Ambar Restaurante

A true gem inside the Plaza Hotel Pioneer Park! Ambar is a beautiful wood-fire Mexican cuisine restaurant that seamlessly blends culture, tradition, and fresh, authentic ingredients with modern presentation. Every dish we tried—from breakfast to dinner—was thoughtfully prepared, flavorful, and artfully presented. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they do, which made the whole experience even more special. We were staying at the Plaza Hotel and ended up returning to Ambar multiple times for breakfast, lunch, and dinner—it was that good! The atmosphere is inviting, the flavors are bold, and the attention to detail is outstanding. This restaurant was an absolute delight, and I would definitely come back again. Highly recommend!

This restaurant is a gem in Downtown El Paso. Drinks are fabulous and unique tasting. Pre-dinner roasted artichoke plate was outstanding. Even my grandsons were eating them. I had ravioli stuffed with lamb brussia. Better than the one I had in Italy. My son’s porterhouse melted in our mouths. Tender and juicy. My son in law got extra carnitas to share but I noticed he didn’t share much. I don’t blame him. I could rave all day about the other plates but will close with my birthday surprise from Ambar. They brought me a dessert that was cover by a glass dome. But the waiter said, “no, it is a sugar dome. You break it open.” Amazing. The whole family loved the dessert. Restaurant ambience is elegant and created fond memories I’m going back soon.

I went with my coworkers, and I have to say—the service was excellent, and the architecture of the building truly transports you. It feels like you’re dining in Mexico or some other exotic destination. However, I wouldn’t recommend the food. It was too sweet for my taste—even the enchiladas. It doesn’t quite capture the authentic flavor of real Mexican cuisine.

From the moment I booked the dinner reservation for our anniversary, Tanya was very kind and accommodating. Once we arrived the next day, Tanya was there to greet us as well as the rest of the crew and they were all very kind and very attentive. Their food is delicious, my wife had a salmon dinner and I had the duck. Overall it was a beautiful anniversary dinner experience.

Just had the most amazing dining experience at Ambar thanks to our fantastic server Natalie! She was super attentive and gave us great recommendations! Started off with the ambar ceviche and pulpo aguachiles, both were mouthwateringly delicious! For our main course, I ordered the ribeye ( medium) and even though it was a bit overcooked, I couldn't care less because it was still one of the best steaks I've ever tasted! And let's not forget about the desserts, Natalie suggested the Buñuelo trio and it was a total game changer! We also tried the fresas con crema Eclair and the abuelita a la mode, but the Buñuelos definitely stole the show! If you're looking for a great dining experience with amazing food and service, I highly recommend checking out Ambar and ask for Natalie as your server!

Pretty good food. Great service and ambiance. The vegan tamal dish was very delicious. I ordered the whole chicken and fries, chicken was alright. Fries were good. Nice place to come here for a fancy date or a cute get together with friends

We celebrated our anniversary on Valentines Day, we expected a busy night which it was but wow, the Amber team was on task with not just our table but they moved around like a wheel oiled machine. We had a great table with a view of the kitchen where we watched the culinary work in action, plates coming out with everyone of them being checked by the executive chef (Fernando) or chef. Our server Eileen was great and checked up on us just the right amount of times, she was also knowledgeable about the menu. The food was cooked perfect and the wine helped bring everything together. We started with the roasted Brussels sprouts and they were amazing, for our main plate we had the Ribeye and Salmon, two great choices. The live music in the background was perfect and the overall ambiance couldn’t be beat. I will for sure being having dinner there again. Thank you Ambar team for making our night so special.
