Yelp
It's my first visit to this incarnation of Boat House v2.0 with beer taps and more burgers. "So...tell me, Dave, why does Yelp show you've made five check-ins here? Someone is being less than truthful aren't they?"
Yes. Yes, indeed, they are!! It seems the owner simply changed the business name and other details on the ORIGINAL Boat House Yelp page. That caused ALL of the ratings as well as any of pictures, reviews, and tips dated prior to February 2020 to be utter nonsense as they apply to the original Boat House...NOT AMERICANA TAPHOUSE! This review loses a star because not even the Yelp admins give a hoot. There's no accountability by either the platform or the merchant. You can't trust the numbers because...well...they've been either grilled, fried, or both...just plain cooked!
Back to Boat House v2.0, a.k.a. the Taphouse...
The food for my only Taphouse visit was better than its predecessor's, but the space was understaffed to the point of absurdity. The staff were trying (some were still learning the ropes,) but half of the dining room needed to be closed to compensate. Instead, all tables were open and disappointment was shared equally across-the-board.
The fresh fries were delicious. The burgers were good. As beer-battered fish goes, the fish was good. But the experience gets lost when the business is unable to meet reasonable table service expectations. Impact of the pandemic is certain, but has its limits.
Good luck to v2.0 as the pool of potential customers shows little sign of shrinking. I don't know whether it's the property or the proprietor, but snake-bit still looks like snake-bit. None of the guests I was with are in any hurry to come back. V3.0?
