WOW! That’s the only way I can describe this place. I’m living since long in Hamburg and this became my new favorite restaurant! The menu was delicious and all the little additional bites we got from the kitchen made it even better! Service, view, food all unbeatable! Definetly recommend

Great location on elbe River, pretty fancy location replicating the container area and with a nice view on the maritime station. The food is nice with great presentation in spite the taste might be a little bit upgraded to be really super top, I assume of they would make it they might get something lore than a mention in the michelin guide. The service is good, precise and kind in spite might be consistent overall the whole evening. If you want to impress someone than this might be your place.

Great foods and great suggestion of wines and liquors. Espresso martini and gin are really good. Foods are also good. We had tartar beef and yellowfin as starters and fried whole fish and deep fried prawns. The only thing I cannot give 5 stars is waiting time for food.

So, it was very very delicious in am Kai. Nice place, near the water, atmosphere, people. Personal is very friendly and take into account your wishes and restriction about food. The meal Half Canadian lobster with grilled asparagus is very very tasty😀 Thank you.

We did not enjoy Au Quai/Am Kai at all. In fact its one of our worst experiences of “fine dining”. Lets start with the food. We took the tasting menu which consisted of 5 dishes: 2 starters, 2 mains and a dessert. The starters (“amuse gueule” and the yellowfin tuna) were not bad. In fact we later dound out they were the best part of the meal. From there we got to the bouillabaisse - that dish was way too salty, with a broth that we could not eat. 5 pieces of fish (one of each kind) and thats it. We left it as is. The other starter was the cod. While the cod was presented nicely (picture attached) it lacked any taste whatsoever. Tasted quite dull. The jerusalem artichoke creme and fennel were also very salty. We ate it only because we were hungry. The dessert was a chocolate fondant. Not different to the one you would get in the local italian restaurant. Average by all means. From here we go to the service: - Not taking plates after theyre finished and bringing in new plates. - Water pitcher that was left empty and on the table for 30 minutes before someone took it. - Waiters unorganized, we got the desserts menu despite us ordering a tasting menu. - Napkin that was taken from my wife (maybe it was dirty?) and not returned - so she used mine for the rest of the bill. - 10 minutes to wait for the bill after sitting in the restaurant for 3 hours (theres a long waiting time between the dishes). And to top it all of, I have never ever been in a restaurant that charges €8 for water and its not even bottled! Came out of a “beer tap” into a pitcher. Filtered water? Not sure. The only bright side of the night was the bartender, the only person in the team that identified thing’s proactively and made it a little less terrible experience. Paying €200 for the food and service is not justifiable. You ruined my wifes birthday. Dishes that are presented nicely is not enough, they need to taste good as well. Will not return!

I had an amazing experience at this place. The location is great for a beautiful view of the river. I can with colleagues after OMR on Tuesday early this week. Group of 8ppl approx. Only challenge is that i don’t eat any seafood. However, that shouldn’t put anyone away. I had probably one of the best steaks I’ve had in Hamburg - their Entrecôte in the menu. Tasty, just and great quality meat. Also the cauliflower to complement the meal. And a glass of Spanish wine. The service was superb, and they tried to accommodate and help with my restrictions. Highly recommend this place based on my experience experience. My colleagues talked very positively about the seafood, but that one i can’t say anything.

Food was ok for me. But they have a good view of the ships passing by.

🔝views & atmosphere ⁉️ very friendly staff but not efficient. She proposed us the most expensive dessert that was bread with cheese... Of course we were disappointed and returned it, but it was included in the final bill (after they took it back untouch and brought it to the table next to us after we return it ...) ❌ Grill fish nothing to envy to the stand next to this place. Civiche was full of mayonnaise sauce 🤨 pulpo & tuna were very nice. Eggplant & asparagus side dish extremely salty. ⚠️ CHECK they BILL, extra drinks were included ✋🏼Price-quality NOT GOOD enough for the price you pay. Overall I think there are much better places in town

I have to admit, my expectations were low as my food experiences in Germany have generally been less than stellar. There is only so many schnitzels I can eat before my body rejects fried food. Our favorite food so far in the entire country was curry wurst and it's basically sausage and ketchup. I'm happy to report, the food here was superb. However, as we mingled outside for some pre-dinner drinks, I noticed a blanket carefully placed on each chair. I didn't think too much of it until the temperature dropped by 20 degrees while we were enjoying our meal. Everyone bundled up and used the blankets to avoid freezing to death. Next time, we'll sit inside from the start!

We booked in advanced and get a table in the balcony. It is a quite a view there, especially with a sunset. The wine the waiter recommended is really nice. Forgot the name, but it has a little cute goat printed in the brand. The starter we ordered is tuna tartare. The fish is fresh and the seasoning is just right. The one of main dishes is grilled tiger prawn. really delicious. I ordered bouillabarisse. a little salty though for me. The service there is good, our waiter is funny and friendly. Will recommend this place to friends if they visit Hamburg harbor.

This restaurant is a dauntingly experience, located at the harbour combined with a classy, upscale athmosphere. The decoration is mix of Chinese, Buddah, Modern design and Bonsai trees. The food is absolute suberb, served in an enhanting way, but not overstated. At the entrance the hostess takes your jackets to the cloakroom, and leads you to your table. The waiters are professional and polite, you definitely feel like a queen (or king) in its palace... The one thing that none of us liked, were the potatoes and mini-zucchini, which tasted like something mixed with cinnamon and nuts...no idea how to describe that. Might have been a special menu, but it was a weird combination. The ravioli with goatcheese and herbs was fantastic, but I couldnt finish it (Isnt that what youre always suppose to do when dining in a fancy restaurant?!). I only have one word for the Chili Chocolate dessert with caramelised pineapple: Delicious! Again, something youve probably never tasted before.. This was an incredibly expensive night, but worth every penny!! We even got invited to the Members only nightclub just next to the restaurant...Great, but maybe they just wanted to get us out of there because of the time (24.00) and the fact that we were pretty loud...(9 Dutch girls, expensive wines, cocktails, the bill...)

Upscale atmosphere located at directly at the waterfront. Innovative mediterranean cuisine with fish, meats, vegetarian options. If you come here and like fish: Go and eat the bouillabaise. At 19.90 Euro it sounds a bit hefty, but once you are being served this rather gigantic bowl of delicous soup filled with two or three different fish fillets, a couple of large gambas and in my case also a gigantic scallop, you understand that you are actually getting excellent value for money. I also tried Tagliatelle in lobster sauce with sundried tomatoes and that was also excellent - and a very healthy size when ordered as a starter (8 euro). Yes, you can easily spend 200 Euros on a bottle of wine here but the good thing is that even the lists of wines served by the glass is impressive, so with a little restraint manageable. I had a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon from the German label Anselmann for 7,90 Euro - again not cheap but a decent deal. Once you're here, you can also play and taste the different variations of salt you get together with the excellent olive oil. In general I don't like upscale places, but my in my interactions, the staff was always very friendly and helpful. I always found to get good value for money despite this not being a cheap place. Clear recommendation.

A three course dinner with drinks. From the very first mouthful to the very last - excellent. Service was very attentive, but not disturbing. The ambience (we sat on the outside terrace) is lovely - Hamburg at it's best.

The food is good but the service is slow with bad attitude. Asked fir a coffee in the end of the meal and took 15 minutes. When I complaint to the waiter instead of saying "sorry Sir I will bring right away". I was told was my mistake because I asked the wrong waiter for it. Seriously? Never going there again as cannot be in a place where the one paying the bill is not the client!
