to the hours. The have the best pizza around, but you have to eat it at 4pm because they close early.

Fritz B.

Yelp
My 2nd time in this store was last weekend. I visited previously in early November and was quite pleased. I decided to purchase 3 different Italian-style frozen soups (no dates on the container, red flag). The Chicken Noodle was awful. The chicken chunks had the taste of 3-day old rotisserie chicken (definitely dog food/homeless grade) before being plopped into a broth and frozen. The bird was also very hard and stringy, clearly an old egg-layer that died, destined for the soup pot. The 2nd container was Italian Wedding. The ingredients do not list "chicken," but the bottom 3 inches of the container were the same ugly mystery chunks. I have a picture if management claims this is fake news and I'm a liar. Apparently, that is a reflex response for them in many other more egregious situations. Flew straight into the garbage. The 3rd, Stracciatella, flew into the garbage a few seconds later. Why do I write this? I planned to go to the store and ask for at least 2 to be refunded, but the many doom-and-gloom testimonials changed my tactic. It is far easier trashing them for their sins since they clearly don't give a sh*t. A supermarket would have refunded immediately with no questions. For disgruntled customers that need an "Italian fix," I recommend Don Giovanni's on Street Rd. in Feasterville. Smiling employees, excellent Italian pastry goodies, varied menu, and much, much cheaper. Disclaimer: I am not related to the Don, not a member of his social club, not one of his consiglieres, not on the payroll. Check out the website.

Yelp
I cannot say enough great things about my catering experience with Altomonte's!! I contact them to arrange food for my sister and family following a surgery. The process was quick and easy. Catering is never cheap but I think the cost was reasonable. I requested a last minute change in the delivery time, moved it up 2 hours, Altomonte's was right on time. Everyone has been raving about how delicious the food is!!! Thank you Altomente's for helping me make things easy for my family!!!

Andy V.

Yelp
Bro 20 dollars for Turkey wrap! What!!!! I'm a fool, wasn't expecting to be that expensive.

Richard K.

Yelp
2nd time I have ordered sandwiches from here and both times they paid no attention to what was written on the order. What is the point of a custom sandwich when you don't make it correctly? The deli has gone down hill as well. Everyone cuts differently. There is zero consistency when you ask for things a certain way. Have been coming here for 30+ years and I think it's time to find another deli. Very disappointed

Debra O.

Yelp
I've been a regular customer here for many years. I've had my share of bad experiences with some of the food, especially the bakery. I've gotten a lot of stale items but live too far away to return anything. So, I just toss them in the trash and say never again. But of course, I try again. Shame on me. I bought some Christmas cookies and called to let the manage know the item was stale, hard, dried out. Mike insisted that's not the case and it's "Nonna's recipe". He insisted it's not stale! Really? Well, I've made this cookie for years and bought it at other Italian delis, and it's never like this. I'm Italian, I know how Struffoli should be. It's hard on the outside but soft and delicious on the inside. Not the case here! He continued to "explain" the recipe but never once offered to settle things in a manner that would make a regular, loyal customer satisfied. What a turnoff. My husband and I are done with this place for good. So many desserts we've gotten here were stale, old, awful and we never said a word. We just threw it out and moved on. But this put us over the edge and not just because of the money, although, 25.00 is nothing to sneeze at these days. It's how you treat an unhappy customer! Offer something, make it right! Such a turnoff and so insulting.

Christopher D.

Yelp
Taking it to the next level. Altomontes continues to impress me with new and different items. Their bakery produces amazing seasonal treats including special flavors of cannolis, and also offers gluten free items as well. The butcher shop dry ages meat themselves offering you amazing cuts of meat at prices you are not going to find at most other butcher shops. The hot bar now is continually fresh, and rotates things like wings, pastas, vegetables always making it a place to get a quick dinner. What has taken Altomontes up a notch is that they now sell select Italian wines and beers making it one of the few places around where you can get food and alcoholic beverages all in one place. Finally, the Altomontes special events group has started holding wonderful events including wine tasting, pasta making classes and tastes of food from different regions of Italy. Altomontes is a special place in the Doylestown community.

Ray B.

Yelp
Before retiring I would make it a point to stop by Altomonte's every week for a hoagie. Back then they were located in a strip mall just South of their current location. Their hoagies were made to order and you got the feeling you were in a family owned and operated business. Yesterday was my first visit to their new location; also on Easton Rd. The first thing you notice when ordering take out is the requirement to use a touch pad kiosk. Gone are the selections you would normally be asked by a human being behind the counter: Would you like oil and vinegar or mayonnaise? Pickles? Oregano? American or Provolone cheese? And so on. Then your assembly line sandwich is made by an assembly line worker you can't even see behind the counter. How was it? Just OK. After I got it home it was necessary to doctor it up with the added ingredients that should have been available at Altomonte's.

Liz C.

Yelp
I've shopped here for several years. Although it's approximately a 45 minute drive from my area I still make the trip often to support this family owned business. I witnessed an employee (bald male, wearing a black Altomonte's tee shirt) speak to another customer in an arrogant, ignorant manner which was unprovoked and wholly unnecessary. I assume this man is a manager despite the fact that he's often seated at the bar when I'm there (as opposed to working the register, deli, etc.). I can only hope he treats the other employees better than he treats customers. Aside from this man, the other employees there seem to be kind and hard working (which is why I didn't give this place only one star). I don't know what's happened to this place in the past year or so but after witnessing that encounter I will never shop there again.

Bone J.

Yelp
Very very unhappy that my $14 sandwich was microwaved and handed to me nuclear hot with rubbery, chewy chicken and bread. Skiiiiiiip

Richard A.

Yelp
This is a great place to get real Italian food in Pennsylvania. The squid salad is delicious. Plus it has Italian pastry and a hot bar that also has Italian food on it. It also has a delicious 7 Fish salad for Christmas Eve.

Kay L.

Yelp
This is my go to place for great pasta sauces and deli meats but lately, the employees at the deli almost always package about a 1/4 lb more than requested. Also, the pricing is not kept up to date. Without fail, each time I go thru the checkout I am overcharged for one or two items and when I point out to cashier, I am given a hard time and have to hold up the line while they reluctantly check the labels on the shelves. Today I was overcharged one dollar for a $0.99 cucumber as the young cashier confused it with a $1.99 zucchini. The customer service personnel is unfriendly for the most part. I think they have taken on more than they have competent personnel to handle.

P. W.

Yelp
Like other recent reviews, something has gone wrong in this store in the past year. The last couple of times the food I've purchased was either spoiled, or about to spoil or stale. Chicken salad goes bad within one day now as does other salads. Baked goods, despite the dates stuck on them, are not fresh. What a shame this place has gone down hill.

Elaine S.

Yelp
Love ALTOMONTE's ! Best desserts, tiramisu, fruit sorbets, parfait confections , ALL are great. Meat department is expensive yet worth it, and they have an array of freshly made dishes for us to take home. It's a tradition

Bob M.

Yelp
Good market that I won't be revisiting. It is a shame these folks will be ruined by their success. It's not the people that work here, who are friendly and helpful it's the entitled crowd and Fred Beans employees who rudely and routinely cut ahead in the pick-up line, while the rest of us get "Thank you for being so patient". Well I'm not and I know there is a reason for a line and rules are rules. After multiple times watching this same scenario unfold I will no longer be waiting in their line watching someone else get my turn.

Regina M.

Yelp
All around a fabulous Italian market with a huge selection of cheeses, salads and a great lunch/dinner menu.

Claire S.

Yelp
My favorite place to get my sweets or pre made dinners. Their food is always fresh and so good. The staff is also very nice and helpful.
