Raw pizza with unbelievably horrible and stupid customer service! Though we've been ordering pizza from Ameci's for 2 decades, our experience with the restaurant tonight was awful enough to end this relationship. We ordered a jumbo and a medium 2 topping pizza, which my husband picked up. Both pizzas looked fine superficially, but when each of us bit into our slices, we realized that the dough for both pies was raw in the middle (gummy). They were inedible not only because of the taste and off-putting texture but for safety reasons as well.
By way of background, I do understand that mistakes happen, and this one would have been forgivable had the owner (manager?) responded reasonably when I called to let them know what happened. I was friendly and matter-of-fact in my tone, expecting that Ameci's would want to know if there was a problem. I hadn't even suggested that they remedy the situation before the person I spoke with started to deny responsibility and attack my integrity. He first insisted that there was no way this could happen, refuting each of my attempts to explain specifically how we knew the dough was undercooked. After going in circles, he confusingly claimed that the issue was my husband picking the order up 45 minutes late. I asked him how sitting around for this extra time could cause the pizza to be cooked less (as if the cooking process starts to reverse itself after the pick up time passes).
Frustratingly, the owner/manager then started implying I wasn't being truthful. I told him we've been regulars for 20 years, and I've never complained. He said, "yes, I know you are long time customers; I know your husband." I asked why he thinks I would lie about my experience after all this time. He confirmed that he had been accusing me of lying, telling me that it's my word against this. Just wow!! Businesses that treat longstanding customers with this kind of suspicion and hostility shouldn't prosper.
