Great find. Went here after a movie at the Michigan Theater. On a quest to try places in A2 we haven’t been to. Didn’t disappoint. Super friendly staff and great food. I had Pastrami Reuben on Pumpernickel and wife had BLT with Turkey. We split fries. Really enjoyed the Sammie’s. Will be back for sure.

Google
One of my favorite restaurants in Ann Arbor! Great food, fast service, and very friendly staff (especially the owner, Amer). I make a point to stop by here every time I am in the Ann Arbor area—there sandwiches and crepes are delicious!

Google
I went with my 5yo daughter. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich and garlic parm fries. I don’t think I got garlic parm fries. I told this twice to the guy that handed me my food. But he didn’t listen to me and I gave up. They were excellent fries, fried appropriately and crispy. The sandwich had chicken, pesto, cheese and a tomato on it. It was okay. The chicken and the tomato needed salt. There was a large portion of chicken and cheese on the sandwich. The amount of tomato and pesto on the sandwich were comparatively small. Bread was good. Sandwich was very large, pictured is 1/4 of the sandwich. They did include both sweet and dill pickles with the sandwich, which was nice.

Google
Love the crepes. They are freshly made I front of you and are very tasty. The prices here are a bit high and you could find crepes for less, but it’s nice to support a small business. They know French here, which could be helpful to you! They also have açaí: so I’d definitely recommend that! Yummy place.

Google
Wow! What an variety of sandwiches, salads and more to choose from. It takes about 20 minutes to read the chalk menus listed above the staff. Each one has a name purposefully placed there. I found both my sons names there & a middle name! Neat! Very tasty food and generous portions. Right in Michigan university zone. Came for a college tour and located this amazing place to eat! You won’t be disappointed! A bit Pricy, but worth it.

Google
Very very hard to read menu.. extremely overloaded menu with over 11 pages to read from and over 100 things on the menu. very hard to feel comfortable in this place … extremely overwhelming place. Tables were not cleaned after each use so It felt quite dirty as the tables were sticky so we definitely took it to go and will never come back! The salt and pepper shakers were filthy and sticky and they didn’t have to go salt and pepper … the silverware was dirty and in a bucket holder thing where they can collect filth… ..No physical menus and not friendly and difficult for people with disabilities …

Google
Hands down one of the best ppaces in Ann Arbor for sandwiches!!! I always have either #42 or #61. John is the man and he is a legend. He will cater to all your needs and restrictions and the entire staff is very kind and fantastic. But the best part is the quality and taste of food. Also try the Guava Smootie and Crepes! Just love it! ♥️

Google
Tiramisu is really moist and good. Also, I highly recommend their green smoothie, but get it without pineapple. It's not sickly sweet, it has a nice refreshing flavor.

Yelp
The menu was huge and had a million options. Food tasted good and service was fast and friendly. Sandwiches were a little pricey ~$12 to $20 each. I paid about $25 (not including tip) for the medium sandwich and hot dog. A lot of seating, could accommodate small or large groups. Street parking in this area sucks and the garage is around the block. Overall... I wasn't happy with the price $$ or too blown-away by the size or taste of my sandwich or dog but I want to love this deli because of the service and prime location. I would probably return to try another sandwich and hopefully bump up my rating from 3 to 5 stars.

Yelp
I have now been a couple timed to amer's and have taken other people as it is reliable and pretty good. I've had the tuna salad sandwich, tomato bagel, lox bagel, and tried the eggs...I wouldn't get the bagel (I think revive has a better one in the are) this one is really bready and thick...being from NY I am not a huge fan. The sandwich however was very good and it is served with the crunchiest pickles. The eggs are also very good, definitely would recommend breakfast options; I want to try the french toast. My dad tried the hoagie with peppers and beef, not a huge fan. Stick to breakfast and pastrami/classics. There tends to be a little bit of a line if you go around lunch time but it moves quick and is worth it. Reasonably priced and convenient. There is also ample seating and it's a goof place to get work done if you like noise around you.

Yelp
Sandwich was disgusting. I ordered the turkey with muenster and mustard. It took a solid while for them to churn out the order, which was OVERPRICED, and when I finally got it, it was COLD, UNTOASTED, and hastily thrown together. I could've thrown that together on my own. I have also gotten their açaí bowls, which are mid, which is why I still gave them 2 stars. Not the best açaí bowl, but not the worst. They are good at packing them to the brim, but they can be kind of icy sometimes.
google avatar

Chris D.

Yelp
Today was my first visit here. The menu? Wow! What a large selection. Today I tried the turkey rueben (# 88) and it was delicious! The staff there was very helpful and they all work hard. They have a crepe station where you can watch them make crepes which was pretty cool. They have a good amount of seats and they keep it clean, if you care to eat on site. I will definitely be back because of the vast choices and great service.

Yelp
An Ann Arbor staple located adjacent to the main quad. For non students highly recommend you come during off peak hours on the weekdays as this place can get packed. Came at 10am walked right up to the counter. Ordered the Meggwich sandwich, it is a nice sandwich at a decent price. The sandwiches do take sometime to come out. What, I really came for were the Acai bowls which were the best, I have had in the Ann Arbor area. Nice portion, a wonderful treat anytime of the day. Will definitely be back for Acai bowls they also have a lot of Chicago favorites if you are home sick and need your fix. Going to try their Italian beef sandwich next time, I am there.

Yelp
@amersdeli - Ann Arbor 'Ol reliable has gotten me through fun times. The power bowl was pretty yummy, but I don't like granola that much. My favorites are the meggwhich and garlic parm fries
google avatar

Yelp
Don't sleep on Amer's. They have something for literally everyone and any time of day. I love their bagel sandwiches and I'd argue their açaí (which is pure and not unnaturally sweetened) is the best in the city - yes even better than actual smoothie shops. The staff is kind, lots of seating and an Ann Arbor classic. Don't miss it. They also have frozen yogurt with a full line up of toppings haha. I don't know how they do it all but they do. Pop off Amer's.
google avatar

Doug S.

Yelp
Food was good but I think I'd have liked a few more onions on my sandwich. Quite frankly the place seemed to be in a little disarray and could have used for a clean up of the general seating area. Also, do we really need to overwhelm the customer with 2 million sandwich choices?
google avatar

Madison D.

Yelp
I ordered the vanilla caramel latte it was very good. I also recommend people try the crepes they make!!
google avatar

Christina B.

Yelp
AMAZING food with lots of variety. Sandwiches are awesome- my favorite is the Chicken Ranch. My Mom got a spinach salad and loved it. Even chicken fingers and fries for my kiddo. Friendly staff. Place is welcoming. Also, for alum, the place hasn't changed. Same amazing sandwiches and dishes!
google avatar

Yelp
I have never gotten anything that I didn't like from Amer's, and their food is pretty consistent. It's a pretty quaint place, good for a quick lunch or a hang out, and I especially love going in the summers for their huge acai bowls. For the prices, I think these bowls are pretty worth it as they really load them up, and I always feel so healthy afterwards! I also love their Greek Salads, and they're so filling as the portions are pretty large as well.

Scott S.

Yelp
A good place to grab a bite to eat. Another staple of Ann Arbor. Has good options if in town (C)

Yelp
I have been attending U of M Ann Arbor for almost 2 years now, and I recently came across this cute restaurant. I will say, they are constantly packed with customers. This is obviously a great sign for business, but it's not really a grab n go. However, the workers are always very welcoming and kind. They have lots of different menu options to choose from, but I decided to go with one of their Açaí Bowls. I've heard really great things about them, and always hear other students raving about how savory and healthy they are for you. I got the Island Bowl, and wow! It had coconut, mango and strawberries, along with açaí. Definitely woke me up, and filled me perfectly. I've been coming here regularly now, whenever they aren't flooded with people. Definitely give them a try!

Diya H.

Yelp
They have a huge menu! They have the best açaí bowls I've ever had. Best açaí bowls in Ann Arbor
google avatar

Travis M.

Yelp
Loved this place!! The menu is vast, with every thing from Açaí Bowls (excellent), Sandwiches (really good), Salads (great size), frozen yogurt, etc. I have been here about 5 times and the food is consistent and yummy. The service is pretty quick given the place is almost always busy. The ambience is simple with a bit of seating, but does get full pretty often.... Can't say it enough, the Protein (açaí) Bowl was excellent, with plentiful toppings... go here and thank me later :)

Jesica B.

Yelp
Our sandwich and hot dog were good. We did have to wait about 20-25 min. Many people were ordering açaí bowls and only had one person making them. Many orders to go so the workers were working extra hard to get everything out to people!

Ellie S.

Yelp
The acai bowl that I had here was amazing. The only place on campus that I have gone to for it. I hope to go back soon to try their other menu items. It was pretty fast even when it was busy. Great location and I love the inside of it.
google avatar

Tina V.

Yelp
Wow this place was not clean at all. The Reuben's were decent size but not very good. I guess students don't really look around at how dirty this place is, tables were all dirty, trash was full, cobwebs everywhere. I don't even want to speculate the kitchen, I seen they had gloves on. I don't understand why it was so busy. I would never recommend this place to anyone and I would never return. I seen a girl/student looks like she brought her parents there for brunch, I felt mortified for her parents.

Frankie S.

Yelp
LOVE AMERS!!! the menu is incredibly large, definition of "there is something for everyone." the tuna salad is amazing, and the smoothies/acai are also great. the service is a bit slow but there is a ton of seating. definitely a regular stop for me!

Yelp
I can hardly believe my last review of Amer's Deli was over 6 years ago! This update comes in mid-December 2020 with the pandemic in full swing and the U of M college students nowhere to be found. Amer's location, just seps from Michigan's famed Diag in the heart of the U of M campus, is normally a bustling street scene. Today, State Street was incredibly quiet offering me a prime parallel parking spot for my carryout order. Trust me...this never happens to me in downtown A2. Amer's is a worthy competitor to Zingerman's in this town offering an incredible 88 different sammies and more than 30 salads. After some deliberation, I ordered and paid for the Georgia Reuben online and got a promise that my sammie would be ready to rock & roll in a quick 15 minutes. Amer's Georgia Reuben is made with a premium smoked turkey, Swiss cheese, cole slaw and Russian dressing on grilled Jewish Rye. As I occasionally do, I asked for a generous cup of Amer's house-made tangy Russian dressing to take home with my Reuben. Today, Amer's completely lived up to their mission of delivering exceptional service, grace and speed...along with an incredibly flavorsome and delectable sandwich.

Yelp
Highly recommend their Amazon bowl: açaí bowl with strawberries, sunflower seeds, coconut flakes, and honey. Looks small, but is very filling and super refreshing.
google avatar

Yelp
absolutely disgusting, in every facet. I would stay away. we have such high hopes, and was let down!
google avatar

Ashlynn K.

Yelp
My go to on days when I need a pick-me-up! Service is impeccable, all very friendly albeit a little stressed sometimes. I always make sure to stop by every once in a while as I cannot find an açaí bowl white as good as theirs anywhere else in A2. Adorable little shop, friendliest management around.
google avatar

Yelp
Huge menu selection and the perfect place to fill up for breakfast and/or lunch! The chili fries are great. I think there is no choice but to come back whenever I find myself craving them again- lol.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered a double bite (#33) on the Snackpass app. My food was ready early and the staff was helpful and nice. The sandwich was great, on a good bun which they soaked one side with balsamic vinegar which was really tasty! It was stuffed with good quality deli meat and fresh toppings. My only complaint is the pickles: there were two kinds and I didn't like either of them. They were mostly just salty without the dill/vinegar taste I love in a pickle. Overall I liked it, but will probably only order again with the discounts on Snackpass since the prices are kind of steep for what you get.

Yelp
Updating this review from 3 to 5 .The establishment has been consistently clean. .The service has been consistently good .Tart yogurt is phenomenal .Air conditioning is working consistently, and it's comfortable, cool and pleasant to sit inside .Their sandwiches are awesome even if you like a more boring option. The meat is plentiful and there are so many bread options. .Their crepes are decadent and their açaí bowls are well made. .Smoothies taste great, are a nice texture and a good healthy option Everyone can find something they'd like here. I haven't tried their deli foods but they look much more appetizing than they used to. The Cakes look quite decadent and tasty.

Yelp
Located in a perfect spot in the college town of the University of Michigan. Came here with three of my college friends from a nearby school for Saturday morning brunch at 11 AM. Not too crowded, but you could tell this was a local's favorite. Good vibes throughout the restaurant, food was ready pretty quickly, and there was plenty of seating for social distancing. Ordered the Nutella & Strawberry Crepe, Amazon Açaí Bowl, Salmon King bagel, and Falafel Ranch sandwich. Amazon Açaí Bowl: For my East Coast friends: WAY Better than Playa Bowls. Smooth Açaí layered with a mix of crunchy and sweet toppings. Falafel Ranch: Interesting combination of Falafel, Cheddar, cucumber, and Ranch - but a great one, sandwiched in between toasted white bread. Nutella & Strawberry crepe: Big, fluffy, and delicious! Creamy Nutella and tons of strawberries! Salmon King bagel: Delicious! Pickles: OUT OF THIS WORLD.

Yelp
Tried it as a low-cost alternative to Zingerman's. The Chicago-style hot dogs were pretty good - significantly better than Ray's Red Hots, but not up to par with Portillo's in Chicago. The side dish of gnocchi and smoked cheddar, similarly, was quite good. But the Pesto Luck sandwich was disappointing, chiefly because it was very light on, uh, pesto - so I'm basically eating a tomato slice and slab of mozzarella cheese lodged bt two (barely) toasted (not grilled) slices of bread. No comparison to the Zingerman's counterpart, which is generous with everything and grilled to near perfection. My wife got the hot dog, so had she written this review, it'd probably be a four-star. But I got the pesto sandwich, and I'm writing the review, so it gets a three.

Yelp
This is such a unique and charming spot to try if you ever find yourself in Downtown Ann Arbor! I'd highly recommend trying the Açaí bowls, specifically the Amazon Bowl; it's full of so much flavor and really filling! Amazon Bowl

Yelp
So yummy and the server was super super nice! If I'm ever at UofM again I will def be coming back!

Yelp
Their menu is SO huge! I mean sooo huge. I was on my way to Tropical Smoothie to get my acai smoothie fix (my favorite on their menu). And I saw a sticker on Amer's window advertising an acai bowl! Hey, that's looks so healthy! Let's do it. My oh my, this place is EXPENSIVE! I got the berry acai bowl, and I impulse bought a crepe. $19.06????? $19.06 for a quick snack stop? I couldn't believe it. It was embarrassing at how I had to look at the receipt and back up at the menu price and back down. I couldn't believe it. Even though it's a walkup counter, they still ask for a tip on the receipt, which seems normal nowadays, so I rounded up to $20. I still can't believe $20 for an acai bowl and a crepe. Yikes! I won't rule this place out because of how vast its menu is, meaning that I probably will find something that I'll fall in love with eventually. However, that's definitely won't be a quick lunch spot for this lower SES student! I'm not a typical student that has a lot of money to be wasteful, and as other reviewers noted - this place seems catered to the wealthy, and if their customer population will pay, theyll keep their prices high. Oh well.
google avatar

Alison R.

Yelp
I don't usually leave Yelp reviews, but I felt compelled to do so after a great experience at Amer's today. I am probably not their typical customer - I'm a mom in my 40s and I went there with my child to kill time waiting for an appointment. Minutes before a UM game, the place was packed and there was a new employee training on the register. I almost felt guilty only ordering frozen yogurt and a latte. But the staff was SO nice, patient and helpful, and provided some of the best customer service I've gotten in this time of short-staffed establishments and overwhelmed employees. The food and drinks were also fresh and delicious. Thank you! And your new employee was great, please give him a raise :)

Kyle B.

Yelp
Honestly this was a let down. I've been here before but this breakfast and sandwich today was very sad. Crumbles of bacon on a blt to the point that it was mostly bread. The cashier has an attitude problem too. The eggs are pretty meh and don't ask for wheat toast, you'll just get white bread toast smeared in butter. Had to bus our own plates. We were also ignored before ordering for 10 solid minutes while the cashier just walked around. I would not recommend this place. We left hungry!
google avatar

Sally H.

Yelp
Wide selection of foods, from omelettes and crepes to hot dogs and sandwiches. Rated lower for uncleaned tables and floor.
google avatar

Temima N.

Yelp
I thought it was a cute place so we stopped in to find out they had an incredibly expansive menu that covered everything from sandwiches, crepes, breakfast, desserts, etc??? I got a Nutella & strawberry crepe with chocolate sauce & powdered sugar. It was very good! I had a wait awhile since there was only 1 person making it but it was worth the wait!

Vic S.

Yelp
I had an amazing experience at Amer's! I had a lot of work to catch up on and I ordered myself a Berry Acai Bowl and it was one of the best that I have had. The fruit tasted fresh and it blended really well together. The honey was just the cherry on top! The whole bowl was fresh, flavorful, and filling and I look forward to ordering it again soon!
google avatar

Heath S.

Yelp
I was tipped by an alumni to stop by Amer's and enjoy a New York Club (#34) so that's just what I did! There wasn't any parking within blocks of this deli on a very busy State St so I dropped off my wife and navigated the University of Michigan until it was ready. The pastrami and sauces were amazing in this tall sandwich but the pumpernickel was a bit much. I stripped off the middle layer of bread and was left with one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. My only other gripe is that there should've been more lettuce since there was so much meat but blah blah blah...it was a damn good sandwich. Stop in and grab one today!
google avatar

Trisha M.

Yelp
Went for breakfast. Good portion. We enjoyed our breakfast. There were a lot of choices on the menu.
google avatar

Madeleine S.

Yelp
Loved my meal here! Got one crepe each (eating the whole thing made me feel sick... but in the good way!) and hot chocolate. Prices were great and I was impressed with the wide range of variety on the menu- I'll definitely go back to explore it further!
google avatar

Joyce L.

Yelp
I heard a lot about Amer's and never knew how close it was to my place. There is a HUGE menu list so it is probably hard for an indecisive person. This is a deli place but they are also known to have acai bowls. I have been here a twice and I only got the acai bowls...THEY fill you up real quick. I am kinda disappointed with the portion they give you compared how much you pay for it. The place is not the prettiest but overall a good place to go with groups because there is a lot of space and tables.
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
This place is fine but quite overpriced. Over $12 for a veggie omelet and a can of soda? (And by "veggies," I mean onions and peppers and maybe a couple leaves of spinach, and some American cheese, nothing fancy.) I'd expect prices like these if this were a sit-down restaurant with waiter service, but it's basically just a lunch counter. The ingredients and setting do NOT warrant this price tag. That said, the place is right across the street from the university's central campus, where a bunch of students are paying for food with their parents' money, so I guess Amer's can get away with it.
google avatar

Kevin M.

Yelp
I generally order in using a variety of services. So I try as many different restaurants as I can. At least that way I can guide students, visitors, dates, or even just a night out. I used to own a restaurant and was a national hospitality consultant so I am familiar with the whys and how's of the business. I must say I lived in Chicago and worked for a good old fashioned true Jewish delicatessen. I was very satisfied with the flavor, temperature, portion, and price. As most people know restaurants can be outstanding one minute and disappointing the next. At least this experience was outstanding. The menu may be a bit too big for many industry reasons. If you've ever had an italian beef in Chicago this is the closest I have found. I will order again and let you know consistency. But for now, definitely worth the try. Great job Amer Delicatessen! Delicious

Yelp
Usually, I go to Amer's on Thursdays after I have had 4 hours of depressing classes and I am pretty devastated. At this time of the day, I am starving because most of the time when I wake up in the morning, I discover that my roommate has eaten all of my choco chips cereal. However, when I step in the restaurant, my emotions change immediately because the people at the desk are always really friendly and I have already chosen a sandwich that I am going to tackle like Devin Bush tackles quarterbacks. So, this Thursday I stepped into the restaurant, walked straight to the desk and asked for the Midwest Club, which is basically a chicken pesto sandwich. I also added avocado because I think it makes every sandwich better. Only a few minutes had passed when the food arrived. I feel like it always takes about five minutes to get your food. The lunch was tasty as always- the chicken was juicy, challah bread was golden brown, and it was enormous. As I noticed that the food had disappeared, I went to the frozen yogurt machine the get vanilla froyo. I added strawberries, kiwi, Oreos, chocolate sprinkles, pineapple, and blueberries. I believe that it is one of the best things I have ever eaten. It is hard to describe it- you just have to eat it yourself. Every time I finish my lunch there I feel that I have made at least one right decision on that given day. The prices at Amer's are tolerable- sandwiches are around 11 dollars, and the yogurt is 6 dollars. So, if you decide to go there, prepare to spend 20 bucks. I hope you found my review useful :).

Yelp
I ordered a white chocolate raspberry cheesecake for my study session. I was really excited since I've heard many good things about their food and desserts! Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience with the cheesecake. The price of the cheesecake was about $5.55 - that's not bad. The cheesecake looked appetizing. When I took my first bite, I noticed that the texture of the cheesecake was dry and stiff. It was not as creamy as I had expected. There were frosting on top. The frosting was not too sweet which is a plus for me! But the frosting was also very dry and stiff. The flavor of the cheesecake was definitely there. If the cheesecake used a bit more cream cheese and had a fluffier frosting, it would've been better. I was a little disappointed. Maybe the cheesecake was left out a little too long? I would not come back for that specific cheesecake. But their menu has much more food and desserts to try so I will have to come back to give Amer another try!

Yelp
Got the Chicago and Georgia dog. So good! They have AMAZING fries! The workers were so nice as well. 10/10 recommendation!

Yelp
A little pricier than it should be and the service is a little slow, and sure it's not hip and trendy and it is definitely not "insta-worthy", but I think that's it's appeal!! It's a classic deli/coffeehouse that's been in Ann Arbor forever and it is what it is and doesn't try to be anything else which i really appreciate. It's bizarre the variety of stuff Amer's has, there's already a huge selection of sandwiches, but there's also frozen yogurt?? And crepes?? And hot dogs?? And acai bowls?? And pancakes/breakfast?? It's pretty crazy and I'm thrown off every time I go and it's really a toughie deciding what you want because everything I've gotten there so far has been enjoyable. Don't expect it to be marvelous, but I'd really just recommend getting what sounds good to you because more likely or not, they'll do a decent job. It's lowkey a great place to sit down and eat/study all day. It was a scary day when they started downsizing and I hope it never closes down so...everybody go to Amer's!!

Mark D.

Yelp
I've lived in Ann Arbor for 9 years; and although I only go to Amers sporadically I can state unequivocally that it is one of the top two best places in town to get food. They have a broad menu which I can't read, because I refuse to wear glasses... BUT the point is, that you can go in and get a decent hot dog. Chicago Style is best if you like all the fixings. They also have NY style, Georgia style... and a Classic Italian hot roast beef sandwich with seasoned gravy that they'll serve to you in about a million different ways, depending on your preference. I've been coming here for years, and I've never been disappointed, but I went in today; and the young cook did a PARTICULARLY good job cooking and assembling my order. This place is where you can always go if you want good food and no bullshit.
google avatar

Jared M.

Yelp
Nearly everyone who comes to Ann Arbor has heard of Zingerman's Deli, where such noteworthy figures as President Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey herself have in the past enjoyed a sandwich. But Ann Arbor boasts many competing delicatessens, not the least of which is Amer's. Stop by either of the two student-friendly locations for absolutely massive sandwiches (my picture of the Brooklyn Club is their "regular." I can't imagine what the "super" looks like) as well as a cooler full of baked goods, deli sides, or in the morning for made-to-order crepes. And then after feel free to indulge at the self-serve frozen yogurt bar (which has to my taste buds the best regular tart yogurt anywhere in the area). Amer's isn't pretentious, and though its prices have crept up in the past few years, you won't walk away un-satiated. For a casual lunch, brunch, or breakfast you can't go wrong here.

Faith S.

Yelp
My friend and I came here for a morning bite/brunch after our run and we both really enjoyed it! Their daily special flavored coffee was sooo good! It was the amaretto roast and I would come back just for this coffee! The food was pretty good too, I wanted oats but they didn't offer them (surprising since there were over 200 items on the menu!) so got an açaí bowl instead. I'd never had one before but I would probably order it again. My friend got the s'mores crepe and couldn't eat it fast enough! The atmosphere was nice, but a little outdated and awkwardly quiet at times since we were the only ones in there except for the staff. There is a wide variety of options though and the staff was very accommodating and helpful!
