I'm just now getting a chance to write this review....months late.
Anyhoo, my best friend was in town from Miami and we decided to have a pamper weekend. This place is close to my house and I saw that it had great yelp reviews, so I gave it a chance. America was able to accommodate us with no wait. Both my friend and I have natural (unprocessed), coarse/thick, shoulder-length hair. My hair texture is softer, so I was quoted a less price than my friend. My friend was not happy about being charged more and America was very rude about it, but she went along with it to appease me. Since we have natural hair, rollers was not an option. My friend was blow dried first. Though she has coarse hair, its thin, so she can't take much heat. The blow dryer was extremely hot. My friend told the stylist several times that it was too hot. But the stylist claimed that was the only temperature and she couldn't turn it down because her hair wouldn't get straight. My friend sat there flinching in pain until it was over. As a result, her edges were fried and she ended up with bald patches. I was next to go in the chair. And yes, she was right, the blow dryer temperature was beyond hot! I also asked the stylist to turn the temp down or press the cool button, but she claimed she couldn't. By the end, my scalp was sore from the excessive heat. Granted, when we left the salon, our hair was bone straight, but at the expense of it being fried beyond belief. I definitely would not go here again, and I'm sorry I subjected my friend to this experience. Her hair is still recovering!
