A Maximalist Nonna-Chic Restaurant Is Landing in the La Jolla Theater District | Eater San Diego

"Slated to open in the La Jolla Theater District in late September or October at 9165 S Scholars Drive, South La Jolla, CA 92037, this nonna-inspired concept is a maximalist, seafood-forward restaurant blending Southern Italian and Southern California flavors. All items will be made in-house — including bread, pasta, and gelato — and rotating prix-fixe pre-theater menus will offer playful, production-themed tastings timed with nearby shows. The 3,800-square-foot venue (2,600 interior, 1,200 patio) seats up to 100 and includes a private dining room for 16; interiors by Bells and Whistles feature a Campari-toned oval bar, chestnut-stained oak, hand-applied plaster, unlacquered brass, recycled-glass-and-marble Italian mosaics, plush velvet banquettes, Sicilian-style furnishings, and custom lighting, creating a sophisticated, “nonna-chic” atmosphere aimed at theatergoers, students, residents, and local food lovers." - Helen I. Students are always nice on campus in most of the stores. But outside of this setting, most look unhappy and anxious. Seems to be getting more common as the campus transforms into a soulless city. But it doesn't have to be this. Smile, be kind to each other. Say hi to a stranger. Hear a story or share your own. Don't let this place suck the life out of you. Plant seeds of love and hope everywhere you go.

I honestly don’t understand why this place has such a low average rating. I went on a Friday, there was no line at all, the service was very good, and I went there to make a return, everything went smoothly and the experience was excellent.

The Amazon hub counter at the UCSD bookstore has MoVeD to this new location at 9165 Scholars Dr. South, in the Sankofa hall, of 8th college, facing the La Jolla Playhouse. The new location is smaller than the old hub store, with a new wall of lockers being half the size, total square footage about half as big, and the counter is now just a Dutch door, to interface with. This location is much easier to get to with a car, however 8th college is still under construction, and there is no known parking as of yet. If you park in the bike lane in front of the store ticketing is probable. My SuGGeSTioN is to arrive with a friend and have the friend circle around in the car for a few minutes. while you run in and out of the Amazon hub. Hopefully, 8th college will have a couple of 20 minute visitor parking spots, or some customer parking since the ground floors seem to be designated as retail spaces. Overall, I think this new location will prove to be a much better experience for most people. Ciao.

HUGE mistake using this location unless you are a student. Parking sucks. It is a long ways away, and you are charged to park there. Go to the Whole Foods two miles away.

Very hard to find in the GPS and park. Set the GPS as an Amazon Hub Locker (not the address) and the best bet is a park in the P508 (just 4 parking spot) and walk for 5 minutes and be quick and lucky to don’t get a ticket.

I find this current employee here absolutely unacceptable. To other people, he would say hi, welcome in etc, and always say have a great day or other warm closings. On the otherhand, I am am completely being discriminated against and treated with complete disrespect everytime I see him. He would not say a single word to me. Oh and the only thing he would say is that he would cuss at me, which I am completely shocked by. I feel nervous to go there everytime because of this annoying employee. If the manager sees this, please let him know about this issue; this is very unprofessional. I am giving zero stars to this place if I could. Absolutely horrible place. I think I should provide video examples too of how this employee acts, but Im not sure if this violates any privacy policies

This location is wonderful. It was easy to find and their staff is amazing. Every single person who works here is awesome! Yess.. the parking options are not the best, but this is a school campus and not a shopping plaza. It isn't the employees' fault that Amazon/UCSD decided to move them to this location. Even with their parking situation, I have never had an issue just pulling over to the side with the hazards on, rush inside to drop off a package, and be on my way within a few minutes. Can't emphasize enough how wonderful the employees are!

HERE IS HOW YOU GET TO THE AMAZON LOCKER DURING/NOT DURING CONSTRUCTION...i go here all the time... go to google maps and type in "UCSD Study abroad office", park in parking lot just north of it where the red rectangle is (there is also parking along the street on russell lane if you can find availability). Are you allowed to park here? NO, does it matter, NO. put on your hazards and walk over and get your package and get right back. when there is NOT construction take the green path, walk 50 feet past myers dr and bust a right into the bookstore you cant miss it. walk down the stairs and make a right, keep walking and youll see amazon lockers all over the place. when there IS construction, take the red path around the building, walk down the zig zag staircase and follow along the wall on the first floor and itll take you through the back entrance of the store. zoom in on google maps on your phone and you cant mess this up. UPVOTE this so no more people have to wander aimlessly around campus. GOOD LUCK
