17 London Bars You Can Book For Your Birthday

"Considering it was once a church, Amazing Grace is a pretty sexy space. A huge live music venue in London Bridge that helpfully doubles as a cool bar situation, it accepts pre-booked reservations of all sizes as long as there doesn’t happen to be a gig on that particular night. Don’t expect anything too revolutionary from the cocktail list but the classics like spicy margaritas and rum punch are covered, plus there’s a nice little selection of mocktails. " - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, sinead cranna

The 15 Best Bars For Big Groups In London - London - The Infatuation

"Is this a somewhat silly name for a bar? Yes. Is said silly-named bar a fabulous mix of cool, grand, and extremely handy if you need to book a table for 10 like, right now? Also yes. When you first walk into Amazing Grace, look up. The converted church in London Bridge has blues on the speakers, a mezzanine overlooking the candlelit stage where the live music happens, and a whole lot of green leather seating. It’s a swish solution for the eternal riddle of where to go for group drinks when you don't want fluorescent cocktails and to lose your voice. You can make a reservation for up to 20 on the website. " - Heidi Lauth Beasley, Jake Oliver, Sinead Cranna

The Bar Hit List: The Best New Bars In London - London - The Infatuation

"“I was raised a good Christian girl—I know, given most of the things I’ve written for this website, we’re all surprised—and it’s for that reason that I can say I know a good church when I see one. Amazing Grace in London Bridge is a converted church hosting live music and is a great shout for anyone who spent the entirety of our many lockdowns posting ‘I miss gigs :(‘ on Twitter. The drinks are pretty standard but it’s the space and commitment to Good Tunes that really sets it apart from your average drinking den. There’s plenty of standing space in front of the stage but if you’re here for a carefully orchestrated display of your personality—some call this practice a ‘first date’—then sit up on the mezzanine. Just be sure to check out the calendar of live performances so you don’t rock up to a ‘90s tribute night when you were expecting a live jazz saxophone session.” - HLB " - Heidi Lauth Beasley, Daisy Meager, Sinead Cranna

12 Exciting Things To Eat, Do, & Buy This December

"Amazing Grace is a brand new, big-deal music venue in London Bridge. Mr Bao is a little Taiwanese spot in Peckham that makes the best bao in London. Put them together and you’re in for an excellent meal. To mark the Season of Santa, Mr Bao will be serving turkey Christmas bao, stir-fried brussels sprouts with Chinese sausage, and - deep breath - pigs in blanket bao at this big converted church. Available throughout December, we should also mention that the space at Amazing Grace is really quite something and totally perfect for a late-December mini-Christmas with mates." - heidi lauth beasley

Amazing Grace - Review - London Bridge - London - The Infatuation

"When you walk into Amazing Grace, you look up. This converted church—that also spent some time being a site for live surgery lessons, but let’s not dwell on that stunning portion of its history—is really quite something. Blues on the speakers, a mezzanine overlooking the candlelit stage where the live music happens in the evening, and lots of tasteful green leather seats. Also, importantly, Mr Bao is doing the food here. If you haven’t been to their Peckham location or their Daddy Bao spot in Tooting, then all you need to know is that you should stick to the headliners, and that’s the shiitake mushroom bao. Expect nice cocktails, pints, and big boozy ‘gospel brunches’ at the weekend." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

I was out for First Fridays at the Tate Modern this month and a friend suggested we grab a drink at Amazing Grace afterwards. I wasn't totally sure what to expect, and while the walk over felt a bit longer than I anticipated, it ended up being so worth it. There was a modest £5 cover, which honestly felt like a steal once we got inside. The energy in the room was electric! The live performers were phenomenal—seriously, the kind of voices that make you stop mid-sentence just to soak it all in. The upstairs lounge had a great vibe, and the dancefloor was already buzzing... and it was only around 10:15pm! I spotted a few people still enjoying food, but unfortunately the kitchen had just closed by the time we arrived. Not a huge deal—just means I’ll definitely be back to give the menu a proper try. Between the music, the drinks, and the atmosphere, Amazing Grace has officially earned a spot on my regular date night list. If you’re in the area and looking for something fun, lively, and a little unexpected—this place is it.

Fun night with tasty food and great drinks. Early evening visit was perfect before it got a bit hectic but sure it’s buzzing as the night goes on! The Korean Potato Bites were the absolute stars. So yum.

I had a lovely experience at Amazing Grace recently, and have rated 4 stars for a few reasons. The food was delicious and the team helped navigate allergy issues however table ordering via QR code was turned off during our visit. It was an extremely busy Saturday evening and the wait at the counter was quite long and I don't think enough staff were on for the number of guests. During the live music, the audience was particularly rowdy, whistling constantly (egged on by performer). Whilst I appreciate this was in good spirits, this whistling was constant for the entire performance and really jarring. Thankfully, I had my loops but my friends really struggled with this. Unfortunately, I also maintain there aren't enough women's toilets in this venue, with queues reaching all the way around to the steps. Women were not allowed into the loo together, whereas, in the exact same bathrooms, two men were allowed in the same loo at the same time. I couldn't quite understand this and it seemed like unnecessary policing. The staff in the loo would have been better placed on the bar where actually needed. Other than these small issues, the evening at Amazing Grace was lovely. The food was absolutely delicious. I treated myself to the Korean Tato Tots with added pulled pork as well as a Crispy Chicken Bao. Both were great! Both performers of the night were very talented, however the second act stole the show. They were superb!

I thoroughly enjoyed myself here! I went for the daytime party (not the brunch) and I enjoyed it. The DJs were excellent with their R&B mixes and careful selection of dancehall towards the end. It does get a bit crammed inside there but with the vibe and high energy, you won’t even be bothered (besides isn’t that every scene in London?). Toward the last hour or so, they remove the tables and chairs in the center to make more space for dancing. The bar is crowded but the bartenders move so quickly, you have no reason to complain. The cocktails were lovely except my Henny Long Island was a bit too sour for me. Overall, a great experience. I’m already looking forward to going back. It’s the perfect time for a party/rave 😁

Amazing place with great people. Very friendly and happy security (specially one lady with her incredible professional approach to people and smile) and front desk gentleman who greeted us with such welcoming energy. Bar staff makes drinks with passion. Great music, great atmosphere, great food. Decor of the place is breath taking, lights are mind blowing. Thank you so much for a lovely night - definitely recommend ❤️

Wonderful experience! Lovely music 🎶, singers are superb 👌 and the services are great. Key things to note, book your table for a longer time if you intend to visit because you will end up staying longer due to the lovely rhythm. They ask us out of our seats. They don't care if you still have food or drinks, bad!

First of all I would like to say thankyou to this venue for having us. I just didn’t appreciate the stuffiness that came with the venue, asked on multiple occasions for air conditioning to be turned on and I was ignored. Couldn’t really enjoy myself that much as I was sweating and dying from the heat. The rum punch was terrible, was overly sour and couldn’t taste the rum. Next time use 100ml monin strawberry syrup, 100ml passion syrup 50ml elderflower syrup 150ml lime juice then add orange, pineapple and mango juice then add whatever dark and white rum. As a bartending I was disappointed. Thankyou to the young black woman at the bar who was friendly attentive and made sure I had what I needed. Unfortunately won’t be coming back.
