⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I absolutely love America’s Salon! Every visit leaves me feeling refreshed, confident, and completely myself. The haircuts are not just stylish—they’re durable and grow out beautifully, always looking natural. You can truly feel the open heart and care in the service they provide. It’s more than just a haircut—it’s an experience of being seen and uplifted. Highly recommended! We Love you America!

I’ve been going to America for a while now, and she is truly amazing! She’s always very friendly, welcoming, and professional. You can tell she really cares about her clients and takes pride in her work. I always leave feeling great about my haircut and the overall experience. Highly recommend her!

America is a miracle worker. Went in with damaged hair and color that was done poorly somewhere else. She has transformed my hair and I love the color. She is attentive and a pleasure. I appreciate never having to wait when I have an appointment. Definitely a local gem.

America is an amazing hairstylist and host! We flew into NY because she is the only stylist my wife trusts with her hair. She is friendly, kind, and has a practiced hand.

I had the pleasure of meeting America, a woman with a smile and extraordinary strength and her passion for what she does was clear from the beginning: she understood my hair color perfectly and gave me an exceptional style I definitely recommend it and will be back!! I love America Hair Style International!

Google
AMAZING experience at this salon! America was absolutely phenomenal and just made me feel so at home in the chair! I’m young and bleach my hair at home and some stylists can be soooo judgy but she was so welcoming and gave super genuine advice on how I should take care of my hair from now on. I asked for lots of layers to lighten my hair up a little and make it more voluminous and she did a perfect job—I will be back!!

America took good care of my daughter. She’ll be going back to her next week

I’m so impressed with America’s skills in styling my super thick, long, curly (3c) hair! I got a wash, condition, trim, blow out and style. She was so friendly and gave me exactly what I asked for. For the efficiency and great price point- I’ll definitely be back for balayage highlights next! Hells Kitchen is very lucky to have such an experienced stylist in the neighborhood.

Yelp
America not being fluent in English is not a problem. We were able to communicate just fine. Although she didnt know it, I'm fluent is Spanish. I had many other issues like the wait time. If you have an appointment, chances are you will still wait. If you are expecting America to be courteous, you may be disappionted. And if she is speaking Spanish to someone else, chances are she's discussing someone in her chair, or another client she had and how fed up she was with that client. I've witnessed it on a few occasions. Lastly, get the pricing upfront. I saw her charge a non Spanish speaking person one price and then a Spanish speaking person a lower rate. They literally had the same texture and length. And if she is blowing out your hair, you may get burned. If you do and flinch, she may say something like, "that doesn't hurt. You are so sensitive." There are many other options in the area. Especially on 9th ave. And for all of the negativity, the blowouts weren't worth it.

Yelp
Thank goodness for America and her wonderful business! It's not easy for me to find a hairdresser in another city that I can trust will understand my hair type that also takes walk-ins! I first came to the salon on a whim while searching for Dominican hair stylists nearby and stumbled upon the salon's fantastic reviews. The salon is clean and America is quick to warmly welcome you. Both visits she has been the person to take care of me and let me tell you, she is experienced, professional and kind. The price menu is always very reasonable, so I always feel like my money is well spent. Thank you so much, America!

Yelp
America did a great job! I was hesitant to try someone new but she exceeded expectations. She washed, trimmed, and blow dried my hair. I was in an out in an hour. Highly recommend!

Yelp
So grateful that this salon is in my neighborhood, I've never felt more at home in a chair in NYC. Un rayo del sol en la comunidad! Nothing like starting your day with good conversation, a sweet connection, and a cute cut!!

Yelp
America took her time with me and addressed my concerns. My hair came great and I recommend this no nonsense salon to everyone in the neighborhood and beyond. Americas prices are reasonable. She goes the xtra mile for you and listens to what you want

Yelp
I've been coming to America's for 3 years now. She's so reliable and has cut my hair and trimmed my beard in different styles over the years. Each has been quite satisfying. My roommate liked me haircut, then he started coming to her. His brother liked his haircut, and now he comes to her from downtown. She's very good and reasonably priced (about 28 dollars for haircut and wash). She also makes me coffee when I come in, a nice extra touch from a very kind, professional hairstylist.

Stargazer M.

Yelp
America (yes, that's her name) is professional, personable, very kind and warm. I wanted just a cut, no wash, no blow dry. I didn't detect a hint of annoyance, and she did exactly what I asked for. She didn't try to push any products on me-that's refreshing. I walked in in a desperate need for a haircut. My hair is fine and limp. America cut it "Italian style" ,with scissors only, and I got a wonderful, full body, layered haircut. The price was half of what other fancy salons charge in this area We chatted and I felt like I found a long-lost sister. Highly recommend!

Luciano V.

Yelp
I keep coming here after trying out many other places in the area. America never upsets me and the saloon has a good vibe. I recently cut my hair with Orlando for the first time and he did a great job, just as if he had worked on my hair many times in the past. Both are very professional and respectful.

Bx R.

Yelp
Nice salon but definitely overpriced! $95 for a haircut, wash and blowout. I suppose it's the price you pay in Manhattan but I'd rather travel fo Brooklyn to get my hair done for less than half that price.

Yelp
I'm a guy and very very picky about my hair. I find it really hard to find a salon that cuts my hair exactly how I want it to be cut. Jenny has been cutting my hair for over a year now and NEVER lets me down. I've had several hair styles from short to long and each cut has been amazing. Today I just walked in and she was ready for me, no appointment needed. It is better to make an appointment, I've had to wait up to an hour with out one because they are really busy on Friday and the weekend. Expect to spend about an hour in Jenny's char, she will not let you leave until the cut is perfect. Aside from getting a great hair cut the staff is always warm and inviting. So, you may think a great hair stylist is going to cost you $60 like most place in the area charge. NOT here, I was only charged $25 and left a $10 tip. Guys go see Jenny!!! You will fall in love with her attention to detail and bubbly personality. Ladies, I have seen their work it's amazing. I actually took a friend there for a blow out, she is part of the Miss Universe Organization, she said her hair never looked or felt better.

Yelp
America is an amazing hair stylist. She does a great job on my hair and is always friendly & professional.

Corine R.

Yelp
I called America Hairstyle looking for a blow out and could instantly tell from her friendly demeanor that she offers great customer service - I was not let down! I arrived shortly before she closed due to my work schedule and she was happy to service me. Upon arrival she took my coat and instantly made me feel comfortable. She was very interactive and accommodating. My hair looked amazing and she gave me recommendations to better nourish my hair when I'm traveling to different environments. I highly recommend America Hairstyle International and will return on my next trip to NY!

Yelp
Feel like a million bucks! Just left America's and can't believe how good my hair cut and color looks. Even a random stranger complimented me as I was walking home... The customer service is amazing as they pay attention to you the whole time. Not once was I left to squeeze in another appointment as many stylists do, and it was very much appreciated. America has a good eye and recommended a lighter color which looks awesome. Also, I had to rush toward the end for personal reasons, but America called over another stylist so the both of them simultaneously blow dried me in record time! What an experience. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE this hair salon. So far ive only gone to Jenny to do my hair and she IS AMAZING. America is so sweet. These ladies are absolutely amazing. I'm glad i found them They accommodate your work schedule. I usually go on my lunch break and I'm back in time and my hair looks flawless. Its not a rushed job its amazing. Everyone always compliments my hair when i come out of the salon. If you need a good salon this one is THE BEST!!!!. Tell them Laurie sent you :)

Yelp
I just had the best haircut in years. I had let my hair grow out and I let my bangs grow out and I told myself, whoever cuts my hair now is going to have a full head of hair to work with. So I walked into America's hair salon - that's her real name - and having been in the neighborhood for years and hearing such great things about her - I decided to let America do her magic. I told her what I wanted the cut to look like, I pulled out a photo of a haircut that I liked - and she cut it exactly the way I wanted it! It came out great. I love the cut, the shine, how it flips just at the right angle. It's exactly what I hoped for. I highly recommend America Hair Style International for your haircut.

Ellen C.

Yelp
I was on vacation and decided to treat myself to a shampoo and blow dry. It was better than a spa day! Truly a much needed scalp massage. It was Heaven. America was so pleasant - friendly but not overly chatty. She suggested slightly thinning my hair in the back and I just trusted her. My hair is super thick and it has made drying and styling my hair so much easier. We were staying in the "theatre district" which was convenient to many attractions. No matter where I stay in the future, I will find my way to her shop.

Kimberly Y.

Yelp
Back again! I have had a number of bad experiences at other hair salon when I want a color change or touch up, America always gets it right. She explains what she does during each process and what your hair needs to improve health and texture.

Tunde B.

Yelp
Came through last minute. Was able to manage my natural hair well and looked great! Still looked fantastic even after a week.

Ivette m.

Yelp
Yet another PERFECT haircut. I've been coming here for about 4 years now. I have naturally curly hair and get nervous when trying out a new hair salon. I'm always 100% satisfied every time I get my haircut here. Consistently good. Love it.

Yelp
I really wanted to run home and write a review, but like any smart woman I wanted to wash my hair and see if It still looked as good after washing and doing it myself and also taking my new look to an office full often brutally honest woman to assess. Let me start by saying I am a hairdresser junkie. I vist in my home town no less than once a week, and have been loyally dedicated to my hairdresser for 9 years... No one touches my hair ever! But after 18 months travelling, the time had come and I carefully read reviews and decided America was my girl. Due to schedule conflicts (hey, I was in New York and there was so much to do!) America went above and beyond to fit me in after deciding my hair was a train wreck and needed some serious assistance. She listened, she worked and in the end she was MAGIC. I simply could not be more delighted with what she created... And make no mistake, this woman is a hair designer, the compliments have not stopped and additionally my mum loves it... Which speaks volumes. Visit America for an experience you won't forget, a hairstyle you'll want to keep forever, and a hairdresser you'll want to take home and make you and your hair feel that good everyday (and her coffee is pretty good also!)

Yelp
I'm just now getting a chance to write this review....months late. Anyhoo, my best friend was in town from Miami and we decided to have a pamper weekend. This place is close to my house and I saw that it had great yelp reviews, so I gave it a chance. America was able to accommodate us with no wait. Both my friend and I have natural (unprocessed), coarse/thick, shoulder-length hair. My hair texture is softer, so I was quoted a less price than my friend. My friend was not happy about being charged more and America was very rude about it, but she went along with it to appease me. Since we have natural hair, rollers was not an option. My friend was blow dried first. Though she has coarse hair, its thin, so she can't take much heat. The blow dryer was extremely hot. My friend told the stylist several times that it was too hot. But the stylist claimed that was the only temperature and she couldn't turn it down because her hair wouldn't get straight. My friend sat there flinching in pain until it was over. As a result, her edges were fried and she ended up with bald patches. I was next to go in the chair. And yes, she was right, the blow dryer temperature was beyond hot! I also asked the stylist to turn the temp down or press the cool button, but she claimed she couldn't. By the end, my scalp was sore from the excessive heat. Granted, when we left the salon, our hair was bone straight, but at the expense of it being fried beyond belief. I definitely would not go here again, and I'm sorry I subjected my friend to this experience. Her hair is still recovering!

Yelp
I've never complained about a haircut in my life. Until now. Two major issues. I asked for natural looking highlights, said not to use bleach. She used such light coloring that I looked orange two days later. Second, I asked for layers and she cut huge layers - very aggressive Rachel style layers. For 6 weeks now, I've worn my hair in a ponytail and I keep checking to see if it is long enough to get rid of the layers and start over. I honestly think it will be another 6 months (at least) before I can rescue it. Several people love this salon from the reviews here. . My advice would be if you go here for the first time, be very, very prescriptive. Do not say "natural" and "layers" and expect you will have the same interpretation. Bring a photo of what you want, what you definitely don't want. If you do not speak Spanish this will be even more important. And frankly, I'd stay away from coloring altogether.

Brenda G.

Yelp
I have been a client of America's for 15 years and she has always made me walk out of her salon looking like a superstar! America genuinely cares about you looking your best. She offers adept haircutting and coloring skills, prompt service (even when you walk in without an appointment) in a friendly environment. She knows when to talk and when you just want to veg out with a magazine. I trust only her with my beautiful hair and recommend her to all looking for a hair professional with reasonable prices who listens. Check out her new digs and sit back while she works her magic.

Yelp
I have been a costumer of America's for almost 10 year. And she is amazing! I have super curly hair and she can really give me a killer blow out that last for days. Before I started coming to her I use to relax my hair and she told me to stop- she said relaxing and highlighting my hair would have long term consequences such as hair loss so I stopped and within the 10 years I have more hair than ever. She has taught me to take care of my hair. Her work is incredible and most of all she's versatile she can rock and tame anyone's hair.

Yelp
I have been a customer at this hair salon for the past 2 years. I am VERY picky about who I let touch my hair. My hair is naturally curly but I like to wear it straight which can cause a lot of strain on my hair if not done correctly. Jenny and America understand hair. They tailor to YOUR specific needs and know exactly what to do to leave your hair feeling smooth, soft and shiny. They are easy going, pleasant and will make anyone feel at ease here. I come here during my lunch hour sometimes and they are very accommodating and get me in and out before I have to return to work. The prices are fair for Manhattan and you will be treated great!

Adeline P.

Yelp
America is amazing! I had my hair color, a wash and set, and a trim done by her! I was very pleased with my results! Upon arrival to America's hair salon, I had a yellowish-blondish hair color in which I was not fond of at all. I was hoping to get a nice platinum hair color, which can be pretty difficult to obtain, however, America was able to provide with what I wanted and I was pleased with that. The great thing about America is that she knows how to use damage-free hair products on the hair to minimize breakage when it comes to bleaching, toning and/or dying the hair; therefore, since I am a satisfied customer, I will definitely be a returning client. Highly recommend since America seems to know how to work with all hair types as well!

Trisha J.

Yelp
As an African-American woman who wears her hair completely natural, finding someone to do a real wash and blow is difficult. I've been to a gazillion salons in various cities, especially New York, and America is absolutely the BEST, hands down. She will transform your hair from tight kinks to silky straight with care and finesse. America knows hair. The best part is, she does not rip you off. Her prices are affordable and she always does a fantastic job! Don't waste your time searching for anyone else. Go to America's!
google avatar

Leah C.

Yelp
I really believe America the hairstylist is the best kept secret in Manhattan. She is an absolute "artiste". I was really lucky that day i walked by 5 years ago and gave her a try. I just got a superb-quality haircut, plus color and highlights for half of what it would cost me 10 minutes away on the Upper West Side, where I live. America will spend as much time as needed to get the job done just right. Plus, she has a great personality and is genuinely solicitous -- i was tired last time and she went out to get me a snack!
google avatar

Alexis B.

Yelp
I've been coming to this salon for about 6 months now. America is very sweet and cares a great deal about her client's hair. She has everything that you need- a phone charger and a lint brush for your clothes. She's funny and will take constructive criticism about how you like your hair done.

Yelp
I have been trying to find a hair stylist that can deal with my hair FOREVER......and yesterday I FOUND HER!!!!!! America is absolutely THE BEST!!!! She was able to straighten my hair without chemicals or frying it! I was so amazingly surprised and grateful!!! I was actually considering going back to perming my hair but now I can keep my natural hair going! I LOVE HER!!!!!!! I will NEVER go to another stylist. I'll be back soon for another wash and blow out and then maybe some color. Thank you America!!!!!!!

Yelp
Awesome place to get a great haircut for a very reasonable price. It's a bit of a hole in the wall but they do a great job and it's very easy to schedule an appointment. The women working there are all very friendly too. I used to go to a fancier salon and this place does just as good a job!
google avatar

Elizabeth E.

Yelp
I've been getting my hair cut and straightened by America and Jenny for almost 2 years. I love that America is so welcoming and greets me like I've been going there for years. I have natural hair and I'm very cautious about putting heat to my hair. But America and Jenny understand this and always treat my hair accordingly. After my last blowout, absolutely no damage to my hair. Will continue to come here for my hair needs.
google avatar

talaitha d.

Yelp
great job, great price, especially for the area. Jenny's stayed open late to make sure my hair was perfect before.

Ginger S.

Yelp
Came in a few weeks ago for a wash, deep condition, roller set, and wrap. The salon was empty at 5:30pm on a Friday which I'm not sure was a good or bad sign - great that I was 100% attended to with no wait, but I've never been to a Dominican salon worth going to that's ever completely empty! Anyways, America and Jenny could not be sweeter. Jenny did my hair - while the wash and roller set were fine, the roots-only blow-out was just okay and the wrap was not great (way too loose). The main reason I won't be coming back however is the price - $45 plus tip for a basic wash and set, and I even brought my own products! I'm not too familiar with midtown prices but I pay $20 regularly for the same service in Brooklyn and have never been charged more than $30 anywhere else in either Manhattan or Brooklyn - this was WAY too overpriced in my opinion.

Yelp
Hello I have been going to America's Salon for almost 20 years. When I started with her I had a short Afro. Thanks to her I now have shoulder length hair. Not only is she great with the blow drying, she actually teaches you how to do your hair and maintain it if you cant make to the salon. She definitely knows what she is doing. She is a good listener and follows instructions. I have gone to other Dominican Salons and trust me, they do not compare to AMERICA'S. If you want to have your hair done, feel at home and look like a million dollars when you leave. This is the place to go. Maybe I will see you there one day when I am doing my hair.

Jessica K.

Yelp
First i will say America is very nice. I just move to NY and I came because all of the great reviews on yelp. America styled my hair about a month ago. First I have to say she is VERY rough on the hair. she used a comb to take conditioner out of my hair and I can hear my hair breaking. when she did my roller set she also pull my hair too much, i saw my hair all over the floor. i wish she will not pull my hair so much :( I will never visit again!

Lillian T.

Yelp
I have been going to America for many years. She is a great sylist and colorist. She works with her customers and does not have that attitude that so many hair stylists have. I always get compliments when America does my hair. I am not an easy person to satisfy and she goes out of her way to make me happy.

Iraida M.

Yelp
All I can say is I am thankful that I have found America!!!! I finally found a professional hairstylist who understands my hair and knows color. I've been going to America for a couple of months now and I love how she does my hair all the time. I have naturally curly hair and she understands every strand of it!! Just a few weeks ago I asked her to give me a color. I brought in a picture of the color and hairstyle I wanted and she gave me exactly what I saw on the picture. I was nervous at first but she relaxed me and assured me she knew what she was doing and I would be happy with the end result. All I can say is, I most certainly was!!! I love how she does my hair always and I love her friendliness and her friendly staff -- I am so happy to have found her!! America and Jenny are the best in Manhattan!!!

Yelp
When I moved to Hells Kitchen from Harlem I was really worried I'd never be able to find a Dominican salon that could do my hair within my neighborhood. America's salon was a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm from NJ, where some of the best Dominican salons call home, and I can honestly say my hair has never looked so healthy, so shiny and so soft in my life! America and Jenny are miracle workers. I think it's a combination of the products and how adamant she is about how damaging flat irons can be--my hair is always on point when I leave. I've gotten some great haircuts here as well--both trims and more dramatic layers. America is super accommodating as well and always willing to fit me in after work. She's professional but also so so caring which is something I look for. But if you're looking for a get in, get out situation with minimal conversation she's down with that too. I'd recommend this salon to anyone--I've had white friends with thinner, straight hair and black friends who've gone natural go to America's salon and they all leave happy. She can do it all!

Ellen B.

Yelp
This place is great. I received a very nice wash, cut, and blow dry for around $70. I'll start by saying I was very nervous because I've only had one hair dresser before and didn't want my hair messed up. But I was not disappointed by this place. Background: I am not originally from New York, and I have a regular stylist back home that is great. But after almost 6 months in the city for an internship,my hair needed a trim pretty badly. So I looked on Yelp and saw the great reviews for this place and thought I'd try it. Getting an appointment: I went on a Monday after work. I called that day in the afternoon and she was able to fit me in at 5:30 pm. She was very nice over the phone. The wait/time: I didn't have to wait long to get my hair done, just enough time to enjoy a flip through a magazine - and I arrived 15 minutes early. I was done in less than an hour. Experience: First America asked how I wanted my hair and made some suggestions for layers (I like it when a stylist makes suggestions because I know nothing about hair). I told her I didn't want to lose too much length but some noticeable layers would be nice. She washed my hair with great smelling shampoo - it wasn't the most relaxing hair washing I've experienced, but is was not painful and it was thorough. With the first cut I actually panicked a bit because it was short (we had discussed to keep the front layers below the shoulder), but there wasn't really going back so I had to trust her. She cuts very differently than my stylist back home and so I didn't really know how it was going to turn out, but when she was done (even with it wet) I was pleased. The shorter cuts she had made at the beginning really just framed my face, and she had kept the length like I asked. She then thinned out the top of my hair (I have thick heavy hair, though smooth and straight). This was painful. But it was over quickly, and the effect was good. She did blow dry my hair. A lot of places charge for this, she does too. But I wanted to see it dry. What I wasn't expecting was the soft curls she did with my hair. When she let it all down the next woman waiting actually said "Wow". If I could have America do my hair everyday I would - I've never had it look so light and perfectly wavy. This made the blow drying completely worth it. And America even put the curls back up in pins for me so I could keep the curls for tomorrow (my hair will not hold them on its own). This was a really nice gesture so that I could keep the beautiful style she gave me. Price: I ended up paying around $70 dollars and tipping $10. This price was fair because she has a sign listed with $35 for both cut and wash/blow dry. This price is also considerably less than I pay for less styling back home. I did originally seek to find a cheaper trim, but the job she did was worth getting the whole works. Overall I was very pleased with my experience. Very friendly, fast, and VERY well done.

Erica D.

Yelp
Amazing salon! America is an amazing beautician and I'm so happy I found this salon. I I used to live in the area and stumbled upon it by accident. I've since moved quite far but still make a point to come here. When you find a good place you stick to it.

Zoe D.

Yelp
Jenny is great. Years of experience and she does what is healthiest for your hair. Beat Dominican roller set I've in NYC and in DC.

Javier A.

Yelp
America straightens my hair every couple of months and she's wonderful.

Oren R.

Yelp
I've been going to America for haircuts since 2012 and she is without a doubt the best stylist I've ever used. In my experience, stylists have a hard time handling both men's cuts when they deal mostly with women - but that's not the case with America. She is absolutely amazing and gets better each time I visit! My number one pick for men's haircuts in NYC! (oh and her prices can't be beat!!)
