"Amarcord Vintage Fashion is one of the city's best vintage stores, with a selection that skews more toward high-end designers than it does thrifty treasures. The shop has a sleek, curated vibe, with racks organized vaguely by color and bags and jewelry on display in the back. This store is all about iconic stuff from big names: classic printed Pucci scarves, prim Gucci duffels from the Tom Ford era, and modish '60s Balenciaga accessories. After you've browsed the racks, make an appointment at the shop's nearby archive and showroom if you're a serious vintage hunter,." - Andrea Whittle

The is THE best vintage story I have come across in New York City!! Not only were the selections beautiful and in great condition. You can tell that they carefully curate all the pieces. Marco was amazingly helpful and just a beautiful soul. You can tell her really cares for the items he is collecting. I will 100% be adding this to my go to vintage stores as I have yet to see another location beat their selection.

Amarcord is bar far one of my favorite vintage stores in New York City. This establishment has an amazing mix of designer and obscure brands, all priced very well and in great condition. Marco, the owner, is warm and welcoming, encouraging all customers to have fun and enjoy the shopping experience. I've purchased several items here throughout the years and cherish each one. This place is a destination not to be missed if you are visiting Williamsburg!

Google
All the pieces are in best condition!! Please don’t complain about the prices, they are absolutely fair. Just go to a vintage shop in berlin or london where they sell ripped stuff for 1k. They also have high quality non designer pieces that you can afford if you are a student like me. The italian co-owner was very friendly. He encouraged everyone to try on pieces and consider well before buying. You don’t feel pressured to buy anything. It was such a nice experience. I highly recommend this store to anyone. It’s for everyone ❤️

Google
The absolute best experience! Especially as a woman of color, I went to multiple stores & Marco was the most attentive store owner! He made me feel the most beautiful & picked pieces for me that accentuated my body in the most flattering way! Prices are incredible! Come visit! Tell them Aubresha sent you! ❤️❤️❤️

Google
AMAZING experience!!! Made my NY trip 10x better Stumbled upon this when walking around and the guy who owned this store is incredibly nice and approachable — he’ll give you the best fashion advice, a great styler.

Google
Didn’t buy anything but I’d 100% recommend this place if you wanna have a genuine talk about vintage fashion with the owner :) also the store had some beautiful pieces at reasonable prices

Samidha

Google
I just had the best time at Marco’s store. He made me feel like a princess and pulled the most beautiful pieces that were perfect for me. Will be sure to stop by every time I’m in NYC!

As a native New Yorker who has lived in Paris and is passionate about clothes, I advise anyone visiting from Europe who wants to experience real NY vintage, curated with taste and style, to get to Amarcord. This is the kind of New York store you want to support and hope it stays forever. It has character and individuality and you will find something unique and personal there. This isn’t fast fashion. It isn’t cookie cutter, mass produced garbage. It’s real pieces you’ll feel special in whenever you wear them. Go!! Buy!

Yelp
I've sold to Amarcord Vintage and had absolutely no issues. They are quick to reply and offered a fair price for the Vintage dress I had. Highly recommended!

Jessica V.

Yelp
Lovely shop. Marco is extremely helpful (I've even found my wedding dress here)! Theres a huge selection online and they'll even deliver to the store for you to try on. Quality of their pieces are impeccable.

Yasmina L.

Yelp
Love this fun spot! Super helpful when I was looking to style my photoshoot. They have a lot of stuff online. Highly recommend

Kelly S.

Yelp
Marco was an absolute pleasure. So freaking sweet and welcoming. I was in town visiting a friend and found that I didn't have a dress for a wedding I was going to within the next week on the other side of the country. He was so welcoming and helpful. I am rather tall and he walked me though the stylistic approach to help me find a dress that totally fit by body and EVERYBODY loves. What a steal too!! Ended up doing a bit of research on the designer when we were there, and his stuff usually goes for $1500 or more. Ill never tell what I got this dress for. ;). Will totally be going back

Yelp
this is such a gorgeous shop--come for the windows that are always dressed impeccably (seriously, iconic!), stay for the incredible finds that are expertly curated. currently have my name on the waitlist for the gorgeous earrings currently on display! the owner is so kind with incredible knowledge of all the products. a neighborhood staple and a divine inspiration for those seeking unique pieces for their wardrobe (jewelry, clothes, shoes and one-of-a-kind accessories).

Alex A.

Yelp
I love this establishment. I'm always warmly greeted and well attended when I visit. They stock an incredible selection of fashion. Beautifully and impeccably curated. Its clear they have a keen eye and only select the best to add to their inventory. Marco took great care of me today. I stopped by to have a look. After eyeing some items I was interested in, he prepared a fitting room while we had a chat about fashion, design, the neighborhood and some New York history. He broke away to attend to other customers giving me ample time to try on and make my final selections. I noticed a young lady had decided on a beautiful, navy and white, windowpane dress. The women customers really are well served here by the extensive selection and quality on offer... Don't overlook the handbags and accessories! Thank you Amarcord, so glad I stopped in!

Yelp
Was swept up by a salesman and bought a $55 bracelet which I later found on Etsy and eBay for $7-12. I also expressed a concern about a metal allergy, and the salesman convinced me I might not actually be allergic, so I bought some earrings I had a reaction to. Though I'm sure this is a fine shop, this experience left a bad taste. Please be wary of pricing and heavy salesmanship when shopping here. Update: The $40 earrings I purchased fell apart after 2 uses. Very cheaply made. Attractive jewelry, clean, but no quality control and wildly overpriced. Could have found these 90s earrings at a thrift store. It's a shame I don't live in the NYC area, or I would return and request a refund. I am removing a star.

Yelp
This boutique has been one of my favorite shopping destinations for special vintage pieces that you won't find anywhere else in Manhattan or Brooklyn. Marco (the owner) is incredibly knowledgeable and continues to inspire me with his selections season after season. I literally spend hours going through the racks and always find new gems that I would have never picked up anywhere else. I will always continue to come back because of the owner and staff's expertise and fantastic customer service. If you want to escape for an afternoon in beautiful vintage clothes and accessories, this is the place to do it!

Seve' M.

Yelp
Marco is spectacular at finding the very best Etsy fashions across the globe. Also possesses an amazing ability to overprice while trying to make you feel like you are getting a bargain.

Yelp
I have browsed in this place and stayed about 10 minutes; I could not decide if I was more turned off by the stench of the store (think mothballs + funk) or the rudeness of the staff. I asked if they had any framed handbags, and the clerk looked at me like I asked her social security number and said "What?" Um--ok. I didn't feel like educating her so I just looked at some other items. There is a difference between expensive and overpriced--this joint is the latter. Re: the smell--I get that a vintage store can be musty. But the owners don't seem to realize if they are going to charge top dollar for second hand clothing and costume jewelry, the least they can do is have it cleaned properly. I looked at one Pucci print knockoff halter jumpsuit that would have been cute-if not for the stain on the seat. Lovely. Now to find out the owners of this place are lying racists who condones their staff to casually place people's lives in danger? This place needs to close down.

Yelp
I paid a visit to this shop last week...never seen such an incredible collection of pieces. I was looking for a special piece for my wife, something unusual but something with a gothic flare. The girl at the counter was more than helpful..... she suggest pieces on the floor but best things came from the back.....some of the most INSANE things I've ever seen. I ended up picking two perfect things, both total success! A++ service, selection? BEYOND ! Incredible piece...I live about 5 hours from the city , but definitely will make it a point to return for " that special thing" Thanks blonde haired girl & Armacord!!!

Lisa W.

Yelp
Such a great store, really well Organized with beautiful pieces and the staff are wonderful.

Linnie G.

Yelp
I wandered in off the street, and though there was initially some sticker shock, you get what you pay for: highly curated, selective vintage in a range of sizes (I'm not a tiny human, and was still able to find a gorgeous dress). Also, rent in Williamsburg is insane; not sure why so many commenters below feel that this should be a Goodwill. I really appreciated that the staff is engaged but not pushy; they gave me feedback on pieces but never seemed intent on making a sale. I left with a gorgeous 70s maxi dress in a muted orange/green floral print, and it's one of my favorite items of clothing.

Signe F.

Yelp
Really bad service. Today I went in with a broken bag (2months old), and the girl just said "to bad, that's what happens with vintage" - I wasn't expecting them to take it back, maybe they could fix it or just some advise to get it fixed. The owner is really nice though, and always really helpful..

Marjan A.

Yelp
The staff were rude and deliberately unhelpful. I don't understand how this place expects customers to tolerate that sort of treatment.

Lynette K.

Yelp
I hear you gertrude, aimee, ransom b and probably others... What a joke. there was only 1 unique, special thing in the store (to me). boring, yawn, overpriced, i got lost in brooklyn and all i found was this place? shame! when a chick comes all the way from boston, she wants to be interested. oy vey. I/we found much better places afterward.

ChezZY S.

Yelp
Pricey, true but once again the selection is in good condition. However for the savvy people (like myself) when it comes to vintage shopping we have our resources, our places to go to.. Yet this place is still great. I didn't find a ton of stuff that I wanted however I did find a belt circa 80's that was awesome. I joked after buying it to a friend that I spent $45 on a belt here when I liked a belt at Anthropologie for $38 and thought that was too expensive. However my new Amarcord belt is unique and I don't mind paying for unique items. I loathe having what everyone else has. They do have tons of mens clothing and accessories as well. Staff is super friendly and talkative. You really feel like you know them when you walk in. They certainly make you feel comfortable.

B. B.

Yelp
This is a high price boutique with good quality, authentic vintage fashion. This isn't just your mom's clothes from the 80s. This is high style. if you're willing to pay extra for an outfit, go here.

Brittany R.

Yelp
For the past four years, Amarcord has been my go-to vintage shop. I can't walk down Bedford Avenue without stopping in, and I've often left with some great pieces that were reasonably priced, especially given the trendy neighborhood the store is in. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that it is a tiny store and sometimes I can't find anything in my size; however, the selection is always well-curated and the pieces are kept in great condition. I've gotten everything from boots to sweaters, skirts and blouses, and every Christmas I go there to buy a piece of jewelry for my sister. Friendly and helpful staff, and they switch up their inventory often. Great unique find in the rapidly commercializing Williamsburg!

Sadie S.

Yelp
I like Amarcord. Yes, it's pricey, but that's a NYC vintage store for you, and I think it's unfair to expect thrift store prices. For those of us reared on thrifting, yes, it can be galling to pay new-clothes prices, but on the other hand, nothing at a SalVa is sourced, edited, dry-cleaned and arranged by color! Actually, given the quality of the garments here, it's less outrageous than a lot of spots (which shall remain nameless) which think it's okay to price anything born before 1987 like a YSL original. And, by the way, this branch of Amarcord is a lot cheaper than the Manhattan location. I've found some of my closet staples here, which I wear enough to justify the (admittedly high) prices: a perfect tweed blazer with leather shoulder patches; this awesome late-70s plaid shawl/serape thing; and the best pair of boots I've ever owned. Sure, more often than not I come away empty-handed, but I always get ideas from their curating and displays. Plus, the gals who work there are all great - ESPECIALLY for Williamsburg!

Vivien B.

Yelp
Amarcord is one of those places where from the outside you find yourself thinking, "I'm going to find the most lovely, perfect, beautiful dress in the world and I'm going to find it at a reasonable price. It's going to be vintage and delicate and no one else in New York is going to own it." Okay, it's true that no one else is going to have what you bought from Amarcord, but that's probably because they couldn't afford it. What you'll find at Amarcord is great clothes at very expensive prices (oh! and no size ten shoes). The owner gets her finds during her trips to Itlay and then resells them here for the cost of small child. No, really it's shocking. If you have lots of cash, then do stop in. If not, go to the Salvation Army in nearby CT, PA, MA or NH. You're bound to find something similar for less than half the price tag.

Cam S.

Yelp
Why don't more vintage and thrift stores take into account the power of the olfactory senses? I tend to get skittish in any store where I have to sift through rack after rack of clothing to find the "gems," so I probably wouldn't have stopped in here at all were it not for the sunny afternoon, my high spirits, and the nice smells emanating from within. Seriously--more vintage stores should take a cue from Amarcord and cover up that musty smell with a nice candle. It makes such a huge difference. It was a big enough difference for me, in fact, that I actually sifted through the racks of expensive '70s and '80s garb to find exactly the coat I'd been looking for since last fall. At $150, it wasn't a cheap find, but it was affordable for a stylish, midweight winter coat. I went for it and have gotten tons of compliments since; there's nothing quite like the thrill of telling people you found that great coat in a little vintage shop in Brooklyn. It makes me seem infinitely cooler--or, at least, I like to think so. Amarcord's manageable size and delightful aroma make it a pleasant stop-in during a day of shopping, and you're likely to find a few great items among their racks. You'll probably be paying less than you'd pay at some of the pricey boutiques in the area, and you'll get one-of-a-kind finds for it. Works for me.

Katie K.

Yelp
Reviewers of vintage stores need to realize that they are not reviewing a thrift store, they are reviewing a small BOUTIQUE, where everything is hand picked (meaning, you don't have to pick through all the junk yourself to get to the gems), cleaned and/or steamed or pressed and mended, and presented in a location chosen for it's high traffic and therefore has high overhead, all of which reflects in the price. Used clothing does not equal thrift! I don't even find everything here to be that high priced, anyway. I have mixed feelings about Amacord, as a vintage boutique. While I think the stock is very well sampled and the staff is super friendly and helful, I find it unreasonable that I could not come back and exchange one of the items I bought the day before for two other items that, added up, were more expensive than what I bought. This stems from the owner. I definitely appreciate that they are carrying more older stock these days, which is what I collect. I don't know if that was just luck these past couple of times I went or not, as in the past I didn't find anything in the eras I'm interested in, but only newer vintage.

Aimee A.

Yelp
Overpriced, but there are some nice things here. The store is sorted by color and they seem to only have what's in-season, so if you're looking for a winter coat in August, you probably aren't going to find it. They have tons of belts, shoes, scarves, and handbags. The handbags in the window are what drew me into the store in the first place. Some of them are lovely! But don't expect to find any great deals here. When I have more money, I'll be back.

Daphne S.

Yelp
I've been shopping at Amarcord Vintage since they first opened in the East Village 20 years ago! They consistently have a very high quality vintage clothing and a knowledgable sales staff. I like shopping there because the pieces are virtually one of a kind, and supporting locally owned businesses helps the community!

Sofia H.

Yelp
The quantity of clothing and vintage stores on bedford ave is overwhelming- Amarcord's appearance on the street stands out right away while walking around as well as their great window displays. They have few but good pieces and a lot of accessories on display but everything was just slightly overpriced. Some clothes and bags were actual vintage designer whereas some of the other clothes just seemed like vintage clothes that had been marked way up. I was impressed by the fact that they have a men's section that takes up nearly half the (small) store. Worth a shot

Gab G.

Yelp
My cousin bought a funky dress here for a wedding. There is a good selection of vintage stuff, but it's pretty pricey. Not my kind of thrift store but it's good for people looking for retro stuff.

Alex P.

Yelp
Amarcord is a diamond in the rough, a holdover from the the heyday of NYC vintage that has consistently one of the most elevated and focused assortments at retail. The owners, who are terribly lovely people, source for their store in their native Italy and both have an incredible eye for product. I bought my first winter coat in New York as their old East Village location over 15 years ago, and have remained a devoted client ever since.

Os A.

Yelp
Have been buying from Amarcord for ten years. Marco the owner has gone out of his way to hand pick items for me. True, engaging customer service. Old school as it gets in the neighborhood and he's been supporting the community since the beginning. I think he's been here for almost 20 years? He buys from France and Italy and brings back truly one of a kind, amazing pieces you will never find anywhere else. On one of my first visits, Marco engaged in 30 minutes of conversation explaining the origins of clothing I had on and was looking at, giving insight into why men's clothes look the way they do and what they were originally designed for. I happened to mention that I was looking for a weekend coat. A week or two later I walked in to check out what was new. He saw me walk in, told me to wait one moment and ran in the back to pull a vintage Woolrich coat just for me. Wearing that coat has resulted in 1000 compliments and inquiries about its origin. I actually look forward to NYC winters because of this coat. I joke that I don't need a therapist because of this coat. I get all the affirmation I need because of this coat. My wife and I have since made multiple purchases, each piece resulting in the same kind of inquiries and compliments. We once ran into an old neighbor (from Chicago 15 years prior...trippy coincidence) who was a personal stylist. After catching up about our moves and reminiscing about our old building in Chitown, I asked her if she was a regular shopper. She told me that she was a personal stylist and was actually pulling for Mariah Carey. Just saying...good high quality product. And the window displays are amazing. Well worth stopping by just to check them out.

Maddy M.

Yelp
Probably the best vintage store in NY! It's hard to know what's better--the customer service or the selection of fantastic vintage. There is a wide range of prices but all the pieces are beautiful and well cared for. Then there's Marco, who is one of the kindest and most attentive of people, who will help find things that fit you (especially if you are larger and have trouble finding vintage in your size), and is extremely welcoming and fun to talk to. I can't recommend this place highly enough!

Kate B.

Yelp
I wondered in here once before, so I should have known better. Everything in the store is about three times what you'd pay at a flea market, nothing's that spectacular, and the staff acts like THEY designed the clothes. Everything that's wrong with Williamsburg in one tiny room. I've learned my lesson.

Chantal A.

Yelp
I'm someone that frequents vintage shops and gotta say I've found some of my best pieces here. Everything is fairly priced & great selection of different time periods.

Tyler H.

Yelp
People that don't like expensive thrift stores shouldn't review expensive thrift stores. I don't give three stars to Jean Georges because I can't get a $10 burger, i just go buy a $10 burger. Amacord is perfect for some tasty vintage Euro with a splash of shitty T-shirts, all for the fair price of whatever they decided to write on the tag. Don't like it? Go to Salvation Army and have a blast. Also their music is regularly choice.

mandrake b.

Yelp
Amarcord is a first class vintage store from start to finish. The clothing as well as the assistance the sales staff provides is impeccable. Located in the heart of Williamsburg, Amarcord is a must stop for any vintage enthusiast. If you happen to be lucky enough to be there on a day when owners Marco Liotta or Patti Bordoni happen to be working make sure to ask them about their favorite pieces and about which pieces they will be bringing from the showroom to the store. I have been shopping at Amarcord for nearly 10 years and each year the selection gets better and better. Amarcord is a MUST see when heading to Williamsburg.

Lizzy F.

Yelp
Yeah.. they're overpriced. What do you expect? You're shopping at one of the hippest stores on one of the hippest streets in one of the hippest cities on the planet. I'm basing this review on what they actually carry, which is a lot. For the size, they have a good selection. Also, the people that work there are pretty decent and the store always smells good and is clean and bright. My only complaint (and maybe this is just the fault of clothing manufacturers of yesteryear) is that there never seems to be anything available smaller than a medium or large. I'm short and slim and have never been able to find anything short or small enough. Lots of great stuff, especially dresses, but everything seems to be made for someone with the proportions of a model or a giraffe.

Mark V.

Yelp
This is one of the best vintage clothing shops in Williamsburg for almost 20 years. There are many vintage shops and if you want to look through racks of clothes and waste time somewhere else, go for it. But if you want the very best vintage european fashion for spring, summer, fall, winter, weddings, party, or any special occasion this is the place to go. This is a best-kept secret of influencers and celebrities who are looking for unique authentic style and flare. The staff and the owners are very helpful and knowledgeable. You don't just go here just for the clothes, bags, and jewelry. It's for the fantastic hand picked style and the very best knowledge of authentic vintage fashion. The store is also very unique and feels like stepping into a fashion spaceship of the 70's. The window displays are changed frequently and are one of the most beautiful creative looking store fronts this side of the east river. If you are looking for something specific the team will help you find exactly what your are looking for and if they don't have it they will be happy to direct you to the right place. It's always a pleasure to visit and my wife thinks I have great fashion taste because of the beautiful pieces I find here for her. Thank you Amarcord!

Frank F.

Yelp
Great Italian vintage clothing. I have purchased my favorite go to pieces from them over the years, and the product is consistently high quality no smells or tares. The new store is incredible and the selection is always being updated and priced right. High class, low price, and friendly staff will help you pick out whats right for you.

Oblomova P.

Yelp
This store has been around for ages, I've shopped at their East Village location many times. The Williamsburg shop is beautiful, the shop girls there are nice and helpful. This is a TRUE vintage store. I think people tend to not understand what is happening to vintage items these days. I will briefly explain. When I was in high school one could find vintage at Salvation Army, this is no longer the case. The existence of eBay basically sucked everything out of the world's bottom drawers. Gone are the days in which one can find high quality vintage and when one does find an exquisite vintage piece it will be pricey because they are as endangered species. I think what some people don't understand is that vintage is not like retail, it's not mass made, it's very high quality since it's handmade and it's also running out. It takes much effort to find items. I really appreciate Amarcord still has the good resources to buy special pieces in intact condition. Can I mention I LOVE the way this store smells?

laura c.

Yelp
best selection of eurotastic vintage. the staff are lovely-- no hard push, you can look around and organized by colors. love this store

katie m.

Yelp
Love it here. I have found some wonderful items that are timeless and good quality. One of my Brooklyn faves!

Chris B.

Yelp
I walked into this store with a couple of friends. And it was the most bizarre experience. I picked up a garment and had a question about it. The sales girl responded "it's vintage". Which didn't answer my question. I rephrase the question and the answer again was "it's vintage" After three or four go around I responded "Yes I know it's vintage" which prompted the sales girl to responded "This is a vintage store." Meanwhile, a second sales girl kept chirping in "I can help you shop. I can help you shop." I kid you not. I then proceed to put the garment back on the rack and the sales clerk who kept repeating "vintage" in a incredulous tone said "You're not buying it?" She then prattled off a list of designers that "they carry" and whatever designer I asked to see the respond was "you should have been here earlier in the week." Less than a minute later we decided to leave but not before the "it's vintage" girl stated to her co workers, "She just wasted my time. They better not come back." Followed by a bunch of snickers. I agree with the others that the selection was nothing to brag about and the prices were ridiculous for what they had. But above all the sales girls were awful to deal with and flat out rude.
