I went on a Friday night and was so pleasantly surprised by Alumni! The hostess was so polite to us when we arrived and she gave us an accurate wait time to be seated. I enjoyed the atmosphere and vibe while we waited. It has a cool modern diner look and feel! My favourite sandwich was the tuna melt. I loved the herbs added to the tuna and the pickled veggies on top. All the flavours came together so well. And the portion of this sandwich is massive! Definitely should have shared, but glad I didn't 😏

Really enjoyed Alumni Sandwiches! The Vegan Torta was toasted well, flavourful, and filling and The Dagwood was stacked and tasty. The parm fries were crispy, everything was fresh and well made. Would definitely come back!

If you have too much disposable income and like mediocre sandwiches this is your place. Disappointing food over two separate visits. First time I came I ordered the Bronx. The sandwich was so wet the bottom half started disintegrating. Bread was over toasted so somehow the bread was both too wet and dry simultaneously. Second visit, the $19 club is comprised entirely of cold ingredients and if you don't maintain a vise grip on it the sandwich will commit seppuku and spill its cold dry guts because the fillings are all shredded and the sandwich has no structure. Incredibly the cucumbers beat out the bacon in terms of flavour. How is it possible to have cold bacon with no flavour? The fries are absolutely criminal. Somehow they overcooked frozen fries. The service was lovely and the interior has nice decour. Shame about the food though. I would advise paying with credit card because if they had more money I doubt it would improve their sandwiches.

Fun, retro-diner vibe. Booths for both foursome and deuces, very smart. I liked the glass partitions between booths, gives you some privacy while keeping sightlines open. Service is fast and friendly, casual yet attentive. Food is awesome, maybe the best meatball sandwich I have had in 20 years. Just the right combo of beef, sauce, cheese, herbs. Messy, worth it! Chicken parm sandwich was fantastic, again a great balance. Ciabatta was the perfect delivery system, and the lemon kale was really unique. 10/10 Large portions, leftovers to take home for sure. Will be back to try everything else on the menu.

Great sandwiches. Just a tip, don't do the mistake of ruining your order by asking them to make "extra saucy" as my partner because she was eating her sandwich like a popsicle. I ordered hot chicken, which was good, but I prefer Class Clown over this.

We had the best late afternoon lunch experience at Alumni. We brought our 8m old and were pleasantly welcomed by the staff who were eager to get us settled with a high chair. The combination of excellent service, great attentive staff, amazing food, and great ambiance make this the perfect spot for lunch, dinner, etc! We tried the devil eggs which were very good! Their Caesar salad was declined too which I’m usually picky about since I often make it from scratch myself. They got a good thing going on here and I’d recommend stopping by if you’re looking for a good experience in Calgary :)

I got the full spice hot chicken sandwich for takeout and I was impressed! This sandwich had just the right amount of spice for me without being too greasy. A medium-level on the burn scale personally, but there was a good long tingle on the lips afterwards. Sandwich had great structural stability, which I always appreciate, and the coleslaw and pickles balanced out the flavours overall in terms of acid and sweetness. Chicken stayed crispy over the 20 minutes I took to eat it. All in all, 10/10 and I will eat it in-store next time with a beer!

I had a wonderful dining experience at Alumni. The Chicken Parmesan sandwhich was delicious with the tangy lemon flavour adding nice depth to the classic flavour profile. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. Prices are a little high worth it for a treat yourself lunch or dinner!

I liked the ambience of the restaurant. It looked like a diner with both bar and table seating. I ordered the rosemary beef dip and mozzarella sticks. The beef dip sandwich was good, especially with the dip. Personally, the arugula inside the sandwich was an interesting combination; probably not needed. The mozzarella sticks were smaller than expected; five for $12.95. This price is almost equivalent to a sandwich, so I personally don't think they're worth getting. I would recommend this place if you're in the area and want a quick bite.

Best sandwich spot in Calgary! Hands down!!! Dagwood sandwich was awesome! Soup was amazing! Service was outstanding! Highly highly recommend!!

Reasonably priced place for a quick bite and drinks! For a sandwich shop it's cool to see that they have a wide array of drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic). My favorites were the deviled eggs (delicious and had a good amount of bacon bits) and the potato salad (love that they did a mix of different potato colors and it wasn't too dry and still had a good bite)! For the drinks, we got the root beer and tea time (both non alcoholic drinks) which were pretty good. We were too tired to order alcoholic drinks that night. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. The inside (though kinda small) felt a bit like a classic American diner - love the nostalgia! I wanted to like this place a bit more, but the tomato soup served was served a tad bit cold for my liking (but warmer than gazpacho cold) and i wished the batter around the hot chicken was crispier...I might have been a tab bit spoiled from the unofficial hot chicken sandwich capital of the u.s. (in Nashville, TN)...the spice levels for the medium spicy were for sure there though!

Made a trip in on the way in from the parks to Calgary. Great choice! Wide variety of sandwiches and sides to choose from. Everything our group had was great. Also good bar selection, although we didn't have anything this afternoon.

I love love love it here. One of my favs on 17th for sure. Everyone is super authentic and friendly which I really liked. it feels super community based and I enjoy that. The sandwich's are so good I've tried a few but my all time fav is the turkey club. The parm fries are super good too :) highly recommend

What a fantastic sandwich spot. I needed a quick and easy restaurant to watch the Celtics game so I came in to Alumni. I had no real expectations because I don't really care for sandwiches as much as others but maaaaannnnn. Alumni has mad me a believer. The cocktails were surprisingly some of the best I've had in Calgary. The Zombie Punch is the strongest drink they have on the menu apparently & it was a cocktail lovers dream. The second it touched my lips I knew I was in for a treat. I ordered that and the Oaxaca old fashioned, both were delicious but the Zombie Punch was just perfect. I'll be back JUST for that. Yes the drinks were amazing, but the food was even better somehow. 1 thing I need to tell you is if you order the Florentine Deviled eggs make sure to order 2. You get 4 & that is NOT ENOUGH for how delicious those bad boys were. I could eat about 30 of these alone, soooooo good. The waitress said her favorite was the chicken parmesan & I already love chicken parm so this was a very easy decision. It came out in about 15-20 minutes & without a doubt was the star of the show. The chicken was so tender and perfectly breaded. The lemon kale was a great addition to the chicken & the ciabatta bread just melts in your mouth. The chicken parmesan here is the perfect and I mean THE PERFECT sandwich! Love what Alumni is doing with their cocktails & their food. Fantastic sandwich spot, I'll be back no doubt about it!

Never heard of Alumni Sandwich & Liquor Bar before but we decided to give them a try for lunch. It's next door to Blanco Cantina. We dropped in on a Tuesday (around 1:00pm). Our waitress was friendly and came by multiple times to refill our waters. Nice touch that the kitchen split our sandwiches when we told them that we were sharing. The menu is small with a dozen sandwiches along with a few snacks, salads, soups and one dessert (apple pie). Seems like the hot chicken is their most popular; three options to choose how hot you want it (quarter (a drizzle), half or full). - Parmesan fries ($8.00) - the parmesan sprinkled on top oddly clumped together and didn't stick to any fries. Decent but standard fare. - Hot chicken ($14.00) - chicken was moist and had a good crispy bite. Slaw was solid and the pickles added an additional crunch. One thing that could be better was the brioche bun. - Rosemary beef dip ($14.00) - the beef on its own was a touch dry but when you dipped it in the jus, you couldn't tell. I didn't detect any mozzarella in our sandwich. The mushrooms also didn't add much flavour. The description was much more enticing than the actual sandwich. - Vegetable torta ($13.00) - S said it was tasty. Decent fare at AS&LB. Would try the full hot chicken version if I were to come back.

I came here late on a Friday night a little before closing and they were incredibly busy. I was super hungry though (I had just flown into Calgary that night) and the worker there was so nice to make an exception / put in one more order so I could have a little dinner. I ordered the turkey brie sandwich , which was delicious. Based on the flavor of that turkey brie sandwich, I can see why this place was so popular and busy.

The pictures don't do it justice, Alumni has the best sandwiches ever. Perfectly balanced flavours make these sandwiches elevated and extra delicious. They are huge sandwiches, so we didn't order sides and were happy with that decision. The staff were very friendly and attentive and it was a fun, casual spot to stop by for some great food. It really hit the spot and we will definitely be back.

This place is always consistently delicious. Best spicy chicken sandwich around? I always get the quarter spice with salt and pepper fries. Highly recommend!!

This was a total find. We don't give 5 stars often. We walked up and down 17th and finally decided on this place after literally sitting down at another. Well worth it. We loved the drinks and the sandwiches. The deviled eggs were okay. Service was awesome. Definitely check this place out when on holiday.

I hate this place, never go here in your life. The meat looked like it came right out of the cow. After I spoke out with this complaint they slobbered their greasy spit all over the remains. I kinda liked it tho it gave more flavour tho.

Omg this place was so delicious. My boyfriend and I came at lunch time. Man oh man, what a busy time to go but it was absolutely worth the wait. We waiting for maybe 15-20 minutes for a seat. It was really really busy. We got seated ASAP. The waitress took our drink orders real quick and when she returned we gave her our orders. I got the Hot Chicken and my boyfriend got The Dagwood. Thankfully I looked up the photos before coming here and noticed how big their portions were. That's why we got the Parmesan Fries to share. It was huge! All our food was huge and filling. Absolutely worth the price. If you like spicy food I highly recommend the Hot Chicken. It wasn't crazy spicy like in Nashville but just the right amount of spice. For the whole meal including tip we spent: $31.58 USD

I've only tried two of their sandwiches & they are soooo good! The place gets super busy especially during lunchtime, so get there early! The staff are very friendly. The decor is just like a regular diner, definitely nothing special. Best, most expensive sandwiches in Calgary

Amazing spot for a casual meal! Wait staff was very kind and attentive. The food was spectacular as well, I'm a huge fan of the fried mozzarella in that tomato sauce!

Im obsessed with Alumni and if I lived closer Id definitely eat here more often! Their sandwiches are so delicious. I know theyre just sandwiches but they really do a good job making some amazing sandwiches. I LOVE their hot chicken sandwich. One of the best fried chicken sandwiches Ive ever had. Its quite a decent amount of spice but I always get full spice. I recommend you get half spice if youre not good with spicy! The brioche bun its served with is soft and buttery. The chicken itself is fried fresh, juicy, huge and crisp. The coleslaw is lovely as it cools it down as well. I tried the meatball sub, which was feature of the month and that was also delicious. Not as good as the hot chicken but still quite good. The meatballs were really tender and i loved all the toppings with the sauce, cheese, and spinach. The turkey and brie is probably my least favourite of the sandwiches Ive tried. Don't get me wrong, its still a great sandwich, but in comparison its not as good. It gets quite watery. I recommend you get the parm fries or the tomato bisque as a side, theyre lovely as well!

First off. How have I been sleeping on this gem? Went for supper with friends and chose to come here. So glad we did. Service is top notch, from being immediately greeted at the door, to being checked on multiple times (some people may not like this, but it makes or breaks an experience for me) and just overall friendliness. Total 10/10. Situated in the old Subway shop on 17th by Tompkins park, this place is understated in its ambiance without being overly fancy. Now. The food. I had the rosemary beef dip and charred broccoli. When I say I will eat this again, I am NOT kidding. Worth the wait and I will be back

Delicious! We got the chicken parm and chorizo torta and they were both to die for! If we're ever back in Calgary we'll be back!

Went to Alumni for the first time to have a quick lunch at around 2:30pm on a Monday. It was packed with no signs of slowing down while we sat there...... so that definitely tells you something. I had the Hot Chicken and my date had the Tuna Salad. We also shared Mac Salad, Potato Salad, Coleslaw, and Pickles as sides. It was all top notch but the Hot Chicken sandwich and Pickles stood above the rest for me. Some people may find the Hot Chicken too spicy but it was just right for me and those tasty little pickles are what dreams are made of lol. I have a feeling that you wouldn't go wrong with any choice on the menu. I'll be back..... probably numerous times. The hype is real!

First time I had Alumni was when a friend brought it to me on take out for lunch and I remember thinking DAMN, that a good sando. (Turkey Club). Not living downtown at the time I kinda forgot about it. Driving down 17th a week ago I saw it, and it's close to my new apartment, and also very convenient curbs side pickup area. I ordered from there to me for myself and a friend today. Turkey Brie and a Chicken Parm to share. Man...this place kills it, Fresh, fast, friendly....so much flavour. Great portion size. They will get to know me well. Next order will be the Beef Dip and the Hot Chicken..then we'll work through the menu again and again. Great job. Keep it up!

I finally tried this restaurant! I had the hot chicken sandwich and it's definitely the best fried chicken sandwich in Calgary. My husband ordered the Dagwood and was very impressed with the sandwich. It reminded him of his childhood favorite growing up in Montreal. There was plenty of meat in that sandwich. Very reasonably priced and the sides were really good. We decided to be pigs and ordered the cold slaw, mac salad, Parmesan fries and chips. At least the mac salad and the chips were good the day after since we couldn't eat everything. Lesson learned a sandwich and 1 side per person is plenty. I cannot wait to try another sandwich!

Saw a couple of the guys from the restaurant on Global News a few weeks back. Was intrigued and put this place on my "to dine at" list. Luckily, it is across the street from my fave coffee place (Analog) and my fave record shop (Sloth). I now have 3 faves - sort of a faves triangle, but I digress... Went for a late lunch with the Hot Chicken Sandwich in mind. Restaurant wasn't too busy, were seated and greeted quickly - picked a booth, but there is a great bar to sit at as well. The menu has great selection of sandos, salads and appies. The cocktail list is appetizing as well - next visit is going to be all about the Pisco Sour. Alumni lager is very tasty. Ordered Hot Chicken, Parm Fries while my Dining Babe had the Turkey and Brie. Food came out fast, hot and fresh. The Hot Chicken has a fabulous heat and the Come back sauce is excellent! The turkey was no slouch either! Parm fries were delicious with a very nice aeolie sauce. Portions were generous and for $13 a sandwich, your money is well spent! Check this place out! Unassuming and a great atmosphere!

This place seems a bit overhyped to me. It's fine but nothing amazing. We had the hot chicken and chorizo Mexican sandwich and both were just okay. Service was also strange... they brought out the fries in advance of the burgers as an "appetizer" course because "our table wasn't large enough", and without asking. They could have just as easily switched us out to a four top if that was their concern, but instead kept those open even though no one ever came.

The sandwiches here are exactly what they claim to be "damn good." The service isn't ever great but the food always is. Beef dip is great - opted for it with no cheese and the sandwich still holds up. Hot chicken is tasty - apparently their most popular. Fairly hot, nice and crispy, great flavor. No wonder it's their most popular. Avocado toast - not bad. Not as much avocado as you'd expect and not too much flavor. Fine if you're there and want avocado toast but there's definitely better within walking distance. In short, come for the sandwiches not for the service. If you want a good sandwich this is your spot.

First off, the space that used to be a Subway is completely unrecognizable now- very cool and not remotely stuffy, cute banquettes and tables and a lot of seats at the bar so solo diners aren't uncomfortable. Very, very good reno. I got the spicy chicken sandwich and it was fantastic! Buttery texture, rich and really tasty. Service is super friendly but not overbearing, noise level was fine, good prices for the quality and good beer and cocktail list too though I just had water. Great addition to 17th Ave SW! Updated to note that got the chicken parmigiana second visit and it's even better than the spicy chicken. Stunningly delicious.

Located next to Blanco off of 17th Ave, the restaurant front is pretty minimal and unassuming. However, once we opened the door and stepped inside, it totally made us feel like we were at a diner in an Archie comic book haha. The space has a good amount of seating and also a bar. I thought it looked very retro but clean at the same time. We were greeted when we walked in, sat down wherever we wanted to and looked over the food and drink menu. Originally when I heard that this was a sandwich place, I thought the menu was going to be super basic - I was wrong! The menu isn't gigantic and overwhelming but had a good amount of variety for appetizers, salads, soups, and of course, sandwiches. Everything sounded delicious but we somehow managed to narrow it down to the beet salad, curried squash soup, deep fried artichokes, and chicken parmesan sandwich. Everything was super delicious and I'd probably have everything again except maybe the beet salad (it was delicious but wasn't as many beets as I would've liked as I LOVE beets - but still very good!). We actually ordered the curried squash at first but they accidentally brought out the tomato soup for us. The server was quick to apologize and offer to take it off the bill, and we said no prob and ate the soup anyway. But then they went the extra mile and brought us the curried squash soup.. amazing! I can tell the people who work here actually kind of care about the service they provide here and everyone seemed so friendly. They asked us how our food was on multiple occasions (not in an annoying way) and answered any questions we had about the food and drink items - super awesome :) Overall, really really really like this place! Totally recommend for a casual bite out and a few drinks! I can't wait to go back next time and I'm a little scared to share this review in case the place starts getting super duper busy.. but if you're contemplating, yes, GO!

Highly recommend this place! The best gluten free bread I've ever had and the sandwiches are delicious. I had the roast beef dip and the flavor was so good. I had a gf beer here, but their cocktail menu is great, full of classics and they have a happy hour!

Got to try Alumni today for the first time. Loved it! Funky modern diner vibe. This is a unique spot for 17th Ave in Calgary and very reasonably priced. We were quickly greeted and served some great recommendations. Of our sandwiches, the Rueben was my favourite and the side of (house pickled) pickles were exceptional as well. I was there with family from Ontario and another friend from Calgary. We were very impressed with the decor and feel of the place upon entry. The service was great, the place was super clean, and I'll be back for beers an evening soon. Keep up the great work Alumni!

Great service and excellent food. I liked their Gin and Fizz drink as well that features pomegranate and lemon. I had the Turkey and Brie - the Brie was melted and the bread was toasted to perfection. Unexpected ambiance for a sandwich joint that's more than a sandwich joint.

We stopped by Alumni for a quick lunch on our way to Banff. First things first: I loved the number of vegetarian options. Secondly, the staff was super nice and accommodating of all my questions :) The Crispy Mozzarella was delicious, even though the cheese itself was lacking salt. The yummy sauce it came with made up for this. The Taco Salad (made vegetarian) is super filling, and comes with a delicious chipotle buttermilk dressing. My husband ordered the Mexican Torta (made vegetarian) and it was REALLY good - I almost wished I had ordered that instead. The ciabatta they used was toasted to perfection. We saved roomed for the Apple Pie which came with scoops of dulce de leche and vanilla bean ice cream - so so yummy! Drinks wise, my husband enjoyed his Boulevardier but I wasn't the biggest fan of the Aviation - I think that's because of the gin they used. All in all, I wouldn't mind coming back the next time we're in Calgary!

Amazing concept, make unreal sandwiches, use the freshest ingredients, mix up some solid cocktails, charge affordable prices! Love this spot, eat there weekly.... They even convinced me I like fresh cucumber on my sandwiches

Happened upon this place after a morning coffee at Analog. Service was friendly and attentive. We ordered the tuna melt, tomato soup, and fries. The tuna melt was a huge portion with a fun slaw/salad on top, tomato soup was perfect and savory, the fries were perfect. Even the non-alcoholic melon drink was delicious and fresh tasting! We'd go back in a heartbeat!

Amazing turkey and Brie sandwich! Also the tomato soup was really yummy! My husband got the grilled cheese which was also delicious. Highly recommend!

Ate here at lunch while visiting Calgary. Great sandwiches and sides. We had the steak sandwich (French dip), turkey sandwich with cranberry aioli, Reuben and hot chicken sandwich (warning if you order full hot it is sweat running down your face hot). All of the sandwiches were really good, but my favorite was the steak sandwich. For sides we had potato salad, Cole slaw and Parmesan fries all were good. Ordered a smoked tequila old fashioned (not a fan of the smoked tequila). Reasonably priced for the amount and quality of food. Would definitely recommend and would return.

The reviews aren't fake. I was skeptical because of all 17 5 star reviews, but this place is something special. I tried two sandwiches - Mexican Torta and Chicken Parm. Both were on light, crusty warm bread. The chicken parm has lemon kale which kicks the sandwich up to another level. However, the torta was my favourite. This was a hot sandwich with creamy, decadent mixture of beans, cheese, and ground chorizo. I have a big appetite, and one sandwich, one side of macaroni salad and a shared dessert left me too full. I hear from a reliable source the veggie torta is a winner as well. Will have to return to try it.

Have been here twice, it's amazing, very cool interior, but the food, the food is amazing. Had the Ruben first time, which was mind-blowing, and the double burger the 2nd time, which was melt in the mouth delicious. First time I was there wearing my t-shirt of the band The Fall, got into a lovely chat with one of the guys who works there/owns it about them, the staff all seem simply lovely. I would highly recommend Alumni, I can't wait to try more on the money.

Went yesterday for lunch with a friend. We split the crispy chicken and Mexican torta and some parm fries. Both sammies were delicious. Be warned when they say the crispy chicken is spicy, they aren't kidding. You can get it half spicy which we did and that still had a real good kick. The portion sizes left us both stuffed. Great concept, something new for YYC. Way to go!!!!

This place is a breathe of fresh air to me. Never before could I find a wicked sandwich with such a good vibe to go along with it. In the short time it's been open it has filled many different needs of mine. Lunchtime spot to grab a bite, dinner spot with my wife, and weekend night spot to have some drinks with friends. Enjoy it Calgary!!!

The Hot Chicken sandwich was delicious! Finally something that is actually spicy when it it says "spicy". It wasn't overkill but just right for me. Can't wait to try all the sandwiches! The parm fries were a great side. I'll be back soon!

Loved it! We had the Hot chicken sandwich and the meatball sub. Both are big portions and yummy. Servers were very attentive and friendly.

Food was fine, although bun didn't seem that fresh. Kept falling apart. Asked for potato salad instead of coleslaw and was charged $3.50 The potato salad was very heavy on the sharp mustard. Would not do that again. Chicken burger was a good size, but dry. My main concern was that I walked into the place in order to place a take out order to take out, and was not treated very patiently. There were some things I wanted to change in the order, but the server spoke very quickly as if she were getting impatient with me. I asked her to slow down, but she just left and got the manager to take the order. He was calm and patient thankfully. No rush to go back.

Let's get this out of the way quickly: The food is great! This place is off to a very good start. They've got a nice selection of sandwiches and sides. Cocktails, beer, liquours... what more do you want? The restaurant itself looks like a modernized diner. Pretty cool if you ask me. You can tell they poured a lot of love into making sure this place looked unique, it does. Try the beef dip or the hot chicken sandwich. Guarantee you'll be back for me. Bravo!

Cute Laplace, great food and service! Had the Mexican torta sandwich, it was messy but delicious! Also tied the grilled cheese and tomato soup... the best part of the meal was dessert, the apple was amazing, a MUST! I'll definitely be back soon for more sandwiches and apple pie!

Rarely, you stumble upon a restaurant that feels quaint and personal. You have such a delightful experience that you consider not sharing it so that you can keep this place all to yourself. Selfishly, I'd rather not tell anyone how great my experience here was just so I reduce the risk of Alumni becoming as popular as it deserves. However, they deserve the praise. My best friend and I decided to visit after receiving a random recommendation from a colleague. We arrived on a Friday night and easily grabbed a table. The design of the restaurant somehow found the perfect balance between modern and retro. I had an overwhelming impression that I had stepped into a restaurant in Riverdale and I mean that in the best way. Being our first visit, I had a lot of assorted questions and wanted a lot of recommendations. Our waitress was extremely kind and incredibly helpful. The cocktail menu was far better than I would have anticipated. I have two go-to drinks. Moscow mule and Corpse Reviver. It is rare to find them on the same menu, let alone beside each other. Just that would be enough to win me over. I ordered a Moscow mule and my friend ordered a boulevardier. Our waitress was considerably more impressed with his drink choice. She was a bourbon fan. Both drinks were fantastic. And cheap. Happy hour cheap. I hesitate to mention that at the risk of them realizing and raising prices. I'll try to get a few more visits in before that potentially happens. My only critique of the drink menu would be that margaritas should always use agave and never simple syrup. But I noticed another drink on the menu uses agave so that seems like an easy substitution request to make. I was pretty excited at the menu and we decided to order an inhuman amount of food to ensure we could taste as many things as possible. Fried artichokes to start. Delicious. I would order them again without hesitation. The feature sandwich was a meatball sub. For sides, we ordered coleslaw, fries, yoghurt caesar salad, and pickles. I wanted to share two different sandwiches so we could have more variety. Alas, my friend was determined to eat his own. We both ordered the meatball sub. And thank god we did because apparently it was the final day to order it and it was effing amazing. Bread - great. Meatballs - delicious. Cheese - bountiful. Sauce/bread ratio - perfect. I was most skeptical about the fries. I'm a picky eater in general but I'm extra picky about fries. Not only did they bring two sides of ketchup without asking (which was very appreciated), the fries were great! Golden and perfectly crisp. At this point I ordered a corpse reviver which was delightful. The coleslaw was great. It was a fantastic flavour contrast to the meatball sub. The last two items are where opinions differed. I immensely enjoyed the caesar salad while my friend thought it was "okay". To be fair, it was really more for me than him. Much like the coleslaw, it was fantastic when alternated with bites of meatball sub. The pickles on the other hand, I'm a dill pickle guy all the way. I believe these were bread & butter pickles. I can't hold that against them but I was definitely not a fan. My friend demolished them so it turned out quite alright. Throughout our meal, we had two other servers stop by and welcome us. The entire team was friendly and charismatic. It only added to the surreal feeling that I was eating at some spectacular, fictional diner. Each server also commented on our fantastic food selection. I didn't understand why until I realized how much food we actually ordered. It was excessive...but we ate it all anyway. We aren't quitters. I was painfully full but my friend was determined to also try to dessert. We ordered the apple pie. The fact that we managed to eat anything else after the meal we already consumed should be seen as nothing less than miracle. The apple pie was served warm with ice cream. The spices in the apple pie tasted more cinnamon bun-y than apple pie-y. Which is only an observation since the pie was delicious. The ice cream was the only lackluster item of the night. I'm a strong proponent for high quality ice cream on desserts and that pie deserved better. With that being said, we ate every last bite and I have no regrets doing so. I have been thinking about this restaurant, the meal, those drinks, and that team ever since we left. It is extremely rare for a restaurant to leave an impression that strong. But they did. And every single person there needs to know how effing great they did. So go try it. But only a few of you because I don't want to wait in line.

Hot chicken sandwich was bomb. Perfect balance of super spicy, tang of pickles, and soothing coleslaw on a potato bun. Get it, don't think twice. The charred broccoli was also great if you're feeling vegetables.

This place is AMAZING! Visiting from California, this was the only place I truly enjoyed. The "hot chicken" has good spice. The Parmesan fries are delicious and the wait staff very friendly. Visiting, or local, you would love this place.
