Amator - Review - Copenhagen - The Infatuation

"We get it. You feel guilty “wasting” a meal on an omelet when you could be eating at Noma. Ordinarily we’d be right there with you, but not when it comes to Amator. This sunny restaurant tucked behind a yellow awning on a busy street in Østerbro serves the antidote to haute cuisine: eggs. There are a few non-egg related things on the menu, such as a crisp green salad and sourdough bread slathered with butter, but the main reason you’re here is for omelettes. From behind a small counter, the owner whips up perfect omelettes on two hot plates, while jazzy beats play from the speaker. The cacio e pepe omelette, made with black pepper and grana padano, is our personal favorite. The slick interior design is a draw, too—fabric wall hangings next to a sequence of wooden tables and stools arranged like a long communal dining surface, all custom-designed by the Polish Wierciński‑Studio." - Mary Holland

Small place ideal for quick brunch. We tried different omellets, salad, pie, orange juice and coffee. The food was good as expected based on the reviews but the service was slow. We were asked to leave after 75 mins. It was fine but considering the service and that we were 4 people, it was a bit rushed. It was good experience but the portions are small. We paid 250dkk/person and were leaving hungry. We would probably come back for a special occasion or with guests.

The best omelettes we’ve ever had! The tomatoes were fresh and well seasoned. The unlimited bread was a nice addition. I recommend making a reservation ahead of time (not hard to find - we booked the night before) as the space was quite small.

Really delicious omelette probably the best I’ve ever had. A little pricey but the ambience and design of the restaurant and quality of food outweighs that and if you want to treat yourself this is a great place to do that!

Uncomplicated and delicious food, exactly what a great breakfast should be made of. My friends and I tried almost everything on the menu - all the omelettes are delicious, the bread is the best, tomato and the salad - yes please. The only skippable item is the lemon tart.

I had the ‘sexy omelette’ and it was probably the fluffiest and creamiest omelette I’ve had in a while. They don’t have many choices, but they certainly master the omelettes to a T. If you don’t feel like eating omelettes, better to choose somewhere else.

I would go to this place again if I come back to Copenhagen. The freshly squeezed orange juice was a great start. I ordered sexy omelette and was creamy and fluffy. The highlight for me was the tomatoes. It has good amount of olive oil, sea salt, pickled onion and lemon. It's a perfect dish to go with the omelette. The sourdough bread was super nice too. I ate alone so had to sit in front of another solo customer which was a bit awkward but I didn't mind it because it's a small space. I recommend booking a few days before as I saw some people getting turned away!

A cozy place with high-quality products. The sexy omelette is a must - was very creamy inside. The butter is absolutely delicious, paired with excellent artisan bread. Their filter coffee is the best I’ve had in Copenhagen! The atmosphere feels relaxed and authentic, with a record player spinning in the background, and the staff are incredibly kind and helpful. A real gem.
