"Empowering Women through Cooking Morocco is full of worthy projects to support, particularly when it comes to vocational training and education, but not all are created equal. Amal, by contrast, is a deeply practical nonprofit association that aims to empower women by teaching them culinary and hospitality skills on site, before organizing a four-month internship at a local hotel or restaurant. Sometimes the internship can lead lead to permanent work, but even if it doesn’t, the training provides these women with valuable experience that the industry is quickly starting to tap into. The mothership is a spacious center in a villa in Gueliz, where visitors can come for an exceptionally tasty, daily-changing, traditional Moroccan lunch or dinner, and participate in cooking classes ($33 per person)."

The 22 Best Restaurants in Marrakech, Morocco - Eater

"This restaurant serves up not only a good meal, but a philanthropic mission too. The organization works to improve the lives of local women by training them in cooking and restaurant skills like hosting and food safety, in addition to providing advice on interviewing and lessons in French and English. The menu changes daily, and dishes disappear throughout the day as they are sold out. The restaurant is only open for lunch; reservations are suggested, especially on Fridays, when the traditional couscous never fails to draw a crowd. [$]" - Amanda Ponzio-Mouttaki

A lovely culinary experience. Run by women to support women which is part of their mission. Such a beautiful place to enjoy a delicious meal. We started with a few drinks, the hibiscus and lemonade were our favorite. The fruit&veggie salad was beautiful as much as it was delicious. We had the special of the day which was a baked chicken. We also tried the sardine croquettes. Definitely recommend visiting when in Marrakech!

I've been coming to this restaurant for lunch a few times, and it’s always such a lovely experience. They used to offer a daily menu with about three options for each course—starters, mains, desserts—plus a few fresh juice choices. Lunch in the garden, with soft music playing and the sound of the fountain in the background, is a real treat. 🎶 Now that it’s summer, they’re open for dinner too, and the vibe is totally different in the best way. The evening breeze, cozy lighting, and relaxed ambiance create such a special atmosphere. ✨🌙 The new à la carte menu has so many tempting options. Last night, we tried the mini pastilla with beef and the chicken liver croquettes—both were absolutely delicious! Highly recommend. 👌🍽️ Service is awesome! Thanks to Chaima, Bouchra, and Hasna

The food was absolutely delicious – every dish was full of flavor and beautifully prepared, from the fragrant tagines and classic zaalouk to the mouthwatering desserts like jawhara and mhencha. A true taste of Morocco at its finest! What makes this place even more special is the wonderful idea of supporting hearing-impaired staff – a truly heartwarming initiative that adds soul to the entire experience. We joked among ourselves that only a deaf man could handle working with so many women – the team spirit and positive energy in this restaurant are simply amazing. At the end, they kindly let us take a group photo and even posed with us, which was such a lovely gesture and the perfect way to wrap up the evening. A beautiful place – we highly recommend it to everyone! Come for the food, stay for the kindness and the atmosphere.

A Gastronomic Gem Empowering Women Amal is a truly special place, run exclusively by women, and it offers an experience that goes beyond just great food. Having lunch here was an absolute delight, combining a warm atmosphere with impeccable service. The food is not only delicious but also reasonably priced, making it an excellent value for the quality provided. The menu is thoughtfully curated, showcasing the best of Moroccan flavors with a touch of love and care in every bite. If you’re in the area, Amal is well worth a visit. It’s open only for lunch, so plan accordingly. Just 10 minutes’ drive away from Jama El Fna, this hidden gem is worth the short drive. Supporting Amal means not just enjoying an amazing meal but also contributing to an inspiring initiative empowering women in Marrakesh. Highly recommended for a memorable and meaningful dining experience!

My husband and I ate here 5 out of the 8 days we were in Marrakech in January. Starting from the beautiful patio with trees bulging with oranges to the welcoming staff and tasty menus, we fell in love with Amal. A bonus is its important mission to train women in multiple roles in the food and hospitality industry. We generally ordered one vegetarian tagine plus another of the rotating main dishes. We had several starters over our multiple visits, a few fresh fruit drinks and the fabulous cookies/biscuits that are on display inside. A value meal, not as inexpensive as some restaurants but wellworth the very reasonable prices. On our last day I got hugs from staff who we had gotten to know. Take the time to get to know them!

Very good restaurant with a very good price, flavors were good and correct. The lamb was very good and the cheese for quiché was natural. I find it interesting that food changes every day, so I guess that we have a very good day. Because of that ,I recommended first going in person and checking the menu. You can get the bus (line 1, for example) for only 4Dh and stop very close to the place.

I am absolutely thrilled with my lunch at Amal, a women-run social enterprise restaurant located in Marrakesh’s Ville Nouvelle. The garden setting is meticulously designed, from the Arabic calligraphy painted on the walls to the stunning cedar tree at the center of the patio. The menu changes daily and always includes at least one vegetarian option. Each dish is carefully crafted, blending Moroccan tradition with a modern twist. The glazed vegetables (60DH) were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor, while the goat cheese salad (65DH) left me speechless: the nut-crusted goat cheese paired beautifully with the avocado cream, which was artfully piped onto the plate. The kitchen’s attention to detail is evident in touches like the basil oil used to dress the side salad. The vegetable tagine, reminiscent of a ratatouille in the way the vegetables were sliced, was generous and delicious. Even the desserts didn’t disappoint: the molten chocolate cake (35DH) with caramel had a gooey center worthy of "food porn," and the lemon cake (40DH) was equally delightful. I also highly recommend the homemade mint lemonade, which was refreshingly zesty. The waitresses were friendly and professional, and they accept card payments. Supporting a project like this is well worth the trip. I’ll be recommending it to everyone!
