Where to Eat, Drink, and Stay in Marrakech Right Now

"A social‑enterprise kitchen serving local classics while training and supporting disadvantaged women in culinary arts; it also played a community role by helping families with food during lockdown." - Brian Freedman

"Empowering Women through Cooking Morocco is full of worthy projects to support, particularly when it comes to vocational training and education, but not all are created equal. Amal, by contrast, is a deeply practical nonprofit association that aims to empower women by teaching them culinary and hospitality skills on site, before organizing a four-month internship at a local hotel or restaurant. Sometimes the internship can lead lead to permanent work, but even if it doesn’t, the training provides these women with valuable experience that the industry is quickly starting to tap into. The mothership is a spacious center in a villa in Gueliz, where visitors can come for an exceptionally tasty, daily-changing, traditional Moroccan lunch or dinner, and participate in cooking classes ($33 per person)."

The 22 Best Restaurants in Marrakech, Morocco - Eater

"This restaurant serves up not only a good meal, but a philanthropic mission too. The organization works to improve the lives of local women by training them in cooking and restaurant skills like hosting and food safety, in addition to providing advice on interviewing and lessons in French and English. The menu changes daily, and dishes disappear throughout the day as they are sold out. The restaurant is only open for lunch; reservations are suggested, especially on Fridays, when the traditional couscous never fails to draw a crowd. [$]" - Amanda Ponzio-Mouttaki

For lunch, we ordered beef pastilla for appetizers. Lamb and sea bass for mains and white chocolate lava cake and date pastry for desert. We had lemonade and tea for drinks. All this cost around 475 dirhams. It was absolutely worth it! From appetizers to desserts, the meal was so well-made. The flavors were spot on! The lemonade had just the right amount of sourness. The lamb was so soft I didn’t even need a knife to cut it. The white chocolate lava cake is so unique - it has a hint of floral taste which perfectly complements the white chocolate. I’ve not tasted something similar. The service was also very nice. I told them I was afraid of cats and the ladies made sure to help keep the cats away. The vibes of the place is also nice. If there is only one restaurant to try in Marrakesh, it has to be this one.

The food here was the best that I had during my stay in Marrakech. The flavours were tongue tingling and the presentation was great. Food with a purpose is such a positive concept. Keep up the excellent work, Amal Gueliz.

Food was very good and here you have the opportunity to try some moroccan cuisine beyond just Tajine. Lamb was really outstanding, the roasted chicken was a bit dry. The vibe is very tranquil in the garden and the good cause is a plus of course.

A gorgeous outside patio (there’s indoor too but the weather was too nice for anyone to be inside). The food was so delicious and creatively presented. I had the Moroccan salad and the chicken thigh. Both were excellent. Plus, it’s all helping women.

A lovely culinary experience. Run by women to support women which is part of their mission. Such a beautiful place to enjoy a delicious meal. We started with a few drinks, the hibiscus and lemonade were our favorite. The fruit&veggie salad was beautiful as much as it was delicious. We had the special of the day which was a baked chicken. We also tried the sardine croquettes. Definitely recommend visiting when in Marrakech!

We stumbled across this restaurant and thank goodness we did - it was perfect from start to finish. The ladies who have been trained are extremely accomplished and only the freshest produce is used. Would return in a heartbeat

Great place to try multiple moroccan dishes, clean and good ambiance. Plus its a social enterprise too!

Scrumptious! Me and my acquaintances are vegetarian, and thus ordered vegan couscous (Friday menu). The couscous was delightfully toothsome. It contained seasonal root vegetables, fat succulent chickpeas, and sweet caramelized onion atop the fluffy Moroccan grain. I ordered a raspberry mojito, which successfully achieved the precarious balance between sweet and tangy. My acquaintance ordered the homemade lemonade, and he claimed that the minty and fresh substance was so incredible that he “tasted colours”. B’saha! I only rate this restaurant four stars because the service was truly disappointing, and frankly rude at times unfortunately. This restaurant was packed with a plethora of tourists.
