Where Shenseea Goes For Caribbean Food, Wings & Peri Peri Chicken

"I was in a studio session with this producer called Tricky and one of the other producers ordered me some wings and fries. Let me tell you: I've never enjoyed American wings like that in my life. Wings in America...they put too much stuff in their chicken. It tastes like it's laced with some injections or fertilizer or something. Let the chicken grow with love. I never enjoyed wings in the U.S. until I tasted American Deli. The wings didn't look big. I chew the bones, and they were soft; the wings didn't taste like they were getting shot with anything. But that sauce. There's a sauce that they put on the chicken. It's a mix between tangy and hot. You know the program by now: when I like something, I'm gonna eat it again and again, so the wings were in the studio every day until I left. I went back to visit for one day and I had to get it again. My favorite wings in America." - brennan carley

American Deli - Review - West End - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Editor's Note: This venue will move to a temporary location while The Mall West End is under renovation. We'll update this review when we've checked it out. We might publicly ridicule American Deli, but we all secretly crave their 10-piece platter sometimes. What started as a simple wings concept at South Dekalb Mall in the late ’80s has morphed into popular takeout situations in shopping centers (like this West End spot) and standalones all around. Makes sense since everyone we know appreciates flats and crinkle fries, including us. The wings themselves are middle road. Hell, they could stand to be a lil’ bigger, too. But there’s an indescribable comfort when these lemon pepper wets are dunked in ranch dressing. Not feeling wings after work? Cool, the white american-cheese covered philly isn’t half bad. Just remember: if you’re still not ready to openly proclaim your love, make sure your bag is out of frame before hopping on Facetime. photo credit: Tabia Lisenbee-Parker" - DeMarco Williams

Someone mentioned the asian lady that says hi baby to people , I found her quite nice and she said the same to me. I waited for the food, it wasn't a long painful wait and then when I took the food back, it was hot and nice. They do good steak and cheeses there for sure. Fries were hot also.

This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at an restaurant. Upon walking in, I waited in a short line and engaged in my order with what I thought was a nice older woman, greeting each other semi-cordially and exchanging warm smiles as any two decent humans would. I promptly ordered 2 6 piece meals: one hot honey for my friend and one lemon pepper dry for myself. Although it was a little difficult communicating as it seemed as though English was not her first language, I was patient with her as she rushed me through my order, and gave me my order number to wait. After a lengthy wait, my order number was called and I approached the counter to get my food, seasoning at the counter as you usually do in an American Deli. Bringing the food to my friend they notice that their order is hot lemon pepper rather than hot honey (which is a problem because they hate lemon pepper), so I take it back inside (untouched) to let them know that the order was wrong. The treatment I received from this point on was completely uncalled for. After kindly telling one of the team members the order was wrong, I guess the cashier overheard me and began yelling across the whole store in a disgustingly harsh, disrespectful tone that, "HE ORDER HOT LEMON PEPPER!" I was taken aback, especially since I was being so nice. Additionally, I would never order lemon pepper for the individual I was with because I know how much they dislike it and I've never seen them eat lemon pepper. I rarely have problems at restaurants because I recognize how difficult the industry is and my patience with the staff reflects that, so I did nothing to incite this. I ensured her that this was a simple misunderstanding and there was no need to engage in this manner with me. She refused to listen and continued to repeat her statement in a completely inappropriate manner. I assured her that I was not trying to take advantage of the restaurant after I asked to speak to a manager to which she responded she was the owner. I simply wanted what I ordered. She refused to do anything to remedy the situation. I will never forget the service I received at this restaurant. I encourage everyone I know to avoid this establishment. To be treated like this as a black man in a neighborhood that is predominantly black by an Asian owner was ridiculous. If you are going to profit off of us, at least treat us with respect. She refused to have a civil conversation. Save yourself the stress. Don't go here. There is a better American Deli one minute away with a better health score, nicer people, and better service.

Went got my food fast, I got in my car you can tell food that’s been sitting. Good thing they did replace it made it fresh. The fries was hot and good the chicken not so much I could smell the chicken smell on it still 🤢 after that I basically tossed it. But I did eat the fries. Also the lady at the front was nice.

Google
This has been my go to wing spot for several years. It’s the hole in the wall spot that is known for their wings. The wings were extremely small to the point I feel like I ate more skin than chicken & prices are nearly double in comparison to a couple of years ago. Very disappointing… American Deli don’t cut back on quality because you will lose business, period..

We were visiting from Ohio and had to try their wings. They were phenomenal and worth the money well seasoned and cooked right.. We also got a cheeseburger that was delicious. We absolutely loved Mama and her crew! Love from Ohio!❤️

Yelp
I love this American deli in the west end mall. They are literally probably the only business holding this mall together . Lol I like to get the French fries with lemon pepper wet sauce to get my wing fix

Yelp
The wings are no joke! Literally top 3 of the best wings I have ever had! Took about 8 minutes for the order to be complete so service was fast! Can be hard to find if first time. It is located inside of a plaza mall. I will be back!

Yelp
This American Deli is an absolute gem. So delicious every time...they have never disappointed me. God bless the employees who work here. American heroes.

Yelp

Yelp
This is the best American deli I've been to period . One of the original American Deli locations . They have the best sauce . Everytime i go my order is always correct . To be honest , this was my first American Deli i went to when they first open and it will always be my favorite .

Yelp
This is the best American Deli in town. The cashier is always friendly and makes nice small talk. My order has never been wrong and the wing sauces are always DELICIOUS & my fries have ALWAYS been hot and cripsy. I've only gotten wings here however I've heard they have great sandwiches as well. I've never had to wait long for my food either, even when crowded, it is an acceptable wait time, to me. They even have extra seasoning on the side for you to put on your fries and/or wings after you get your food.

Yelp
Bruh! This is home for me. The HOOD wing spot. I miss Atlanta man and when I come home, I have to get some wings. It non-negotiable. My wife hates it but you don't see me complaining about these fruit and taco stands they got out here. Anyway, the wings in Atlanta are second to none. My go to? Ten piece: half Lemon pepper wet/ half hot teriyaki. Blue cheese. Sweet tea. Bomb! Very few, if any, of these places are black owned by have set up shop in our neighborhoods. With that in mind, you can expect for the customer service to be less than incredible. And we keep giving them our money because we love wings! It's time we bought our own. Let me wrap it up. I am always satisfied with this location. The food tastes great consistently and they get you your order pretty quickly. I can't wait to visit home again.

Yelp
Had for lunch today when i got off work,Had the chicken Philly and wings combo , it was 10.69 and added fries for 1.00, The chicken Philly was cooked perfect with all the toppings. Had hot honey bbq wings and a side of season fries. Food came out fairly quick. The place is always packed as its one of two restaurants inside the Mall at Westend. Always a go to meal around lunch time.

Yelp
This is the worst American Deli I have ever experienced in my 27 years of living! Prices are high for low quality and salty food! I placed a to go order, arrived 20 minutes after my food was ordered, and had to wait 15 minutes for my food.

Yelp
They have the very nasty attitude for no reason. And a customer came in with a sub sandwich but brought a drink from them (American Deli) and told him he could not eat in there. I will not come back here it's amazing how they are nice until you hand over your money and the nasty ass attitudes come out! Will not support them I suggest you shouldn't neither. I wouldn't even give 1 star but I wouldn't be able to right this review without one.

Yelp
I fell in love with this place years ago. None beat the flavor of the original location. I don't even care that it's in the raggedy West End Mall....I will come across town for my Chicken Philly and Lemon Pepper Wings. Yum!

Yelp
Just like any American deli. Gosh there are so many in Atlanta. But this my dear is the Original. I like my wings friend extra crispy and i don't even have to tell them they are just automatically that way.

Yelp
I am a good well paying customer who loves hot wings from American Deli but they serve hard chicken and barley put any sauce on it others are better but this is a defines the word no

Yelp
You have to knock off a star because it's in the West End which is a sketchy place in the hood by itself. The wings are amazing though. I am pretty sure they are the top if not the best, based on preference (flavor, size, etc.) in the downtown are. I order 10 hot wings and 10 lemon pepper wings and I have NEVER been disappointed. Enjoy!

Yelp
I'm am extremely upset with this American Deli location! I am 8 months pregnant when this Asian girl at the front counter took my order and began payment she replied that my card had declined. I then proceeded to pay $10 in cash then asked her to swipe the card again for the remaining balance. She said it declined again. The staff then swiped my card 2 more times explaining that the card had declined again with print outs as proof. I showed them my account summary which read American Deli -$22.27, which now left me a balance of 0.00. The manager rudely explained "I don't see that, your card keeps declining". Only because they'd swiped my card 3 or more times. So I was not served and I was rudely spoken to as well. I do NOT appreciate their customer service here at all! Horrible people here! If you dnt like your customers and will treat them like they're trying to take from you close your store!

Yelp
Im NOT a fan of the American Deli franchise but the West End location gets my vote. I'm not certain as to how this specific locations manages to be far to superior than others, maybe b/c it is the original location..... My meal of choice is the 5 pcs wing/ Philly cheesesteak combo and a peach/lemonade mix drink.

Yelp
If I could give it 0 stars I would. This is a money hungry restaurant.. They don't care about people spending their hard earned money there. The service here is horrible. I stood in line for 10 minutes.. It was 8:42 when I got there. I stood in line for 10 minutes all for the lady that works there to ask me what I needed. I told her I had been standing in line for 10 minutes and my order hadn't been taken yet. I told her how long I had been waiting in line and she cut me off saying she don't care and they are taking no more orders. I told her that wasn't right and I asked her is that his she runs her business. She called security on Me... I will NEVER spend my money here again. I used to come here all the time just because it was convenient. Black people wake up and stop spending your money in restaurants that don't care about you. They put these restaurants in the hood because they know they can make a killing off of us and still treat us like crap!
