I've been to Idylwild for the past two weekends and a few times last month and tried several places This is the only pane I've felt that I absolutely need to return to. Her pastries are so perfectly made. She knows how to bake without being overly sweet. Her apple fritters are fried to perfection and the apples inside taste fresh. If you're looking for real pastries, not the typical super sweet everyday stuff, this is the place to go. The owner is so nice and welcoming. I just love it here and I will honestly return everytime I'm here or probably just take a drive up here just for this bakery!!!!

Been going to Amelia’s Donuts since they only sold donuts — their expansion has been so well done. The steak breakfast burrito is incredible, and the glazed donut is still absolute perfection. Love seeing them level up 🙌🍩🌯

My sister has lived in Idyllwild for almost 2 years and I have yet to experience the delicious cinnamon rolls UNTIL this morning. I’m visiting from San Diego and these are by far the best cinnamon rolls and fritters I have ever had. Amelia is thee kindest, warmest person and makes this bakery feel like a home. So happy to be the reason you are sold out this morning. Thank you for the best end of our meteor shower weekend.

We SO appreciate Amelia's Donuts whenever we visit Idyllwild. By text, we pre-ordered some donuts and asked that they be carefully put into a box so that we could gift them to our friends. The donuts looked great, and our friends were very pleased, (as were we of course!) ---donuts were completely delicious.....the apple fritters in particular are quite spectacular. Remember, the earlier in the day you go, the more selection there is ...and the fresher these homemade donuts are!

After checking the reviews we decided to go here for breakfast. We had the breakfast burrito which I think it was better than the donuts. Te donuts tasted cold and dry definitely not fresh. And coffee was mediocre, noting special from a machine. This place is expensive for what it was.

Amazing donuts! Fluffy and delicious_ many choices! I got the carrot cake muffin which is the bomb! I cant even explain how many little treats seem to be inside, carrot pineapple raisins with the best frosting. Go get it now. They have vegan and gluten free choices too! Coffee is very good

Best donuts I’ve ever had. First time coming here today. Amelia is such a nice and hospitable owner. Try the Maple Buttermilk donut!!! You won’t regret it! Also tried a vegan chocolate donut and it was also VERY GOOD!

Warm and friendly atmosphere. The kindest owner. The BEST donuts. Not too sweet with tons of flavor!! We make it a point to come here whenever we visit idyllwild.

WARNING: Will ruin all other apple fritters for you and you'll be coming back for more! I average about 3 or 4 apple fritters a month (with my doctor's approval, of course!), so I consider myself something of an expert. But I have a major problem now: Amelia's has officially ruined all other donuts for me. While I know many locals come here for the cinnamon rolls or burritos, the Apple Fritter is the real hidden gem. The husband (Jim) has a well-guarded secret recipe, and it shows. Unlike the mass-produced stuff I get back home, Jim and Amelia (the nicest couple you'll want to meet to start your day) use real apples and they are incredibly fresh. The fritter is soft, the topping delightfully sweet (I'm sure my doctor would approve) but not overpowering, and baked with a perfectly tender interior. It left me with the feeling I had the sweet taste of kindness to start my day. Why go to Starbucks to order a Grande from a snarky barista, when you can get coffee here that complements the fritter, warms the morning, and leaves you with a residual happiness-buzz for a great day of adventure? It's the best way to begin the day after enjoying the early morning stars and nature's goodness. I'll never have another apple fritter back home again. If you are in Idyllwild, do not skip this experience and brighten your morning (I'm sure your doctor will approve). :)

What a wonderful bakery! We went at around 8 in the morning and seemed to bring the crowds as it got busy after us. Amelia helped us pick out a dozen donuts and was very kind and patient. She has a passion that you just feel when talking to her. All the pastries in the case looked delicious but let me tell you: that sticky bun was incredible. Over the next couple of days I had a maple and glaze -- both equally delicious and fresh tasting days later. They also have a to go case with breakfast burritos, as well as a bunch of pies (on Fridays for the weekend, per Amelia) that you can grab and go. There's a crumble pumpkin pie that I'll be getting next time I'm in Idyllwild, which a gentleman dining in said was "to die for". Super cute building as well with some seating inside. Looking forward to visiting again for more than a pick up donut order!

The maple donut is everything. They make their own maple syrup in house and it is beyond delicious. I would eat this a million times. The coffee on the other hand is a miss. It comes from a machine, and it tastes like it. The flavor is flat, and it's just a run of the mill coffee. The price for the coffee is relatively low- around $5 for a latte- so that's pretty fair. It's clean inside, a good place to duck out of the cold for a bit. It's on the smaller side but it fits a good deal of people and chairs rotate open relatively quickly. The lady behind the counter knows everyone and is very friendly.

Advertised other milks but the coffee is from an automated machine so couldn't change to oat milk. Grab and go sandwich- I couldn't order the one I wanted. The one I got had bacon that was flavorless and pale, and the English muffin was soggy. Traditional glazed donut was cakey in texture and glaze had an unpleasant after taste I can't describe and oily. Ambiance was pretty neutral, not particularly friendly. Overall felt like a 'just for elder locals' spot and didn't like the food.

I love Amelia's! My boyfriend and I recently moved to Idyllwild and love a sweet treat. Her pies are delicious and so are the almond croissants. They taste just like my grandmas. Amelia is very sweet and always welcoming! Cozy atmosphere.

Picked up a pink glazed donut and maple donut after breakfast. I loved my maple donut, it was more of a old fashioned texture. My husband liked his pink glazed donut but said it was not anything special. Service is friendly and feels very small town in here. Family like vibes and welcoming ambiance. We took our donuts across the street to eat with our coffee.

The best! First, LOVE the owners. They're the absolute nicest people ever. They take so much pride in Amelia's. Secondly, the doughnuts! Have one or buy a dozen for family and friends. No one will be disappointed. Lastly, tasty sandwiches at a very reasonable price. If you're in Idyllwild, Amelia's is a must!!!

So delicious, so friendly, so cozy a great place to stop in and get some local pastries and other Idyllwild local crafted food stuff. Glad I came!

Stopped by for a donut and was blown away. The employees told me their pastries were a 10, and they weren't lying. Knocked it out of the park and then some Donut and Carrot cake muffin were moist and not too sweet. Coffee was excellent. One of the best donuts/muffins I've ever had!

Like we needed another reason to return to Idyllwild... Amelia's is truly a gem. The absolutely adorable, cozy atmosphere is filled with treasures: gift baskets, jam and the personal story of Amelia and her husband which is so personally inspiring. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. You can taste the love that is poured in each and every delicious item. We were there two days and had: The old fashioned, almond croissant, the scone, chocolate chip cookie, carrot cake (award winning) coconut and apple pies (MUST GET if she has it!) Tomato basil soup and the fresh coffee. Everything was so delicious and hearing that Amelia and her husband start every day at 1am to cater these delectable treats, shows the dedication and commitment they have for the community. 11/10 recommend, we'll be back!

Spent the weekend up here and was looking for quick and reasonable breakfast options. Looked around and decided on Amelia's. They have breakfast burritos in different meat opts (bacon, sausage, chorizo, meatlovers) ready to go in thier heated Grab and Go case. We got the chorizo and bacon, and both were very good. Come early as at 815am they had like 6 left. Very welcoming staff and customers here. Seating inside as well as a covered area on the outside. Take in the mountain views as you eat your breakfast. They also do coffee and donuts as well. Nice charming small business.

She gave me attitude for asking for extra sauce for a burrito even though I gave a 3 dollar tip on a 25 dollar order. Do better

Stopped by on our way out of Idyllwild. This is a cute and small family ran place. Upon choosing our donuts we asked the woman which her favorite was and she comically said she couldn't decide as she's been making them since she was 15! You can tell they make these fresh by hand. They were deep fried goodness. For the sweet tooth highly recommend the maple glazed and the cinnamon sugar. They also have grab and go breakfast items. There are a few parking spots out front which makes grabbing and go-ing easy!

We stopped by to get donuts before we left Idyllwild. We got the apple fritter and maple bacon bar. The apple fritter was the favorite among the two. They were both a bit greasy though. When we went around 11, almost everything was sold out so go early! I heard the gluten-free ones are good!

A must try if you visit Idyllwild! We stopped in for donuts and coffee on both days during our weekend getaway trip. The cutest shop and Amelia is so friendly. There is a great variety of donuts, pastries and pies to choose from. We will be back on our next visit for sure!

Nice little local coffee shop came in and got a nice gluten-free doughnut, cinnamon sugar tasty and hit the spot with a nice ice cold coffee. Enjoyed it on the front porch.

First time at this establishment. I only wanted a snack for my son but the pies looked amazing. Bought the raspberry peach mango pie. As I eat my third serving today, my wife and I agree this is one of the best pies we have ever eaten. It's delicious.

This is the first time I've had a buttermilk donut that is not super dense like a cake donut. I really appreciated the non-dense texture and the crunch of the outside. The donut was still warm and it's a delightful way to start the day on a chilly 40° morning! Thanks Amelia!

Incredible donuts especially when warm. I remember taking a bite of the glazed and thinking I like it better than Krispy Kreme. The old fashioned and apple fritter were also amazing. This is probably the first stop you have to make of the day as soon as you wake up because when I went around 9:30 AM, they were out of a lot of things. The breakfast burritos are also made in batches, so if there aren't any in the warmer, you might not be able to get one. I was able to snag a fresh breakfast burrito albeit with no meat like I wanted but it was really hearty and filling. Good coffee too. It's a small space that can handle like 8 people with a few chairs outside so probably better to go as one large party can really fill the space. One man in the kitchen and one lady (I presume Amelia?) behind the counter who both have a lot to do but put a lot of heart and soul in what they put out.

I ordered a apple fritter from Amelia's Donuts and was very disappointed By the time I got to my car I noticed that the bottom of the bag was soaked in oil. By far the worst donut I have ever had. The owner must of been having a bad day as well. Not the nicest greeting I've had. For ever disappointed.

We love this little business with its cozy atmosphere and quick service. We eat here 2-3 times a week and we recommend the breakfast burritos and the maple donuts.

What a pleasant surprise! For all my fellow savory treat / snack lovers, Amelia's has something for us! To my delight I found a couple savory options for sale alongside the sweets that they are famous for. I happened to catch them right before closing so we missed out on the Lentil Soup special of the day and apparently they also have sourdough bread that they bake in house. Turkey Pesto Croissant: 4 stars! Delicious, buttery croissant with turkey slices, swiss cheese and just the right amount of pesto sauce throughout. Very good and I can't wait to try their ham and cheddar croissant. Of the many times I have passed by Amelia's, I had no idea that they offered a few savory items. I'll have to come back in the morning when they are fully stocked next time! Also, I saw quite a few whole pies for sale that looked delicious. I can't think of an occasion at the moment that would prompt me to buy a whole pie, but you bet I'll have to start thinking of one soon as it looks like their pies are baked with seasonal berries/fruits. I wish I had discovered this place sooner! Service/Ambiance: 5 stars! Lovely owners working the counter and a very cozy, small town vibe! The absolute worst donuts we've ever had...the lady who owns this vile shop is a liar it is not all from scratch. The ambiance is ugly and cold.

So quaint and friendly.... Love the local vibe of a mom and pop business. Their was a line and it was worth the wait, we lucked out and got two of the breakfast burritos the sausage and the cheese and egg....so good. And when I mean we lucked out we did they can only make two at a time and they aren't a made to order they are in a grab and go case. The donuts and danish tasty and fresh too and the hot vanilla cocoa and iced latte really hit the spot. They are extremely dog friendly and were giving fresh bowls of water to the dogs coming in.

Oof just got the apple fritter here but based on just that item alone, I can already tell everything else here should be delicious! It's actually my first time eating an apple fritter and oh my was it heavenly! Full of apples, moist and the perfect amount of sweetness. I would definitely come back and try the other items. This place is a small bakery but also sells food items for breakfast and lunch. Small mom and pop shop as expected in this little town!

Some of the best donuts have ever had maple is my favorite and by far the best carrot cake I have ever had amazing and the service is just astounding. A must stop if you're in Idyllwild.

We did not get donuts here, but the sausage breakfast burrito and the turkey swiss croissant was amazing. Both items were very generous sizing and we were stuffed! We came early in the morning around 7am and the croissant was still warm. The burrito has crispy edges and chunks of hash brown inside. The owner did say the burritos sell out quickly so come early for this deliciousness!

This is a cute little spot in Idyllwild for a donut or cup of coffee. The owner is so friendly and sweet and her donuts are delicious! I had a buttermilk sprinkle chocolate donut and I took a carrot cake home. My donut was warm too, which made it even better. They have options for gluten free and even a keto donut. Great job having options for everyone!

I have to admit to being a bit disappointed with Amelia's donuts. I stopped in around 11am and found the selection to be waning. Not surprising since they open at 7am and seem to be quite popular. I selected three - a buttermilk chocolate, an old fashioned, and a sticky bun. The sticky bun was excellent. Moist, tasty and...sticky. The candied pecans on the sticky bun made it even more enjoyable. The old fashioned was terrible, worst I've ever had. This is my go-to selection at any donut shop I visit. It was dry, very dense, and the glaze was minimal and not very sweet. The buttermilk chocolate was moist with a good chocolate coating on top. I didn't care much for the bland cake of the donut itself though. Prices vary depending on the donut but expect "gourmet donut" pricing. Also, if you use a card to pay, there is a fee (mine was $1.28 for using a credit card).

Amazing donuts traditional glaze chocolate glaze melts in your mouth so fresh amazingly great! Service is amazing !!! Great atmosphere great people. Highly recommend.

My wife and I have been here a few times, and have tried the breakfast sandwiches and burritos which are great, but for some reason never tried any of the donuts until today. We split a buttermilk glazed and when I say this is the best donut I've ever had, there is no exaggeration. The texture reminded me of a non-greasy funnel cake almost, with a light crisp on the outside and an airy and fluffy interior. After finishing the donut, we immediately walked back to get back in line and order several more. When we told the proprietor how amazing it was upon our return, the smile on her face was that of someone that was nothing short of gracious and proud that their hard work is appreciated. This will continue being the first stop on our bi-weekly Idyllwild visits, and we can't wait to return.

The food is amazing, I had the double cheeseburger combo with onion rings. The owner was very nice and the food only took about 10 minutes to come out. The onion rings are amazing with good flavor a real good portion. The double cheeseburger is very good everything about it was just great. The place is super cozy and clean, very welcoming.

What a gem! We got a few donuts and coffee to take on a picnic hike. My husband got the ham and cheese croissant and I got the maple old fashioned. It was the best old fashion I had in my life. So crunchy and the frosting was great. Can't wait to go back for another visit. Such friendly service too and a great atmosphere!

Donuts were incredible. Has the apple fritter and it was practically life changing. My partner and I discussed maybe driving up to just get some donuts and come back home (OC), that's how much we loved it. The others were quite incredible, too (sugar buttermilk, brown sugar buttermilk, and carrot cake muffin). That said, the service was lacking. I understand it's a small mountain town so labor isn't readily available so I'm not giving any marks against it so much as just trying to give guests a heads up. We waited at least 15 minutes to be served due to a long line and only one person helping guests. And once we were served it was a hurried no-words-exchanged-from-staff-just-shove-donuts-into-the-bag-as-you-point-and-say-what-you-want. I don't need a smile or a good morning, but ordering at a kiosk would have felt like better service.

My daughter and I wanted a cup of coffee and began to park our car into a parking space that said " Customers Only". The owner put a no parking sign in the space as we were parking. I got out to find out what the problem was. She stated they were closing in 10 minutes in a stern, unfriendly voice. Her husband added he had to unload something. There is a loading zone in the back of their store. The woman kept going on and on and I asked her to please stop. We have a cabin here and all the business owners and employees are friendly. This is a tourist town, after all. I will NEVER frequent this place. One of the the business owners down the street said the owner is unfriendly and complains about the holiday crowds. Can't wait to try the new bakery opening in two weeks.

VEGAN DELICIOUS!! My wife and I have been plant based/vegan for 10 years. In that time we have tried massive amounts of muffins, donuts, pies, cakes, etc. Some better than others... but none... NONE compare to the vegan blueberry muffins and vegan chocolate donuts here at Amelia's! They are perfect : fluffy, airy, not dense or oily like most of the others we have tried over the years. Both Amelia and her husband Jim couldn't be kinder, nicer and more appreciative of our patronage. We even arrived early and waited for them to open to ensure that we were able to get our muffins and donuts as they sell out super fast! In this day and age where most bakeries get their products shipped in, this lovely couple wake up when most people are going to bed to bake their delicious goods from scratch and have them ready and waiting for the 7 am opening!! Old School never tasted so good!

GLUTEN FREE DONUTS (THAT TASTE AMAZING)! as a person with celiac disease i'm always on the hunt for gluten free goodies and Amelia's did NOT disappoint! i came back two days in a row for the chocolate donut kudos for super friendly, welcoming service!

Amelia's Cafe is a favorite of the locals here in Idyllwild. I am myself addicted to the cinnamon rolls and sticky buns. A lot of things sellout during the day so best to get there early if you can. I also like the cheese danish a lot, it has a hint of lemon which is really nice. The muffins and donuts are delicious and unique. You can tell everything is made with love and the owners are super nice. They have a great lunch menu as well, with a in n out style burger at a very good price. In the wintertime they offer soups and they are the most dog friendly establishment I have ever been to!

This place is nice and cozy. Quick bites, great staff who remember you and greet you with warm hello's. Not just a donut shop or a cafe, but a place where you can go in and make a few friends as you sit and wait for your coffee. Amelia the owner is a sweetheart, you can tell how much she cares for her shop and her customers. I just had their soup of the day during rainy weather while on my lunch break, it was delicious, but what promoted me to make the review is that it was so cozy, with a sense of community, it was a good escape and break well needed from work. Her husband works making sure the meals are ready and the two just make an amazing team that over delivers to the community and tourist.

The BEST apple fritter I have ever had in my life!! It was still warm from the oven, crispy on the outside with huge chunks of apple on the inside and just heavenly flavor. And then you have the owner Amelia, who could not be lovelier, more friendly and welcoming. This is an absolute gem of a place and a must stop when you are in Idyllwild.
