I hate to give such a negative rating when there was only one main thing wrong with my experience. But it was so negative as to almost ruin my night. TL:DR - parking situation is terrible!
We had tickets to a triple bill - Christopher Cross, then Men at Work, then Toto. We rolled up a little before 6:45, the listed start time. I was a little surprised Christopher Cross started right on time, but no matter, we'll just miss a couple songs. No. We waited in traffic for OVER AN HOUR to finally get a parking space. My Ticketmaster purchase supposedly guaranteed me free parking in Lot A. When we got there, we were told it was full and to move on to Lot B. Well, getting to "Lot B" became a seemingly endless gauntlet through a business park, being told this lot or that was also full and to move on, until we finally were herded into the last parking deck on the line. I had been checking on my phone; Christopher Cross had rolled through his whole set list and was already gone. It was 7:55.
I thought this would be like the many shows I've seen at Chastain, another venue that is nestled in the middle of an urban area. At Chastain, you can pull up, be parked and in the venue in about 15 minutes. I mistakenly thought I could get into the venue in less than 75 minutes. Now I know.
Perhaps I was naive not knowing this about Ameris Amphitheatre. Going forward, if I see that a show I'm interested is happening there, I will say to myself "Is it worth showing up a couple hours early, and bake in the sun, to beat the crowd, or is it worth wasting an hour in traffic, putting up with that misery again, to see So-and-So?" Or, the venue can rethink the lousy system they have. I won't hold my breath on the latter.
