It seemed to be a typical night at this restaurant...despite the fact it was a Wednesday!!!
We were immediately seated upon arrival, having reservations, which was nice. Our friends had visited one of the sister restaurants just the night before and received the same treatment, so it seemed they were on the right track.
The place is beautifully attired, very much following the Amazon theme, but still comfortable. The open kitchen is interesting - especially to see all the meats and grilled veggies splayed out, making your mouth water as you head to dinner! And the kitchen is overwhelmingly staffed with chefs, sous chefs, etc...
And the food kept up to your hopes. We stated with the Amazonica salad: a combination of avocado, mango and tomato in a light creamy dressing that was fantastic. Add in an appetizer of chorizos with potatoes - cooked to perfection - and you're good to go. Then we split up a couple of orders of the ribeye and the tenderloin, again cooked to perfection and deliciously seasoned!! A great meal all around.
But let us get back to the service...where the restaurant deserves to lose at least one star. Not once did a waiter or maitre'd come to the table to see how our meal or service was, or if we needed anything more. One of my table mates asked for a glass of Cava three times, and finally gave up on it. And when a full cup of coffee spilt at the table, there was no reaction from the wait staff...apparently because no one from the wait staff was watching the table. And this behavior, as I noticed around me, was prevalent to all tables. It seems there may be a need for instructing the staff if they desire to reach the top.
We'll go back no doubt, because the food was fantastic. And I'll keep my expectations of the service where it now is... unless they can prove me wrong...
