On the Grid : 47 Ronin

"Run by the funky Hattori Hanzo team, this is the more classy proposal. This cubic and elegant place is located in one of the foodies meeting points of the neighbourhood: Jorge Juan street. Surrounded by fancy shops and cozy terraces, the blackness and sobriety of this japanese-garden like space does not leave you indifferent. Here, traditional japanese gastronomy meets a more creative one in an open kitchen who serves a colourful and tasty food, made with prime ingredients." - id.real

Amazónico - Review - Salamanca - Madrid - The Infatuation

"Amazónico looks like the European version of Rainforest Cafe - minus the mechanical gorillas and dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets. Most people come for the giant steaks, but there are also plenty of seafood dishes that are just as impressive. After dinner, head downstairs to their ’20s-inspired jazz club where you’ll find live music and dim lighting paired with tropical-inspired cocktails. Amazónico is one of the more popular restaurants in the city, so make a reservation as soon as you book your flights." - Cristina Shipe

Google
The venue is beautifully decorated and every touch from the elegance to the details of other plates, silverware, and cocktails was well thought of. Our food was delicious from Picaña ribeye. Shredded pork on yucca chip and sushi. The service was rushed and considering how expensive it is, this was under appreciated. The cocktails were okay and a very small portion. Definitely an experience overall.

Google
The food was great except one dish was ok for me but good for my party. The jazz club is nice, dark and loud if you like that kind of atmosphere. The service was on point. I tried the frog legs for the first time, it was delicious, and tasted like chicken wings.

This was my first time dining at a restaurant in Madrid, and unfortunately, I left feeling disappointed and overcharged. While the décor was undeniably beautiful and well thought out, the service and food didn’t match the expectations—or the price. For example, they charged a 10% service fee, yet the service was far from impressive. My wine arrived late, and the french fries I ordered never showed up. They presented a few items—corn cream, olives, and bread—as “courtesy,” yet each was later charged at four euros on the bill. That doesn’t feel like courtesy at all. We never asked for them. We ordered a crab salad, which was good but nothing remarkable. The two sushi rolls were average, and the flaunder fish dish was just okay. We also had an Albariño, two mojitos, two small ice creams, and one really desset . The final bill came to €215, which felt excessive for what we received. With so many great restaurants in Madrid offering better food and value, this one falls short. I’d recommend it for the ambiance, maybe for a drink or a light bite, but not for a full dinner. Overall, it's not terrible, but it's definitely not worth the price. I recommend it 75%.

I really loved this place—the atmosphere was fantastic, the food was delicious, and the service was good. I had a great time with my friends. The only downside was when we wanted to sit outside after dinner. About 20 minutes later, a staff member asked us to leave the table, saying it was reserved. It would’ve been better if he had informed us from the beginning, as the situation felt a bit awkward—especially since the group who later took the table had also been sitting inside like us, which made it seem a bit questionable. So we decided to leave after that. It was unprofessional. Other than that, everything else was great and we enjoyed our time overall.

Google
The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the service overall was good. The corn soup we were offered at the beginning was truly amazing – definitely the highlight of the meal for us. However, the main courses didn’t really impress us. Based on our personal tastes and previous experiences, we found them just satisfactory. We didn’t continue with dessert. One thing we didn’t like was the attitude of the staff taking the orders. It felt like they were more focused on selling rather than understanding what we actually wanted, which left a negative impression. That’s one of the main reasons we wouldn’t return. On a positive note, the cocktails were very good !

Google
The place looks amazing! Great design and decorations! Service noting special, Food, quality price a bit unbalanced. Sushi roll nothing special, oyster were good and fresh but a bit overpriced. Filet steak was good, skirt-steak

AO “Fine diner”

Google
Great decoration and ambience you feel you’re inside the jungle, both for dinner and lunch. Small menu but tasty. The veggies are amazing and pineapple dessert is a must. They have a wide variety of wines by the glass, impecable presentation. They have a jazz bar downstairs, somewhat overpriced considering the portions.

Google
The food was good but got me sick in bed for 2 days… it’s either the raw fish, sea urchins or the ice-creams. If you’re traveling for only a few days in Madrid pick well the restaurants you are visiting to avoid ruining your stay…

Yelp
This place is beautiful! Food, vibes, music, ambiance was amazing! Loved the jazz club downstairs.

Yelp
My son told us to try Amazónico as he had been there with his fiancée and loved it. Maybe it was the time when we got there, but the servers were more interested in talking to each other than serving the bar. And to our astonishment, a cockroach walked through the bar and there was really no apology. Incredible from a place such as this. I am posting a picture because it's unbelievable. Too bad because the place is beautiful.

Yelp
This place is out of this world! The ambiance, service and the on of the best decorated restaurants I've been to! We got the sashimi, rib eye, and seabass and to be honest, it was a little too salty for my taste given that it was cooked over fire but I didn't mind because everything else was great including their Expresso martini! This is an experience restaurant and they truly delivered!

Yelp
Great experience and delicious food! Delightful and unique ambiance with the Amazon theme. Was comfortable at the booth with my partner. Absolutely loved the food including the sushi, the whole fish, and the mussels. The tiki drinks looked very interesting but we stuck to cava instead. Overall really enjoyed the food - was surprised by the rating on Yelp!

CL C.

Yelp
The service was attentive and welcoming. The wait staff and manager took great concern with the seafood and nut allergy within our party. The decor aesthetic is appealing and speaks to the theme of the restaurant perfectly. Food delicious and cocktails on point.

Yelp
Well, I honestly don't know how to write this review it does sadden me bc I did have a huge expectation for celebrating the New Year. This place was recommended by a friend. The menu was prefixed and the price was $700.00 pp. When I made the reservation (paid in advance no cancellation) they did tell me that there would be a live Brazilian band and DJ and I thought to myself ok that would be fun. I can maybe take into account the higher price for dinner bc if this. There is also a Jazz Club on the bottom floor, but I wasn't given any information to that in order to compare. I don't eat meat and when the meat plate came to all in the party, I did not get anything to eat or offered anything. They have a sushi bar, asked for a couple of rolls and never arrived to our table. They did have an open bar included in the price, but no brand names which included house wine and liquor. As you may guess by this time I wasn't very happy. The only entertainment was a girl drummer team and a dancer dressed like a peacock. There was no live band , DJ or dancing. The food was not up to par for the price either. The caviar served was their brand and the prawns had a very fishy taste. Take the info as you'd like. It may be a place to go maybe to the jazz club and have a drink. Again don't know if they have brand named liquors. Place is unique in a wealthy neighborhood. It was NYE which for that price you'd think it would be worth the price & hype, but unfortunately didn't. Very disappointing. Also just an info for the future, there are no cabs or Uber available in Madrid on NYE so take that into consideration in your future reservations.

Yelp
100000/10 hands down! The restaurant had a amazing ambience. It matches the pictures and right when you walk in you know you'll have a great night! It is a huge place with multiple bars and their is a 20 foot glassed mirror you can see through of the kitchen. From the steak being primed, vegetables chopped and cooked etc. There is dimness yet the lights are bright and they have a cool outside LED aligned animal. It's a very exotic and jungle feel. My drink was rum and passion fruit which was amazing and my friends and I ordered a big friend. Sushi, lobster, steak and potatoes and the lava cake. The lobster was crunchy and had its own chili sauce based in it. I should have ordered my own steak because it was so juicy and tender. Literally perfection. The dinnerware is super unique with animals on the plates, I've never seen this before. I'd love to go back!

Yelp
Food was good but they rush you. Seems like trying to turn tables. Main service terrible but the support staff is good. Wish they would let you enjoy your meals more

Morgan J.

Yelp
Love you guys, but try harder The service is slowwwwww. No water for ages. I'm parched. I almost passed out at the bar. It took 40 minutes to get a table that we reserved. Get more girlies on the floor or stop overbooking. Thank youuu

Yelp
The drinks selection is diverse, and the side dishes are well executed, making the dining experience more colorful.

Yelp
To say this restaurant alone almost ruined our trip to Madrid is an understatement. Terrible service and the staff was not welcoming what so ever. We waited almost 30 minutes for our waiter to take our order after the initial introduction. Our drinks did not come till after our food was brought. Nice atmosphere but not worth being felt like we were a bother to be in their presence. Our €256 bill could have been spent elsewhere and receive a higher quality meal. 10/10 do NOT recommend you wasting your time at this terrible restaurant.

Julia P.

Yelp
We were very excited to try this place as it had been recommended to us by a few different people. When we arrived we told the hostess our name and reservation time and they walked us outdoors to a table with no menu or silverware. I was disappointed that there were no fans or misters outside. The server said hello and asked if we had reservation. We responded that we did and then asked for menus. He set the table at that point. After a few more minutes, the waiter came back and once again asked if we had a reservation and wrote our name down as if he was going to check with the hostess. We asked for tap water which we did get pretty quickly but the waiter did not come back for another 30 mins. One of us got up and asked if there was a problem with the reservation bc we were not being waited on at all. We felt very unwelcome. Once the waiter returned, we ordered our drinks and he seemed like he wanted us to go ahead and order our food, so we did. About 10 mins after ordering, someone brought our food out and sat it outside, not at our table but by the service bar outside. The food sat there for about 10 minutes (we still didn't have our drinks). We got two of our drinks and then they brought our food over (half of the group still didn't have cocktails). Once we had our food we asked for the remaining drinks which they seemed unaware of and we got about 10 mins later when we were nearly done with our entrees. In regards to the food, the were tiny and the waiter did not give us any indication of this when we ordered, so we were all left wanting more. The sushi rolls came out all on one small plate which made it difficult since the people eating sushi were not next to each other. We were about half way through eating our entrees when the waiter brought out some bread for us. It was rock hard and difficult to eat but we did anyways because the portions were so small we were hungry. The waiter literally did not come back after this and someone else came to clean up at which point we asked for the check. 10% gratuity was included.

Yelp
We went downstairs to the jazz club and we had a 2 hr limit which was fine. Sea bass was great minus a few bones, chicken was par for the course. My friend ordered a prosecco which they didn't have so they brought the wine list and offered her a sparkling wine which was 12 euro, I ordered a 10 euro syrah which they said they didn't have but said they could offer me a pino noir and I said fine. When we received the bill the wine they offered me was 42 euro a glass without ever telling me. when I contested it and said you never told me the manager came over and started yelling at me, telling me she showed me the wine list which she did not! I said I would be disputing it with my American Express and would pay and leave and this was unethical and she was extremely rude and yelled at me she had dark brown curly hair.
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
The food is "fine," but totally out of line with the prices. Ordered a steak medium, it came out essentially raw. The crab salad was comically 32 euro (lol). The misters at the outdoor tables did not work. Would be a reasonable spot if prices were reduced 50%

Yelp
This restaurant is very overrated. Ordered a tuna roll type starter, just ok. Ordered some lamb spring roll type thing, not flavorful at all. Ordered the suggested meat dishes. The entraña and the Picanha and the quality of the meat was just not good. The entraña was very chewy to say the least and the picanha was lacking in juiciness and flavor. A side from one of the male waiters (sommelier) the service was also really bad. Not worth the trip.

Yelp
Nice food, nice service , nice enviroment!. It was a great moment for me and my wife during our trip to spain
google avatar

Yelp
A dear friend recommended this restaurant and for good reason. It interior decor is crazy cool, Brazilian steak carving and enough staff to make sure you don't want for anything. Absolutely amazing! Make reservations for sure, line was out the door

Yelp
Went here for dinner and loved every minute of it. Starting from the staff, looks like tight management and everyone knows exactly what to do. Everyone is super kind and professional. The atmosphere is vibey and fun. Food was delicious and very fun to look at. Would definitely be back here! Wished I took more pictures but was took busy enjoying the yummy food.

Yelp
We went to the Madrid location and enjoyed the atmosphere and the drinks. However, the food was just okay and service could be improved upon. Our waitress didn't stop by our table once after our starters so, we ended up having to ask the girl assisting the rest of the meal (drinks, dessert, check). Although pricey, the food was just okay. this was the most disappointing me of our trip and I would not come back.
google avatar

Caroline V.

Yelp
The menu at first catches you off guard with exotic offerings but there is something for everyone. As a vegetarian it is important for me to find a dish that is fulfilling and has rich tastes. The wok 25 vegetables was my favorite dish and the artisanal cocktails were delicious. This restaurant is in an upscale neighborhood and very popular amongst the locals. A reservation in advance is a must and is only 8 min in an Uber from the central of Madrid or a 30 min walk. I highly recommend checking this restaurant out of you are in Madrid.

Gabriel L.

Yelp
The restaurant's atmosphere was great ! As soon as you walk in you feel like you are emerged in a forest from fairytale . The service was decent and relatively fast . The starters were nicely balance with the paired sauces and were probably the highlight of the night . Unfortunately, starting with the main courses the experience started to disappoint. The "Lechal" was cooked nicely and was tender but felt incomplete without the crunch of the "chicharrón" . The Bife was good and presented in a beautiful plate but the Picanha was not very flavorful. The night finished with the server taking our order of desserts and coming back 15 minutes later with all the silverware. After 30 minutes he came back to tell us that the kitchen was closed and they couldn't serve desert. It was my Birthday dinner and my friends couldn't sing happy birthday with the dessert . Honestly , the most disappointing fine dining experience I have had in Madrid.

Blanca R.

Yelp
The food was great, lively fun place and good service. One of our favorites in Madrid.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant with great decor and ambience. We had the first seating from 7 to 9pm which would ordinarily have been sufficient except that service in between was slow and we were later rushed through dessert. Food was great and we started with the appetizers of chicken samosas, spicy tuna rolls and fatty tuna sashimi. Mains were also shared and we ordered the curry prawns, grilled hague and grilled lamb. The dessert of grilled pineapple hit all the right notes and I finished off with a glass of Inniskillin ice win.

Yelp
Almost didnt come because of the bad reviews on this app, but I followed a friend's suggestion and made rsvp, so glad I did! What a great place, excellent service, food was amazing... the best experience restaurant vibes were alsoo soo cool!!
google avatar

Brian R.

Yelp
Made a reservation for the downstairs jazz club. Expected jazz music. Their website says they have live music. Instead we got a DJ blasting club music. Still had to pay their outrageous 60 euro per person minimum. So we got 2 20 euro drinks and then paid 80 euro just to be able to leave. Truly terrible experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Muy mal atendidos, la comida fria y aparte nos cobraron un plato doble. Lo recomiendo cero!
google avatar

Racool S.

Yelp
Wow! This one of my favorite spots in Madrid since it will never fail you. This place is full of sugar for those looking. Dress to impress and enjoy their amazing menu. Everything from aged meat to very fresh and flavourful sushi. The restaurant has a Jazz Club underneath for those wanting to continue the night, which is open very late. The esthetics of the establishment are very tasteful. The resturant is in the best area of Madrid. The service is as good as it gets in Spain. Reservations are highly recommended, this place is always packed! Amanzon sushi bar avaliable for a more personal sushi experience.
google avatar

Sabrina C.

Yelp
Amazing food and atmosphere except the female bartender in front who is from Brazil I think, is just horrible. She is just miserable and so serious. Everyone at the bar just talks about her so it's a great conversation starter as well. Other than that, love the vibe and the food.
google avatar

Joey X.

Yelp
My colleagues and I came for dinner on Saturday night, and the restaurant reminded us a lot of Catch in LA in decor; a lot of colors, feathers, patterns on the walls, chandeliers, etc. It is Amazon themed, but in a very flamboyant and decadent way. The people watching is half the fun of coming to this restaurant: all the clientele were very well dressed and coiffed. A fair amount of couples, but also some very handsome tables of men and women who were giving each other looks all throughout the night! The food is quite good but of course expensive for what it is. We had a whole fish (sea bass I believe) that was very good, and short ribs at the end which were delectable. Cocktails are very good, the list is very long and fulsome so there's no shortage of choice when it comes to alcohol at this establishment. We also ordered a white wine that had been aged at the bottom of the sea / ocean - it was really good white wine. Overall a very enjoyable experience, and a great spot for a night out in Madrid!
google avatar

Calvin L.

Yelp
Food was excellent and decor is certainly very unique, but service was very poor. We waited quite awhile to get our menus, drinks and to get our food, but we were told near the end that we were running out of time and likely enough time to order dessert. When we responded saying that it was because the beginning of the food service was slow, the head waitress rolled is disgust. Despite excellent food and decor, I will not be recommending this place or making a return visit.
google avatar

Holly R.

Yelp
Very expensive. Very good food and cocktails. Went twice during a week in Madrid to listen to jazz. Music is an afterthought, here it's all about atmosphere. First night was supposed to be swing - it was swing with a punk twist. Second night was supposed to be "Las Vegas". The band started late and the lead singer showed up 18 minutes late for a set that was about 30 minutes. The small audience didn't shut up and unfortunately we were seated on the right in front of the wait station, where staff kept blocking our views. Staff were overly anxious to clear our table - as they charged extra for bread and olives, don't let them take it away before you are ready.
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
Note: Two dinner seating 8 & 10. If you go early you are warned to be away from your table by 10. Walking by the glassed in kitchen was awesome with great looking meats grilling Greeted and seated immediately. Great staff, drinks immediately offered and given. Great wines, US price sized but in Euros. Delicious apps. Outstanding entrees. We had a cross section of the entrees between the 8 of us. All were very tasty and the temps were awesome. Wine bottles flowed at the rate we requested. Great experience. Expensive. Fast american speed service(not a plus) Highly recommended We got our checks and were heading out at 958. The entire second service was waiting in the lobby and it was actually difficult to get out

Yelp
I love the atmosphere here! From the name, you can tell that they have an amazon theme going on. It's loud in there, almost like a bar but still a pretty good place for a romantic dinner. We came in with a reservation and we chose to sit at the sushi bar. They have a separate menu for the sushi and another for the main dishes. The sushi was good, not the best I've had but still decent. However, the main specialties, the meat dishes, are fabulous! I'm still drooling everytime I think about those dishes. The service quality is typical of all the countries over there. It's different from the US for sure. Here in the US, the servers are at your table almost every 5 minutes asking whether you are still doing ok. Over there, they just leave you alone to enjoy your food. If you need them then just make eye contact or wave. I'm totally fine with that.
google avatar

Merve C.

Yelp
This is the one place I would recommend everyone to check out in Madrid! Amazing service, ambiance and food! Highly enjoyed the whole experience. Definitely make reservation ahead of time they have multiple different seating times ours was 9-11pm. highly recommend trying their specialty red meat but if you are vegetarian they have amazing options for you on the menu. Amazonico salad & chocolate mouse was my fave but everything was presented and tasted so good! They also have a jazz bar downstairs make sure to check out before or after your meal for couple drinks!

Yelp
Amazónico is a seemingly popular restaurant and bar in the Salamanca district of Madrid. We met friends for after-dinner drinks on a Saturday night, so I can't comment on food, but the bar scene was definitely happening. The crowd was mature and well-dressed, which matched the luxurious bar atmosphere. The cocktail menu was all-encompassing, but easy to navigate based on liquor type. Cocktails were on the expensive side, starting at around 11€ each, but not a surprise given the upscale environment. The Gin Fizz I ordered was excellent and expertly prepared. Even though the bar was packed, the bartender did a great job spotting me amongst the crowd and taking my order. I would have stayed longer, but crowds are not my thing and it was basically shoulder to shoulder that Saturday night. Amazónico is definitely a place worth checking out for live music and crowded atmosphere. However, if you're looking for a more relaxed or "chill" night out, you should look elsewhere.

Yelp
Not recommended for anything serious, such as a business dinner. Sound level was so high that discussion with anyone but the person immediately beside you was impossible and out of hundreds of restaurants we have eaten at all over the world this year, this had BY FAR the worst service of any. We left an almost full bottle of expensive wine behind, despite nine of us having empty glasses for 45 minutes, as they don't leave the wine at the table and it was utterly impossible to attract a waiter - something that occurred through the whole night and which made it very frustrating for us and our guests. If the dinner is even vaguely important to you, do not go here.

Evelyn C.

Yelp
The decor in this restaurant is so beautiful. There is so much detail in the dinner ware, outdoor patio, walls etc. I can see why everyone loves coming here! I thought the service was impeccable and we were well taken care of. The drinks were unique and delicious. We loved the duck and rice. The sea bass was cooked well, but lacked a bit of flavor. Our least favorite was the picanha as it was a bit rough and flavorless. However I'd still return given what a pleasant dinner it was.

Nora P.

Yelp
The worst experience I have ever had in Spain!!! horrible food...but worse then that ..the worst service ever...I wish I had the name of the individual who took our order...he was rude and demeaning ..if you want a good meal and a true Spanish experience ...do not go here...
google avatar

Mark F.

Yelp
This came recommended by a few people. I can see why - great ambiance, open kitchen concept, takes reservations, and had a decent selection on the menu, but not huge. Drinks were heavy pours, and the food was decent portion size. Steaks were heavily salted, so watch out if you go in that direction. I had the Japanese Waygu. Good, but small portion. Service was good, and it was busy on a Friday night at 8pm. Most come in later I assume.
google avatar

Jonah S.

Yelp
This is an exceptional restaturant. First, it's fun, the atmosphere the staff the presentation and the decor. The food is fantastic. Excellent portions and amazing selection. Literally something for everyone
google avatar

Miguel O.

Yelp
My first time at this restaurant, although not a chain it belongs to restauranteur group with the trendiest places in town. Ambiance is great, lots of beautiful people and a great terrace. Food? Not impressed at all, not bad, just what you can expect from a expensive place like this.
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
!!WARNING!! Service is abysmal. Seated us at easily the worst table in the restaurant and tried to convince us that we'd reserved it especially. The wait staff then ignored us for the next 30 minutes. Waiter never once checked back in. When leaving I tired to speak to the manager but they wouldn't tell me who was in charge. Go at own risk.
google avatar

Juan J.

Yelp
Great place with great looking people. Prices aren't cheap but food definitely was good. There are sections for grilled meat/fish and sushi. The staff will ask if you want bread every 10 minutes or so (load up!). I don't know what I was thinking but I showed up at this place in my red flip flops, so don't do what I did.
google avatar

Anna C.

Yelp
Amazing. It gets super full so make a reservation. I had the prawn with curry and rice and it was delicious. We were 4 and we all loved the entrees and our food. Service is very good and fast.

Sabrina W.

Yelp
This restaurant is top notch. We ate downstairs in the jazz bar which had a great ambiance and was super fun. My friends and I ordered the cocktail of the day, sushi, the skirt steak and vegetable wok which I have to say were all incredible. Taking off a star for service because with prices as high, I think the waiters were a little rude and rushing us by the end. Other than that we had a great time.
google avatar

Tamara S.

Yelp
Great food, ambiance, service and the cocktail we had (passion fruit w/absolut elyx) ...Amazing! We had the skirt steak , chicken, samosas appetizer, chocolate cake dessert...see photos attached ...well a photo cannot do the flavor justice. Needless to say my Hubby did a great job surprising me with this gem for our 19th wedding anniversary!
google avatar

Yelp
Decor is awesome. The plates are beautiful. Service not so. Lots of options for cocktails and liquor. Food is good. Baba ganush (eggplant) and curry are excellent. There is also a prix fixe menu.

Yelp
It seemed to be a typical night at this restaurant...despite the fact it was a Wednesday!!! We were immediately seated upon arrival, having reservations, which was nice. Our friends had visited one of the sister restaurants just the night before and received the same treatment, so it seemed they were on the right track. The place is beautifully attired, very much following the Amazon theme, but still comfortable. The open kitchen is interesting - especially to see all the meats and grilled veggies splayed out, making your mouth water as you head to dinner! And the kitchen is overwhelmingly staffed with chefs, sous chefs, etc... And the food kept up to your hopes. We stated with the Amazonica salad: a combination of avocado, mango and tomato in a light creamy dressing that was fantastic. Add in an appetizer of chorizos with potatoes - cooked to perfection - and you're good to go. Then we split up a couple of orders of the ribeye and the tenderloin, again cooked to perfection and deliciously seasoned!! A great meal all around. But let us get back to the service...where the restaurant deserves to lose at least one star. Not once did a waiter or maitre'd come to the table to see how our meal or service was, or if we needed anything more. One of my table mates asked for a glass of Cava three times, and finally gave up on it. And when a full cup of coffee spilt at the table, there was no reaction from the wait staff...apparently because no one from the wait staff was watching the table. And this behavior, as I noticed around me, was prevalent to all tables. It seems there may be a need for instructing the staff if they desire to reach the top. We'll go back no doubt, because the food was fantastic. And I'll keep my expectations of the service where it now is... unless they can prove me wrong...
