Utterly delicious. I came from Crystal City specifically to eat at Amen Cafe because of the reviews, and it was completely worth the trip. Food was perfect, very sweet service (I felt like I was invited into a home), and a relaxing atmosphere to boot. It’s even right next to the metro! I literally could not have asked for more, this was exactly what I needed while traveling DC for business. Snapped me out of that hotel food mental haze.

Amen Café is my favorite Ethiopian Cafe in DC. They have everything from staple to specialty dishes, and classic café sandwich/meal options that most full capacity restaurants do not have. I truly think everyone can find something they like. My favorites are the firfir, breakfast platter, smoothies and ginger tea. Britz is the absolute sweetest host and heightens the homey and calming feeling of the cafe.

Amazing food for an amazing price! Probably some of the best Jamaican food I’ve had in the city

Google
Great location to grab a quick breakfast en route to the Metro, serving a selection of coffees, teas, smoothies, juices, pastries, and plated foods (the breakfast platter looked enticing). For a small shop in a row of small shops, Amen stands out; you can see and feel the care put into it. The staff was helpful, offering suggestions to tailor my order. For whatever it’s worth, they do not serve decaf.

Google
A cozy little cafe that offers the perfect respite from the cold outside. The owner is incredibly kind and friendly, and the food is delicious! Wish I got to try more of the traditional Ethiopian selections on the menu, but all the more reason to go back ☺️

Google
Best curried goat I’ve had in DC. Perfect spice, not too salty. The service is a little slow, but it’s worth it.

Google
Nice selection of food that are Ethiopian cafe classics. Food is made to order.

Yelp
A beautiful & intimate cafe' that gave warmth & comfort as soon as I walked in. The barista (or manager) Briket (spell check) was very welcoming & knew just what to suggest to me when I asked about certain food options. I had a crew of people meet up here for it was our first time visiting the location (& it accompanied a group of 7 of us perfectly). Food delicious and cappuccino perfect! Others got brunch food and enjoyed as well. We were there for hours enjoying our food, drinks and conversation! Will definitely return.

Yelp
Really great spot close to Georgia Ave metro. The coffee is really good, and so are the Ethiopian breakfast and the breakfast sandwich. The owner is really kind too :) Nice place to stop in for a coffee to go or hang out, read, work etc.

Yelp
Took more than hour for them to respond and they ended up cancelling my DoorDash order. Would not recommend.

Yelp
The Fuul special is fantastic. Service with amazing French bread the eggs and dabs bean mixture is a delight. Layered with the jalapeños and tomato it adds a freshness and spice to an already amazing dish. Coffee is fantastic. No frills coffee and breakfast place. A+

Yelp
AMEN Cafe has upgraded its furniture and painted. The food and service remain outstanding. AMEN is my home away from home.

Yelp
By far my favorite coffee shop I've been to in Petworth, and in the running for favorite in DC. The interior is small but so cozy. The owner, Mimi, was an absolute delight and was so hospitable. I'm biased toward Ethiopian coffee and cuisine, but this was top-notch. They roast their own Ethiopian beans in-house. They have so many veggie options, and a mix of American breakfast/lunch and Ethiopian. The best part? This is the cheapest coffee I've gotten in DC. And it was one of my favorites. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Great juices and the excellent spirit of the lady that serves my juices. I tell my school staff to support because the service is wonderful.

Yelp
Loved this cafe! We had the Foul special, very tasty. The service was very nice. A quiet place don't be fooled by the lack of other customers the food was excellent. We will go back again when in town.

Yelp
i'm here yet again!! I absolutely love this shop. Everything to the ambiance, to the friendliness of the owner and customers, to the delicious food and drinks. I love this place and it's a MUST GO TO if you're staying in DC!!

Yelp
If there was anyway to give this place more than 5 stars, I would do it in less than a heartbeat. The food is beyond incredible, the coffee and teas are superb, and the service makes this place feel like you've walked into a family member's home. The woman who runs the place is a sweet lady who takes care of all of her customers with a warmth and kindness you don't see much anymore. I am a new regular, and I will forever be.

Yelp
This place is around the corner from my friend's apartment in petworth and we stopped in to grab breakfast and coffee. It's a small spot right near the metro at the intersection of Georgia and New Hampshire. They have a cute seating area, breakfast and smoothie options. We each had a bagel breakfast sandwich with turkey bacon. They do fresh griddled eggs here, which is what makes the difference to me! They also serve foul, which made me so happy! I didn't try it but hope to come back and have it next time. Foul is a middle eastern/North African breakfast of fava beans and chick peas. My father always makes it for us on the weekends. The coffee here is outstanding. I'm picky when it comes to coffee and theirs was super fresh with a lot of depth of flavor and no bitterness. The people who own and run this place are super friendly and accommodating. Would definitely be a regular if I lived in the area.

Yelp
Best egg and cheese sandwich around, by far. Ginger coffee has a great kick to it. Everything is made fresh and is delicious. Love this little place!

Yelp
We had a lovely casual breakfast here. Definitely try the foul for breakfast for something different and really delicious -- it comes with a big basket of bread that makes it enough to share for two. The foul special adds scrambled eggs. Bagels and coffee were great as well. Have not had a chance to try to fresh juices yet, but we will be back!

Yelp
Very friendly staff. Tasty food. Nice ambience.Giod view of the street with comfy seating. They made Ethiopian coffee on hot coals on a Sunday. Enjoyed the taste and the aroma as well as learning about this tradition.

Ellie C.

Yelp
I love this place! The other day when I went in they were burning incense and serving traditional ginger coffee. Very comfortable atmosphere to hang out. In a neighborhood becoming rapidly gentrified, support local businesses!

Sarah R.

Yelp
Cute place and kind folks, but the internet doesn't work and there are a few flies inside. Not an overall biggie, but something to be aware of / could be easily addressed with a screen.

John E.

Yelp
The coffee here is amazing and the staff is always so friendly and kind. The coffee is fantastic - especially the iced coffee. It is a nice relaxing environment to sit inside and enjoy some coffee or snacks. Their Ethiopian breakfast dishes are great, as are their bagels.
