This review is merely for the pizza. I confess that I've never tried their other food.
Pizza can only be honestly assessed and appraised if it's plain, old, regular, cheese pizza. No toppings. I like toppings on pizza occasionally, but for the purpose of review, it really should just be your standard cheese pie. That said, Amalfi's take on the classic is about standard. The sauce to cheese ratio is slightly high in terms of the sauce. They could do with a bit less. But the real offender here, as is always the supreme test, is the crust. Extremely chewy and hardly any crunch. It's absolutely springy, and as such, not particularly pleasant.
So, though it pains me to say it, so far I've yet to find good pizza in Glen Cove, and, frankly, good pizza seems to be a somewhat elusive commodity on most of Long Island.
Glen Cove is one of only 2 cities on Long Island, the other being Long Beach. One would think it would be easy to locate both good Chinese food and good pizza in a city. Sadly, there is neither in Glen Cove. But fear not, Glen Covians...the one thing Amalfi is good at is charging that well known 'north of 25A' price. You'll get very pedestrian pizza at an impressively high price. It ain't bad. It just ain't good.
I should add, however, that due to the dearth of good pizza on Long Island, and especially in the Glen Cove area, Amalfi's take on pizza is definitely better than most, if not all others, in town.
