Amélie's Uptown | French Bakery & Cafe

So glad I stopped here while in Charlotte! This place is so kitschy, affordable, delicious and a great place for solo travelers or groups!! I got a Tiramisu Latte (fantastic) and the Chicken Salad Sandwich (so so good, and a great portion for a great price). The best part is definitely the artsy-French inspired art that I was told is all done by the owner — brava to her!!! Before I left I snagged a few macarons and a fruit tart that were delish If I’m back in town I’ll be coming back for sure! 🇫🇷❤️😁

I read very good reviews so I went there with great expectations. It came true to certain extent. There sandwiches were good and had quick service. Coffee was awesome, we tried Salted caramel mocha and tiramisu flavor. We had 6 different types of macaroons- vanilla, raspberry, chocolate ganache, Cafe au lait, cookies and cream and s'more. All were good, but little on sweeter side. Their decor was very different, they wanted to emphasize on French decor and they succeeded in it. Its very big place - more of restaurant than a café. If they can keep it cleaner it would look great. It had a little gloomy look.

The decor in this place alone makes it worth visiting. The macaroons are amazing - we wanted to go back for more. Lovely bakery with create your own sandwiches, and plenty of freshly baked pastries. Highly recommend!

Come for the food, stay for the quirky atmosphere! The different chandeliers are so fun, as well as the random art all over the walls. We got a Samoa tart and pistachio petit four. Both were AMAZING! Parking is tricky, we had to park a few streets over because there was no parking in front for the time of our visit. The staff were very friendly, patient (there’s so many things to choose from!) and helpful.

A breakfast cafe of the playful style. Not only with a variety of sweet pastries and Danish, the bakery also has a lot to offer. The eye doesn't get bored. Each lamp is artistically individual. After ordering, the prepared self will be picked up. No table service. There are many types of coffee to taste. A nice way to start the day. There are enough seats on different levels.

The staff were very friendly, and the atmosphere is incredible, with great music and a wide variety of beautiful desserts. Personally, I found some desserts to be quite sweet, and the matcha latte and café mocha had more foam than expected, which slightly took away from the latte flavor compared to other locations but I still love Amélie’s and always enjoy coming back.

The eggs: cold, spinach getting bad, French toast: hard. Not what you'd expect from Amelie's. If you go for pastries and coffee it's great. Seating areas are amazing. Recommend: Get a chef that cares about food immediately.

Lovely décor and a calming ambience—perfectly peaceful during a weekday lunchtime. I noticed quite a few people working, which added to the relaxed vibe. The hot chocolate was thick and creamy, just how it should be. We also tried the chocolate croissant and the gâteau—both were absolutely delicious. Will definitely be coming back!

This is a MUST SEE/EAT/VISIT spot in Charlotte! Everyone had told us about this spot, so we had to pop in for breakfast. The place is huge and the food is amazing. It's an order at the counter then sit down and wait to be called. They're fairly quick and the food comes out hot. The bakery is on another level and the inside is a beautiful depiction of modern spin on 17th century France. We ordered the French toast, a dozen of their famous macaroons and I ordered a build your own sandwich. BEST BREAKFAST SANDWICH IVE EVER HAD. I ordered it on a croissant with egg, raspberry jam and Brie spread. Wow - the flavor of every element was impeccable. The croissant was so crispy and flakey. I'll be eating here every morning I'm here!

i don't know if my review is fair as I was in town and am from new york where there are a lot of really great patisseries. the croissants are ok but not the greatest. having spent some time in uptown, I think they are probably the best in the area. their breakfast sandwiches are pretty pricey - more than $10 bucks for a decent sandwich. like i said, for uptown, this is on the higher end of the scale but if I was in the suburbs, would i travel in?? probably not. i think there may be some better options in north and south end.

We had such a great time grabbing a bite and marveling at the ambiance of Amelie's, that we had to visit it twice in the same trip! We've got a thing for French cafes and when we saw that Charlotte had one in town that was highly rated, we knew we had to give it a shot! What first struck us was the very large selection of bakery items. It was seemingly never-ending, along with the coffees, and they all looked delightful! Additionally, there was a couple of levels of seating, which came complete with no lack of personality and decorations from ceiling to floor. You could probably visit several times, and each time try out a new menu item that you'd enjoy, in addition to a new funny piece of abstract French-inspired artwork to look at. Certainly recommend!

Mediocre lunch. Disappointed because I asked what fruit was in the fruit cut side ($4) and I was told blueberries, strawberries, grapes and pineapple. I specifically confirmed there is no cantaloupe or honeydew.... When I got my food, 90% of the fruit was cantaloupe and honeydew. Macaron was OK, mostly just sweet versus flavorful. Chicken salad croissant was good!

Went for lunch with a friend and was disappointed. We split sandwiches, the chicken salad was good, we liked the buttery croissant. The chicken pesto goat cheese sandwich was alright, baguette was too much. The sides were very disappointing. The seasonal fruit salad was not the fruit we were told. The side of toasted potatoes were cold and appeared to have scrambled egg pieces in them.

This French Bakery and restaurant in Uptown Charlotte, NC has one of the most opulent interiors I've seen for casual dining. It was fun looking at all the chandeliers and decor. I placed my order at the counter. I had the Create your own Sandwich $10.50 on a croissant with egg, tomato and Brie with two sauces. I also had the large mousse cup $6.90. Everything was delicious. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. They have a nice French dessert assortment at the counter.

Gorgeous chandeliers dance on the ceiling and mirrors on the walls shimmer with delight! This is an opulent place with lovely artwork and fascinating decor. I stopped in for a respite for lunch and had a nice sandwich and a scone with my hot tea. The service was somewhat slow, but the place was crowded. There is indoor and outdoor seating and I chose a cozy corner. Would I return? Oui oui!

We stopped in for a quick breakfast. I had an oat milk latte. My breakfast was yogurt that came with granola and fresh berries. My husband had the biscuit, egg and bacon sandwich. We both enjoyed our breakfast and really loved the atmosphere. Wish we had time to come back for some yummy looking pastries, but alas, we had to run. Definitely will be back on our next trip to Charlotte. Staff was friendly and everything was very well organized, and the restaurant was very clean.

I recently visited this location of Amelie's while back in town visiting family. I was really craving a latte and a pastry and after a quick search on Yelp I found this location in Uptown, not too far away. Having been to another location in the past, I knew this would curb that craving. It took me a minute to find parking, but I was lucky enough to snag a paid spot on the street. The inside of the cafe is way bigger than I expected it to be. I love the black and white checkered floor, the big chandeliers, and eclectic art. It definitely gives off a fun Parisian vibe. I ordered a lavender iced latte with oatmilk and grabbed a few pastries to share with the family. Two plain croissants, a chocolate croissant, a strawberry danish, and a cream danish. All were pretty tasty. My least favorite was the chocolate croissant, it was dry and had hardly any chocolate in it at all. The crowd favorite was the strawberry danish. We cut it into fours and everyone got to take a bite. It was delicious. I'll end by saying that the service was pretty darn quick for being late in the morning. That was much appreciated. I regret not getting any macarons, because that's what made me remember Amelie's from a few years ago but hey, I guess that means I need to visit another location on my next trip to Charlotte.

We arrived at the store around 9 am on Friday 21 of November Lovely place and was greeted politely After placing order and receiving it, asked for raw sugar. Barista replied: "if there is none out there we don't have any " so I asked another gentleman feeling that the barista didn't want to be bothered He asked the barista and said the same answer " I just spent 70 dollars and you mean to tell me that you have no raw sugar " They finally gave me some raw sugar in a cup I decided to look under the condiments counter and voila, a box full of raw sugar Come on, where is the customer service There was plenty all along but she didn't want to be bothered Liked the place but will not recommend to any of my friends to go there Patronage will not be supported only by good quality food CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS TO BE THERE ALSO

When you walk in, you can't help but take a step back and marvel at the bright and beautiful decor. Just gets you in the mood for the yummy goodness that awaits. So many decadent desserts and pastries to choose from. I got the strawberry cheesecake danish which was topped with fresh strawberries and it was soooooo good. I got a caramel mocha ice coffee to go with it and it was so delish. I highly recommend taking the time to take a sit inside or outside to truly savor everything. If you're going solo, taking a nice book to read would truly set the mood for some nice me time.

This is one of most beautiful cafes I have visited. Its outstanding decor alone is enough to attract people inside and try their decadent bakery items. We went there after lunch so were not that hungry and wanted to explore place more than eat. We were all spellbinded by the beauty of this place. The cafe is huge with outdoor and indoor seating. There are sections or corners decorated differently with unique furnitures, mirrors and chandeliers. We ordered their black coffee, tiramisu flavored cold coffee, eclairs and different flavors of macaroons. The black hot coffee was mild and comforting the way I like! Cold coffees were a little sweet for my taste but my friends enjoyed them. Their macaroons tasted authentic and were delicious. It's self service and pretty convenient. Definitely a perfect escape from your busy schedule when at downtown Charlotte

Dropped in for a quick breakfast and the counter employee recommended the Quiche, which sounded very good. Although the staff was extremely friendly, service was good, the quiche was a little disappointing. Very overcooked and dry. I didn't taste egg, just dry crust and bacon, a lot of bacon. Next time I might have to create my old breakfast sandwich so it is a little fresher.

Interesting place that brings a bit of French culture but in an American style. Super tasty sweets, we ordered 4 items and none of them disappointed. I especially loved the Apple cobbler mini tart and the chocolate petit gateau. I loved the decor and the museum feel it has with different models of chandeliers on the ceiling, mirrors on some walls and paintings. Very different and pleasant. I think it's a perfect stop for a coffee and a sweet between visits to the museum or after an event nearby.

This is a coffee bar, bakery plus cafe. It is decorated so cute with lots of French themed decor. My daughter loved finding Eiffel towers throughout the restaurant. The soups and sandwiches were so good. I liked that you could get them in a combo. The bakery case was stellar and we really enjoyed the pastries we picked out. They were all so pretty and tempting. This cafe was a short walk from the convention center and convenient when in town for an event.

This place is so cute! I went to another location years before but it was not as adorable as this one! They really outdid themselves with the lovely Parisian and unique art decor! My friend and I got a box of desserts to try and enjoyed them all! My favorite has to be the apple flavored cheesecake. Macarons were also delicious and a decent size! I didnt get anything to drink aside from a lemonade (not bad but nothing special) so can't comment on the coffee, but will try on my next visit!

So glad we stopped by during a short trip to Charlotte! What a gorgeous bakery with stunning desserts! The staff was so helpful and friendly, describing all the pastries we asked about. I ordered the Oreo Entremet and they slipped in a mini peanut butter tart! Both were absolutely delicious! They were not overly sweet and all the components were so complementary of each other. My friend got macarons to take home to her family. It's a bonus to find out their macarons were featured in the Hunger Games! Definitely a must stop by if you're in town!

Drinks are awful, my son asked for lemonade and we had to return it, it was water down and it taste like water, espresso was cold and disgusting, my daughter order the flavor coffee, I think it was tiramisu and of course didn't even taste like it at all, food is just okay, tables are dirty, no one clean them, I had to clean the table myself with my purse Lysol Will not recommend this place and of course will not donate my money again, almost $100. Nice open space with ample lighting. The French toast came out less than 2 minutes and we were very skeptical. We were right -- not good at all. Flat burnt toast. The pastries are always good. Coffee is also solid. Parking May be an issue but there a garage behind the building. We walked here so not sure how much the garage is.

Amelie's is my go too and it's always consistently amazing! I got the Oreo desert and it was so good! The service is always good and the restaurant feels like you walked into a restaurant in Paris! Great ambiance for lunch or afternoon coffee and treats!

Oh did I have the best time here! I'm such a big kid at heart. This place reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. Every where you went there was something to see because of its unique decor. Honestly, it's a great spot to host a fun tea party! Oh don't forget the pastries! Yummmm! The cheese danish was light, not overly sweet and perfect with a cup of coffee.

What a beautiful local find in the heart of downtown Charlotte. This location is right in the middle of everything, we just happened to be walking around the city exploring an art festival and fell upon this cafe. The interior is clearly cared for with all the decor and artwork carefully curated to create the eclectic vibe. The pastries on display were being baked fresh and the family and I picked a few to share. There's multiple levels to the cafe and it seems like you could find a nice quarter to spend sometime just hanging out or studying. Service was friendly and quick, they were super patient with us as we kept changing our minds about which pastries we wanted.

My matcha had chunks of powder and an oily consistency. Not good at all. Customer service was great while ordering though. But I came for the beverage so one star. I've had a better experience at other locations. Maybe today was an off day.

What an amazing cafe! The food and restaurant are a fun and unique experience with lots of options. The line was long but moved quickly and the food came out quickly as well. The biscuit was beautifully flaky and the quiche was cheesy and delicious. We would definitely return!

Food Had the croque monsieur, roasted corn + red pepper salad, and a strawberry lemonade. Everything was amazing! For the sandwich, the croissant was buttery, flaky, and the sweetness of it paired well with the savoriness of the ham. They were out of the fresh berry salad, but the roasted corn + red pepper salad was no slouch! It was like eating a taco salad without the tortilla chips. The strawberry lemonade had just the right amount of sweetness. Service When you walk in, it's a huge open area, so keep in mind the counter to order is to the right while The Red Window in the middle is where to pick up your order. Both employees I interacted with were patient as I asked what exactly was in the salad and I was sold! Also helped me pick out a drink as this was my first time there. Ambiance This place is really cute, plenty of seating inside and out. The pastry cases look great, and I definitely have to try some next time I'm in Charlotte.

Got some after lunch caffeine from Amelie's - an iced caffe latte and an iced strawberry matcha latte (seasonal). We carried our drinks out, but it's a cute and quickly space that is decorated around a Victorian theme. Standard latte, and the strawberry matcha was a bit lacking in the matcha flavor with too much milk - tasted more like a strawberry milk haha but was fun to check out the cafe.

It is always a treat to come to Amelie's when in Charlotte! I love the decor and how much seating there is! The pastries and desserts are not only beautiful, but delicious! I had an iced coffee and my friend had a blueberry muffin and chai tea. We enjoyed everything and we plan to return tomorrow for pastries to take home! The young lady who helped us was very kind and helpful.

Super cute ....huge place with lots of cute photo ops and nooks to sit, of course Paris themed. Great macroon options and lots of little sweet bites. Looks like a great place to sit and work on a corner or just stop over for a snack and cafe like we did.

I got to visit my BF for her birthday. She mentioned she wanted to take me to a bakery (so her!) to celebrate her birthday. Ok, sweets? I'm in. Amelie's is not what I was expecting AT ALL. Its so cute, so fancy and such a cool place to be. Its right downtown in the middle of some beautiful green spaces and the perfect place to have coffee indoors our out. They have so many photo opportunities as well!! I took advantage of several. :) As soon as we walked up, we were greeted with smiling faces. Since I was new, I asked a few questions about how everything was made and what was popular. Its freshly made. . .each day AND EVERYTHING IS POPULAR! Not event kidding. I chose the cinnamon roll and it everything that I needed. Soft and sweet. I also had an iced latte which was delicious. If you're ever in the area, you must pay them a visit. I can't wait to get back.

Amélie's can do no wrong to me. I looovvvee this place. They take ALL of my money. I've never had anything here that I didn't like. And even if I did, I'm sure they would rectify that for me. I've gone here during all seasons. The pumpkin lattes, the cream brûlée pancakes, their lunch combos, seasonal macaroons, sparkling flavored sodas. The service is immaculate. I'm not sure if Michael still works at the Uptown location, but I always appreciate his service. Be sure to sign up for their rewards system. If you go as frequent as I do, it's worth it. They also have double stars day/hours if you look on the app.

Such a cool spot near the convention center! Came here twice while attending a conference. The coffee was great-I had a Marcotter with oat milk and the treats even better! I tried the lavender lemon macaron-so good and a good size for the price! Also tried the mini Nutella tart and later tried the strawberry cream cheese danish. The danish was perfect!! Flaky with a good amount of cheese and strawberries. The Nutella tart was a little dry but still very good. Great spot for breakfast or lunch! Wish we had more time to try for lunch, I heard their quiches are amazing! Fun chandeliers all over the dining space and fun paintings to pull out and insert your face!! You can be the next Mona Lisa!

The best macaroons I have ever had!! So light, airy, and smooth. I never thought I liked macaroons until I tried them here. You can't go wrong with any flavor but the blueberry cheesecake was delightful. I ordered at the counter and it was quick in and out. They also serve entrees and have plenty of seats to enjoy. The interior is cutely decorated. Truly the best bakery!

A great find in uptown Charlotte! Eclectic and inviting. My first thought was 'how marvelous the decor' When I got my order, I then thought 'how delightful!!

Chicken Salad on croissant - flavorful salad on buttery, crispy goodness Potato, asparagus, and leek soup side-perfect texture and marriage of flavors Salted caramel chocolate torte - sweet and shareable with three or four friends Thoughtful, attentive servers who work in tandem to meet guest requests-feeling honored and taken care of to have them recognize my name and quickly present my order even though it was my first visit Delightful, colorful, witty decor!

It's a really nice bakery and cafe. The interior design is pretty with all the chandeliers. There is a good variety of pastries and drinks available. The pastries is too sweet for me to enjoy alone, but pairs well with the bitterness of coffee or tea. The service was okay.

This is the second location I've tried and love it as much as the first one I tried (Pineville-Matthews rd). This location is huge as there is also an upstairs. It was quiet enough that I was able to work for a couple of hours. There wasn't a charger near by and I didn't check around to see where they were located but I do wish there were more chargers. I had the iced white chocolate mocha... delicious. For food I had the Turkey Bacon Monte Cristo. I highly recommend!! I inhaled the sandwich it was so good. I also had the oreo cream cheese tart and I can't remember the name of the other tart but both delicious.

I really like the food here. The coffee is good. The space is pleasant. But please figure out a workflow where we don't have to wait for ten minutes for someone to hand us a 12 oz drip coffee. It's not busy, but I still waited behind a wall of specialty coffee drinks before the barista could spend seven seconds pouring my coffee into a cup.

What a delightfully weird and wonderful place! So many interesting things to look at, and a million tasty things to try. The servers were very helpful and nice.

I visited Amelias on 10/5/25.....it was great and the ambience was outstanding. We had a little hiccup either way the food but it turned out to be fine. I discussed this with the new manager Nolan....he was the nicest and genuine person I have ever dealt with....he was polite and took care of the problem and then offered us a free dessert which was outstanding. Thank u Nolan taking care of us and I will be back not just for the food but for you too!!!!

Zack/Zach (general manager)- if you see this... you made my entire day. i have a gluten allergy and he made me feel so seen, so safe, and thanked me for coming in, and when i thanked him he said "everyone deserves a treat) and gave me an extra brownie for free. (yes, salted caramel brownie is gluten free- and INCREDIBLE)

I have been an Amelie's fan for more than a decade. While I like some of the changes that have been made to the menu, I've recently been disappointed with some items. This morning, I ordered the breakfast bowl with potatoes, eggs and sausage. The sausage was crusty, the potatoes were deflated and the eggs were rubbery. The aioli drizzled on top was the only thing that made it palatable. I am also sad to know that they're serving smoked salmon on place of (?) the salmon filets that they used to serve, and that the chicken salad recipe has changed I still love the service, the desserts and hot bevvies. Just wish they could've held on to some of the staples (and made those potatoes a little plumper).

Fiest time at this location. Much bigger venue than any of the other locations i have been to. Big open space with plenty of seating options to choose from. Of course, they have their well-known quirky decor all over. We arrived around 10:30am. on a Sunday and didn't officially sit down to down our coffee and food until about 11:20am. There was a huge line, and they had run out of a bunch of pastries and flavors of macaroons by the time we got to the front. Ordered a vanilla latte with a breakfast wrap. $20 for two items, which was thought of was very overpriced. The coffee was delicious, but i would not spend $10 on the breakfast wrap. Very bland, the potatoes were cut up in really BIG chunks, and they were cold, so they were very hard to chew. Overall, the wrap was cold and not flavorful at all. Other than that, all the employees were friendly and efficient. The ambiance was great and quiet for a Sunday coffee run. It is located in uptown, and there is a parking deck located right beside the establishment.

Great place to grab pastries! It was a bit busy but was able to find a table. The cafe itself is gorgeous and eclectic. The service was also courteous and friendly.

Atmosphere alone gets 10 stars! A very kitschy, fun place to grab a light snack, some coffee or tea, and some pastry. There are a great selection of macarons, the pastries are fresh, and the espresso is terrific. Not too strong, which can sometimes taste almost burnt, but delicious. Lots of indoor seating and a small outdoor patio. Ordering is done at the counter for food and beverages, and they call your order or bring it to you when finished. And watch out for Vincent Van Gogh staring at you from the corner!

This place was very cute with a lot of French inspiration! Unfortunately, I wasn't too impressed by the breakfast sandwich which was very dry. The white chocolate mocha, however, was very good! I also got a cinnamon roll, which was just OK and nay have been better if warmed up.

Cute spot to grab coffee and sit for a while. They have quite a selection of baked goods, definitely something for everyone. Got the pistachio coconut latte, strawberry pastry and half avocado, pickle, onion tartine. Half portion of tartine was larger than expected. Everything was yummy. Service quick and friendly.
