Amaya's Taco Village

The food was so good! Just like the South location’s experience including our fabulous server, Claudia. Bean & cheese nachos, beef enchiladas, and cheese enchiladas were served hot from the kitchen and the portions were generous so we had plenty bring home. My only suggestion, not really a complaint, we were sat about 2 feet from a large party while many other tables were empty. Would have liked to be one or two tables over since it appeared all sections were still “open.” Already planning to come back Friday for margaritas!!

Amayas should have Oscar nomination for best food. My family and I enjoy stopping here from time to time. If we have the moment. Every time we eat here at Anayas , they never disappoint. This place is a golden ticket.for Super amazing service. Our waiter was. very quick and our waiter was phenomenal. I recommend this on anyone top 10. Always get the taco plate. 🥹

Omg food was so good!! The atmosphere was really pleasant. Our waitress was really nice and she was very attentive. The quesadillas were so good, the fajita was very tender and juicy! Price was well worth it. Definitely recommend!

Had dinner at Amaya's restaurant and was seated very quickly. My hostess was very professional, knowledgeable and with the menu and greeted me with a smile. The atmosphere was very family-oriented and there were quite a few families visiting that evening at the restaurant. The atmosphere was electric and there were lots of laughing and families engaging. Even though I dined alone I had a great time. The place that I order will very reasonable, parking was easy and plentiful and there is handicap accessibility available. Thank you Amaya Mexican restaurant staff, you're doing a great job. Keep up the good work! I will be sure and tell all my friends where to get some great authentic Mexican food and mango margaritas. ❤️

Bottom line, Amaya's is an Austin staple. If you want some damn good Enchiladas, this is the place. I have been a customer since the Capital Plaza days when I was in highschool. Pay them a visit and you won't regret it. There's friendly service, beautiful ladies, good drinks, and good food. You can dine in and outside or simply get it to go.

Wow, I can’t believe I haven’t tried this place sooner! The chalupas were overpriced (almost $15 for two with no sides) but they were worth it to me. I heard the breakfast was also good so I came back the next day and had breakfast. I’d say the breakfast was better and the best part was they actually got everything right how we ordered it. I’ll definitely be returning.

Service was great. Food was surprisingly much better than my last visit 9 years ago. I was shocked at the portion size for the price. Barbacoa was yum! Good for Austin Tex-Mex that is still representing.

Food was pretty good and plenty of seating. Fajita plate was large but not exactly large slices of beef. More like a Philly steak with strips. The crunchy taco that came with my meal (I think it was the Mexican dinner) was not crispy. Enchiladas are pretty good. Best item was the really hot flour tortillas. Tortilla chips were pretty good. Kinda weird to have an auto suggested 20% tip. When checking out in their little device you would think 18% would be recommended minimum then work up from there. Service was good so I tipped 20% but not a fan of being forced to

We haven't been here in forever. The place is still bustling during the noon hours. It appears that they are a little short staffed because our wait person has been moving around very quickly. My hubby and I both ordered the Village tacos without rice and beans. We love the thick homemade corn tortillas that are used for these tacos. They are hearty enough to hold the filling which in our case consisted of shredded chicken, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. The salsa had a nice spicy kick to it. The more you eat, the more you want.

Although I fought it, my colleagues chose to meet here during lunch hours. I was frantic as I've had two previous experiences that were lackluster. First of all, I have to give props to the wait staff who get you in and out very smoothly. I think this type of service is unmatched at a lot of similar establishments in Austin. Our drinks were always refilled and we were checked on periodically in a noninvasive way. More tortillas are offered and so are condiments throughout the dining experience. However, the menu is an absolute mess. The only clarity is on the lunch menu. Not only is it hard to navigate the menu but the pricing of things as benign as a taco plate will run you around fifteen bucks. Forget the affordability of a specialty plate like enchiladas or stuffed poblanos. I got the Wednesday special, a grilled chicken breast covered in ranchero sauce with rice and beans and two tortillas. It was a smidge over thirteen bucks and, while the portion was big, the flavor was lacking and I found it hard to stomach. The salsa was perfectly spicy but the majority of my table of 9 couldn't handle it. The chips were wasted and everyone was irritable until their main dish arrived. The place seems relatively clean but the lighting makes it damp and like I said earlier, lackluster. Pros: service Cons: almost everything else

Service was very friendly and food was yummmm!!! Be prepared they give you a lot of food! We could have easily split a 2 taco dinner!! I loved their chips and salsa! Salsa has a good kick to it!

Good puffy tacos. I also had a cheese enchilada. It was okay, but didn't have that tex-Mex flair. The chips and salsa was good. The waitress took our order quickly, and the food came out pretty fast. It was lunchtime. I would go back, but not for the enchiladas.

I came here for the Puffy Tacos based on Yelp reviews. They are in the menu as VILLAGE TACOS. So I decided that I would order the 3 enchilada lunch special with a puffy taco on the side to check them out. I sat at the bar and the menu, chips, and tea were quickly served. The food was excellent! Also, the manager came around checking on patrons.

Super cute place. It was very lively on a Tuesday for lunch. Our group of 10 was seated pretty quickly. Our waitress was very attentive and caring. Our chips and salsa was refilled very quickly. I loved the chips, they were thick and made fresh to order. I got the special of cheese enchiladas. It was pretty delicious but a huge order. The food also came with flour tortillas on the side for the rice and beans and it was delicious. We were also brought a delicious tres leche to celebrate a birthday.

Have been wanting to try this place for years but hadn't been in that area of town at dinner time until tonight. We walked in about 7:50p, 10 minutes before happy hour was over. The waitress was quick to get our order... and I got a Dos Equis. ($1 off) and the beef quesadilla ($10 happy hour price). My kiddo get the taco plate, and they let it be 1 beef, 1 chicken. There's also complimentary chips & salsa. Their salsa is flavorful and slightly spicy. It was all delicious. Plenty of food as well enough to take home.

If you live in Austin & haven't visited Amaya's taco village your not living! Lol This is one of my favorite spots in town. Always seated quickly which is highly important to me. Every server that I have ever had always knows the menu & has great food suggestions when I get confused or, want more than I bargain for. Lol Amaya's is a friendly family environment. You will always find a family enjoying a meal & smiling (Everytime!). Oh & the margaritas are a great treat also.

The tacos are the best in Austin! We all ordered tacos. The rice and beans are amazing as well. You can't go wrong with Amaya's!

We had lunch here and this time enchiladas with rice and beans. Served quickly ample quantities and tasty. Waitress was spot on and it's easy to see how this is an Austin tradition. Easy to find parking spots not too bad but it gets crowded during peak times. Clean and homey

Good food, pretty friendly service, authentic Mexican decor. The enchiladas are always a hit with my kiddo. I usually get one cheese and one beef fajita with refried beans and rice. If I get the 3 enchilada plate I usually have enough leftover for lunch the next day.

Love me some Amayas enchiladas. They are cheesy, gooey and full of yummyness! Service is always efficient and friendly. We look forward to going back time and time again. You can always count on the interior decorations to be the same when you stop in. Their full bar and plentiful seating always make for a good experience.

I'm convinced that every person leaving a positive review is a liar. This is the nastiest restaurant I've ever eaten at. They make a quesadilla with American cheese and the tacos were dripping of some meat juice. Shocked I didn't get sick. The service was very nice and our waitress was sweet but the food was horrendous

I forgot how good Amaya's breakfast is!! The staff is always staying busy and friendly. Had the sausage Migas with cheese today. I usually complain about restaurants using chips in their Migas, but not here. I think it's because there is much more in their Migas than just the chips. Eggs a plentiful. And whipped!!! These eggs are not just cracked into the Migas and scrambled there. They take pride in those Migas. The atmosphere is great! No blaring music in the background , just people enjoying each other's company and the sounds of a busy restaurant. Keep it going Amaya's!!

Prices have increased across the board so I got their daily special the fish which at $13 wasn't too bad. But other items where at least $15-18 kind of steep for old school Tex-mex food. I think they are kind of light handed in the seasoning so not very mex at all. The fish I got was on a bed of charred corn but it really didn't add to the dish. Since I was trying not to get brain freeze I got a margarita on the rocks, not as strong as their frozen. I think the price increases are keeping away customers it wasn't as busy as it usually is for a Friday at lunch.

I'm from a border town near Mexico, and I had yet to find authentic Mexican food until I came here! Outstanding menu, and you will not be disappointed. Very friendly staff, and if you need an after lunch or dinner (heck even after breakfast!) DRINK, they have a bar! Great stuff here!

Food, service and prices excellent. Great ambiance and quality ingredients used. Enjoyed having breakfast at 11-12 - they serve till 1pm on Saturday! UT OU game played so we could keep up with score.

Not sure why this place is so popular. I have tried them 3-4 times, ordering different items every time, and each time, I am underwhelmed... The fact that they use boxed corn tortilla shells for their tacos should tell you something... Lots of seating so its large gathering friendly The service is always prompt and courteous.

I love this taco joint Puffy tacos best in the tri-county area Margarita on the rocks was terrible But the tacos The frozen The rice the beans The salsa Damn good Had to wait with empty tables but the waiter was great The sopapillas were Apparently good Covered in cinnamon and honey I highly recommend you come try this place out Sundays they close early so keep that in mind

First time here and it is not what I expected. I thought it was a taco place, but this place is a whole ass restaurant. With cool photo booths, a complete bar with good sized televisions, full server-dining experience. Really nice, family friendly, and they can sit big sized groups too. The bartender was a bit chatty, a bit too much to my liking, but he did mention all the specials they had. Gave us recommendations and menu descriptions. Drinks look good.

We placed a takeout order for Flautas, a taco dinner, queso, and salsa. The chicken in the tacos is plain, boiled chicken. Absolutely no seasoning. The chips are Tostitos. The only item that tasted anywhere close to authentic was the salsa, but the terrible chips ruined it. The queso was also overpriced for what it was. The server that checked us out was kind and apologetic about the extremely long wait, but we would never order from here again. We had high hopes based on the reviews, but it's the worst Mexican food we've had in Austin.

To me, they have the best tacos I've ever had. The shells are perfect and they always stuff the toppings to the max. The enchiladas are also fantastic, covered in sauce and cheese. It's very hard to leave Amaya's hungry. The bar is a great place to sit when I stop in solo, but there is a lot of seating for friends and family. I have been a fan for more than 20 (30?) years, and their food and service have always been top notch.

Food and service was amazing Loved this place, I live riht around the corner from it for 2 years and didn't even notice, but definitely a recommendation if your looking for a family friendly and even a place to enjoy a drink.

This place is absolutely amazing. Just flat out kicks the sh*t out of places like "Taqueria Arandas"; "Hacienda Jalisco" and specifically "El Secreto De La Abuela" (unless her secret was making shitty Tex-Mex out of low grade ingredients and recipes off googling how to make bad Mexican food). Yes, maybe it's a couple of extra bucks but you're getting the higher grade cuts of meat, all their soups are made with the best ingredients money can buy, and simmered all day instead of the other restaurants listed above that try to flash boil the fattiest chewiest skirt steak with a piece of bone thrown in (their beef and chicken caldo will cure a hangover even over 35.) Super cheap guacamole and pica de gallo (both made to perfection); how some of the cheaper places mess up queso is just absolutely unacceptable, screwing up melted cheese is comparable to f'n up an anvil. Perfect crispy tacos made with clearly the finest ground chuck. This place is just a gem and if you Cali idiots don't support it move back to LA and give props to their chic restaurants with names spelled wrong, all ambiance and no substance. This place is everything the all show and no love places aren't.

Amaya's has been the best for breakfast forever and now they are closing South Park location permanently. Today is last day. I am so very sad. Don't know for sure but escalating rent cost perhaps. Whatever, it is a big loss for the area.

My Son and I don't stray outside Round Rock often but since we were going to the Blue Starlite Mueller anyway, we decided to do dinner and a movie. To him, TexMex is a food group all on its own. In Google Maps, you can search for restaurants in close proximity OR at least on the way to your destination and this restaurant popped up. With so many good reviews and a TON of photos on the web, we decided to give them a try. We arrived yesterday at around 6 PM. Pros: The restaurant is clean and we were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. Both the waitress as well as the hostess thanked us for coming in and wished us a Merry Christmas. Our server was prompt, friendly, and attentive The space is well decorated, inside and out. Lots of fun colors and decorations. The salsa was a bit too spicy for my taste but had a really nice smokiness to it. Pairing it with some creamy queso took the heat down to a level I liked. Ample parking The crispy beef taco was not only very large, but they actually fry their own taco shells. This was the only thing, other than rice (moist and flavorful) and queso, I would purchase again. The bar looked rather new and appeared to have a brownish marble top. There were several TVs with various shows/sports playing. The bar was large so if we pop in again to grab a quick bite, we'll probably just sit there. Cons: When we walked up to the hosting station, there was a big RED sign that read "we now charge a 3.99% convenience fee for all those using credit cards" NOWHERE on the website did it state that! We either would have chosen another place OR just brought cash. These fees will most definitely affect the tips for the waitstaff which makes me super sad because everyone knows how crappy they get paid to begin with. We ordered the #6 Mexican Plate, which included a cheese enchilada, beef tamale, and a crispy beef taco with double rice, and no beans. The cheese enchilada and the tamale, for us, were just "meh". The prices are OUTRAGEOUSLY high for a low-end Tex-Mex restaurant. I'm okay paying $40 at Fonda San Miguel for fajitas. I'm NOT okay paying it at this place. The beef gravy that is supposed to come on our enchilada had no actual beef in it and was very bland for our taste. I know we are in the middle of one of the worst inflations in a long time and I get that prices have gone up all the way around (IE the ingredients they use, insurance, credit card fees, etc) but if you start trying to price gouge your customers eventually you won't have many customers left...no matter how long you've been open or how many followers you have on social media.

The service was good ..at first . We ordered and everything was good until my soup came .It wasn't hot ..motor like Luke warm and when the waitress came around I told her I didn't want it anymore not wanting to return it to get warmed up for obvious reasons....she asked if I should take irlt off. After she took it she came back around and under her breath said I took it off and walked off. I told her it wasn't her fault but she still seemed upset. Not happy with them anymore after new owners not the same!

Do Not order the Margarita mix!! Essentially that's what the margarita on the rocks tasted like. Absolutely no taste or evidence of Tequila. There's no frozen Margarita option. It came with a glass full of ice to the brim. After three sips all the mix was gone. And to add insult upon injury the cost was a whopping $9.40. I complained to the server and she informed me that's why people do not order the Margarita on the rocks!! The food is good however. I have been going to Amaya's shortly after it initially opened, I'm done!!

After a string of disappointing meals in New Orleans, it was good to get home to a tried and true Mexican breakfast. My migas with cheese were delicious. The beans needed salt (unusual), but the potatoes were extra yummy. The only complaint I have is that for some reason, the servers never seem to get my husband's order right: he asks for no potatoes, double beans. And yet, those potatoes are always there. His machacado con huevos with cheese was good, though. Service was prompt. We enjoyed it -- far better than our next meal out, which I have already reviewed.

This place has been on my radar for years and today I can check it off my bucket list. Great food and service by Silvia. We shared the #2 beef fajita Tampiquena plate with rice, guacamole and beans, the 'fitas were tender and tasty, the grilled onions and veggies were very good, this is our go to dish to compare how a new place stacks up against cafes we love....the other fave we always compare is the ground beef enchiladas....Amaya's hit it out of the park on both of these. We got and made disappear 2 of these bad boys. They may not have to wash our plates...just saying. Another thing we liked was even though they were full, it was a very short wait before getting a table and as busy as they were the service was friendly and fast. We'll be back for more.

Their homemade corn tortillas are to die for. The carne guisada is delicious as well as anything else I've tried. The staff is excellent too. Check it out.

This place has been going down hill over the last year. The parking lot used to be full before the pandemic. No longer. Ever since the waitresses began using the digital system for taking your order, our food is always screwed up. Today it was screwed up and cold! The service was bad. It forever to get our check so we could leave. The waitress was disinterested. We have been eating breakfast here for 8 years. The Machacado was always good. Not anymore. We are done with Amaya's. Really sad.

I left a cash tip, and someone added an additional $3.00 to the receipt. Prices have already skyrocketed, and they charge a service fee for dining in. This is what we get for supporting local!!!

Food has no flavor at all. I had soup it was bland. My husband had the quesadillas they were also bland. There's no agua Fresca the green sauce is watery and the red sauce isn't hot . I gave a two for service

Good food, especially the homemade corn tortillas, migas, enchiladas, and rice and beans. I would NOT order a Mexican martini again because I don't think any alcohol was in mine. They are strong at other restaurants but the ones here are super weak. But I'll be back for everything else.

Good food, good service and good price! The astetics is not so glamorous but what it lacks is made up in heart. Our server was friendly and there when you wanted. Outstanding! The food was actually too much to eat but so good. We had two bowls of chips with salsa. The chips were warm and the salsa had a great flavor with a slight kick. Not watered down but good consistency. We ordered the breakfast Huevos Ranchero and breakfast tacos for our meals. Everything was so delicious. We went at 11 am on a Saturday so there was a waiting list. We waited about 15 minutes but again worth it. The parking lot was full of cars but there was still places to park. If you want a good breakfast and have some time to spare stop by and give this place a try. I know you will leave with a full belly! Another authentically boring Mexican food place... that falls way short of any authentic taste. Some friends of ours love this place and wanted us to try it. So we finally came here. I guess I have just been burned out on "cheap Mexican food". The building is nothing special, run down, and basic. The menu is the same as every other mediocre Mexican food place... number specials, melted cheese, sides of guacamole, however the chips are awesome and the salsa is just the right spice as well, and various combination plates. I had the recommended... taco, cheese enchilada, and a tamale... with refried beens and rice. The taco was unique in the way that the shell is crunchy and soft at the same time, it over flows with meat and toppings, and is really quite intriguing. It is good but the flavoring of the meat is pretty salty... I suggest using the salsa on the taco to bring in some heat. This place is not much different then 200 other corner Mexican food places. Service was good, the chips and salsa were great, and the prices were ok... it's ok... but nothing spectacular.

Chips and salsa were solid and plentiful. The tacos- meh. Shredded beef and chicken and gloppy american cheese like you'd find at Taco Bell. What's worse, they charged $13.40 for just 3 of these tacos. You'd be better off with a taco truck at these prices. Wife got the fish tacos- the fish was decently-sized, but not super flavorful. We left full, but overall I'd say this place is slightly overpriced in terms of portion size, and DEFINITELY overpriced in terms of quality/taste of the food. Lots of good mexican options in Austin, why bother?

This is currently a eat in restaurant. Pretty basic inside. All the employees were wearing masks and gloves, so they try. The menu is in very small print, bring your glasses! The prices are reasonable with most dinners around $13-14. The waiter brought warm chips to my table with salsa, as I viewed the menu. chips were very good! I ordered 2 enchiladas which came smothered in sauce and melted cheese. If you like your food swimming in sauce, you would like this. While plate was hot, and cheese melted, the enchiladas weren't that hot. They must run this under a broiler. I have stomach issues, so for me, I wouldn't come back, but table next to me loved their meal! I would order something else, this probably wasn't a good choice for me.

This was our first visit since the whole Covid-19 experience, but after getting our first round of vaccinations, we decided to stop in for some lunch and a celebratory drink. Whether due to social distancing, or who knows what, we waited behind another family for at least 10 minutes. Once finally seated,, we were put into attentive hands of Ray. Oddly, I couldn't help but think that someone forgot to put even a single chile in the salsa which tasted more like tomato sauce. And for the first time ever, the tortillas for my tacos were laden with grease, which was just unpleasant.

Came here for the beef enchiladas and did not leave disappointed. They were simply delicious. Stuffed full of delicious taco meat, yellow cheese, then topped with red enchilada sauce and a very generous amount of melted cheese. This is where other enchiladas go awry. They skimp on the cheese. Didn't quite make it to 5 stars because the rice was bland and flavorless. Refried beans were cooked perfectly. Service was friendly and prompt.

Yum!!!! We stopped in since another restaurant had a crazy wait at 2pm on a Sunday. We came here and were seated in five minutes. I didn't realize they close at 3pm and they didn't even turn away guests until after 3pm. Kudos to them. The chips and salsa was delicious. The salsa had a great kick to it. I ordered the Mexican plate. Everything was good. I was starving so it was gone quick. My god kids enjoyed their food and even ate the chips and spicy salsa. The server was amazing! He was on top of it and very pleasant. We had a great experience here and we left happy with our bellies full.
