Amazon Go’s New U.K. Supermarkets Are in Wembley and Islington | Eater London

"Located in a new-build housing area of Wembley Park, this recently opened small-format grocery follows the same tech-first model, using a “just walk out” surveillance system to minimise staffing and speed visits. The store stocks the chain’s branded ready-to-eat items alongside common supermarket products, a modest bakery section, produce and non-food items like e-readers. It’s designed to capture quick local trips rather than replace full-size supermarkets." - James Hansen

The shop is clean, tidy and easy to access if you have an Amazon account. The gimmick is shopping and getting charged without a till and it worked well for our items. The staff were friendly in explaining how it works. Shame you can’t use Apple Pay to tap in though and need a physical card. Would recommend the meal deals there, especially the park later and bakery item.

I had an unpleasant experience at this Amazon Fresh location due to the conduct of the tall Black security guard. His body language was aggressive and unwelcoming—far more like a police officer interrogating someone than a professional there to support a retail environment. His tone was rude, his responses were curt, and his overall demeanor felt unnecessarily intimidating. As a customer, I expect to feel safe and respected, not judged or made to feel uncomfortable the moment I walk in. Security is important, but it should never come at the cost of basic courtesy and professionalism. Amazon Fresh needs to seriously consider how their staff—especially those at the entrance—represent the brand. First impressions matter, and mine was ruined by someone who clearly lacks proper customer service training.

We stopped by this place to buy a beer before the Coldplay concert. The establishment has a turnstile system to allow customers in, which makes a temporary £1 charge on your credit card. Then you pick up the product you want, and when you leave through an automatic exit gate, the system detects what you’ve taken and charges your card accordingly—without any staff at the checkout. When we got home, we realized that instead of the £2.70 the beer cost, the establishment had charged £20 to the card. Worst of all, there’s no way to make a claim, because they don’t give you a receipt and you have no way to prove what product you actually took. Thieves.

Really enjoyed this shop, it was really well priced and different to the usual shopping experience. You scan your credit/debit card on entering the shop, pick up what you want, and simply walk out with it, somehow the shops cameras know exactly what you've walked out with and your card will be charged the correct price. Admittedly, I did have to ask someone how to pay/leave and then this was explained to me as there were no signs, and it did feel strange just picking up what I wanted and walking out! Would return if in the area.

Google
The strangest - but coolest shopping experience and an interesting glimpse into the future. The store is well stocked, and prices seems to be cheaper than other stores on various products. You simply walk in, pick up items, put them in your bag, and walk out. The staff that are present (door staff, stockists, etc) are very friendly and helpful. It's an curious addition to the high street, and a cool experience.

When I walked past this Amazon Fresh store in Wembley I could not resist going in. Quick scan of the app and multiple people could enter under the same account which was great. Great selection of products inside with competitive prices and very helpful staff. Really liked the Oatly coffee machine, great unique piece. Definitely recommend visiting if you have the opportunity, amazing experience

Best shopping experience ever. Loved the store's atmospherics, the great variety of fresh products, and the whole shopping process was perfect. Easy and quick. Also, loved the mini bar at the entrance that offers all the essentials for free. Can't wait to see this kind of stores in every country.

We went into this store to grab a beer before the Coldplay concert. The place uses a turnstile system that places a temporary £1 hold on your credit card just to let you in. You then pick up whatever item you want, and when you exit through an automated gate, the system scans what you’ve taken and charges your card—there are no staff members at the checkout at all. Once we got home, we noticed that instead of charging the £2.70 that the beer actually cost, they had billed us £20. The worst part is that there’s no way to dispute it, since they don’t give you any receipt and there’s no proof of what you actually bought. Absolute scam.

Yelp
I bought 1 pack of prawns today cost pounds 4.60. There was no self checkout. When I left store today, a lady staff standing at entrance assured me that charges will be fine. However, when I got back, my credit card has a deduction of pounds 20 at 17:11. This is cheating. Amazon fresh, please refund me the wrong charges !!!!

Yelp
He was so easy to shop there they have lots of wonderful items and it's so fun to shop there but we didn't have much variety. They only really had food and charging cables. We need a couple like electronic devices. The food was nice loved sushi was also very good, so was ambience the people look for front were very kind. They helped us scan the QR code on the Amazon account and that's pretty much it for the service. Bye.

Yelp
Great, convenient little shop. Highly recommend. It took us a minute to get in because we're from the US and the helper man was great.

Yelp
Amazon Fresh at Wembley Park is Amazon's second store in the UK, it is located a stone's throw away from Wembley Stadium and opposite the Hilton Hotel, so it's in a good location for both Wembley/Brent residents and match-going fans to get their essentials. The store is similar to Amazon Go stores in the US, but a slightly worse version, you scan the QR code to get into the store, and from there you pick up the items you want, and you simply walk out with no need for checkouts, I had a receipt emailed to me shortly after my trip and my card was then charged, for all four of the items I purchased. Nothing more. Nothing less. They also have a cool area where you can pick up and return Amazon products, and they also sell alcohol and spirits, although if you are visiting on an event-day at Wembley, these products will not be sold. Also for event-goers, please remember that Wembley Stadium does not allow food or drink, so if you are purchasing stuff, get them AFTER the match and not before. The store was clean and modern, and the selection was pretty good, they had a large selection of Amazon's own brands including meals and milk. I did find prices to be a little more expensive, especially for essentials and branded items including butter and milk, strangely some products were more expensive in person than buying through Amazon Fresh online. I would have liked to see a cold drinks machine, similar to what they have in the US, in terms of drinks machines they did have two coffee machines, one of which only serves oat milk. I like how they use a separate machine for oat milk, as someone with an allergy to oats, it means I can use the left machine, in confidence, knowing that my coffee is not contaminated by oats. (I wish more and more places realised the dangers of offering oat milk without cleaning down before/after use!) 4* - Pretty cool store, I love the concept more than anything, this store is surely the best of its' kind in the Wembley Park area and was a much-needed addition. The staff are friendly too.
