So I came here with my wife on July 14th, trying to add her name to my account to make it a joint account. Unfortunately, I don't remember of the guy who "helped" us, but I do recall he had short hair and somewhat crooked teeth on the bottom row. Generally speaking, I like AHCU and have been enjoying my new status as a member. I just wanted to complain specifically about THIS employee, because the experience has been kind of rankling on me since that day and I don't know where else to air my grievances.
Anyway, this guy seemed tremendously uninterested in helping us. Maybe he's a racist? I don't know, but I got seriously bad vibes from him as soon as we went into his office. He asked for a number of documents from my wife, who is a foreigner, and then demanded we produce proof of residence. I had asked about the document requirements in advance online and no one had mentioned anything about this. So no, we didn't have proof of residence. Once I said this, he just clammed up and acted like his hands were tied. I asked him what we could use as proof of residence and he quickly rattled off a bunch of mail types which I was unable to catch. When I asked him again with my phone out so I could write them down, he just refused to tell me what documents I would need. What the hell kind of attitude is that? And then get this: On a separate date, when we went to try again at another location, they didn't even MENTION proof of residence. So did we even need it at all? Seems like this guy was just trying to make things difficult for us. Very unprofessional.
I don't know if I expect American Heritage to actually do anything about this employee, but I definitely don't feel like this reflects well on their business. I've otherwise had great experiences with them and found their customer service to be above average. Maybe this guy is just heading to a new job soon and doesn't care how he treats customers. Anyway, I'd say avoid this location if possible. They have a lot of other employees who are much more amicable and professional at other branches.
