Went there twice. 1st time I visited the food was decent for me (not a consensus in the group). Service was good. 2nd time, for the Tuesday special menu, the onion bhaji was the best part of the meal (though a bit cold/ room temperature). The rest was subpar, especially the butter chicken. One of the worst I tasted. Surprisingly they have beef on the menu, and it was alright. Of the ones I visited, a rare indian/Pakistani restaurant that includes the rice with the meat/ main dish. If you're coming by car, parking will be hard to find as it's the case for most places in the area. Probably best to park further or use public transport.

The service is very good! It’s overpriced for all the food portion. The slow cooked beef and BBQ chicken are very dry and hard to chew. The naan are the best!

We showed up right at 5PM for their weekday happy hour deal: order any main and get 50% off appetizers and drinks. For real, that kind of deal in Montreal feels like a unicorn. Bonus? It’s BYOB! Bring your favorite bottle or try their mocktails—surprisingly bold and worth it. Mocktail highlights: 🍍 Ginger Pineapple Fusion – Bright, zesty, and just the right kick. 🥭 Mango Virgin Mojito – Sweet, tropical, and super refreshing. Perfect sidekick to all the spicy bites. What we ate (and loved): 🥟 Chana Samosa – My MVP appetizer. Think crispy samosas loaded with spiced chickpeas, yogurt, and tangy chutneys. Like Indian nachos, but better. 🫓 Keema Naan – Fluffy naan stuffed with spiced ground meat. Tasty, but I’d ask if they could make it spicy next time! 🫓 Cheese Naan – Fluffy naan with cheese inside 🫓 Garlic Naan – Delicious with the butter chicken 🤤 🍗 Chicken Pakoras – Crispy, juicy, would love a little hot sauce with it. 🥗 Paneer, Tomato & Mango Salad – Gorgeous and fresh but a bit mild flavor wise. Wanted a bit of crunch or spice to round it out. Main dishes = full flavor mode: 🍛 Butter Chicken – Creamy, rich, and total comfort food goals. 🍤 Shrimp Karahi – Light, flavorful, and packed with peppers and onions. 🍖 Lamb Biryani – Fragrant rice, tender lamb, and cozy spice. Everything you want in a biryani. 🔥 Mixed Grill Platter – All the tikka you could want—chicken, lamb, malai, and seekh kababs. Juicy and sizzling. Perfect for sharing (or not). Sweet ending: 🍮 Cardamom Crème Brûlée – Dreamy custard with a toasty caramel top and that warm cardamom hug. The vibe? Cozy, colorful, and full of personality. The staff handled our giant order and many questions with patience and smiles. This spot is perfect for date night, squad dinner, or spoiling yourself midweek. 💡 Foxy Tip: Bring a bottle, ask for extra spice if that’s your vibe, and don’t skip the chana samosa. — Visited as part of a social media collaboration. This review reflects my honest experience.

We stumbled upon Amber Restaurant when the nearby Japanese place was full — and we’re so glad we did! The dal makhni and chana masala were absolutely delicious, rich in flavor, and cooked to perfect desi style. The rice came topped with crispy fried onions, adding just the right crunch and depth of flavor — it totally blew my mind! We also got a bowl of onions on the house. Special compliments to Chef Ali and our wonderful hostess Hafza — their warmth and hospitality made the meal even better. I literally licked the dal makhni bowl clean, and my Punjabi husband said the chana tasted just like authentic North Indian chhole. We were so hungry, we didn’t even take a photo — that’s how good it was! 👉 Tip for future visitors: If you want that truly authentic Indian taste, just ask them to prepare the food desi style — they’ll happily do it. I hope you love it as much as we did! A total hidden gem. Highly recommended! 👌🍛

Ordered dinner to go in person. The location is easily accessible and tucked away from the high traffic areas. Their spicy sauce ambience is perfect for dinning with friends or family. The staff were polite and very pleasant. They provided recommendations on what to order. I ordered rice, naan and gobi. The naan was delicious.

Google
Absolutely exceptional Indian cuisine. The prices already include the tip which is a nice bonus (and kudos to the owners on that move). Not only is the food fantastic but the ambience of the place is both welcoming and higher end without feeling snobby. Just a fabulous experience all around. We’ve ordered butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, naan bread, samosas, kanda baji, and a chickpea salad. Every dish was better than the last and we had enough leftovers to last another 2 meals.

The food here is extraordinary, I came here originally 3 years ago and has the best Pakistani food of my life and I am Pakistani. Came back and nothing has changed. I live in Toronto and no place in Toronto beats it in my mind. I recommend it to anyone going to montreal. We met both the owner and head chef, both humble and amazing people. It will be my go to spot anytime I am in Montreal. We got the Tuesday Thali special, so well loaded and such a great price.

Delicious and friendly restaurant! We weren’t aware it was BYOB but the server directed us to a wine store just a couple of blocks away and it only took a few minutes to come back with some wine. The food was all excellent. The only nitpick is that our group is used to Indian food that’s spicier and we would have liked a bit more heat, but it was still delicious!

Yelp
It is a good Indian restaurant 7 min walking distance from mont-royal metro station. Food was tasty, well presented and the service was great. The inner environment was quite good.

Yelp
Yummy Indian in a beautiful space, very modern. Service was great and super friendly. Food was good but had zero spice - could have used at least a hint. The crème brûlée dessert however, was spectacular!

Yelp
Amber is certainly one of the nicer Indian restaurants I've been to. Clean, very nicely decorated, and overall a lovely ambiance. And you can bring your own wine, which is a great bonus! The menu is quite extensive, mainly focused on North Indian cuisine; and the prices and portions are quite reasonable. We had the tandoori chicken legs, karahi chicken, a couple of samosas and a garlic naan. If you enjoy Indian food, then you know how unique Indian dishes can be from one cook to another. Overall, the flavours were very good, especially the garlic naan. I do think all the dishes were a little under-seasoned - salt wise. Our server brought us some salt upon request, and a little sprinkle really helped liven up the dishes. Overall the spice/heat level is on the lower end of the spectrum, but still packs flavour. It seems like they opened up fairly recently, as the servers were still getting up to speed. Regardless, they were very friendly and accommodating! Can't wait to re-visit next time we are in Montreal,

Yelp
I like this place! First of all, it's BYOB and who doesn't like brining their favorite bottle of wine for dinner. The decor is super cute, it's nice enough for a date or a special occasion. The food is great and delicious, they have a lot of vegetarian and vegan options, as well as plenty of meat dishes. Friendly service so this one is a winner.

Yelp
Great food at a very reasonable price and very generous portions . We tried many different plates and none disappointed . The service was friendly and warm and the ambiance was real nice with great decor . The only downside was parking but you should be able to find it on St. Laurent . If u have an option to take metro or taxi/uber then take that option . Highly recommended.

Yelp
Pretty tasty Indian food. The butter chicken (4.5/5) was my favourite as it was creamy and the chicken was tender. The garlic naan (4/5) was aromatic but thicker than what I'm used to. The beef masala (3.5/5) was decent but a little spicy. The vegetable biryani (3/5) was alright but I'm not a big fan of raisins. The tandoori salmon (3/5) was okay as well but was slightly overcooked. The ambience was nice and the servers were friendly.

Yelp
Very good food - blends of spices are spot on - depth of flavour. Only critique: needs more heat - the dishes are served on the very mild scale. Naan bread is spot on. Chana Samosa hits all the notes. Butter Chicken made with base of cashews - authentic. The subtleness of the spices are where it's at here. Attentive service - friendly. Very clean - superb location - BYOB only.

Yelp
Great food, great value and portion size. Love the BYOB. Thomasos was as fantastic a server as you could ever hope for.
