Clothing was beautiful, staff was absurdly unkind. I asked a question about a piece that was placed near a sale rack, and the employee I asked proceeded to make fun of me for asking for more than 2 minutes strait. She just kept going. She laughed at me for asking about an item, and loudly made derogatory remarks regarding the fact I was shopping the on sale section. It was like my worst retail nightmare come true. I was in tears by the time she finished making fun of me and had to leave out of embarrassment and the fact that I didn’t want to support a business run by hateful people. Their merchandise is nice but I would recommend supporting somewhere that deserves support. Genuinely this is the worst retail experience I’ve ever had. She was just so mean and degrading.

Google
We stopped in the store to browse on a whim. We asked for help identifying the sale section of the store from who seemed to be a manager or owner. She proceeded to belittle my girlfriend for not knowing which section was which with their confusing signage. We will not be supporting a business ran by rude snobby people.

Very neighborhoody clothing shop! A great variety of Accessories! Staff will help you shop & find a perfect garment.

I’ve bought a few earrings in this store . Delicate , lightweight ones . Nice selection . Pretty relaxed vibe in store. (And I’m a senior)

Google
While it is at a great location, the store is not as good as it used to be. The selection is less attractive and stylish now, and the service is not as friendly and helpful as it used to be. I wish they had better clothing and accessories as I would love to shop there again!

Google
Cute clothes and helpful staff! Trendy and fun items. I’ve been here several times and often have to stop myself from going in when passing by because I always find something I like. They even have smaller products available for gifts like jewelry and socks. I love that their staff is always ready to jump in and act as your personal stylist. Nathalie was a huge help to me tonight when I came in looking for a pair of nice pants that I could wear to a work event. I did end up finding something that would work along with a dress for another event next month. The only thing is that I wish they had more selection in larger sizes. It was hard to find something even in my size XL so this place is not necessarily friendly to curvy women.

Great service and a great variety of casual and work clothes. You can find wonderful deals on the sale rack. And they steam the clothes after customers try them on for Covid safety!

Your window displays make me feel like Breakfast at Tiffany’s… but w a bagel in my right and boba on my left.

Yelp
I love Ambiance! The salespeople are friendly, and are really great about finding things that fit your style. They have a nice selection of elevated basics- like tops with ruching or batwing sleeves. I am always able to find something here, even when I am not looking for something in particular.

Yelp
Service was good. The sales lady brought a few dresses that I hadn't noticed, one of which I ended up buying. 2 stars for the horrible return policy of 7 days with a paper receipt. This is a deal breaker for me.

Yelp
I adore Ambiance - it's a treasure trove of stylish boutique finds in SF! I love their curated mix of high end brands and more affordable labels -you'll find designer denim and elevated staples right alongside fun, budget friendly pieces. Every team member was attentive, friendly, and genuinely excited to help. If that's not your thing, they respect you're a solo shopper and aren't pushy. I always find unique, conversation starter pieces here. Their dresses, outwear, and elevated basics are some of my go to's in my closet. Happy shopping!

Yelp
Read the negative reviews before ever coming here please. Everything is over priced and the staff are not welcoming at all.

Yelp
Horrible customer service cheap dropshipped products everything smells like plastic go anywhere else this place is a joke

Yelp
I've been shopping at Ambiance for some time now and love every piece I've bought from there. I switch between the Marina and Sunset shop and have noted the great service at both of them. Most recently, Dani (sp?) helped me with a return -- she was an absolute gem. I found her to be super patient and helpful, which led me to write this review. She didn't rush through the transaction just to get it done, but rather she talked to me throughout it making it a pretty positive experience. I also recently attended the "Queen" party here and I had a blast. My friend who had never been to Ambiance had a great time as well - I loved that they had the mini-massages, charcuterie and champagne for us! Honestly a 10/10 experience.

Yelp
I was in here yesterday for the first time since it changed hands. Wow, what an improvement! They have super cute accessories, including lots of fun things for cat lovers (cat purses, cat scarves. etc.). I bought a scarf and a small trinket for a friend's birthday, and asked for a box. The very sweet and friendly young woman put pretty floral stickers on the gift receipts, beautifully wrapped them in tissue and put them in a pretty gift box for me--no plain white box!--at no extra charge! I was stunned and tried to offer her a tip, but she wouldn't accept it. It's the kind of amazing customer service that disappeared from most stores decades ago. Thank you to the new owners of Ambiance; I'll be back soon!

Kat H.

Yelp
Convenient location. Packed store with some fun items and medium quality/priced clothing. Very helpful employees. Ridiculous return policy. Returns need to be in seven days with a paper receipt. Is it 1999? I understand they're an independent store, but the paper receipt in this day is inconvenient, archaic, no doubt a frustration to many customers. and represents a level of poor customer service, where I probably won't return! Also, their hours on listed online are different from what they told me in person. Yikes!

Yelp
Cute little boutique! Some of the items are a little pricey but you can find good deals in there during their sales and if you look hard enough. Great selection of jewelry and I've found some cute boots there as well. I love coming here to get a present for someone. The staff are able to wrap it up in tissue paper nicely for you during checkout. Service is good and the staff here is usually pretty attentive and helpful. Great little addition to the neighborhood!

Yelp
Wanted to like this store because I'm really into fashion and boutiques, but I bought a ring from them in January and it didn't even last 4 months! When I bought it, it was about $40 so I expected it to last awhile, like my other rings. Unfortunately, it snapped on me today. ++This leads me to believe that their jewelry/clothes are not good quality and seriously overpriced. Hopefully this is a one time thing!

Yelp
A cute store ! But the prices are RIDICULOUS!I've seen similar items if not the same at other stores way cheaper . I try to support small & local businesses but this ain't it ! I may as well go to Nordstrom or Saks I've walked in and they keep asking if I need help or need a fitting room .. once is cool.. but more than once is a no ! It makes me feel like I'm being followed !

Yelp
This is my first visit since the change of ownership, and I am really disappointed in the service. The two ladies working (not sure if they are the new owners) were not friendly. I had high hopes of buying a few new things for the spring to freshen up my wardrobe, and not once did anyone approach or greet me. One sales person walked around me several times and approached customers who already had clothes in their hands ready to try on. When I finally asked a question, the response I got was very aloof. Wow! I went into the store in such a good mood only to leave feeling very unwelcome. I did see things I liked, but the bigger department stores sell a lot of the same brands, so I will go that route. My family and I live in the neighborhood and used to come here all the time to support small business. The service here was Impeccable, and we always left happy. It's really sad to have people in the customer service field who can't treat their customers the same.

Yelp
Sandra helped me update my wardrobe with some fantastic pieces that I will be able to use with garments I already own, as well as add to. I love the new looks and it has inspired me to make my own new looks from my closet. I love the variety and quality of the prices I bought there! Thanks Sandra!

Yelp
Excellent service and very cute merch even though I didn't find what I was looking for the staff really tried and suggested other options. Very nice.

Yelp
TLDR? SCHEDULE A PERSONAL SHOPPING APPOINTMENT WITH SANDRA! I've been going to Ambiance since I moved to SF in 1999. It's always been the absolute best store for my last-minute or longer-term fashion needs. Recently, I made an actual appointment for personal shopping services with Sandra at the Irving location, something I've been meaning to do for years and I'm so glad I finally did! After this experience, I don't think I'll ever shop any other way again. Prior to my appointment, I'd worked with Sandra many times over the years at the Noe Valley store (now closed - booo!), and she always made the time for helping me on-the-fly by suggesting the best items for my body type, event, and budget. While the unplanned time I spent with Sandra was always great, having a personal shopping experience with her was a whole new world and I can't ever go back to my old ways. It was easy to schedule my appointment directly with her over text (I gave her my number when I was casually shopping for a spring dress the week prior). We met on a Wednesday when the store opened. Prior to the appointment, she asked what I was looking for. I said, "General theme upgraded basics. - shape, forgiving, soft, stretchy. Fitted pajamas that don't look like pajamas with style." Upon arrival, she had a full-blown capsule wardrobe waiting for me. Every single piece of clothing on my personal shopping rack matched what I was looking for and so much more. She picked styles, shapes, patterns, and colors I would have never chosen for myself and they all were perfect for me. All the items were mix and match and dozens of outfits were made out of the pieces. As I tried them on, she helped me style them with belts, layers, accessories, and my favorite, how to effectively half-tuck a shirt. At the end of the hour, I had dozens of pieces I wanted to buy but I had to stay within a budget which meant getting really ruthless and weeding out pieces I didn't "need" or were somewhat less than amazing than the others. It was hard because they all fit so well and looked so good . . . but it got easier because Sandra never pressured me to buy anything I was hesitant about, or simply needed to let go of because they were more expensive (1 pair of jeans vs 3 tops). She helped me to get critical about fit and make sure I wasn't buying multiple pieces for the same purpose. Her enthusiasm, fashion sense, relatability, style support, effectiveness, efficiency, and all-around great personality make her the ideal person to work with for special occasions or a wardrobe overhaul. I love the selection and quality at Ambiance and the service of the team, especially Sandra! I look forward to working with her again soon. PS. By scheduling an appointment, I got a $75 credit to use that day. Total bonus!! PPS. None of my outfits actually look like pajamas, they just feel amazing as if they were. :-)

Yelp
I wish a zero could be made since I purchased nothing. I might have had I not been told that "based on how I looked there was nothing there for me"! Wait, what? First of all Sandra (yes that's her name) I was speaking to my sister who came in for a white dress for an event. You chose to incorporate yourself into my conversation unasked. Now were you body shaming me by saying that? I do wear a 12/14? But is that your job? No it's not! Can you imagine if I told one of my clients that a menu they were looking at wasn't for them? I probably wouldn't own my very successful 12 years in business catering company if I did. Much like it wasn't your job either. So I'm back to body shaming, racism or both, which one are you? And I know you knew you were outta pocket because when I came back to ask for your name you began to explain yourself and apologize. Bitch Peas! I am so comfortable in my skin my husband lets me know daily, so you didn't hurt my feelings. What you did do though was expose your prejudice, very entitled azz to everyone. And now I will make sure that everyone else knows too. BTW I am born and raised here with a 30 year background in F&B in SF and Oakland so I'll make sure this makes the rounds. How sad for you! But all love I only came to get San Tungs anyway, my sister wanted to patronize you. Signed, The Chef that doesn't belong at Ambiance!

Yelp
So glad this place stayed open. We don't want any more shuttered storefronts in this city! Not to mention, the windows here are always inspiring. Even children enjoy looking at the quirky props and colors. Always a fun browse.

Mary S.

Yelp
So happy they didn't close! Our family loved the 24th street shop. Unique clothing, a cool boutique.

Becca S.

Yelp
Do not shop here! Just had the rudest interaction I've ever had with a sales associate. Spend your money somewhere where you won't be treated horribly.

Emily E.

Yelp
I've been shopping at ambiance since it basically opened! Since the pandemic and getting older my body has changed and I wish ambiance grew and changed with it. How can a boutique store employ plus size employees but not cater to plus size customers? No jackets above a large? Not even an XL? I want to spend my money but come on.... I think the owner herself is even plus size! More inclusive sizing please!!

Mollie H.

Yelp
This place is really cute and has a variety of options with different price ranges. My only complaint is that the sales associates hover over you which I find kind of annoying. It feels like they're either rushing you, thinking you're about to steal or want to convince you to spend more money.

K M.

Yelp
There aren't that many clothing stores in the neighborhood and I went to this store today to see what I can get to update my wardrobe. I'm not quite sure what to make of the customer service. Yes, I was greeted when I walked in - but then the salesperson kept returning to ask how I'm doing or if I am looking for anything in particular. Not sure if they were trying to be helpful to get a sale or if they thought I was going to steal something. As soon as it was noticed that I was holding onto a clothing item, someone comes over to offer to take the item for me and set up a room. I ended up buying this item plus some accessories, and it was only then that I get a smile from the employee. Not going to accuse anyone of anything, but also not the first time I've been to a store and it felt like I was being watched and profiled.

Yelp
I've been shopping at Ambiance for 14years but most recently the inner sunset location only once (i originally shopped in the now shuttered haight/ashbury location the previous 13 years). I'm a little bit older but that's why I'm giving five stars ---but now, i see now covid warrior put pressure on. you are being forced by people who dont even shop at your location--to create a woke, cold environment..... my review is about how no one's going TO WANT TO TRY CLOTHES ON IN A COLD STORE.........I went in on a day when it was around upper 40° out. The front door was SITTING WIDE OPEN (!?!?!?!) and so THE STORE TEMP WAS ALSO AROUND 50°. I said something about this to the worker--and she said that if the front door wasn't open, then people would not "know they were open"....uhhhh ok? It is also a fact that most people dont want to take off their clothes to try something ON---/---in a place that is around 55° or colder bc of common-sense and a huge huge body-shaking discomfort. So in essence, the management assumes that the patrons are so dumb that if the doors are LITERALLY, not open (bc they can't READ an open sign); then they are not open. Ha ha! So you're basically begging people to not shop there (and instead, shop online which I agree, is a wretched place). I just feel bad that this person who was a millennial, or even a little bit younger, thought it was OK to say ---that we leave the door open ---in the middle of winter time because, if we don't leave a door open, to the shop, the people that walk by don't think the place is open??????! that's pretty bad. To quote that millennial group--- that isn't even the young people anymore.... #Stupid

Yelp
Sometimes I change my outfit three to four times before leaving my place. Mostly due to the frustrating belt bulge situation. There is nothing more frustrating than putting on a pair of sweet jeans and an even sweeter shirt - hoping for a slammin' silhouette - only to be plagued by a bold belt buckle that announces itself proudly below a soft T-shirt. Without said belt, I find myself constantly having to hike up a pair of pants, which slide down in a most unflattering manner. An entirely frustrating situation. But after my visit to Ambiance last night - I believe that I have officially remedied the dreaded belt bulge problem. Firstly - thanks to the extremely helpful and personable staff at Ambiance - I came across a bangin' pair of stretchy skinny red jeans for fifty five dollars that stayed put on the waist and the hips. To ensure that said jeans would continue to rest on the waist without any help from cumbersome belts - I bought a small Jeans Fit It kit here. The kit includes a handy suspender-like contraption which you attach to your belt loops - cinching any pair of pants with subtle-like ease. No more big belts creating uncomfortable imprints on the stomachs. No more annoying bumps poking out from my favorite Paul Newman ware. Just a sleek looking pair of bright red pants. Now That's What's Up. Trust.

Yelp
Cute, stylish & local women's boutique in SF! Ambiance just opened its fourth location in the Inner Sunset neighborhood! They have stores scattered locally around the city at neighborhoods in the Marina, Haight, Noe Valley and now Inner Sunset! The Inner Sunset location is on the corner of 9th & Irving and across the street from Jamba Juice. Its also right off the N line - hop off and you are already in the store! Ambiance has an array of women's clothing, including tops, tunics, dresses (casual & party), denim, sweaters and jackets. They also sell many cute accessories, including jewelry, shoes, bags and scarfs. There are so many styles, designs and colors to choose from! The prices vary from affordable to mid-range and pricey - accommodating to all types of shoppers which is great! There is also a seating area for the guys to wait if necessary... Thank you for opening a store in my neighborhood!!

Yelp
I bought a pair of Seven for all Mankind Jeans here on Friday evening (6PM?) of September 8th 2017. The staff mostly ignored me (which was actually great, I hate pesky sales people) I tried on a handful of jeans, and I really ended up liking the pair of Sevens with slight distressing on the legs. The sales staff was actually nice and attentive to me once they realized I was trying on multiple pairs of "premium" jeans. There was no Ambiance price tag on the jeans, just the manufacturers price which was 199.00. Total with tax it came to $214 and some change. I paid Vanessa for the jeans, happy with the size and fit but not stoked that they were slightly distressed as I have had issues with distressed clothing in the past. I lamented to Vanessa that my boyfriend was going to flip if he knew how much I paid for them. She sympathized (as girls often do when their boyfriends find out how expensive it is to look cute for them!) She offered to cut the manufacturer price tag off- and I agreed knowing their return policy was so strict that they only offer store credit 100% of the time. And that's only if you have all tags attached and a receipt in hand within a certain amount of time. Well, I wore those jeans Friday night and they were great. I felt great. I felt comfortable. I ate a big German meal and sat through an almost three hour movie at Kabuki without feeling restrained or feeling like I needed to loosen a button. Saturday evening I went to pull the pants on and my second toe ripped through some of the distressing on the pant leg. I was crushed!! I hadn't even owned these jeans for a full 24 hours before they went awry. I called the store Sunday morning (10:45) when they opened to plea my case to a sales associate named Yvonne and she informed me that she had to speak to the manager and that I would receive a follow up call after 1:00 pm when the manager came in. The store manager didn't call me back personally, but I did get a call back from Yvonne informing me a store credit or return or exchange was all denied but that they would pay to have them repaired. I suppose this option is better than nothing at all but I'm still pretty disappointed that such a "high end" store couldn't do any better. I'm sad to have to wear a pair of "repaired" $214.00 pair of what they call "Premium" jeans after only owning them for about 24 hours. I hope they look okay when I get them back. I will follow up on my review when they are returned. *UPDATE* The owner reached out to me to apologize and gave me a full refund. I did like the stores options, they sell a lot of different brands with a lot of different price points and they have a pretty decent sales rack. My favorite brand in the world is Free People and they carry a bit of their merchandise and I will probably come back and spend my money here again knowing that the owner values her customers and her business.

Yelp
A good friend is a frequent shopper here. What they do well: service! These ladies know how to sell! They start a room for you right away and they are eager to offer you a new size and pull some of their own choices for you. I ended up buying one of the "surprises" a clerk picked out for me. If you are smart and disciplined, stick to the sale section. I didn't stick to that section and did have a little sticker shock.

Yelp
Super friendly staff, smaller store in comparison to the one on haight. Amazing place to shop. Seriously everything is so cute and they have an amazing sale section . Can be pricey but so worth it!

Yelp
Really low quality stuff esp for the price. Feels very scamming and unpleasant shopping experience

Yelp
I didn't really have a three star experience here, it was more like a 2, but since I am still a fan of Ambiance in general, I'll be nice. I was very excited for this new location to open, being that it's in walking distance to the park. I had blocked out some time yesterday to do some serious spring and summer shopping. Greeted as soon as I walked in and browsed the shoe section. It's a little cramped and hard to walk around and really take your time to look. As far as the clothing goes, I don't know if it's because it's a new store or in between shipments, but I really felt the selection was lacking as compared to other Ambiance locations. Super cramped (they all are, but this location seems to be the smallest) and super annoying when I am trying to look at a rack and there is a sales person trying to squeeze past me every 5 seconds. They need to learn to walk the long way around to get where they are going, so that they don't interupt customers looking at certain racks. They were friendly enough and offered help or to start a fitting room for you. However, overall it seemed kind of fake. One other lady in there mentioned her trip to Rome and it seemed like 4 of them then fawned all over, while for me, when I told the girl I was ready to try my selections on, she blew me off and didn't put my name in. When I went up to the rooms to ask if my name was on the list, it wasn't. I tried a few things on but nothing blew me away this time around and I walked out empty handed-VERY rare for a pre-planned trip. On the plus side, this location did seem to have items more color coordinated which was helpful, but eh-the spring/summer collection so far, leaves much to be desired. Maybe once they're open for a while, I will try back. For now I'll stick with the Haight or Noe Valley locations...

Yelp
The ladies that work at Ambiance are nice. And this store definitely has some cute finds. It's a little bit pricey for me, but if I wanted something special, I'd come here.
google avatar

K Y.

Yelp
My sister took me here the other day. Definitely saw some cute pieces. A bit pricey, but definitely not super expensive. The associates were more than friendly and helpful. I wasn't the best dressed in the store - gym leggings and a long sleeve. The store is at the corner, so you definitely can't miss it. A rack or two in the front to draw you into the store. Sale items and the dressing rooms are in the back. I tried on a few pieces. Some looked better on the hanger, but I did buy a top that I didn't think would look good. Surprise! The cashier was very friendly and kindly asked if I wanted to join their mailing list. I declined without her pressuring me like most stores. Definitely a go to spot before or after you grab a bite to eat down Irving!

Yelp
I'm rating this store because of a wonderful employee that helped me so diligently. Her name is Rowen.. ask for her and you won't be sorry! This young lady gave me old school attention as if I was in Lord & Taylor's! I told her the occasion I was dressing for and she started a dressing room for me. When I was trying clothes on she brought me outfits..,yes .. whole outfits based on what I was looking at twice when I was browsing! OMG!! Such courtesy and attention to detail! And absolutely not overly anything. She was eager to help but gave me lots of room. I can see her going way above and beyond her role here.. catch her while you can! Ask for Rowen!!!

Yelp
I hate writing bad reviews. I especially hate writing bad reviews for small businesses. Strolled in here on a Monday, late afternoon. I figured this would be a good time since most people are just leaving work now, and the store would not be as busy, making it easier to browse around. Downhill experience from here on out... -NO ONE greeted when I walked in. Two employees were in the front as well and definitely was not helping another customer. -This specific store is extremely crammed. I'm not sure about the other Ambiance locations, but it is super difficult to browse through the items when they are extremely packed on one rack. I'm at a boutique store, not a department store... -No one asked if I needed anything, or asked for any extra assistance. I had to ask one of the girls for a specific size on one of the items and her attitude was just down right awful (pretty sure she was the manager as well....get off your high horse lady) -The only person who did help was the fitting room employee. The one star goes to her... -The bad: Do not judge me from what I am wearing. I noticed a couple of the employees were staring at me as If I just woke up or never took a shower and whispered to one another. Its a Monday. Its my day off. My hair is wrapped in a messy bun and I'm wearing my casual clothes. I have every right to look like a bum. Sorry I'm not all posh and squeaky clean like you. If retail employees received tips, this is the part where you would get $0 from me. Ambiance really does have great/cute items. But their customer service needs a huge adjustment. I get it stuck up employees, your all busy putting clothes away, but it doesn't hurt to smile or say hello to customers who's supporting your job. I love supporting small businesses, but unfortunately Ambiance is a no go for me, I'll stick to Therapy instead...

Yelp
Ambiance is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Their clothes are inexpensive and fun, and the staff is REALLY helpful....whether you're agonizing over a $20 purchase or a $100 one, they will patiently guide you along. Pretty refreshing in these days of retail hell. Since they carry shoes, belts, hats and other accessories, they're really the only one stop shop for miles around.

Yelp
A huge Thank You to my fellow Yelper Jessica T! I saw her review and did a double take Irving St; Ambiance; No way? It's true, I could not believe it so after work I took the N and went by one of my favorite local boutiques. I was in awe had not shop in a while and in need of something cute, affordable and spring like. All of this warm weather inspired me to shop and I did:) First, small store but they sure fit clothes, shoes and handbags in small spaces wow. Yes, My Ambiance peep thought I was on one, no just my ADHD kicking in. I did a initial scan of the place and I was like a Tasmanian devil (without leaving behind a disaster). I was all over the place looking for skirts, shirts and dresses. I calmed down and went to work; she was really patient and trying to get a sense of the items I was looking for. Great prices, I mean you could go low or high (prices). This is what I love about Ambiance; variation of prices, sizes and styles. I came out with a beautiful day to night skirt in teal, black skirt for work, beige blouse and a dress with the cutest brown skinny belt. So on behalf of my wallet Thank You!

Yelp
This is a great store with excellent customer service! I am very impressed by the staff at this location. Angela, the manager, is extremely professional and runs a very well oiled machine. You can tell she provides strong leadership because her staff works as a team--assisting each other without hesitation and working together as a cohesive unit. I purchased a dress at the store and when I returned to LA the same day, I realized I had the wrong size. The problem was: I intended to wear the dress to a wedding 7 days later. I called Ambiance and Anna answered. She remembered me from the day before and was able to negotiate a solution to my problem. Long story short, I was able to get the correct size, return the ill-fitting dress, and obtain a discount without much stress at all. This store is on point with their styles and, most importantly, customer service.

I am giving 5 stars to the employees! They are helpful and friendly! I bought few dresses from this location and I stroll this store often as I work nearby and it's on my way home. The more I come here and the more I browse around I found that Ambiance is nothing like expensive store sells cheap clothes made in China, Philippine and other country. Some of the clothes are really over priced. For the shoes collections they have fair prices but the clothes?? I feel the materials and the sizing are a bit off too, cheap material blouse for $55??? Cheap dresses for $75 and above??! Come on! The jewelry are nothing special either just over priced! Hand bags are over priced and for $100 unlabeled handbag I could get 1 Longchamp at Nordstrom! Unless someone buying me gift certificate I will not come back and shop here anymore.

Yelp
I was pretty nervous entering the boutique, because it's been months since I went shopping for myself, after having my baby. I've gained massive weight, and was hoping to find something, that looked good on my "preggy body" that unfortunately, 4 months later, I still had. *UGH* As soon as I walked in, they greeted their customers with a smile, and already made me feel comfortable. So as I'm browsing around, out of nowhere a really nice, and friendly chick came over and asked if she could help me look for something..At first I said no, but I was honestly rushing, to get back to my baby in the car, since parking was a PAIN...My husband was just driving around the neighborhood while I shopped. I went back to her and told her I needed to find a dress for my daughter's baptism. Something with "easy access" because I was nursing her, just incase, I could just pop 'em out and voila! Simple as that, I could feed her, but still look/feel like a gorgeous mom all at the same time. She grabbed at least 10 items that I really liked, tried em on, and *LUCKILY* I found one that suited my body type. *Phew!* Halfway trying on the other clothes, I had to check up on my baby in the car, and they were kind enough to save my fitting room for me. When I came back, my fitting room was still there, waiting for me which I very much appreciated. (Worried, they put all the clothes on the rack, and gave the fitting room to someone else to occupy, but they didn't.) It is really hard to find clothes that compliment and look great on me, but this store had it ALL. From the colors, styles, textures, long, short, all kinds, within your price range, and the shoes! I regret not buying a pair for my outfit, but it looks like I'm gunna have to go back there, and buy em too. I was very pleased, and felt confident again. I haven't felt that way, in a long time, until I came to Ambiance. Thanks to Angela, for helping me out! She even talked me into getting my first pair of SPANX. It's about time, I invested in em...I sooo needed it, considering I had a big ol flabby tummy hanging out, due to my horrific C-section. loll...In summation, I came out feeling good, excellent customer service, & I would definitely come back here again. Parking is a pain though, but I came on a weekend, so that's to be expected.

Yelp
I just wanted to say, much thanks to the wonderful girls at Ambiance, who helped assist me with trying on a bunch of dresses and shirts in the store, for several hours today! I had usually gone to the Noe Valley location but decided to check out the one on Irving. I'm so happy I did, because they have a wide selection of clothing, accessories and shoes. I tried on so many nice things today, unfortunately, due to my budget decided to get what would be most practical. I'm real glad the girls picked up on my style and even offered me new looks to try. Their great with helping you accessorize an outfit or simply put one together. I ended up walking away with a real cute peach heart print tunic (as seen on Modcloth but keeps going out of stock) and a really stylish and comfortable pair of nude t-straps by Chelsea Crew. Overall, I love that they have a price point for pretty much any budget and there's always something for everyone here! Thanks again for the wonderful experience and I'll definitely be back again once I've replenished my funds!

Yelp
I got some Xmas shopping done here the Sunday before the big day. 2 scarves, 1 bracelet, necklace, and a pair of earrings for about $110 bucks. Not bad. Little did I know that my friend shops for his girlfriend and her sister at this boutique. I stopped by here with a lady so I could get a trusted opinion and was advised that scarves are a safe bet. When I had already paid I noticed that they also sell mittens that I would consider in the future. This place is definitely affordable and wasn't too busy, which is what I was looking for. I wanted to avoid any and all malls. To put a cherry on top, they wrapped the gifts separately for me and labeled M, G, and S for mom, grandma, and sister on the bottom to differentiate. They were also helpful explaining the materials that they were made out of. A safe haven from the rain, I will definitely return here. I am tempted to give 5 stars. I will upgrade the rating if my second trip is as enjoyable as the first.

Yelp
What can I say? OMG, what a little gem! I live in the neighborhood (Sunset) & I've heard about the store (how good it is) many times...Always drive/walk by and have never walked inside (always rushing somewhere)... But today, I was waiting for a friend to arrive & I had just 15 min to check out the place. And what a surprise...I found a neighborhood gem! So, they have a lot of stuff-clothes, shoes, jewelry & accessories ... I realized I need more time to explore & have to come back!Anyway, I still managed to find very beautiful & unusual, but unexpectedly affordable cuff bracelet that I had to have & this little thing made me happy :) I'm def coming back soon to discover more treasures. Thank you, guys!

Yelp
Super helpful staff. This is the best Ambiance store in SF. Admittedly, I haven't been to other locations in a while so I am not sure if things have changed, but at the 9th/Irving location the staff members are attentive, make great pairing suggestions, are honest with their feedback (if it looks bad, they WILL tell you so), and overall just seem genuinely happy to be there (even if they've been on their feet for hours hunting for the right dress for your friend's wedding, finding your size, or looking for great alternatives based on your preferences). I left spending way more than I was planning to (and I'm happy when I leave)...that's good business, right? The buyer(s) and the "Ladies" know(s) the clientele in this neighborhood*. *I liked the selection at other locations too, however this one really sings to me. Whatever they are doing here, they're doing it right.

Yelp
A range of mid to high end priced clothing coupled with borderline overbearing service. I popped into Ambiance for the first time, and not really knowing what to expect, here's what I got: - Damn near claustrophobia with closely crammed clothing racks (definitely NOT wheelchair accessible) - Mix match assortment of clothing (no organization that I could decipher) - Sprinkles of mainstream name brands (French Connection, Trina Turk) - For the non-name brand merchandise, mediocre quality at prices double what they should be - Super attentive service, but a bit excessive, with someone popping up to offer a fitting room everytime I had a single garment in hand Despite my grumblings, I admittedly did walk out with one overpriced top. However, I will not be back.

Yelp
I have always loved Ambience. I was given a gift certificate for Christmas and a super cute necklace. It took me awhile to cash it in, but stopped in on Saturday and found lots of cute garments that worked for my figure. You should not be in a rush because they have tons of different options to choose from. I was hiking in the park and came on jeans a t- short and hiking shoes and no makeup and the customer service was just as good as it was to the more fashionable shoppers. Wether it is true or not, the sales people seem to really enjoy putting looks together for people. I ended up with two dresses for 100.00 one on sale and one full price. That being said, I used to manage and was a buyer for a boutique on Union Street. Ambiance has their business model DOWN. From product to approach to decor and curb appeal. Xo!

Yelp
Update** Although this experience wasn't amazing Donna and the team really stepped up with customer service. I feel so happy that Donna reached out to me personally. Such a classy thing to do! Ambiance, you really are a great place the way you handled the situation. :)

Yelp
This is my favorite Ambiance location because it's closer to me and the customer service is great. I was looking for some jeans, and Jennifer helped me picked out some brands I had not tried in a long time. I prefer Paige, but I decided it was time to branch out since their denim can be really expensive. Jennifer had me try on Sevens and Joe's. Her eye for denim was so good that almost every pair she picked for me looked great (which, I am telling you, NEVER happens to me!) and it was hard for me to pick between the 2 I really liked. Allison was in the dressing room came to rescue since I couldn't decide and was sitting in the dressing room for 10 minutes looking at the pairs of jeans! Thanks to Jennifer and Allison, I was able to painlessly buy some jeans. That is no small feat, ladies, you know all too well! And if almost every pair looked good, that should tell you something about the jeans and styles they stock.

Yelp
Totally indulgent and splurge-worthy. A one stop shop to put together a few outfits before a quick weekend getaway, or just to give into your inner shopaholic...YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. You can build your seasonal wardrobe up from here without feeling like you spent too much at a high end department store. I love this place and I am terrible because I've never once walked in and not left without buying something. Thank you ladies at the Irving St location, I do enjoy stopping in after my bi-monthly mani/pedi from around the corner.
