This was my second visit to The Amendment, and unfortunately the experience was far from decent.
I came on a Thursday night after my friend filmed his comedy special and arrived early with a group of about 10 people. We showed up around 8:00 PM, and at that time there were only about four other guests in the entire place. You would think a group ready to sit, drink, and spend money would be welcomed.
I arrived early specifically to grab a table, and from the start we were met by an extremely unfriendly host who genuinely seemed like she didn’t want us there. I suggested we take two side tables since people would be sitting and standing, socializing, ordering drinks, and spending money. I was immediately told this “wasn’t a standing bar” and that if we wanted to stand, we should go to a dive bar down the street. This was odd considering we fully intended to drink premium liquor and order food.
It took at least 10 minutes before anyone even approached us. Eventually the bartender came to the table, but ordering was slow and awkward. At one point he started speaking in what felt like a fake accent, to the point where I genuinely thought he was speaking Spanish to me, which was uncomfortable and confusing.
Drinks took 20–30 minutes to arrive. I also ordered appetizers for the group, but after waiting quite a while, I asked about the food and was told the order was never put in.
As the rest of the party arrived, their drink orders weren’t taken until nearly an hour into being there.
When it came time to close out, things somehow got worse. Items appeared on my check that were not mine. I was told they were removed, but the reprinted check still showed the incorrect charges. I was then told the items would be “moved to someone else’s tab” and that I wouldn’t be charged, but I refused to sign anything without a correct receipt reflecting only my actual order. That should never be an argument a guest has to have.
Despite all of this, we still stayed, drank multiple rounds, and spent a significant amount of money. I tipped, but honestly felt like I shouldn’t have.
I’ve worked in the bar industry for over 10 years, and this level of service was shocking. Between the attitude, the delays, the forgotten food, and the billing issues, the entire night was poorly handled. I wanted to like this place, but based on two visits, I won’t be returning.
